Tales from Burning Seed, 2019.

Sunday morning, pre-dawn. I stumbled back toward camp, exhausted but elated after a spectacular day and night, two burns, two CPL events, and personally culminating my exhilarating set on Bhima the Dragon. "Finally, I can relax."

However, mere moments after resting my weary body on the Morning Joint balcony, I was kidnapped by a wild gang of Kraken and chained to their submarine. They were no mood for rest, instead determined to pillage bounty from the other camps in our village, and they demanded music for their crazy adventures.

Initially I protested, my head coming up with 100 excuses. Too tired, too late, too cold, no sunscreen (!), not prepared, not part of my expectations… But the Kraken simply smiled, promised it would be OK, and soon we were away on the K-Sub, welcoming the magnificent sunrise over the paddock.

Once in the groove, and with my protests falling on deaf tentacles, I rediscovered the truth - that playing a sunrise set at Seed had actually been my dream for this year, but one that I had given up on. Although I wasn't "prepared" for this set at all, I had so many beautiful tunes that I had been collecting for this exact moment.

As usual this year, the most magical moments came when I let go of expectations, listened to my friends, and listened to my heart.

I am so grateful for the space to experience this incredible, surreal day, night and day with like-minded souls.
