According to scripture (John 5:17) when challenged to justify healing on the Sabbath, Jesus said "My Father is always working, and so am I."

A favorite story said to be told by Jesus the Christ is the one called the Parable of the Prodigal Son. This story is only found in the 15th chapter of Luke and reportedly told when the scribes and Pharisees were murmuring or complaining that Jesus welcomed everyone, even the sinners, to come and eat with them.

The Ten Commandments, also known as the Decalogue, are a set of ethical and religious directives that are part of the Hebrew Bible. According to the Bible the Ten Commandments were given to Moses on Mount Sinai and he then gave them to the children of Israel who had been enslaved in Egypt.
Exodus 20:2 The first commandment is "You shall have no other gods before me."

According to Luke 15th chapter, Jesus told a story about two sons and their father. Often this is referred to as the parable of the prodigal son, although the word prodigal is not used in the scripture. Some find meaning in a surface level approach to the story. In other words, the younger son would represent sinners, the older son represent teachers of the law and the father representing God.

Thou Shall not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14) The surface level this commandment seems to deal with moral living and outer action. On deeper levels one sees there are metaphysical principles to be found which include our thoughts and beliefs and that to which we give power.
Thou shall not steal. (Exodus 20:15) On a surface level this commandment seems to be about not taking anything that belongs to another. Deeper level understanding reveals that life is always in balance. Even if one temporarily takes what belongs to another ultimately life will return it where it belongs..

An example...I can no longer use an apostrophe ( ' ) to identify what God is, as in God's Love, etc. This is important to me, for if something possesses something, it can be taken away.
My understanding of the Energy I call God IS these aspects or things....Love...Peace...Joy...etc. Never can be diminished or taken away. So, how do I express these thoughts? "God-Love"...note, no ownership, just another way if identifying a quality or quantity of something that our language asks of us.

The teachings of Jesus seem to be almost subversive and they definitely go against the conventional wisdom. Perfect example...Love your enemies, bless anyone who curses you, do good to anyone who hates you, pray for those who persecute you. If you just love those who love you, what have you accomplished? Adding more energy to the hate doesn't get us the kind of results we deserve... a decision to love the seemingly unlovable will set into motion the effects that we want and deserve.

Jesus told the story of two sons that were asked by their father to work in the vineyard. One said he wouldn't, but then changed his mind and did it. The other said he would, but then he didn't do what he said he would. The parable is not just a reminder to keep our word and keeping our commitments. It's also about remembering who we are as spiritual beings and putting that into practice.
