Welcome to Vancouver - the home of the X-Files. Join us as we take a journey from pilot to finale, complete with improv, shipping, and lots of singing!
Y'all...It's our last episode. We can't believe we've come to this point, but we can't thank you, our listeners and community, enough for keeping us "on the air." In this episode, you'll hear a special interview with Taylor (co-founder of the podcast!) where we reminisce about the beginnings of NAXFPP. You'll hear clips and messages from listeners and Philes that remind us why we actually did this. Carolyn shares her Top 5 Shipping Moments (ship, ship, hooray!) and both Vanessa and Carolyn lead you in song about the podcast (because we're just that meta) and the X-Files. There may also be some tears. Make sure to still follow us on social media and see our merch at http://linktr.ee/notanotherxfpod - we'll make sure to post X-Files content on and off!
Happy holidays! We're back for our (probably, most likely) last Holiday Spectacular, to cover the Netflix movie "Love Hard." But what is a Holiday Spectacular without X-Files carols and a 13-part NAXFPP advent calendar? Listen to find out what's behind all the little cardboard doors!
Listeners, we do indeed love you hard. We're thankful for all the years of downloads and support, for sticking with us through our bad jokes and silliness. What a ride it's been! We have at least one more episode up our sleeve in the new year, so you're not rid of us just quite yet.

Part 2 of our coverage of The X-Files movie I Want to Believe. This week Carolyn and Vanessa talk two headed animals, Skinner being everyone's dad, rap songs about murder and of course the winning equation of: Mulder + Scully - a bee = THE scene we want in an X-Files movie. Remember to subscribe on your favorite podcast app and follow us on social media to see what we are up to next!
It's us, the uncool podcasters! We've finally made it to I Want to Believe! We're a little undecided on the movie - we like some parts and don't like others, but of course, we make sure to ship because we finally can again, and make the most of it, because we'll never sneeze at more X-Files content. On this episode, we talk about the Collection and get to the real juicy stuff: Replacing a bad addiction with an X-Files addiction, what their favourite pieces in the Collection are, and one of the most important questions: Are they shippers???

Remember 2017? It was the year that Trump was inaugurated, the US national anthem protests in the NFL, and major wildfires scorched the globe...But it was also the year we covered the Lone Gunmen series! (Not that we're trying to take the importance away from those other events!) To wrap it up, we went out of order in classic NAXFPP style and covered 915. Jump the Shark as a goodbye to our unlikely heroes, and we are re-releasing it as we come to this point in our season 9 re-watch. Enjoy!

We're back, and this time, Carolyn doesn't have to worry about her pronunciation of this episode! Look, we're not against UFO cults, but it's not really what we want either. Not to mention, there's so much Bible, and conspiracy, and prophecy, and so little time. We condensed it into just under an hour for ya! Oh, and Brad Follmer, we can't believe how much we hate you. Nothing Important Happened Today II. Too? Also. Something like that.
Well, the most important thing to happen to you today is this podcast! (Come on, it’s 2020, let us have it, at least for the length of this episode.) In this episode, you’ll hear wild theories about super soldiers, how they factor into Scully’s birth, our wish for loose ends to be tied, and we ask if there even is an HR in this part of the FBI?
It would be SO important to us if you would follow us on our social media! You can find all of our social media links, PLUS our new merch (just in time for the holidays!) at http://linktr.ee/notanotherxfpod
Dear Diary, something important happened today--we started Season Nine! Carolyn and Vanessa are so excited to embark on this journey. We've come a long way, Baby William! It’s our 5th annual Halloween Spooktacular! (Or should we call it our Spooptacular this year?) Jeff Gulka is back to tell us all about what he’s been up to in the past 3 years (!!!) since we first had him on the podcast. He tells us his opinion of season 11 (it might surprise you), and then we dive into the witch’s cauldron and talk all things Halloween! What’s he doing for Halloween 2020? What was his favourite costume as a kid? And can he watch scary movies alone?
Carolyn also quizzes Vanessa on Halloween trivia, and Vanessa quizzes Carolyn in a more “meta” manner. Plus, spooky intermission music by Deuxvolt!
Other music by Lemon Yellow Hayes and Haunted Corpse from the Free Music Archive. Sound effects from freesoundeffects.com

In this, the essence of the X-Files, we find Mulder musing about the beginnings of life and an epic Stephen King assessment of the X-Files mythology. Who doesn't love a little Halloween in April? We reached into our vault and pulled out a "blast from the past" - our coverage of season 8, episode 10, "Badlaa," which we covered for our bonus Halloween Spooktacular in 2017! Enjoy all the "butt stuff" again! Here's the description from the first time we released it:
"It's the 2017 Halloween Spooktacular! No but(t)s about it, this episode is full of 'butt stuff!' We're tackling 'Badlaa,' X-Files season 8, episode 10, for some ooky, spooky Halloween fun. In this episode, Vanessa and Carolyn cover what's problematic (surprised?) and wonder 'how do you not do all the bodily function jokes?' (the answer is: you don't NOT do the bodily function jokes, you do ALL the bodily function jokes). Find out who created a product called 'Midnight Abductee' (the answer won't surprise you), and Around Vancouver gets ghost- and murder-y!

This week, our intrepid co-hosts Vanessa and Carolyn embark on a discussion about Gulf War Syndrome right from the get-go, then launch into the lack of Scully's involvement in this episode (though we always love a Sculltopsy!) and other fun topics such as what Carolyn would do if she turned into metal. Then this episode about an X-Files episode with a typical ending ends with a typical NAXFPP ending! Does that make sense? No? Well, we tried.

It's the first episode without Mulder, and we're bummed about that, but we still try to make the most of it. Scully and Doggett are trying to figure out how they work together - and so are we. Amidst an X-File that didn't really entertain us that much, we talk about how Scully and Doggett's relationship is shaping up, whether or not Doggett is good looking (for some reason, we're not sure), and we talk a lot about bats! This episode sure is batty, so make sure to listen!

The first rule of NAXFPP Fight Club is always talk about Fight Club with your trusted hosts and guides, Carolyn and Vanessa! The second rule is don't ask too many questions... This week we cover that contentious episode that has us seeing double! Also discussed: the wild wild west of the early 2000's, cardboard cutouts, and luchadors--it was quite a ride! So snuggle up with your evil twin and download today!

We've popped our popcorn and are settling in for another X-Files episode! Carolyn and Vanessa are joined by Katie, co-host of TFGIF Podcast (which is one big 90s moment!). In this episode, you'll find out the method Carolyn used to watch the X-Files in high school with her best friend, Katie gets gossipy about Téa Leoni and David Duchovny's at-home rehearsals for this episode, and the girls throw shade at the episode's computer animation. Plus, they gush over Chuck and speculate what Mulder and Scully would do with Skinner's credit card for a night in LA.

This episode is lit! We're talking about an episode that is very "on brand" for the X-Files - in season 3, that is. This episode-that-doesn't-seem-to-belong-in-season-7 covers all the most important topics (sarcasm?): Anti-smoking campaigns of the 90s, "smoky" production style, and the lack of Mulder and Scully bedside scenes. So, light up not a cigarette, but something less dangerous, maybe a candle?...and download this episode to feed your X-Files addiction!

Of ALL the THINGS you have to do today, make downloading this episode top of your list! This week Carolyn and Vanessa welcome back friend of the show, Darren Mooney from the m0vie blog, to talk about ALL THINGS Scully! Can we convert him from his Shipping-agnostic ways? Well, maybe not, but at least we will have a good time trying!
Darren puts his thoughts on movies and tv shows out there for you to marvel at and enjoy! Check out his award-winning blog at them0vieblog.com
This week, we're covering an episode that even made Carolyn scream once! Carolyn and Vanessa discuss housewifeyness, horrible science experiments to create chimera, and look at where chimera and ravens show up in mythology. (P.S. That voice you hear in the background is the original creator of the podcast, Taylor...We didn't know we'd have a guest, but he wanted to chime in so badly...)

Friend or Enemy? It's a definite X-File! Carolyn and Vanessa do a deep dive into this episode with its many twists, turns, and Scullys in a lake. Our daring podcast hosts wade through the misinformation in an episode filled with questions: What does CSM want? Will he stop at nothing to get it? Why do we have to keep watching men take advantage of our female protagonist? How do we keep shipping through it all? When will we get back to our segments that we forgot about? Thanks for joining us and remember, the truth is in here!
What's the thread that runs through this episode? Well, you'll just have to listen to find out! Unsurprisingly, Vanessa and Carolyn manage to ship Mulder and Scully in an episode that seems to lack shipping (but has lots of people getting "voodooed"). They also discuss magic corpse dirt and share some background info about the episode. Who do voo doo? Well, not us...

In this episode, we're freaked out by Donnie Pfaster and his fetish for fingernail clippings. We also explore Scully's faith and wonder if it's necessary to have religion play such a big role in the episode. We manage to eke out some shipping moments and chuckle over Mulder's sarcasm. It's the same old same old with Carolyn and Vanessa!

This installment of NAXFPP is pure gold! Carolyn and Vanessa are ready to give another "variation" of their podcast. Laugh, ship, shake head, repeat! The week they rediscover their love of a certain tv jingle, discuss comedy vs drama, and delve into the lives of the characters and actors of this episode (real or--more likely--imaginary). This episode was released with the help of a Rube Goldberg Machine, so you can't blame us for the result!

It's time to drop major bombshells, not hide the girls' disdain for Diana Fowley outright, and struggle to pronounce this episode's title correctly. And, of course - WHAT is UP with the BLACK OIL? For the hundredth time, Vanessa and Carolyn admit they have no idea. Plus, they scratch their heads about the CSM-Mulder mind meld and Mulder's Jesus complex. But don't worry - the girls manage to throw in a little shipping, too!

Look out dinosaurs and dodos--we are examining extinction! This week we get to know the X-Files in a biblical sense, erm, ummm, I mean, it'll make sense when you hear it! Carolyn shares some memes, Vanessa shares some science, so business as usual. Then they wrap it up with an in depth and rather bumbling discussion of the plot with all its twists and turns. So pull out an earbud and listen in! And as we always say, "Kill me once shame on you, kill me twice that's impossible!"
Get ready for the end of season 6 and our transition into the beyond! OK, that sounded morbid. Really, we're just going into season 7 soon. But anyway, you'll want to download this episode for X-Files games, highlights of our season 6 coverage, and discussion about our favourite Mulder and Scully moments of the season! We also bite the bullet and engage in some story improv (spoiler alert: two characters play house...) that ends with guns a-blazin'.

This episode was brought to you by a writer whose last name we can’t pronounce for the life of us! We'll take you on a whirlwind tour of the episode that is the perfect specimen for Vanessa's usual gender studies analyses. Carolyn reveals a surprise about her past X-Files memorabilia, and we discover that we live for "the little smiles." Also, there's a certain lamp that gets a big chunk of airtime...
We recorded this episode remotely, because our podcast room and equipment have moved and our microphones are still in boxes! Please accept our sincerest apologies for any audio weirdness.

Doggone-it, the girls are back at it again! This week Vanessa and Carolyn (with help from the podcast dog, Yoshi) try not to chase their tails for a whole episode about dogs. Some delightful topics that will make you sit up and beg for more: cryptozoology (try saying that five times fast), C's favorite scary short story, Scully's jealousy, internet dating in the 90s, terrible dog puns, and so much more! For this episode, Vanessa and Carolyn welcome Missy and Merri from the podcast Fake Geek Girls! The girls have a whale of a good time talking about Agua Mala, with lots of laughs and silliness, but also some more serious (but not too serious) critique of the representations of Latina/Latino people and discussions of the symbolism of water in the episode. In a shipping report that makes a splash, Missy and Merry join in heartily, and Carolyn also gives us some direct quotes from her head canon.

Hello friends! After a crazy (and sometimes disappointing) season 11 experience, we are back with the original series and we're finally on season 6! (Full disclosure: We recorded this before season 11 aired...So there might be references that are dated. Oops.)
In this episode: Shipping Report, confusion about the Syndicate, and some griping about Diana Fowley...and we make a poignant analogy for the alien that bursts out of that dude's stomach.
You can follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram. By following us, you can keep up with what's going on in X-Files and NAXFPP land! We're also on Wordpress.

Put on your Mulder glasses, grab a smoothie (of the veggie or fruit variety, preferably), and open your Bible...We're talking "Nothing Lasts Forever" with Vin Forte of the podcast Any Time With Vin Forte.
Here's what we discuss: Biblical passages and faith, a church-centric Around Vancouver, and whether or not Mulder and Scully are together and what that really means, because who knows? Not us! Also listen to hear who blames God for, well, everything bad.
Trigger warning: Carolyn tells us briefly who the Barbara Beaumont character is based on, so there's a very brief mention of true crime...But if you watched this X-Files episode, you probably don't really mind...

This episode feels a little...familiar.
Vanessa chats with Meg and Jen of the podcast Indoorswomen about this episode with recycled themes but, admittedly, very. Creepy. Bad guys.
Other topics include Mulder dad one-liners, speculations of where The Ship will be sailing, and whether or not this episode has feminist elements.
Check out Meg & Jen's podcast Indoorswomen! They are a podcast of the geeky pop cultural persuasion. Two intellectually curious and geekily inclined BFFs discuss stuff they like (and don't) and play silly games.

In this very special episode with our very special guests, we present a very special discussion all about Season 10 and 11. Radhika and Max of the blog Apartment 42 Revisited join Carolyn and Vanessa this week to explore the questions you were dying to someone would address: What did the franchise do wrong with season 10 and 11? What did they do right? And are we starting a new NAXFPP cult? You'll have to listen to find out! Listen also for some 90s moments, and hear Carolyn's very special relationship with a very special X-Files character, Deputy Director Alvin Kersh. Stick around for the end of the episode for an audio sneak peek of the next Season 11 episode, "Rm9sbG93ZXJz." (It's pretty much just music, but it's pretty awesome.)
You can find Apartment 42 Revisited at their blog and on Facebook and Twitter! You know you want to follow them!
You can find us at Wordpress, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram. We like to post lots of X-Files things. All X-Files, all the time.
There's a new podcast in town! Friend of the podcast, Lindsay (you've heard her here before), has decided to embark on her own podcasting journey! We welcome her into the Rationally Random Media fold and are super excited to debut her FIRST EPISODE EVER! Perfect for an X-Files hiatus.
Come listen to the awesome Dr. Joselyn Rojas talk about her path towards becoming a Medical Doctor and then an Immunology researcher at Harvard. Lindsay and Joss talk science and how people perceive their medical professionals and also gush about Gillian Anderson and Mark Snow!

Meow-za, have we got a tail for you! This week we have a special returning guest to the podcast, founding member Amanda! The three girls have a great time together, kind of like the old days, but not the old days when the CIA was experimenting on unsuspecting people through the MK-Ultra project. Download now for info on these secret government projects and to get the skinny on young Skinner! Also you will find out some choice information about how our intrepid podcast hosts watch horror movies (someone hides under an afghan, someone screams in movie theatres). All this and so much more! Nazis! Drafts! Biological Warfare! The exclamation points are endless!!
Outro music is "Fear is a Man's Best Friend" by John Cale, copyright 1975, Island Records. Check out his website for the latest info on this talented artist: john-cale.com.
It's cross-over time, with Ryan Sprague from Somewhere in the Skies! Ryan, Vanessa, and Carolyn have a blast praising the X-Files fandom and the stars that make the show happen, pointing out commonalities between Slenderman and Ghouli, and giggling all about Bob. Ryan tells his UFO sighting story, and reveals whether or not he gets embarrassed watching MSR with his parents. Prediction: Carolyn will talk about Edgar Cayce, too.
And then, it's all. About. William.

Stuff we mention on the podcast:
We start off with Carolyn giving us all her thoughts on the previous episode, "Plus One." Then, Vanessa and Carolyn wonder: What would Scully and Mulder's Tinder profiles and online dating life look like? The girls reminisce about the 90s and lose some forehead moisture trying to wrap their heads around the Mandela Effect. Carolyn finds her new catch phrase, and Vanessa schools us on how to use the internet in a responsible way.
Things we talked about on this ep: Heavyweight Podcast (listen here), Ouija Broads (listen here), and Can We Cult (listen here).

After 25 years, it's what we've aaaall been waiting for...ATTHS. Twice.
Vanessa is joined over the phone by two Lone Gunwomen of Newspace, Lindsay (back from last week!) and Sara. The girls ask the most important questions: Is this the best Chris Carter episode in a long time? Is this episode unnecessarily sexually charged? What is up with the obsession with Scully as a mother and her aging body? The girls also sing the praises of a certain cartoonist (find them here) and a certain actress (find her here). You'll also find out what would make Lindsay choke Chris Carter...
Vanessa is joined by friend of the podcast, Lindsay, to discuss "This" well-rounded episode. The episode starts with Lindsay's thoughts on "My Struggle III," then the girls touch on subjects such as digital vs. analog, the story behind "the fajitas," the false notion of internet privacy, and - what else? - shipping, shipping, shipping. Listen to the end of the episode for an all-audio version of the promo for season 11's next episode, "Plus One."
Mentioned in this episode: "The X-Quiz 2017," where Carolyn and Vanessa play against two other teams in the ultimate X-Files trivia showdown! Listen here.
Things we want to plug:
X-Phile and former fanfic writer Joanna Schaffhausen's new novel, "The Vanishing Season." Read all about it at https://www.joannaschaffhausen.com/
Another friend of the podcast, H.G. Bells, has published a book that is available starting TODAY on Amazon. You can purchase it at https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Over-Oral-History-Apocalypse/dp/154365519X - and you should.
How do you even begin to discuss one of the most problematic plot twists in television? Carolyn and Vanessa try - and it's hard. But the girls try to keep it as lighthearted as possible, while also attempting to make any iota of sense of it all.
Content warnings: Discussions of rape. It's kind of hard to avoid in this one.

We had so much fun talking with Jeff Gulka, and we know you're going to "praise" this episode (get it?)! Find out what Jeff is up to today, how he got onto the X-Files, and what it was like being a child actor, especially around X-Files heavy hitters like Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. He also tells us all about his thoughts on Gibson and where he might be today. Find out fun facts like what his favourite tabletop game is (you might be surprised!), and hear what is in the works for this actor-musician.

This episode may be all about Yves, but we are all about the laughs! In this, the season finale of The Lonegunmen, Carolyn and Vanessa prepare to say goodbye to our X-Files detour. Don't worry we will answer all the pertinent questions, or at least try to answer them. Such questions as: why is America so obsessed with JFK? How is Morris Fletcher the absolute worst? Which podcast callback comes from Frohike in a reticulan suit? And who are Charlene and Darlene and why are they so petty? Thank you for sticking with us through this X-Files spin-off, we've enjoyed this tangent and can't wait to get back to our regularly scheduled podcasting!
Even though we're here in Canada, we've decided to hono(u)r our American sides and take a release break for Thanksgiving! Enjoy the holiday and eat lots of food (but not too much)! We'll be back next week!

A-hoy, mateys! We're diving into the "lost episode" of the Lone Gunmen and we can't believe it's our second to last one. In this episode, you'll hear all about Vanessa and her sweet tooth, the Chinese threat (or lack thereof?), and Carolyn's secret spy techniques. There may or may not be a rare appearance by Celine Dion, and the girls talk way too much about Jimmy in a hot dog suit. Also join the girls for a trip to Tangentville, which goes into Mulder & Scully Shipping Territory!

This week we swear to tell the whole truth, so help us Frohike! We would be lying if we said we aren't sad to be nearing the end of The Lonegunmen. Carolyn and Vanessa herald the arrival of Walter Freakin' Skinner with as much fanfare as he will allow on today's episode. We also sing the praises of the internet, applaud the show's handling of a sensitive topic, and more hijinks!
Editors remarks: Carolyn accidentally confuses Queen Elizabeth Park for Queen Victoria Park. Forgive her for this mistake!
The Tango is a dance... of hilarity with our Lonegunmen! This week Vanessa is letting Frohike dance his way into her heart, Carolyn contemplates the love life of a spy, and both girls still can't believe they got to talk to Dean Haglund about this very episode! We've got all the right moves, some fun behind the scenes info which sidesteps into our horrible attempts at a foreign language. Just turn up the volume and join us in a dance!
Check out our interview with Dean Haglund, Langly in this episode, for some more behind the scenes fun facts and also because he is awesome and we love him!
It's the 2017 Halloween Spooktacular! No but(t)s about it, this episode is full of "butt stuff!" We're tackling "Badlaa," X-Files season 8, episode 10, for some ooky, spooky Halloween fun. In this episode, Vanessa and Carolyn cover what's problematic (surprised?) and wonder "how do you not do all the bodily function jokes?" (the answer is: you don't NOT do the bodily function jokes, you do ALL the bodily function jokes). Find out who created a product called "Midnight Abductee" (the answer won't surprise you), and Around Vancouver gets ghost- and murder-y!
Creepy Halloween music by Soul Candle (https://www.youtube.com/user/SoulCandleMusic)
Vanessa and Carolyn have been diagnosed with the Lone Gunmen bug! If they were hospitalized for it, here's what they would discuss from their beds: Around Vancouver, our ancestries, trading galbladders, Chinese medicine, Call of the Wild, and what Ethan Hawke would pair well with. Join as at Tangentville General Hospital - and find out who said, "Come sweep my chimney!"
Listen for a clue about next week's episode!
Get ready for maximum laughs, maximum thrills, and maximum... ummm, prison breaks? This week we are going to the big house and we are dragging along a special guest with us! Our friend Sam joins Carolyn and Vanessa as they fantasize about life behind bars, ship with reckless abandon and gush about our favorite conspiracists! Don't worry, we answer all your questions, even the ones you didn't know that you had. So lock yourself up with us and throw away the key! (But don't throw it too far, this episodes not really that long!)
This episode is more fun than a barrel of monkeys! Join Vanessa and Carolyn and their unending monkey business as they discuss monkeys in popular culture and filming with monkeys on set. Carolyn finds a rap name (and career?) for herself, and the girls play a game of charades, which none of you can see. This episode will have you laughing so much you'll be saying, "I'll be a monkey's uncle!"
P.S. We apologize for the upstairs monster's babies having a tantrum.
Closing song by Flickbox Kids Songs and Rhymes
This week our episode is the same backwards as forwards (what is the word for that again?), but only if you play it backwards after listening. We've got quite a show for you! Let's take a trip 'around Vancouver' with a brief stop in the German language and plenty of conspiracies and laughs along the way! Vanessa helps us get through some tough topics with the grace and care of an afterschool special, while Carolyn takes us through the only reality that matters--virtual reality! Plus this quote: "My brain is a darkroom, but nothing's developing!" Oh well, we'll get it right one of these days!
Carolyn and Vanessa would like to introduce you to their new best friend, Dean Haglund! The one and only Richard "Ringo" Langley from our favourite shows, the X-Files and The Lone Gunmen, gives us an amazing peek into the life of a busy actor, comedian, Vancouverite turned Australian, dancer, and gosh, so much else - you'll have to give it a listen to find out! Dean gives us all the juicy deets on going back to the most popular sci-if show from the 90s (you know the one), what it was like growing up in Vancouver in the 80s and 90s, and the true and completely relatable stories of a Simon Fraser University undergrad. He tells us all about conspiracy theories (Vanessa's favourite!), his documentary, The Truth is Out There, and what it feels like to be "That Guy!" Plus: what is Dean doing now? The answer might surprise you!
And uh...delete this after you hear it.
Check out his documentary here and consider ordering the DVD to support Dean!
Closing music by Jackson Beats.
Saddle up, or should I say diaper up? This week Vanessa and Carolyn can hardly wait to dive into hackneyed gender role stereotypes in the media! But don't worry, we've got plenty of other fun too! We get political with some conspiracies courtesy of V and C dives into her political past. With so much more, including an 80s ghost story. So settle right in with a warm bottle and a snuggly blankie, we've got you covered!
Jump in! Carolyn and Vanessa drive around in a water powered car with the Lone Gunmen this week! Don't worry, we cracked the window for Jimmy, our golden retriever.
C looks for any excuse to honk the horn and flash the lights for shipping and V veers in and out of traffic with her crazy conspiracy theories!
As always, we make a pit stop for Vancouver area landmarks and plenty of laughs!
Where can you find us all over the web? Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! Check us out!
Welcome to The Lone Gunmen episode 3, where the ridiculousness apparently cancels out all the problematic stuff! Carolyn surprises Vanessa with a new QVC segment, the girls get real and examine Germany during WWII, and they lament at the fact that seniors get all the good stuff. Plus, a healthy dose of convoluted family dynamics...
It's our second interview with Anne Simon, PhD, a virologist, professor at the University of Maryland, and the Science Advisor for the "X-Files" television series. If you want to hear all about a woman's journey through her career in STEM, plus her work on the X-Files over the years, including season 10 and 11, you've come to the right place!
In this interview with Vanessa, Anne gives an overview of her work and laboratory, gives advice for both students and professors in STEM, and speaks about her greatest accomplishments. We also hear about the new and exciting "X-Files" season (and the past revival season) and fun facts such as who - dead or alive - she would like to have dinner with.
Note: This is a cross-over episode with Best of the WWEST, the podcast for Westcoast Women in Engineering, Science and Technology. Hear more Best of the WWEST episodes at www.wwest.ca/podcast
Hi, we're a Podcast, Not Another X-Files Podcast Podcast! Join Carolyn and Vanessa as they meet the newest Lone Gunman, Jimmy Bond! Vanessa gets real comfortable this week and Carolyn messes up idioms as we delve into football for the blind, siphoning gas, and the perfect way to bust into a embassy. Thanks for listening to our summer break from the X-Files!
We're taking a break from the X-Files to cover another classic in its universe - The Lone Gunmen! In this episode, Vanessa and Carolyn talk 2000s moments, Byers' relationship with his dad, and all things conspiracy theories. Vanessa recalls her 17th birthday, while Carolyn worries what the NSA/CSIS might think about her internet searches. We're also super happy that we don't have to say goodbye to Vancouver just yet!
Join us in a little break from the X-Files to talk about our favourite trio!
Closing music by Eric Matyas
We made it! Georgia joins Carolyn, Vanessa and Amanda on a movie journey. We answer all the tough questions! Where were our girls when the first X-Files Feature Film was released and who did Vanessa bring to the movies? Which Shadowy Syndicate members are perfect for each other? How does the Well Manicured Man sound so very posh and pissed? Can Georgia get Carolyn to renounce her shipper ways? Do we want or even really deserve a Mulder and Scully movie kiss? All this and plenty of your favorite segments, a middle-aged mom review that warns against a very unconventional hotel situation, and someone proclaiming her love for "chunky" movies. Can four girls fight the future? Only this episode will tell.
It's a surprise (sort of) bonus! Vanessa and Carolyn sit down with Lisa Gemino, long-time crew member on the X-Files during its original filming in Vancouver. You'll find out what Chris Carter is really like (spoiler alert: he may be nicer than we pretend he is...), catch some behind-the-scenes tidbits, and hear about an on-set incident that may go down in X-Files crew history!
Reminder: We are taking a 2-week release break from our regular episodes. Stay tuned for "Fight the Future" on August 10th, and after that, 13 episodes covering "The Lone Gunmen!"
Happy summer, everyone!
It's the end of season 5, and we give Vancouver a proper send-off! But first, we have so much praise for Gibson Praise, do some Well-Manicured Man impressions (you don't want to miss those), compare Scully's jealousy of Diana Fowley with her jealousy towards Phoebe Green (remember her?), and in doing so, try to figure out what a true love triangle is. We're not sure we actually come to a conclusion on that one. Plus, what do the Lone Gunmen do before bed? You'll hear that answer in this episode, and dare we say, it's pretty hilarious.
We also feature interviews with people (our friends!) who were extras in the famous chess scene - hear about what they heard, saw, and did!
And in our season 5 wrap-up, we play some highlights, wax poetic for our patrons, and, of course, go over our ratings for the season, because we're just that meta.
Welcome to the longest episode of NAXFPP! It's super fun over here!
NEXT WEEK - stay tuned for a special interview with Lisa Gemino, crew member for many years of the X-Files' Vancouver home. Then, we take a 2-week release break, because, summer.
Thanks for listening! We love you!
Join in our madness this week as we get bugged by, well, a giant bug. Vanessa takes us behind the scenes of her job as a telemarketer and relays some workplace angst. The girls discover some extremely long vocabulary and then try to recreate some possible workplace romance over pasta. All this and plenty of fun facts as well as a Shipping that had Carolyn's finger on the rewind button!
Thanks to our listener Paul for our outro!
Vin Forte is back! He joins Vanessa and Carolyn to talk about Mulder stretches, bioweaponry fun facts, and Mulder's sketchy dealings. Carolyn surprises Vanessa with a "Pepsi Challenge," and we get a bit of a sugar high as we talk about our favourite sugary drinks. Also listen for a new word, coined right here on the podcast!
Note: In her sugar high frenzy, Vanessa managed to throw her microphone and somehow turn it off without realizing, so her audio is very low for the last 15 minutes or so of the episode. Whoops! Say no to sugar, kids!
We're going on a mini journey once again! Join Carolyn and Vanessa to talk about upside down crosses and Scully cutting her losses. (Rhyme time!)
Enjoy our mini adventure!
It's time for another NAXFPP toofer-extraordinaire! This week we handle the big pile of "Nope!" that is Travelers and wonder why skeptical Mulder is skeptical in Mind's Eye. Carolyn is captivated by the smoky and dreamy '50s, while Vanessa takes a Vancouver journey through her own Mind's Eye. We also crush on some hipster-looking coroners and become "travelers" through our own past tweets! Tune in for all your favorite segments and plenty of Fun Facts!
Thank you to our listener, Paul, for the outro!
Carolyn and Vanessa are at it again with a conversation about shipping that devolves into talking about actual ships (funny how that happens), Scully's scandalous hypnosis, and a horrifying alternate reality where everyone is the Cigarette Smoking Man's child...The girls ponder what Krycek and Marita's celebrity dating name would be, and muse about a hard choice that Skinner has to make...
Thanks to our listener Paul for our awesome outro!
Check us out on Patreon to receive awesome perks for helping us with our hosting costs! We couldn't do it without you! www.patreon.com/notanotherxfpod
Who's over there making out in the hallway? Why, it's Alex and Marita, of course! And Vanessa and Carolyn are not ok with it. Plus, Vanessa takes a trip through 90s internet pages, and Carolyn wonders if the alien goo can get into nose holes (because let's face it, we're never, ever going to truly understand how it works). The girls also explore the X-Files alien family tree, question Mulder's skepticism, and talk a lot about Russia.
Don't forget to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr (all @notanotherxfpod) and check us out on Patreon for exclusive perks! (www.patreon.com/notanotherxfpod)
Baby now we've got Bad Blood - HEY!
We welcome Carolyn's sister Monica as a guest this week as we chat about one of our favourite episodes of all time! Monica shares her X-Files origin story, which involved being scarred by Carolyn. We talk about all the wonderful actors in the episode, especially Luke Wilson, and Monica and Carolyn have lots to say about vampire lore and subculture. You can play along with our guessing game that is actually harder than it seems, and sing an homage to the episode with us! Grab half of a bagel with light cream cheese and travel down to Texas with us.
Let's take a dip in the primordial cyber ooze! We are a little freaked out by our computers this week as Artificial Intelligence threatens our very existence. Welcome to Kill Switch! Carolyn and Vanessa are joined by two phile-friends to discuss whether robots are running the world. Carolyn gets a little excited about her favorite "genetic opera" while Vanessa can't get enough of sarcastic Scully. Download now for tons of fun facts and a confusing journey through technology, society, and whatever name the CW goes by now.
Thank you to our listener Paul for our outro!
Editors note: We have some weird background noise in this episode, we've got it figured out, but couldn't fix it on this recording. Thanks for standing by us!
Welcome to Chinga, the first X-Files episode Carolyn ever saw! Don't worry, you'll hear a lot about her X-Files origin story. We also reflect (no pun intended) on our favourite bald guys, talk a lot about Stephen King, and Carolyn takes her own stab at being a prolific horror writer to tell Vanessa a story that totally freaks her out. Find out what we're shipping this time and shudder along with us as we talk about possibly one of the creepiest X-Files episodes ever!
This week we pay tribute to teen angst and Mulder's boyish agility! The trees are alive, with the sound of angry dads--it seems. Carolyn and Vanessa view the X-Files through adolescent glasses! Does it smell like teen spirit in here? Download now and don't get trapped in the orchard after curfew!
Good news! Thanks to our awesome patrons on patreon.com, we are getting a new recorder! This will help us avoid audio issues in the future. Season 5 has been a wild audio ride!
Thanks everyone for your regular support! Shout out to: Alex, Anna-Karin, Daniel, Erika, Jemimah, Jennifer, John, Maria, Michelle, Monica, Naomi, Peter, Sara, Vicki, and Vin!
On that note, we apologize for audio weirdness this week.
How much blue paint can you swallow before you die? We talk to our guest, Lindsay, to find out! We also talk the season 11 announcement (cautiously optimistic), overused plot devices, and wonder why Mulder can't keep his fish alive. In the end, we come to the conclusion that "Mulder doesn't need a badge to do what he wants to do," and end up having our very own NRA conference. Enjoy the crazy!
This episode will melt your face off! This week Vanessa and Carolyn welcome a new and exciting guest! Andrea Warner from the podcast Pop This! comes by to share her hot takes on feminism, pop culture, and being driven by the Cigarette Smoking Man. We get down to the 'bones' of the episode and have a great time laughing at Mulder's fight skills and Scully's desert wanderings in a nightgown. Download today for maximum episode freshness!
Thank you to our listener Paul for the amazing outro music!
Before we get into the description, we apologize for the audio quality this week. Our recorder is acting less-than-stellar. We are in the process of rectifying that situation, but for now, we hope that you will stick with us and enjoy this episode anyway! Next week will be better, we promise.
This week, we tackle The Post-Modern Prometheus - the X-Files episode that has sparked many an internet think piece. On that note, trigger warning: we talk about rape in this episode.
But we also talk about fun things, such as what Cher would be like as a mom. Carolyn also gives us her best Mutato impression, and, as always, we go down with the Mulder & Scully ship. To Carolyn's surprise, Vanessa gets the shippiest she ever has! Listen also for a taste of what Mulder's voicemail greeting would be, according to us.
Thanks as always for listening!
This week we wander off the main path and travel off-road with Carolyn and Amanda! Tag along on our impromptu camping trip with Mulder and Scully. Ever wonder which podcast host would be the one to keep the other two alive? The answer probably won't surprise you! All this and our favourite segments, including shipping, oh plenty of shipping! So let Amanda get you a marshmallow for roasting on the fire as we cozy up and sing some campfire songs!
Thanks to listener Paul for the outro song!
Vanessa and Carolyn welcome back an erstwhile guest to chat about their favourite trio, the Lone Gunmen! KB joins the girls to cover this fine 1989 vintage episode (like a fine wine...Get it? Ahem...Anyone? Tough room). Topics covered include huge cell phones the size of Mulder's head, Mulder's wedding ring and fan theories about Mulder's supposed former marriage, hackers, and 90s haircuts! We also ponder what happened to Mulder's pants, and who X lets into his bathtub...
Thanks to listener Paul for the outro song!
It's baaack! Redux again! This week Carolyn and Vanessa have a blast talking about this conspiracy-packed episode. Vanessa wonders what a syndicate group therapy session would look like. Carolyn wonders if hospital visiting hours are enforced when your nurses are shippers. We answer some important questions! Does Scully have gal pals? Why is sad Mulder so very sad? Where can we get our dinner cloned? All this and some crazy fan theories mainly surrounding CSM, Skinner, Scully's mom and a priest--not necessarily in that order.
We're back! Welcome to Season 5! Carolyn and Vanessa can barely contain their excitement about reaching their favourite season of the X-Files. We read some listener comments and questions to get the ball rolling, then pick apart Mulder's murder, discuss Scully's infamous Southern Blot, and find ourselves stymied by the black oil AGAIN. We then explore a couple super important questions: Were aliens involved in the Cold War? Who is the anti-shipper of the X-Files? And where does Skinner get his power?

We get into a serious conversation about the importance of faith, but have faith that we have plenty of laughs along the way! We're chasing some demons this week! Our curly-haired angels, Carolyn and Vanessa, woke up in a strange place and can't quite figure out why youtube keeps suggesting alien abduction videos. C wonders what Scully writes about Mulder in her diary and V gets psychological! This episode has it all, some top notch shipping, 90s moments, a myriad of fun facts and fashion you can catwalk into a crime scene with! Good morning starshine, the earth says hello! In this episode, we chat with Vin Forte of the podcast "Any Time With Vin Forte" about the classic Simpsons episode, "The Springfield Files." We hear Vin's thoughts on the Revival and the X-Files in general, hear fun facts from both Carolyn and Vin, and talk about a whole slew of 90s moments. Vin is appalled by Carolyn's choice of aquarium in a landlocked state, and Vanessa commiserates. We try to get to the bottom of the Red Speedo mystery and find out one of the best-kept Simpsons secrets! Vin also wows us with his impressions of cartoon characters, and we discuss what the Simpsons version did better than the X-Files themselves. Don't be afraid! We bring you love!
Carolyn and Vanessa sing an elegy for this X-Files episode that scared Carolyn when she was just a youngin'! We harness that fear and explore paranormal phenomena such as spectres of death and ghosts. Then, we dive into the most important questions: "Could Scully's therapist have a crush on Mulder?" and "Does Mulder even lift?"
Thanks to Jackson Beats for letting us use his track for our closing song! Check out his YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Shmackinj
This episode is the bees knees! If they have knees... Carolyn and Vanessa get buzzing on the topic of bees, and C investigates 90s horror movies that could make you afraid to leave the house! Carolyn and Vanessa are once again joined by Georgia and baby Hank, and this time Hank makes himself heard! He gives his opinion on the passing of our intrepid podcasters' favorite agent, and gets some salty life advice from "Auntie Carolyn." C and V also discover that they are on different sides of the East Coast/West Coast rap battle, question why Chris Carter kills off so many characters, and enjoy some Scully Sass and 90's music. All this and an important lesson from our podcasters: never go to the back of an airplane with a mustached dude!
We welcome back our friend Georgia, and we introduce Hank, the youngest Not Another X-Files Podcast Podcast listener ever! You may remember that Georgia was pregnant with Hank during her last appearance, and we were so happy to have them join us again. In this episode, we discuss Rocky Flats (and find out when Vanessa's birthday is!) and life lessons to be learned from the X-Files. In true NAXFPP fashion, the episode sidetracks into general X-files tangents, but you don't want to miss them. Hear Georgia's story of her embarrassing encounter with an X-Files actor, and Minnesota Housewife reviews!
Special thanks to Jackson Beatz for letting us use his track for our closing song! Check it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnrfFiqNrRU

All your favorite segments plus the girls dive into the burning questions YOU want answered! How many trombones joined the big parade? Are zombies the new vampires as far as hotness goes? Can we figure out how and why Marita talks like, uh, like this? If you love something should you let it go, especially if it's dead, sweetie, honey, baby? Want extras and perks? This episode was recorded during the last week of school before the holiday break, so Carolyn and Amanda are absent. However, Vanessa is joined by a worthy guest, Alicen, self-described as the human blooper! Alicen shares her screenwriting knowledge, shocks Vanessa with a deleted scene, and temporarily takes Carolyn's place as Shipper Queen. The girls break down the episode's Scully-logues and explore whether or not there is a parallel between aliens and cancer. Make sure to listen for what makes Alicen "ragey" about the X-Files!
Have you seen our Patreon page? Check it out here: www.patreon.com/notanotherxfpod Perks include snail mail, sneak peeks of episodes, and bloopers!

(At least, not one about this X-Files episode!)
Next week, look out for our holiday special!
You can "Betts" your bottom dollar that this episode will entertain you! With dangerous levels of punnery, the nature of cancer, and X-Files family conversions, you won't want to miss it. Closing music by Eric Matyas.

This week, Vanessa and Carolyn tackle two episodes in one! Vanessa grosses Carolyn out with a parasitic horror story.
