“As the journey of Advent continues, as we prepare to celebrate the nativity of Christ, John the Baptist's call to conversion sounds out in our communities. It is a pressing invitation to open our hearts and to welcome the Son of God Who comes among us to make divine judgement manifest. The Father, writes St. John the Evangelist, does not judge anyone, but has entrusted the power of judgement to the Son, because He is the Son of man.
Our hope is in the coming of the Lord! May hope and love dwell in our hearts this first week of Advent.
Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.” (Mark 13:35-37)
We celebrate Christ as past, present, and future King over all the earth and at the same time we express our hope and our faith in that coming Kingdom. But we are also looking forward to our journey this coming year, as we express each week our faith in the transforming power of God at work in our world, and in our Church, and in our lives to restore all of creation to his purposes.
For this Thanksgiving week, let's focus on gratitude for all the blessings God provides us.

The reality of Jesus' resurrection is the most important doctrine of the Christian faith. If Jesus is not raised - Paul would say that we are pitiful people.
