Continuing the Story of Moses, and the instigation of a new commands and a new covenant. God needed to put some guidelines in place now that he was going to live among his people. The Israelites never got to be in a close, personal relationship with God because their sin still separated them from God - that's why he had them build the 'holy of holies' in the tabernacle. But through the atoning sacrifice and forgiveness of Jesus, we no longer have that obstacle - God now dwells within us - so we had better make sure we are prepared for that too! As we delve into chapter 10 of Luke, we learn from Jesus some great insight into the ministry that Jesus has sent us into. The Harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few - so we should pray for workers to join us as we Go the way we have been sent. And in sending out the 72 we learn to 1. Focus on those who respond positively 2. Act with integrity 3. Serve in your gifting 4. Share the Gospel. But there are some warnings also - People will reject us and the message of hope in the Gospel, and there are consequences to rejecting Jesus. But the amazing blessing the comes with doing what we have been sent to do is that it brings great Joy - Our Joy, Other's Joy and God's Joy!

Abimelech fell into the lure of greed and self-assertion, yet his story from Judges Chapter 9 reminds us that God opposes the greedy and the selfish, and he will bring about Final Justice in the end.
