In Episode 200, Andy & Dave delve into the last 4 1/2 years of the Tuesday Tune-In since our very first episode in March 2020 (Sure there was something going on then).

The guys chat about some of their favourite episodes and all the good stuff that's happened in the EverTrekker community on the podcast ever since. We never thought we'd make 100 episodes let alone 200 so we're really proud and privileged to serve our listeners with, hopefully, some useful info over the years and we can't wait to do 200 more!

It was a great live with lots of good questions and I hope you enjoy this week's episode.

In Episode 199, Andy & Dave delve into the recent unprecedented weather & rain in Nepal during the start of the autumn trekking season. The guys go into the challenges of running trips during these crazy weather events and the good, the bad and the ugly of delays in the mountains.

There were some really sad scenes in Kathmandu and many homes and villages were destroyed by this crazy amount of rain within a short space of time. It certainly put things into perspective when running trips in remote regions of the world and the guys chat about what happens when these events occur from an expedition management point of view but also how as a trekker or climber, ways you can get through this too.

It was a great live with lots of good questions and I hope you enjoy this week's episode.

In Episode 198, Andy & Dave delve into those tough moments on a challenge or trek when things get just that little bit tough. You know the times when you've hit that 10ft high wall and it doesn't seem like there's any way over it. Until that is, you smash through it and reach the other side!

It was a great live with lots of good questions about things like how to dig deep when things do get tough, also discussions on pre-trip anxiety, and how to prepare for your first altitude trek.

In Episode 197, weโ€™re celebrating 8 incredible years of EverTrek adventures! Itโ€™s been an amazing journey since we first started, and we took some time to reflect on how it all began, with our very first trip to Everest Base Camp in September 2016. That trek was the start of something special, and in this weeks episode we talk about the first journey, the most recent and more or less everything in between!

A huge part of what makes EverTrek so special is our EverTrekker community. We've been so lucky to learn so much from those whoโ€™ve joined us on treks over the years, and it's that community spirit that continues to shape how we approach every adventure. We couldnโ€™t be more grateful for the camaraderie, insights, and friendships we've built through our trips.

This episode is all about looking back at the past 8 yearsโ€”full of stories, lessons, and a lot of personal growth for us and the EverTrek family.

In our experience over the years and from our EverTrekkers experiences, we have gained quite a bit of insight into what works and what doesn't work at altitude. We also held a really enjoyable live training last Wednesday evening on Kilimanjaro and suffering with altitude issues was the Number 1 question or concern thing that came up when attendees were asked about the trip.

So in this ep we share 7 of the Must Do's to succeed in getting to places like Everest, Kilimanjaro or Machu Picchu. As well as that we take on everything trekking and altitude-related as always and take on 5 altitude myths. 1๏ธโƒฃ2๏ธโƒฃ3๏ธโƒฃ4๏ธโƒฃ5๏ธโƒฃ

Welcome to a new episode of the Mountain Malarkey Podcast!

In the latest of our special guest episode, Andy and Dave are joined by Martin and Dave from Brecon Mountain Rescue. They have over 55 years of mountain rescue experience between them that they share in this special podcast episode.

EverTrek is proud to be partners with Brecon Mountain Rescue for almost two years, donating every time someone books a trip and supporting this vital charity.

Join us as we chat about:

  • How both Martin and Dave became volunteers at Brecon Mountain Rescue and what the job is really like.
  • The humble beginnings of Brecon Mountain Rescue and the realities of going from a couple of calls a year in the 1960s to an average of two calls a week now.
  • Martin and Dave share the three things you need to do to stay safe on your treks - even if you think you know the route like the back of your hand.
  • The tech you need on every trek
  • Why โ€˜easierโ€™ routes can create more call-outs because of complacency
  • Why they need to raise ยฃ55k a year to operate - even though everyone in BMR is a volunteer
  • Brecon Mountain Rescue Projects and why these are much needed so the team can continue to help people in remote areas.
  • Why a dog can save your life (and help donations)
  • Plus, why some of their rescue work doesnโ€™t always take place in the mountains.

Going on a trek isn't just about getting from A to B and back again. Imagine if Frodo and Samwise went on a bimble to Mordor and back, meeting no one on the way? It wouldn't make for an adventure. And without a guide, they'd probably get lost along the way. Having a local guide is more than taking you on the journey, it's sharing their knowledge and experience of the landscape, learning about the cultures, and supporting the local economy. They are the Gandalf to your Frodo (okay, no more Lord of the Rings references, promise). The Power of the Guides We've had questions from in the Facebook group like: - Do you use a trip leader on the treks? - When do we get to meet our guides? - Why do you not go on the treks with us? One of the questions we get a lot in the group is what it's going to be like when you're on a trek and we thought the best way to answer is to show you. Live from Toubkal - Celebrating 100 episodes We've had questions from in the Facebook group like: What can I expect on the trip? How fit do I need to be and what training can I do? Itโ€™s the 14th episode in the first season of the Mountain Malarkey podcast and this episode follows on from our 2 part Kilimanjaro podcast which we recorded this time last year. In Kilimanjaro Podcast - Revisited, our Yetis Andy and Dave chat about the trek to the summit of Kili whilst listening to some of the recordings from the mountain itself and revisiting the moments from that trip before Covid arrived.ย

Some things the guys discuss:

  • How difficult summit night is and how to prepare for it.

  • A few of their personal highlights of the climb.

  • What using Diamox is really like from our Painted Yeti Dave.

Itโ€™s a cracker of an episode but do watch out for a few cursory words from the guys on the summit of Kilimanjaro.

If you want to view the trek and download the complete guide hereโ€™s the link discussed in the episode - http://bit.ly/evertrekkiliguide

As mentioned in the podcast episode here is the link to the awesome video - Kilimanjaro - The Long Way - https://youtu.be/ldFkRd-nPYo
