"Holdout (Run for the Hills)" takes inspiration from an early demo and is the result of diving into some live interpretation, incorporating more ...uh... moog. So much moog. There's other things in there but really... woof. Moog all over.
"Phases" is an interpretation of a live performance that itself goes through changes, has second thoughts, and even wanders off into divergence before spacing out completely.

In 2006 the song "Achmen" appeared on Boy Blue, a collection of weird, organic loops that had evolved into crazed takes on everything from funky house and breakbeat to progressive trance and drum n bass.
After re-releasing Boy Blue in early 2021, Dave Espionage took the inspiration of the chopped, breakbeats, droning bass lines, and wild arpeggios of the original track and sculpted three new takes on the original. This time with modern production, slightly better studio acoustics, and a severe lack of trash trucks showing up at 2am during prime production hours.
The trio of tracks here are what one might call a buffet. You've got your appetizer of progressive-breaks-house-not-really that takes you on a sci-fi journey of breaks, explosions, and strange messages floating in air. Second up is the main course that takes the spirit of Baltimore club and Jersey bounce with a healthy dose of bass and an epic trap breakdown to send your head spinning. Last is a gentle lay-down, ambient take by Dagger Dash to lull you into sleep before setting an epic finale at the close.
