In this episode, I talk about how audiobooks will help you read more books. I cover the negative perceptions I had about audiobooks like you are not "reading," I can't take notes or highlight the book, and I can't do other things while listening. My mind has changed about audiobooks, and there are advantages like the narrator speed option, you can "listen, stop, and pick up where you left off," and it is easier to read large books.

In this episode, I talk about how I built my "reading muscles" to read 105 books in 2017. I suggest two methods which are having a daily "pages" or "time" reading goal. For example, read 1 page in the morning and one page in the evening. The same with a time goal where you read 5 minutes in the morning then 5 minutes in the afternoon. Once you feel comfortable with your goal keep adding more pages or time so you keep building those "reading muscles." In the beginning, I suggest reading 200 pages or less entertaining books or books on subjects that you are very interested in. Then start reading more books with over 200 pages on subjects you or interested in but not really familiar with.

In this episode, I talk about my daily routine of reading an hour and a half by having two separate books to read and a backup book download on your phone. One book is to be read 30 minutes every day, the best time is in the morning. The second book is to be read for an hour and the best way to do this is in two separate 30-minute reading session or one full hour session. Remeber to download a book on your phone for those down times you can take advantage to either get head or make up some of your reading time.

I read 105 books in 2017 and "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie was my favorite out of all of them. I speak about the three chapters that I like the most which are "Smile," "Remember that a person's name is, to that person, the sweetest sound in any language," and "Talk in terms of the other person's interest." I give some real-world examples of how I have used these 3 strategies that Carnegie recommends.

I talk about the two things I used, physical library books and library apps, to read 105 books in 2017 without spending a penny. With physical books, I use the "home delivery" to save time and money driving to a library. Plus if the library does not have the book then I "suggest-a-title," which the library will send to your home for free when it becomes available. The two free library mobile apps I use are OverDrive and Hoopla. The mobile apps are great to read more when there are times you are waiting for someone, in line, or watching tv with kids.
