The Boor, a one-act play, by Anton Chekhov

Also known as 'The Bear' this play had its premiere in Korsh Theatre in Moscow on October 28, 1888, and was a success from the start. In Chekhov's lifetime it brought in regular royalties, and it has constantly been revived on both professional and amateur stages worldwide since. Chekhov, who often referred to his own writing in self-deprecating ways, remarked on his success: "I've managed to write a stupid vaudeville which, owing to the fact that it is stupid, is enjoying surprising success."

The Plaza Theatre Podcast launches soon.

While the Plaza Theatre in Romsey is shut, its resident company, RAODS, will be bringing the drama direct to you.

Our first audio production, The Country Wife, by William Wycherley will be coming soon.

All our productions will be free to stream or download, but if you would like to support us and help pay the running cost of our theatre, we would welcome your donation. Just visit www. plazatheatre.com for more details.
