Welcome to the sensational sound stage of Sebastian Smith. If you decide to stay you are one of a handful of very special people. Somebody who the system has failed to mould and condition. Somebody curious to seek and find something they haven't been fed my the mass media. Welcome to the catacombs of the true underground. Welcome to the backstreet. Welcome to the pirates' cave. At 17 years old I wanted to change the world. At 71 I am beginning to find ways to change it.
Lyrics: I come from the north. I'm happy in the north. I've lived in the south. I'm happy in the south. I've lived in the midlands. I'm happy in the midlands. I've lived overseas. I'm happy overseas. I'm happy in the east. I'm happy in the west. I'm happy in the north. I'm happy in the south.
I like hot chillies. I like strong espresso. I like neat brandy. I like neat scotch. I like marmite. I like beer. I like cities. I like London.
I like black people. I like brown people. I like white people. I like straight people. I like gay people. I like trans people. I like mountains. I like the sea.
I like the countryside. I like cities. I like jazz. I like London.
I'm happy in the south.
19 April 2021: Added and extra layer of synth and rebalanced the mix.
Casi suena como si fuese grabada en directo, muy animada y un poco loca. Sin embargo, ha sido hecha en su totalidad con sampling y síntesis.
Sounds almost like it was recorded live, very lively and a bit crazy. Nonetheless it's been made entirely with sampling and synthesis.
The lovely voice of Lisa Shaw. Cool, lazy and laid back. This song is what you need in the hot weather while lying on the beach or by the poolside. Whack up the volume and you can dance to it as well.
Originally this was going to be called "Grooving in Soho" to celebrate a series of amazing boutique parties thrown by Fierce Angels (Check them out) in the Karma Sanctum Hotel, a stone's throw away from Carnaby Street.
Then in May 2018 I was in a charity shop in Rochester (Kent UK) and spotted a CD of theme music from West Side Story. Immediately my brain made a connection and I decided to rename this track as West Side Stray. The whole thing remains a celebration of London's Soho - a place with such a fine past, present and future in everything groovy.
Enjoy.
Remixed December 2019.
6½ Inch Heels turned out to be one of my more popular tracks. People still listen to it now, even though it was first uploaded in 2014. So as to preserve that original version, this new mix is coming in as a new track. The overall tune remains the same but the remix brings it into a more modern context especially in the percussion.
In 2018 a mysterious elongated object from interstellar space entered the solar system. It was given the name Oumuamua (The messenger). It passed with a tumbling motion before moving far away through the galaxy again.
As it passed, all the random waves in space formed an amazing melody the like of which had never been heard before. It was captured by chance on an analog radio by an unknown musician called Sebastian Smith, who recognising its true worth, set out to share it with the world.
Slight rework during the 2020 lockdown. Cleaned up kick. Worked on pad. Cleared some masking of lead by other sounds.
Supporters of A432 tuning claim that as 432 Hz is a multiple of 8 Hz, which is the fundamental Om of the cosmos, music tuned to this pitch has powerful mystical an healing properties compared with the pitch standardised in 1939 at 440 Hz.
Opponents state that all this is nonsense because back in the mists of time, nobody knew about Hz (Cycles per second). In fact nobody knew what a second was until it was defined sometime around 1670, as decent clocks began to be produced.
It all makes fascination reading, just look up A 432 on the Web and you will discover the whole story.
This track, Electric Masquerade, is tuned to A432. The project revealed some interesting observations. The project itself was tuned to the A432 pitch, but only the synths native to Apple's Logic X picked up the tuning. The 3rd party synths all needed tuning individually to A432 and the vocal samples that were not in Apple Loops format also.
At the end of the day, it gives a mellow sound and who knows? It might give you a psychic lift.
In 2018 a mysterious rock from some distant place in our galaxy entered the solar system. It was a very unusual shape and passed with a tumbling motion before moving far away through the galaxy again. As it passed, all the random waves in space formed an amazing melody the like of which had never been heard before.
So there I was listening to my new GlitterBox album when suddenly --- there was this accapella! "MIX IT SSMITH!", said the cats. "MIX IT SSMITH!", said the voice in my head. It gave me a deep love vibe producing this track and I would like to share that with you, my sisters and brothers.
Mix refined a bit on November 4th 2018

Mix re-worked in February 2018. After hearing this a few times, I became aware of musical relationships between the sounds that I had never considered when making the original version. I have now reworked the mix to bring these into focus and just loved the result. I hope you will too.
For the full words of the monologue, see my track Underground (Monologue). The voice was generated on a computer, even though it may sound human. The backing is influenced by the sound of machinery, mainly 19th century steam as can be witnessed at The Blists Hill museum at Madeley, Shropshire in the UK.
Such an amazing vocal track deserves to be showcased! First track from my album "Shoe Cat Alley"
A track made mostly of third-party loops. I get weary of working too hard every now and again. Cleaner mix uploaded Feb 2019.
Compré solamente la voz de esta canción, en Beatport. Nunca había oído la versión original (Ahora si). Me gustaba el ánimo de fiesta y yo quiero con este mix, hacer un éxito internacional para los LatinBeatz. ¡Ojalá!
I bought just the vocal of this song, on Beatport. I had never heard the original version (Now I have). I liked the party spirit and with this mix I would like to make an international hit for the LatinBeatz. If only!

This is the dub version. You could get to like it once you have given yourself sufficient brain damage trying to get your head round infinity.
Dark atmospheric techno house monster with an Afro feel. This version has been remixed and remastered to give a cleaner, more punchy vibe while keeping all the essence of the original.
