SustainaPod
SustainaPod is a podcast that delves into various stories of sustainability across different sectors in Asia. Hosted by students from the Green Impact Hub organisation, each episode will put youth in direct dialogue with leading sustainability professionals, thinkers, activists and more. We explain each topic with the experienced guest, and help listeners understand more about the diverse components (or should we say ‘pods’!) of sustainability today for young people.

This year’s summer was one of the hottest on record. As the world battles with the impacts of climate change, it is taking a toll on the mental health of people around the world. ‘Eco-anxiety’ is a term coined to reflect a heightened state of anxiety and worry related specifically to environmental harm caused by human activity and climate change. Young people, whose futures stand to be the most affected by climate change are one of the most vulnerable to experiencing eco-anxiety. What can we do about it? This is the first of two episodes co-hosted by students in Hong Kong from EcoSol, an environmental advocacy group that strives to create sustainable change with Hong Kong students. Why Tyre Dust? What’s the big deal?
In the fourth episode of this Engineering Series, Paco talks to Hanson Cheng of the Tyre Collective Team. Since 2020, their project to remove tyre wear from our air has received a lot of exposure from many news outlets.
They discuss the challenges of entrepreneurship and the reason he left his job as an urban designer to make the “catalytic converter” for tyre wear.
They also talk about the Tyre Collective’s experience at the Terra Crata Design Lab and presenting King Charles III.

For us online observers, COP26 had just been a two-week bootcamp to keep updated with climate negotiations through livestreams. For youth delegates Hermia and Mark, COP26 had been a whirlwind of workshops, talks, protests and social events. Long before Covid-19 put a stop to cross-border travelling, Natalie Chung Sum-Yue’s social enterprise ‘V’air’, has been promoting low-carbon local tourism in Hong Kong to mitigate climate change. What’s more, Natalie is also a published author and one of the youngest members of the Hong Kong government’s Council for Sustainable Development. Belinda and Kadence sit down with Natalie, the Japan Times Female Climate Activist of Asia 2021, to discuss V’air and eco-tourism, her vision for climate education, and her experiences working with the Hong Kong government and large multilateral organisations. The 2021 report published by the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) caused quite a stir, with scientific information that demonstrates just how much longer the world can last in the fight against climate change, if business continues as usual. We asked online if anyone wanted to join this discussion: our young eco-warriors Hay Wong, Sakshi Gupta, and Evan Yang signed up to share their perspectives on corporate responsibility, greenwashing and the importance of Indigenous communities in governmental policy making.
How can we take both individual and collective action to tackle the plastic crisis?
