Happy 40th Anniversary to Jason Voorhees!
A little while ago, I decided to re-release older episodes that are uncut. Back when I first started podcasting, having sharp, finely trimmed episodes were all the rage. Since nothing is recorded that way, it needs to be edited. Now, everyone wants to hear everything about the interview, wrinkles and all. So, here are classic episodes of Classic American Movies: Uncut. Can you believe it's been four decades since “Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives” slashed its way into our hearts? When I first kicked off the podcast during the pandemic, I was interviewing legends left and right, but landing writer/director Tom McLoughlin was a total “pinch-me” moment! I’ll admit, my interview skills were a bit rough around the edges back then, but Tom was an absolute pro and on his A-game. It was such a treat to dive deep into the history and behind-the-scenes magic of this slasher classic.Ready for the ultimate fan experience? There’s a special Halloween screening happening this year at the actual camp where the movie was filmed! Don't lose your head—grab your tickets here

Uwe Boll is no stranger to controversy. I first heard of him about 20 years ago when he challenged his harshest critics to a boxing match. Well, he’s back in everyone’s sights with his latest film, Citizen Vigilante, due to it’s politically charging nature. Some recent interviews only focused on the politics. Others clearly never saw the movie and just wanted to attack him. However, I wanted to treat Uwe like how I would want to be treated and we just talked. Turns out he’s one of the nicest people I interviewed! Tune in as we discuss German food, bakeries, movies and more. Love him or hate him: Uwe Boll is always entertaining.

If you're interested in seeing Citizen Vigilante, it's available to rent on Amazon Prime right now.

I’m not a historian—I’m just a guy who loves movies—but I’ve got to say, this was an interesting ride. Before George Washington was the face on the dollar bill, he was a raw, unpolished surveyor-turned-commander taking an absolute ass-whipping from reality.
What I really dig about this is the way it was made. Angel Studios is giving the big Hollywood machines a run for their money with this crowdfunded, indie approach, and honestly? That’s the most punk rock thing I’ve seen in cinema in years.
Is it perfect? No. There are some noticeable issues with the sound and the AI-generated battle scenes, which I definitely have some thoughts on. But it’s never boring, and it gives you a gritty, human look at the pre-legend era of American history that you just don’t see often. If you’re looking for a patriotic flick that doesn’t just rehash the same old textbook stories, this is worth the ticket price.

It’s been 26 years since Jackass first hit our screens, and I can’t believe we’re here. From the early days of Big Brother magazine to the insanity of Jackass: Best and Last, this group of idiots turned "getting the crap kicked out of each other" into an art form.
They weren't just stuntmen; they kickstarted the DIY approach to entertainment that defines a generation. Whether you grew up watching them on MTV or you're just discovering the legacy, Best and Last feels like waiving goodbye to an old friend. I
t’s finite, it’s funny, and yes, it’s a bit teary-eyed to see the crew hang it up.Critics are calling it a "fearless kind of genius" and honestly, they're not wrong. If you loved the show, the movies, and the chaos, you owe it to yourself to see this in theaters.

Forget the swashbuckling, tights, and the lighthearted folk hero we grew up with. This isn't the Errol Flynn classic. We’re looking at an aging, broken Hugh Jackman trying to survive in a medieval world that is, frankly, just as brutal as you’d imagine. It’s dark, it’s dirty, and it’s arguably the only "revisionist" film lately that doesn't feel like a total slog. It trades the myth for the man—a guy haunted by a lifetime of violence and just looking for a way out.
It’s a far cry from the Saturday matinee legends, but if you’re tired of the swapping, hollow reboots, this might be the gritty, honest look at the character you didn't know you needed.

I’m back from the Underground Film Festival in Orlando, fresh from wining best feature script and I’m ready to talk about He-Man! Masters of the Universe is the best movie no one is watching in the theaters and I’m ready to talk about it. After Mattel missed the opportunity to make Star Wars toys, they were ready to try something fresh (well, kinda). The toys were a massive success, as well as the cartoon, which all quickly fell apart. Smash cut to 40 years later, Mattel is hot off of their success with Barbie and are ready to try another toy. Sadly, this one doesn’t have the same momentum. After listening to the pod, check out the blog at www.ClassicAmericanMovies.com ! If you haven’t seen Backrooms (2026) yet, you’re missing out on one of the most intriguing horror experiences in recent years. Directed by Kane Parsons, this film takes the viral creepypasta concept and turns it into a dread-filled, must-watch nightmare.
With an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes and a massive box office draw, it’s proof that original, low-budget storytelling is becoming the future of film.

“The Killing Cell” is an awesome found footage film that’s been tearing up the festival circuit with awards and nominations! Writer/director/producer and actor Karsen Schovajsa and his crew pulled together a nostalgic horror flick that captures the same eerie energy as “Hell House LLC” and “Grave Encounters.” I was lucky enough to check out a screener, absolutely loved it, and had to bring Karsen onto the podcast to talk all about the making of this soon-to-be cult hit! Make sure to follow TheKillingCellMovie, DeadRenegadeFilms, ScreenSanctity (James Bessey, co-director)and Karsen_Thomas3 for updates on the film.

This podcast contains light spoilers
If you miss the era of grimy 2000’s horror movies with practical effects, real locations, and wild behind-the-scenes stories, you should check out Passenger. Watching it felt like stumbling onto a lost horror flick from 20 years ago. Then while the credits were rolling, I spotted a familiar name — my old friend Coalin Smith as the 2nd AD. Naturally, I texted him immediately and asked if he wanted to come on the podcast to talk about what it was actually like making it … and thankfully, he said yes. So after my review, stick around for stories from behind the camera. Honestly, the behind-the-scenes stories might be just as entertaining as a movie itself.

It feels nice to finally have the podcast studio up and running. For my first film, I’m covering Curry Barker’s Obsession. Since seeing his first film, Milk & Serial , I knew Barker was someone special. What he can create with no money is amazing and I’ve said numerous times that if given the budget, he would be the next big name. Well, with about $750k, he made one kick ass horror flick.

As renovations are nearing their end, I figured I would release another un-cut episode! Arguably one the biggest name in zombie history, John A Russo is one of the last people alive who co-created “Night of the Living Dead.” I was head over heels listening to his stories, and I could have gone on for hours, but sadly, John only gave me 30 mins. This interview took a political turn that didn’t make the original cut, and listeners have noted that out convo ends abruptly. But, that’s how it was! Although the story of “Night” has been told thousands of times, this is the first time I have ever heard it first hand and I’ll cherish this memory forever. Check out some uncut Classics, and soon I’ll be dropping new episodes.

Since I’m building my podcast studio, I’ve decided to unearth some old interviews and release them unedited. The Chiodo Bro’s were interviewed on June 23, 2020 and it truly was a lot of fun. Like a lot of people in their 40’s and older, I grew up watching “Klowns,” “Ernest Scared Stupid” and “Critters,” so this was like interviewing my childhood icons. The brothers talk in-depth about the history of the Klowns, and where all their inspirations come from. I had a lot of technical difficulties recording this episode, so I had to hack out the first 10 mins, but eventually it all worked out. At the time, there was no talk about a “KIller Klowns” reboot or sequel. So some of the information which is stated has changed.

I had interviewed Mark Jones on June 15, 2020. During the pandemic, nearly every filmmaker I reached out to was eager to talk and loved the idea of the podcast. Mark Jones was one of my first interviews and after sending him an e-mail, he agreed to come on the pod. Although he was well known in the cult world, few really knew how much of a genius he was or know of his cultural impact. At the time of the interview, there was no talk of a “Leprechaun” 4K release, or a blu-ray stacked with special features and Jones explained to me that he had piles of unreleased footage, bloopers screen tests and more! All that was needed was demand from the fans and encouragement from podcasters. Jones was one of my favorite interviews and I re-released the episode every year around St. Patrick’s Day for everyone to pair with “Leprechaun.” Unlike previous releases, this one will be unedited so everyone can enjoy it in its entirety. After the episode aired, he wrote to me saying he loved it and encouraged me to keep interviewing and follow my passion. Rest In Peace , Mark. Your work was loved by generations and influenced many horror movie fans.

Predator: Badlands has hit the theater world hard and all the critics love it. What’s the catch? Well, there’s not a lot going on other than cool gadgets and some jokes. Even though the action packed flick promised a good time, I felt like it was blah ride into a by-the-books Disney-bought IP. Ho-hum.

Yorgos Lanthimos has a new movie dropping and this time Emma Stone isn’t naked. Bugonia is a solid flick that relies heavily on the actors and light on the plot, so much so I was interested in how the movie interested me so much. Jesse Plemmons plays Teddy, a tin foil hat guy who listens to too much Joe Rogan and is convinced Michelle (Stone) is an alien who wants to eliminate the human race, one bee colony at a time. Is Teddy nuts or is Michelle not who the world thinks she is? Lanthimos delivers the goods with this remake of a 2003 Korean flick that had me guessing till the end.

Today is my birthday! To celebrate, I’m going to do a podcast on something I’ve wanted to do for a long time: Comparing the novel to the film of a movie I like. Now, I know that I've been pretty critical of Stephen King’s IT in other podcasts, but to be honest, it wasn’t until I read the novel (or rather listened to the audiobook) that I really loved the story. After talking to a million people about the differences and similarities (online and in person), I figured I would go ahead and make a podcast on it.
Now, there’s hundreds, if not thousands of blogs, pods and vlogs on the subject, so I’m not going to sound like I’m breaking the mold. But, I did have a lot of fun doing research and it’s MY birthday! There's tons of things I left out, and things I should have said but didn't, but that's how podcasting works: You can't win them all.
Enjoy! Also … Happy Halloween!!

All actors will want to listen to this episode: Growing up in Long Valley, NJ, Brett was encouraged to pursue his dreams, and pursue he did! Residing within driving distance of New York City, he sought after theater, became a professional tap dancer and theater acting before making his move to Los Angeles by the age of 19. Over the years, he’s enhanced his craft to include a professional actor, producer and director, with hundreds of credits. With his company LA Reels, he and his former business partner created one of the first demo reel companies (shooting original content for actors’ reels, filming over 4000 scenes in the last 12 years). Now, he’s developed a site to help actors rehearse with an AI partner 24/7, called RehearseNow.Ai . The site allows actors to upload their script and choose an AI rehearsal partner to go over the scene with and the partner responds in real time. I was actually talking about something like this with a friend of mine and Brett had already created it, so I had to bring him on to hear more about this. We talk a lot about movies, the future of filmmaking and more!
From October 5th-25th, RehearseNow.AI is running a contest The A.I. Scene Partner Challenge in which actors submit their best audition using www.RehearseNow.AI . Scripts will be provided by LA Reels. Top 10 Actors chosen will do a meet and greet with three professional casting and the top actor chosen wins $1000! Use the code “Classic” to use the service free for a month!

I came across Grazia’s masterpiece of cinema Body Odyssey and was immediately blown away. The story, the acting and everything was like if David Lynch and David Cronenberg made a film about female body building. I know how that sounds and, I had to have her on the pod to talk. Because I was part of multiple people interviewing her, I only had 20 mins to chat, but, as you could tell I could easily talk for another hour. What in the name of Tubi Original’s is this? Just when you thought Flight Risk was the biggest stinker of the year, Trust says “Hold my beer!” Sophie Tuner’s latest movie about disgusting men grooming children in the film industry to lure them into sexual relationships is getting the thumbs down from almost all critics. Why? Well, because no one sees that part in the movie and are too busy focussed on all the silly aspects of it like the logistics of how doors work and rats carrying hammers. I wish that was a joke.

Wow! This movie was bad. Has it been 28 years since the original I Know What You Did Last Summer? Well, the movie I thought was going to be the hit of the summer turns out to be a giant stinker filler with unlikable characters, dumb dialogue (even for slashers) and dumber situations. The whole Summer is a mess of a movie and although I hate talking bad about movies, it’s impossible with this one.

If you’ve seen a movie in the last month, or have used an Apple product, then you’ve seen the trailer for “F1: The Movie”. I’m going to be honest and say that I didn’t have much hope for this. Brad Pitt as an aging driver showing a young hotshot (Damson Idris) the ropes on professional F1 Driving didn’t scream excitement for me. However, I was wrong! This movie with the tired trope of “passing the torch to the younger generation” was exactly what I needed in ta movie right now. Combine that with razor sharp cinematography and a fun soundtrack and you have a kick ass time in the theaters!

Growing up in the late 80’s and early 90’s, everyone was in love with Cannon and Carolco movies. It’s been 23 years since 28 Days Later and 18 years since 28 Weeks Later; does the franchise have anything left in it? Well, I thought so!
Instead of a zombie flick, writer Alex Garland crafted a very in-depth look at the rite of passage in society and having to do the right thing even when you’re not old enough to comprehend what that means. I bet you didn't see that coming!

Welcome to the mini pods, where it’s just me (Chris) talking about my thoughts on a new movie. Usually the pods have more in-depth research, these are more just like me and minor research.
Karate Kid is back and more kung fu-er than ever! Why is this about kung fu and not karate? Well .. you saw the remake, yeah? Anyways, kind of a strange installment in the Kid franchise that doesn’t really use the characters as much as they should and really doesn’t explore the big tournament like one would expect. The love interest is there, as well as her dad, a tutor and a pizza shop. Although I love seeing Jackie Chan and anything Karate Kid related, this movie left me empty and confused.

It’s been 14 years since the last Final Destination flick and does this franchise still have life left? Are the deaths as gross and fun as before or did we finally reach our destination? Well, I really liked it and think everyone who wants to relax and have a fun time at the theaters (how long has it been since we did that?) to go see Final Destination: Bloodlines as soon as possible! The 90’s were such a wonderful time for horror. 1996 In particular really kickstarted a new wave of horror, especially the rebirth of slashers. Yes, we all know Scream but there was firehose of teens getting butchered in the late 90’s to 2000’s and Urban Legend was one of the most memorable ones starring a who’s who of teen icons! Friend of the pod (and good friend of mine) Clay joins me to discuss real Urban Legends, working on film sets, other movies and so very much more! The Surfer is one of those movies that comes around once in a few years that seems like it is a basic thriller but has so much more going on. Straight out of Dublin, Ireland, Director Lorcan Finnegan and writer Thomas Martin craft a thriller that moves towards midnight dark comedy about The Surfer (Nicolas Cage) who desperately wants to buy his childhood home on a beach in Australia. Locals aren't thrilled about this and thus the psychedelic deep search for sanity begins. I loved it and am encouraging everyone to see it as soon as they can.

Frequent guest and friend of the pod, Ryan "Burger" McCurdy wrote and directed a wonderful throwback to detective flicks called “Pears”. The movie was made in his hometown in Evansville, Indiana and I loved it! To celebrate it’s release on Tubi, I had Burger back on the pod to chat about the making of it. Stanford teacher Shannon Pufhal’s debut novel about 1950’s America and the restraints on being gay was raved in the LA Times as being “a remarkable spell. [She] embraces noir’s mood while weaving in a love story,” by Mark Athitakis. Other reviewers found the novel so boring and bland they had to read the bulk of it in one sitting because they couldn't fathom picking it up again.
The movie version lies somewhere in the middle. I felt the characters had no arcs, motivations were out the window and when things go bad, the response is “What can I do? Amiright?” However, the costumes were amazing and it had decent acting, given the dialogue was all over the place.
“Horses” is a film that wants to explore the restrictions of being gay in a straight, conservative world, but feels more like a hangout flick where the characters rarely come in conflict. They never come to a conclusion, or if they do, it doesn’t make sense.

Christopher Landon's latest flick is the trailer you've seen if you've been to the theaters in the last month. In fact, the running joke on Reddit is the trailer for Drop should show before the actual movie that way we can get the full circle experience. I'm not going to lie: I was pretty convinced the movie either: A) Didn't exist or B) Was a real stinker. Turns out I was wrong on both counts!
Since this is a mini pod, the episode is me talking about my thoughts on the film and doing some light info with ciritic reviews. I felt like doing these, because there were certain movies I would watch and deem them necessary of having more than just a written review. Enjoy!

The movie that is making some noise at the indie level is about the scandal that rocked 1984: Michael Larson took on Press Your Luck and walked away with $110,237 (roughly $339,000) in cash and prizes! Although the movie has a fun idea, there really isn't enough meat on the bones of this, but I still wanted to talk about it.
Join in the fun as I talk about 1984, the culture of the time and what led to Larson never landing on the dreaded whammy in his 47 spins!

Magazine Dreams is the movie that you’ve likely never heard of but should watch. Way back in 2023, Jonathan Majors put his heart into a performance and very soon after its premiere, it was discovered that Majors was abusing his girlfriend. Dreams was quietly shoved to the side, and given back to the filmmakers, however, it was released to the public and I thought it was really good. So good, it deserved its own mini review!
Despite what he was convicted of, there’s no denying that Majors gave an oscar-caliber performance as Killian Maddox, a young man who has severe mental disorders, outbursts of rage but has the dream of being the bodybuilder that everyone idolizes. He fashions himself after Brad Vanderhorn (four-time Mr. Universe, Micheal O’Hearn) pushes his mind and body to the breaking point but still believes he is going to make it. The movie is a dissent into Maddox’s insanity and what it means to shoot for your dreams when you really don’t understand the world you’re in. I really liked this movie and yeah, it has issues, but overall it’s the best movie in theaters right now and I encourage everyone to check it out.

Last time I talked with indie filmmaker James Edwards (“Her Name is Christa”) he said Trivial was in production hell. Well, he finished it and it’s now making the rounds to various festivals and I was blessed enough to check it out! I always love talking with film nerds, so having James back (and will gladly have him back anytime) was a no-brainer. Trivial was a great horror flick with a bar trivia twist with grisly special effects and fun characters.

As crazy as it may sound, Snow White is the most controversial movie of the year. It's been getting a lof of bad press, bad feedback and so far not doing so well at the box office. I wasted no time going to the theater to check it out and give my thoughts.

After writing out some of my reviews on Instagram, I felt that some movies deserved a longer conversation, so I gave it one! These are the mini episodes, mainly focussed on new (or at least released in the last few months) that I would normally write about, but felt like talking about. These pods won't be as long or have as much info as the larger episodes, but you'll get my opinion on them and a little background.
Opus hit theaters March 14th, and I checked out the thriller from A24. The lackluster reviews don't make the film seem promising, but it does have a nice "celebrity cult vs investigative journalist" feel to it. I tried my best not to spoil it.

Kashmiri filmmaker Arfat Sheikh began his long career at the age of 16 as a radio jockey for Radio Kashmir. Because he could speak English, this opened doors for him to pursue narration and film. Over many years this led him to Atlanta, to make Saffron Kingdom, a film that brought to light major issues that occurred in Kashmir. Although I worked on the movie, like most Americans, I had never heard of Kashmir. This is one of the most informative interviews I’ve ever done, and I was thrilled to have Arfat tell me about a culture that I didn’t know existed.

Garrett Batty has had a life long love of filmmaking. Starting literally as far back as he can remember. Growing up in Park City, UT, he was exposed to all the classics like “Star Wars” “Back to the Future” and “Indiana Jones” and he wanted to do that. In 2009 he finally got the chance to make his dreams come true with the low budget “Scout Camp” and he never looked back. Creating his own style of faith-based films, Batty crafted some seriously good movies that don’t come off religious but more as a good movie with a good story. His latest film “Faith of Angels” had me intrigued with the unbelievable storyline, fantastic acting and sharp directing style that made hooked from the start. Along with Batty, I got the chance to interview Joshua Dennis, the boy (now a man) who gets lost in a cave, presumed dead and miraculously is found! I loved the movie and I’m looking forward to seeing more of Batty’s work in the future.

What do you do about the title of your movie when the person who owns the internet domain won’t sell? Well, you add “Dotcom” to your title!
Ryan McCurdy (of the Ranked) podcast is back to talk about a flick I still have the ticket for after seeing it in theaters 22 years ago! At the time, the internet was pretty unknown to the general public and the first thing filmmakers did was make a horror movie about it! I saw "feardotcom" when I was 18 and didn’t think about it since then. However, much like “Gothika,” I kept seeing the DVD at the Goodwill and thought it was time to talk about this nostalgic internet killer thriller. We talk about his early life, inspirations and his latest (as of the recording) movie “Tombstone Rashomon,” which is a retelling of the famous gunfight at the OK Corral, but from everyone’s perspective.

When I record a podcast, the majority of the time, I'll have the mics on and I'll chat with my guests for awhile about anything. I like to do this to loosen them up, feel at home and generally welcomed. Being on a podcast can be nerve racking and the last thing you want to do is sound stupid or come off in the wrong light.
So, what I have here is a compilation of clips from various guests that have come over and we talked. Not always about movies, but overall it was fun and interesting to re-listen to some of these forgotten gems.

Channeling the energy of creative geniuses like Sean Cunningham and Al Adamson, Baltimore indie filmmaker Shawn Wright is bringing back the sleazy gory horror films of yore with his production company FaceMelt Features. His first feature, “Night of the Axe” was a fun throwback to the 80’s slasher and his follow up “Spirit Board” (based on the Ouija horror films) is currently in preproduction. After chatting with Shawn, it’s very clear he has a promising future in horror films and I’m looking forward to seeing more of his work.

We're kicking the new year off with the movie that has explosions, stunts on stunts and as much fun as you would expect from Hall Needham and Burt Reynolds in the late 70's!
Friend of mine and fan of the pod, Cole was talking to me one day and was looking for a film recommendation. I asked what kinds of movies he liked. Action comedies with killer stunts ( I mean who doesn’t love that?) came up. You can’t go much further then the classic “Hooper” with a wonderful love letter to the stunt and film world from the legend himself, Hal Needham, when he and Burt Reynolds were at the height of their powers. So I brought Cole on the show to talk about it. Turns out he’s a huge Jan Micheal Vincent fan, so not only was this such a treat to watch, but a blast to research. Writer/director Marcus Albino, co-founder of Cloak and Cauldron Films and producer Brad Frizzell , founder of Greeked Pictures created this this great crime drama thats making a lot of buzz called “Black Maria.” Recently, it was nominated for "Best Short Film" at Shockfest. More Quentin Tarantino inspired films! “Truth or Consequences, NM” was one of those movies that flew under the radar due to a lot of 90’s classics being released at the same time. Critics really didn't like it, but audiences were split. At the time, "Austin Powers" was rocking the theatrical circuit (I still have my original ticket to when my mom took me) and TOCNM had a very limited release (reportedly, around seven theaters in America showed this for two weeks).
