Welcome to the SportsFeen Podcast, I am your host Keith Feeney and this is our inaugural episode so it is a very special episode indeed. I am very excited to bring you guys this show which was born about 2 years ago when a few friends and I decided we were going to do a sports vlog that was simply a bunch of guys talking sports. Cheers was born in my hole in the wall apartment with 4 best friend fighting for camera space and airtime and it was a blast, but as life happens guys started to not be able to do the show be it because of new found love, obligations, etc. and while it lasted only for about 4 to 5 episodes Cheers was a really fun time for me creatively. I mean not only did I have my friend on the same show I was doing but I was directing producing and starring in it with my guys, my brothers and I still have fond memories of those shows. A couple weeks ago I started to get that itch to do some type of creative thing involving sports you know a blog or something so I decided to create this podcast and unleash my undying love for all things sports. Now I don’t want you to think this podcast came just from a place of love because it didn’t the fact is I hate certain media outlets who push and push to set the sports agenda i.e. ESPN. Don’t get me wrong I love ESPN I consume almost all of my sports media through one of their many outlets but I also see how a company with as much reach as ESPN can skew how casual sports fans look at certain topics in sports. An example is LeBron James, 3 years ago when he made the decision people hated him for the decision but ESPN pushed that he wasn’t a good player because he hadn’t won a title in Cleveland and he wasn’t a clutch player because he didn’t hit game winning shots and from that he wasn’t the best basketball player in the NBA, when truth be told up to that point one could make the argument LeBron had been the league’s best player for 3 years. Now that he has 2 titles LeBron is the bee knees and ESPN proceeds to showcase him as such when just 3 years ago they were making him out to be maybe a top 5 player. I hate ESPN for that and the other sports topics they push on fans who refuse to think outside of their box. That’s why this podcast was created because I am someone who consumes their product but knows how to look at sports with an objective eye and offer an objective opinion.
