This week Kevin sits down with the Bearded Baker - Nate Clingman. Kevin and Nate talk about Nate's experience on the Food Network show "Martha Stewart's Bake Away Camp" that Nate won, Kevin's Wheel of Fortune experience, and doing the things you love.
Today’s guests are two members from the For Nolensville PAC: Robert Verell and Daniel Hadaway. We had a great conversation about what brought the For Nolensville Group together, what they are trying to accomplish, and what the proposed Charter change actually means to Nolensville.
Kevin sits down with the two candidates for the Williamson County Board: Dr. Margie Johnson and Jennifer Aprea. I was impressed with the experience and passion that each of them bring to this election. I am more impressed with the courage both of them have to make a difference where it matters, in our own backyard. We discussed bullying, inequality, and what makes each of them the best candidate. The only thing I can say after this interview is that the voters have a tough decision on who to vote for. As in life, there are winners and losers. Fortunately, in this election I think the students and families of district five will come away victorious with either of these great candidates.
Kevin sits down with Javon Poe. Javon is one of the speakers at the Nolensville March for equality. This interview came together very quickly and had a unique spin on it. First of all, the podcast by design doesn't get into politics or religion, I wanted to talk about things that unite rather than divide us. While at the same time bring positivity to the world, as idealistic as it sounds. That is not to say that I don't want to have critical and crucial conversations. The flow of this conversation, as we delve into what makes us similar and unique at the same time, was great. I never spoke to Javon prior to recording this episode, so it took some time for us to warm up to each other, but once we did the conversation that flowed was enlightening and nuanced about race in America. And because it is a sensitive topic, Javon and I both ask for your grace and understanding that we are both trying to do the best we can with the tools that we have. I feel it is with conversations like this that will allow us to get to know our neighbors better and remove that divide that seems to grow every day.
Kevin sits down with the Chief of the Nolensville Volunteer Fire Department. We talk about what it's like to know what you want when you grow up and pursuing that with a passion. Adam Spencer became a junior firefighter at the age of 14 after he wrote a letter to a local fire chief offering to live in the new firehouse if they built one. We talk about what it takes to become a first responder, what it's like to be the first person on the scene when people need the most help, and what it means to have a Volunteer fire department for a town like Nolensville.
Kevin sits down with the Nolensville Insider - Mike Luszczek. Mike and his family moved a couple of years ago from the Chicago area and chose Nolensville to raise their family. In the past five years, Nolensville has grown tremendously, and Mike took that opportunity to write about the happenings at City Hall. He started to ask questions, but more importantly, he started to get a voice that couldn't be ignored. We talk about how his blog came about, the moment that he knew he had to move here, and the joys of cooking.
In this episode, I sit down with my friend and Yoga Instructor Kristin Gore. We talk about life and where the magic happens. We discuss how she got into yoga and her teaching style. We also talk about how life doesn't hand us the deck that we expected, but it is up to us to figure out how to make the best of it. We also review our own quarantine experiences and what it is like to try to raise $50,000 during a lockdown for a charity that is near and dear to Kristin. Enjoy!
