Chapter Five of “A New Earth” explores the “the pain body” and how the egoic mind can create both emotional and physiological responses to unchecked triggers. These ideas continue to build on themselves and as we continue our way through this book, what is becoming more and more clear is how much work there remains to be done (not to mention the fact that this is a moment to moment pursuit). Here at MOACA Media we will take any opportunity to make a direct Nirvana reference. It’s week 8 of COVID-19 quarantine life and a lot of us are still at home with our family. Tensions likely run higher than usual as our individual frustrations collide. Mood swings are like an amusement park ride- something that’s been referred to as being in the hell zone. Inevitably we do and/or say things that we have to apologize for. Making amends is hard, awkward, and often triggers a lot of anxiety. Jorge and Carlos swap stories of being on both sides of an apology and breakdown what it means to say “sorry”.

Week 7 of COVID-19 quarantine life has brought us to the inevitable topic of porn. We breakdown the taboos often related to pornography, cultural biases, hypocrisy, consumption, production, pitfalls and benefits. Many of us have found ourselves with a little more alone time and self-gratification is a likely conclusion (idle hands- am i right?). Jorge breaks down his foray into erotica as a form of self-expression and self-acceptance. Another one of our uniquely personal and unabashed conversations that separates our podcast from the rest of the noise.

It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" is a song by American rock band R.E.M., which first appeared on their 1987 album “Document.”.  It was released as a single in November 1987, reaching No. 69 in the US Billboard Hot 100.

Congratulations on making it through 2019 with us. We spend time on New Years Eve eve (not a typo) taking about why we are not making resolutions, how people are influenced by internet culture in those respects, and some numerology. It’s a hodge-podge of an episode which mirrors the hodge-lodge week of upside down feels we’ve had this week. Something about the week between Christmas and New Years that’s wacky. Happy Halloween everyone!!!

This weeks episode has Carlos and Jorge talking all things Halloween: costumes and traditions of our youth, trick or treating, parties, clubs and all the culture surrounding celebrating All Hallows’ Eve.

Halloween also marks the start of the Holiday season so we take this as an opportunity to talk about how to navigate the stress of events, family, work, as well as reconciling your personal goals of fitness and nutrition with the endless array of holiday party treats and gift baskets and cookies and all those pitfalls.

MOACA Goes the Distance (and back to the future).

In this episode we sit back, get comfortable and enjoy reminiscing on fond memories of our teens and 20s. The traditions we shared with our families growing up and how they’ve shaped our lives and mindset today.  Jorge details the simple joys that keep him present. Carlos continues finding success with his nutritional goals, and they both uncover the importance of the mind body connection.  We go the distance for nearly 90 minutes on this one and we hope you enjoy the ride.

We always want to thank each of you for continuing to listen, engage, and support this podcast every week. Having you all give us feedback really brings a smile to our day. MOACA on Competition

This episode is a quintessential Carlos & Jorge talk.  We literally turned on the mics, hit records and riffed on this one- mostly because Jorge was feeling sick and his brain was fogged by an endless array of over-the-counter cold remedies.

Competition is in the air with 2020 Crossfit Games Open starting on October 10th.  Our gym has divided all the members into teams and Jorge & Carlos find themselves on different teams.  Lines have been drawn, Jorge is all hyped up and Carlos couldn’t care less.  We discuss the differences between people who are driven and fueled by competition (Jorge) and those who just enjoy the process (Carlos),  Carlos is still struggling with his balance spectrum and Jorge is an incubus of viral plague but SOMEHOW we still managed to record another candid, honest, introspective episode.

Thank you to everyone who has subscribed, rated and reviewed this podcast.  These aren’t just for our own ego.  Every time someone leaves us a good rating and review, we get a bump of interest which helps get our message out into the world for more people to hear.  If you like what you hear, please head over to iTunes to subscribe, rate (5 stars please xxoo) and leave a review of our podcast.

NGL= Not Gonna Lie- an acronym most commonly used to indicate you are admitting something that may be considered strange.  It could be deemed the equivalent of 'just saying' or 'no offence' in the sense that it makes the statements more valid & less offensive. (Urban Dictionary).

Episode 11 is an exploration of Jorge & Carlos’s emotional mindset through the lens of our everyday experience.  Before we started this project, this was the types of talks we would have.  Ones where we unravel the knots in our heads that arise when our moods sour and then get tangled with some normally easily resolvable obstacles, but because of the added stress of being/feeling “off” they feel bigger and more difficult to manage than normal.  We’re candid and raw in this one, diving deeper into self-exploration in order to help verbalize the strategies we’ve come to rely on that help us out of our dark moments and back to peace.

Buckle up and enjoy the journey.

First of all we want to say sorry to everyone who woke up Tuesday and didn’t see the new episode queued up.  Technical and timing hiccups are inevitable in theses early days so thank you for your patience and support.

In this episode we get into fantasy football and have a moment of nostalgia when we talk about some of the trends from the last 20 years.  There’s also some digging into what makes for good style and fashion and Jorge helps Carlos understand how to unlock his own personal style.

We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoy having the talks- AND IF YOU DO- PLEASE head over to iTunes to subscribe, give us a 5-star rating, and review our show.

In this week’s episode Hurricane Dorian threatens to destroy everything in her path and determined to disrupt humanity and it feels like media sources are trying to bring us to the brink- we discuss the craziness (LA LOCURA) ensuing around us (you guys IT’S SOFA KING CRAZY) managing the stress of uncontrollable situations (like when we run into actual technical difficulties in this recording) and healthy vs. unhealthy coping mechanisms (catastrophe calories don’t count), and reminisce about the post-storm aftermath including how to survive long term power outages, and our capacity for adaptability.

There’s a couple of funny sidebars where we explore what the kids are saying these days, what it must be like to arrive to Miami from Somewhere Else USA, as well as a quick nutrition check in.

Episode 6 is roller coaster of topics, feelings, thoughts, laughs, and tender moments that only happen when two friends go unscripted and really open up about what’s on their mind.

Feelings of frustration and anger along with triggers and those uncontrollable moments that have an impact on our mood and mindset (ex: full moon lunacy) are faced head on in this episode.

Because in the end what we really want is world peace (of mind).

Enjoy the show!

FIVE PODCAST SHOWS!!!

Hey everyone!!!

This is our fifth show and we’re as thrilled as ever.  Want to take a moment to thank you for your words of encouragement, support and Input so far..  We are very excited to continue sharing our takes on those things we’re not supposed to talk about in an unfiltered, honest, and insightful way.

This week we sit down and recap our time spent volunteering at the Team Soul Barbell Beginner Weightlifting Meet last weekend- where we got to watch many of our friends compete in their first weightlifting competition.  We also take on a listener’s question about how to develop new friendships as an adult (which may not be as easy as it sounds).  We dive deep on navigating self sabotage, self-perception, and growing pains.

We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoy having the talks- AND IF YOU DO- PLEASE head over to iTunes to subscribe, rate and review our show.   Send us your questions/comments/concerns/ideas/ to:  moacamedia@gmail.com

Greetings everyone! Thank you so much for listening to our podcast. We are so grateful for all of the encouraging messages and your overall support.

On this weeks episode, Carlos & Jorge talk about FEAR. Where it comes from,  how it limits us, and what can we do to surpass our fears? What percentage of our worries come true? How can we train our minds to automatically focus on the things we have control over, rather than focusing on things that we don't have control over?

Also, would you rather be referred to as "Old" or "Vintage"?

Jorge shares his "viejo" moment of last week.

And much more!
