Vivian Cumins is a writer, speaker, and podcast host of Juggling Life, Finding Balance who grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. She is also a career professional, a military spouse, a step-mom to two adult kids, and a “Glammy” to five grandkids.
Although her name means “LIVELY” Vivian admits she has not always felt lively. Her need to be perfect and in control led to an unbalanced lifestyle filled with work, self-inflicted stress and illness, depression, and anxiety.
In 2020, after years of striving and mental exhaustion, Vivian rededicated her life to the Lord and vowed to relinquish control and submit to God’s will. Her newfound faith and commitment were immediately put to the test when she had to trust God to provide healing from stage 3 melanoma.
Though this was a difficult time, Vivian claims she would not change a thing. That ‘wilderness’ season, she says, delivered her from a prideful spirit and set her free from captivity. It was also during this time that God began speaking to her in dreams. His voice and the challenges she faced taught her how to give up control and trust God, embrace imperfection, and recognize, then recalibrate, the unbalance in her life.
Today, Vivian not only shares her testimony of preparation and deliverance, but she also provides valuable lessons and helpful tips for actively seeking balance, which starts with making time for God, taking care of yourself, and sprinkling in some good old-fashioned fun.

Becky Beresford is the author of She Believed He Could, So She Did: Trading Culture's Lies For Christ-Centered Empowerment. She talks about stepping out of self-dependence that causes exhaustion, frustration, and confusion to a God-dependence that delivers freedom, confidence, strength, and peace.
Our culture has been lying to women. The world defines female empowerment as believing in yourself or looking within to find the power to succeed. But what happens when women grow weary from trying to do it all? Jesus offers a better way. Becky Beresford used to believe and even promoted some of society's lies to women. But in God's kindness, Becky came to the end of herself and embraced healing truth found in the Bible.
Tired and frustrated with self-dependence, Becky wants to be God-dependent. In She Believed HE Could So She Did, Becky invites you to join her as she dismantles commonly held misconceptions and lies so we can live in real freedom and godly confidence. This is a brave journey toward freedom as we learn to experience Christ-centered empowerment–not by believing in ourselves . . . but by trusting in our faithful God.
Becky devotes chapters to the most common messages promoted by our culture and gives readers dependable biblical truths grounded in the gospel:
Believe in Your God vs. Believe in Yourself
Speak THE truth vs. Speak Your Truth
Follow Your King vs. Follow Your Heart
You Be His vs. You Be You
The Future is Found Together vs. The Future is Female
And so much more!
Together we will discover how to rely on the Holy Spirit in order to battle cultural lies, put the enemy in his place, and live boldly for Jesus. We will be lifted of the burden to find strength in ourselves and reassured of the hope, joy, and power that comes from living in Christ. We don't have to be the savior of our own stories.

Sharon Jaynes, author of over twenty-five books and former VP of Proverbs 31 Ministries, is on the podcast today! She's here to talk about the power of a praying mom with her book Praying For Your Child From Head To Toe. This prayer book is unique as it guides us to pray through each body landmark. For example, our child's mind, eyes, mouth, shoulders, etc.. Sharon walks us through the purpose of prayer and how prayer is not a means of having control over our kids and making them into "mini me's" but giving them over to the Lord to mold and shape our kids the way He wants them to be.
There's no expiration for prayer, so for whatever age or stage your kids are in, this book is a powerful resource. Sharon also has one for praying head to toe over your husband and teachers. It's just about the most precious thing a person could experience, so listen till the end!

Does it feel like you're constantly struggling with worry? Worrying comes when we rely on ourselves to control the situation and not give it over to God. When we do this, the uncertainty of the future causes us to worry, disrupting our hope and peace. But the best part is that we belong to a God who is always in control, and we don't have to live in worry because He gives us the power to overcome it!
Keri Eichberger is the author of Win over Worry: Conquer What Shakes You and Soar With The One Who Overcomes. She shares her story of battling worry and how she unlearned the unhealthy patterns that produce worry. We talk about identifying worry, uprooting worry, releasing control, and using our God-given warrior weapons to banish the enemy of worry. Worrying is a pointless attempt to control the uncontrollable, and thank goodness we have God's sovereignty over every detail of our lives!

Podcaster of "Love Where You Are" Somer Colbert talks about when we've been hurt, rejected, and forgotten inside the four walls of church. Somer shares on how to heal when we've experienced mistreatment from believers and gain a biblical perspective to not let unforgiveness hold us back from doing the work God has set before us. One of the points she talks about is the danger of when church becomes tribalism. It's not about being loyal to a tribe, it's about serving and worshipping the Lord and treating others based on what scripture says. Somer says, "If being hurt by the church causes you to lose faith in God then your faith was in people not God." This is so true and there are many that have been wounded in the church, but God never wants us to stay in that place. He desires us to look to Him to make our heart whole again and know this is an attempt by the enemy to destroy unity among God's people.

Hey Friend, I know this isn't the typical first episode for the beginning of a new year, but I wanted you to know that if you're in a season of, "God, where are you?" You are not alone. Sometimes our disappointments in life can lead us to a place where God's presence feels miles away. We struggle to understand why and our confusion produces more sorrow.
God placed it on my heart to kick-off the year of She Speaks Life podcast with a testimony I went through late last year. There will be times where God seems silent and maybe like me it was during doubt, dejection, and discouragement. I found that it's more about trusting God's presence rather than feeling His presence and that my faith pleases God more than feelings. It is praising Him through the hurt and clinging to His promises even when nothing makes sense. I hope that this testimony brings you encouragement that whenever you feel knocked down, He is faithful and He will always lift you up.
I can't wait to bring you stories for your 2022!
The intersection between faith and story is your testimony! We learn through testimonies that we are not alone with our ups and downs in life and God’s faithfulness gets us through even the worst days. Each episode is an invitation to see God’s goodness and shift our perspective to see Him in every circumstance. Inside every story of hardship, we'll hear that He is trustworthy and Jesus is the only Way, Truth, and Life!
