Love them or hate them, there is no denying that LSAs have changed the way law firms advertise on Google and have significantly impacted the number of cases any law firm relying on Google advertising for increasing their caseload. Grace and Liel open the show with an update on Camp Lejune as things seem to be moving on a path forward after some turbulent weeks of uncertainty and challenges. The conversation goes on to discuss the advantages and disadvantages the plugins have for law firm websites and why you should pay attention to what gets implemented on your law firm site. Just as Google announced new E.A.T factors, Neeva shared their search ranking factors for technical queries, and while much of their consideration mirrors what Google considered a ranking factor, there is one particular differentiator that has a massive impact on user experience; this and more in this week’s episode. In this week’s episode, Grace and Liel look at the earning call results from Meta, Google, and Microsoft and review what this signals regarding marketing opportunities for law firms. The conversation discusses the transition from Google My Business to Google Business Profile and what this means for your law firm and another mass tort coming together. For tech companies, 2022 just hasn't been a great year. Particularly for Meta, which has seen drops at all levels and announced that things are about to get worse. But with higher daily active users than anticipated, Facebook and Instagram continue to be extremely valuable platforms for your law firm to be present. And with less competition, this is an opportunity not to be missed. Recent studies suggest that there may be a correlation between children diagnosed with autism whose mothers took Tylenol during pregnancy. Will this mass tort take off? In the early 1980s, it was discovered that the water at Camp Lejeune was contaminated with a number of chemicals, including trichloroethylene (TCE), perchloroethylene (PCE), and benzene. Fast forward to today, and victims of water contamination at Camp Lejeune are still waiting for justice, but things are about to change. This week's podcast features Grace and Liel discussing the most recent mass lawsuit to go viral on television, Camp Lejeune. Tesla recently recalled all employees back to the office, with the expectation of 40 hours a week o presential work. The reason is increased productivity, teamwork, growth, and alignment. Now you may agree or disagree with Elon Musk’s take on what it takes to build great things. However, if one thing has been proven over the past two years, it is that you can have extraordinarily productive and engaged teams even if they are working remotely. And yes, this applies to Law Firms also. In this week’s podcast, Grace and Liel discuss the power that team building and retreats can have in elevating your law firm’s team performance at all levels and boosting productivity and profitability. The conversation based on Grace and Liel’s recent experience creating team-building events for their teams covers how to set up a date to what to include on the agenda and when it is best just to leave the business agenda at the law firm to focus on nurturing relationships. Over the years, we have met and interviewed some of the fastest-growing law firms. The one common denominator that we have encountered amongst all of them is culture alignment. In this week's episode, attorney https://www.linkedin.com/in/rezatorkzadeh/ (Reza Torkzedeh) joins us for a conversation that explores the before and after his law firm experienced when he realized he had to up his game and start running his law firm like a Fortune 500 company. Reza is the author of two books, and one of the primary topics in his most recent book, The Lawyer as CEO, is company culture. We talk about what was the moment he understood that despite his belief that he was running a successful firm, he was slowing it down and even alienating its most important asset: his team. Learn how putting culture at the forefront of his business empowered TorkLaw to grow exponentially, stay ahead of the curve even for unforeseeable events, and lead the path in which modern law firms do business and network in tomorrow's world. Mass Torts acquire their standing because they affect thousands of people. Despite this, the extent of public awareness for typical mass torts is depressingly low, owing to the fact that they do not attract significant media interest in addition to the corporate responses made towards them. However, every now and then, a Mass Tort will attract enough attention to go viral, as we witnessed this year. You've undoubtedly heard about the severe baby formula shortage across the country if you haven't been entirely off the grid for a month. The news has attracted worldwide attention as people try to figure out how the world's richest country could mishandle things so badly. In this episode, we explore why your law firm should be the one to answer this question for your community. In this podcast, we go through how the closure of one plant in Michigan has destabilized the baby formula supply chain throughout the country, why it happened, and what could have been done better to prevent it. We also discuss how product liability law firms are the greatest carriers of this message and where they should be joining the conversation. According to reports, a new Google privacy tool will allow users to follow brands they like and opt out of sensitive ad categories. The name of the tool? My Ad Center. Tune in and join the conversation if you want to hear how this tool will impact your law firm’s Google Ads campaigns. Grace and Liel explore how My Ad Center will let users decide which topics, categories, and brands they are interested in. But, most importantly, it will allow users to opt-out of certain types of advertising and even provide live feedback on the ads they are being served, even on the search network. The conversation then jumps to analyze the results from a recent PPC survey on adopting Google Ads recommended automation. The results are not surprising to us, but they could be to you if you are not involved in the managing of your Google Ads account. Target Cost per Acquisition sounds wonderful as a strategy - you set the price, and Google gets you the conversion. What's not to love about it? Well, to start with, a conversion is not a case. In this episode, we will discuss news and updates for digital platforms, namely Google Ads, Google My Business, and the social media platform that is making Netflix and every other streaming platform shake, TikTok. Grace and Liel initiate their conversation regarding Google My Business's new redressal complaint form that gives users the ability to report a business as non-existent. A reminder of why firms shouldn’t forget that there is way more to Google My Business than just reviews. It is expected to be a clear and accurate registry of everything related to your business. TikTok has only continued to grow and earn more popularity since the beginning of the year. Their marketing platform is keeping up with the platform growth and the success of its creators, more recently announcing the launch of Pulse: a new placement opportunity that could have your sponsored videos showing in between the 4% top-performing videos on the platform. The number of Google My Business reviews you obtain is one of the many figures that matter in your legal practice, and you are keeping track of it meticulously. It has been two years since our live MTMP spring session at the Wynn in Las Vegas. But this past week, over one thousand lawyers, paralegals, marketers, and industry people met at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas to share updates, network, and stand up for their values. Attorney https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-blom-08967143/ (Michael Blom) from the Lake Law Firm joins Grace and Liel to recap his experience at Mass Torts Made Perfect Spring Session 2022. He shares an overview of the presentation he gave covering co-counseling and an often overlooked program that grants up to $25,000 per employee to businesses impacted by the pandemic. For Michael, the most valuable moments at the conference occurred outside the conference rooms. Still, they were more frequent during one-on-one conversations with acquaintances, prospect-partners, and even as a special guest on Power of Attorney: Atty Don Wroleys TV Show. That’s right, Atty Don Worley has his own TV Show. Mass Torts don’t always start with a bang. Often the road to becoming a mass tort is long and unclear, and in this week’s episode, we explore this journey by discussing two potential new mass torts that are getting started. Grace and Liel discuss how last year’s voluntary recall of some aerosol personal care products deserves the attention of law firms searching for new mass tort opportunities. A Health Hazard Evaluation report said that Johnson & Johnson’s tests detected levels of benzene 5 to 12 times above recommended limits set by two independent organizations. Consequently, the company issued a recall, and other companies then followed suit. This conversation explores how to start marketing for mass torts that have not yet shown their full potential or even got recognized as mass torts; being the first carries a lot of value, and that is an inexpensive risk worth taking. This week's podcast has Grace and Liel discussing the American Association for Justice 2022 Winter Convention that concluded last week in Palm Springs. They talk about their experience on the exhibitor floor, but most importantly, some of the most and least discussed Mass Torts news that came out of the conference. The convention took place in warm and sunny Palm Springs, which was the perfect setting for a convention that looked at providing as much outdoor recreation space as possible to balance the intense schedule of talks and presentations. This resulted in the exhibitor hall being forgotten in some dead-end ballroom where instead of hearing conversations between vendors and lawyers, the only sound was the background music at a relatively low volume. When you search in Google, you probably have noticed the search term suggestions it populates on the search results page, such as “people also search” which most frequently than not have a lot of relevancy to what you are searching and sometimes may even have the answer. In this week’s conversation Grace and Liel talk about Google’s strategy to keep users longer on the platform finding new queries, served to them courtesy of Google, and how this impacts your law firm’s website’s traffic but most importantly, how to use this to your advantage. The conversation explores how Google will leverage its shift towards predictability for increasing its ad revenue through search pay per click and why it will impact the way your Google Ads campaign is running. This week's show revisits the CPAP mass lawsuit, how things are going, and the level of difficulty in generating leads and cases for it. Another food-related class action lawsuit, this one affecting toddlers and children who consume purees, cereals, and other snacks from a variety of companies ranging from budget to high-end organic products. The conversation dives into why this mass tort is plausible despite no recall or other remediation being implemented by the FDA so far. Finally, the episode looks at the fundamentals of running an effective mass tort campaign and why more is always better when it comes to implementing a mass tort strategy. It's no secret that you've probably heard a lot more about the metaverse than you wanted. While you may still be in denial that one day there will be a cartoon version of yourself running around this virtual world, our discussion today focuses on why taking the metaverse seriously can be a sound business choice. Still, you have to move with caution and be wary about the risks involved. This week, Grace and Liel talk about virtual real estate in the metaverse, from where it is accessible to who is purchasing it and what can be done once you are the owner to how it may be utilized for your legal practice. The conversation explores what is stopping the metaverse from becoming more appealing to a larger demographic and what might be the tipping point that will convert wary naysayers into enthusiastic adopters. It's 2022. For the first episode of our fourth season, we discuss hope, privacy, and the importance of top-of-the-funnel marketing for law firms. We examine why desktop traffic is becoming increasingly more important and how DuckDuckGo's upcoming release of a desktop browser might affect your legal practice's traffic. Spoiler alert! Not much. Yet. Still, this is something you should look out for. Meta (aka Facebook) is starting the year with more regulations to their targeting options. Another reason why you can't only rely on third-party data and make an extra effort to get to know the users who already like and trust your law firm and use your data to find more like them. Lots of lawyers brush off display advertising as ineffective. Still, to first test the effectiveness of display advertising, you need to make sure you start by having a well-composed display creative. In this episode, we explore how to create an effective static banner. Welcome to the new year and our fourth season of private legal marketing conversations! IGrace and Liel meet at the CEO Lawyer Summit in last week's episode, a fairly new summit with a fresh take on legal conferencing. And in this week's conversation, we explore how we experienced our first time attending this event. Ali Awad first started exploring this topic back in 2011 when he realized that his personality type was not well suited for being a good lawyer. He says that from there on out, something just clicked as he became an entrepreneur with a mission of teaching lawyers how they can run their businesses better. In doing so, The CEO Lawyer emerged as Ali has built his brand around the idea of helping lawyers become entrepreneurs and leaders rather than people who simply practice law. The CEO Lawyer Summit is a fairly new summit with a fresh take on legal conferencing. It was created by Ali Awad, aka The CEO Lawyer. It covers a wide range of topics, from building your case from a medical standpoint to running a law firm virtually to the recipe for creating your content machine. If you attended the summit, then this is a good recap of what went on, but if you missed it this year, this is an excellent opportunity to learn about a new way to look at the business of law. The year 2021 has witnessed the rise of new Mass Torts, the consolidation of existing ones, and a slow and silent fade of others (hmm, RoundUp). As we enter the final stretch of 2021, two new torts are breaking out, and we cover everything we know about them in this week's episode. One of them is infant formula, with the potential to have affected tens of thousands of infants all across the country. Some call it the "next big one," but there are several questions yet to be answered and a strategy requiring advanced segmentation to avoid interfering with birth injury cases. On the other hand, there are lead poisoning cases in Jackson, MS. While the qualifiers and target area are more straightforward, the complexity of torts involving municipalities, governments, and other organizations may add extra levels of complexity that make it impossible to predict where these will end. Join our conversation to hear what we know and don't know about two of the most recent mass torts out there. Wouldn't it be great if you could have an advantage in your marketing efforts over all your law firm competitors in the market? But what would be even better is if you could influence your prospective clients to want to hire you fast. In this week's episode we are joined by http://linkedin.com/in/drroneccles (Dr. Ron Eccles) to tell us the secret to creating an “Unfair Marketing Advantage” for your law firm. Dr. Ron begins by explaining to Liel and Grace how having a why is the critical element of speaking to the emotional part of the brain of your law firm's potential clients, which will automatically get them interested in what you have on offer for them. He then explains that telling stories can be very effective through his research with neuro-marketing and all kinds of branding campaigns he has been involved in over his career. The conversation looks at why working with pros who can help you get right things you don't know how to do yourself while also making it more efficient and less wasteful when time is your most valuable asset (which we totally agree upon!) Many people want to be known as the greatest at anything, especially when it implies more and better clients. While many attorneys rely on accolades and accreditations to demonstrate their expertise, others frame themselves as authorities by behaving like one. In today's episode, https://www.linkedin.com/in/eliseholtzman/ (Elise Holtzman), a former practicing attorney and executive coach who founded The Lawyer's Edge, discussed how attorneys may increase their visibility in the legal and business communities, so they are not relegated to being a "best-kept secret." Elise explains what "raising your profile" entails and how it differs from merely engaging in marketing and promotion activities. She also discusses how lawyers may establish themselves as authorities without coming across as bragging or waiting years to gain expertise. Whether you are already engaging in activities that are helping to raise your profile as a lawyer, or are just getting started, this episode has all the answers to set you up for success or take your strategy to the next level. Fall is conference season for the legal industry, and this year it has been no exception. Conferences that have always had their events on the exact dates and places were back. Other well-established ones like Great Legal Marketing’s Heros and Icons were back as an in-person event. In this week’s conversation, Grace and Liel share their experiences attending two different legal conferences that took place at the same time, one in Las Vegas and one in Arlington, VA. At this point, you already know that third-party data is going away; as a matter of fact, it has already started to disappear. Privacy is at the center of the shift that search engines are implementing due to an increased demand from users to protect their personal information. But will users be willing to let go of search ads in favor of more privacy? How about paying $5 a month not having to see an ad in their search engine ever again? Companies like Neeva see a future in this trend, and while the company has a long way to go before they can make a complete case on why their platform can provide a better experience than Google, we already have a glimpse of how that looks. Contact IO is a conference held once a year in Denver, where marketers, call center operators, entrepreneurs, and technology leaders come together to discuss and explore the latest in telecommunications tech. Grace shares everything with us, from the conference experience, set-up, and exhibitor hall organization to the trending topics at the conference and what recommendations you should consider implementing for your law firm’s communications. And, if you ever answered a phone call from a local number only to realize the call was coming from a call center outside of your state and wonder why it is showing up as a local call, that is the result of a local presence configuration on their telephone system. How many times a day do you get spam calls on your personal or business line? The chances are that the answer to that question is more than one. One battle that Facebook has been unable to win is convincing users that their data tracking practices help businesses or users alike. It should come as no surprise since both Facebook and companies have been abusing this unrestricted access to user data to the point of alienating users away from the platform and turning against advertisers. With the arrival of iOS 14.5, Apple is handing back users control over their privacy, up to a certain extent. Users get to decide if they want Facebook to track them outside of their platform in other apps, and if you want to find out what the opt-in rates have been amongst iPhone users since tune in, you probably won't be surprised. While the impact of iOS 14.5 is limited to Apple users, its rollout is initiating an era that users are speaking out and putting privacy ahead of convenience. What is a lawyer to do in an industry set in old ways? Follow or disrupt. This week, we welcome https://www.linkedin.com/in/thealikatz/ (Ali Katz) from the New Law Business Model to discuss why the new model is the way forward. In our conversation, Ali shares her journey, graduating top of her class from Georgetown University Law Center. She quickly became disillusioned with the legal industry's status quo in the late 90s, and that drove her to, against all odds, reimagine the way law firms should be managed. Her model puts relationships before transactions, and no, Ali's legal services are not low bono; in fact, her firm under her new model was generating millions in just three years. In her new book, The New Law Business Model, Ali shares the lessons she learned along her journey and how you can also break with the old ways and use your law degree for the good of families, small businesses, and most importantly, your well-being. It seems that here at In Camera Podcast, we just can't get enough of talking about what the 2021 legal marketing scope will look like. And while some trends seem to be consistent and indisputable across different prediction lists, some others are debatable at best, and irrelevant at worst. This week we go over thehttps://attorneyatlawmagazine.com/9-legal-marketing-trends-for-law-firms-in-2021 ( 9 Legal Marketing Trends For Law Firms in 2021) according to Attorney At Law Magazine, who took it upon themselves to compile the ideas of attorneys and marketing professionals alike. Some of the trends discussed carry many potential and are worthy of consideration and implementation; others not so much. Send us your questions at ask@incamerapodcast.com Enjoy the show? As we approach the 2021 countdown and eagerly look at leaving behind the unpredictability of 2020, we reflect on the legal trends that got accelerated for better or worse in 2020 and are here to stay. Suppose you are one of the law firms that fell in love with video conferencing and remote working. In that case, we have some excellent news for you. A big part of your clients also did and will want you to continue doing it even after everything goes back to normal, and you can sit in front of someone in an enclosed space at a normal distance without wearing masks. Some argue that 2020 accelerated business and consumer behavior at a rate of 10 years in technological progress. And this has pushed law firms to reassess their entire client experience, team skills, organizational structure, and even considering creating whole new positions to adapt to a new type of business model that won’t be gone even after the NYE ball drops. https://www.americanlegalmagazine.com/5-trends-that-will-shape-legal-practices-in-2021/ (5 Trends That Will ShapeLegal Practices in 2021) by Sally Kane Send us your questions at ask@incamerapodcast.com Enjoy the show? One of the most controversial aspects of SEO is link building. While Google suggests that this should be an organic process, the reality has proven time and time again that to come across as authoritative to Google and other search engines, law firms need to work hard and spend big to generate links back to their website to stand out from the competition. http://linkedin.com/in/ryklein (Ryan Klein) from Market My Market joins Grace and Liel for a conversation on the value of backlinks and how to identify if a link is worth its asking price when a price is given. From finding valuable link opportunities within your network to auditing your competition and finding out who is linking back to them and why. This is a conversation about demystifying link building and putting into perspective how much value you can expect from certain links and how to prevent this from becoming a distraction of other more valuable and controllable elements in your SEO strategy.
