Sustainability Keynote SpeakerHave you ever wondered how businesses can thrive while also taking care of our planet? It's like a tightrope walk, balancing profit and planet, but it's not just possible; it's essential. This is where the concept of 'Sustainability in Business' comes into play. It's not just a buzzword; it's a transformative approach that's reshaping the business world.
What is Sustainability in Business?Sustainability in Business is like a garden. Just as a gardener nurtures plants for long-term growth, businesses cultivate practices that benefit the environment, society, and their own longevity. It's about creating a positive impact on the world while ensuring economic success.
Why is Sustainability Crucial Today? In a world facing climate change and resource depletion, sustainability is no longer optional. It's a responsibility. Businesses that adopt sustainable practices are not just doing good; they're staying ahead of the curve, future-proofing themselves against upcoming environmental regulations and changing consumer preferences.
The Three Pillars of Sustainable BusinessSustainability stands on three pillars: environmental, social, and economic. This trio, often referred to as the "triple bottom line," ensures that a company's activities are eco-friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable.
Real-World Examples of Sustainable PracticesFrom using renewable energy to implementing recycling programs, businesses worldwide are finding innovative ways to be sustainable. These practices not only reduce environmental impact but also often lead to cost savings.
The Economic Benefits of Going GreenContrary to the myth that sustainability is costly, going green can actually save money. Energy-efficient practices reduce utility bills, and sustainable products often attract a growing market of environmentally conscious consumers.
Overcoming Challenges in SustainabilityAdopting sustainable practices can be challenging, especially for small businesses. However, with strategic planning and community support, these hurdles can be overcome, leading to long-term benefits.
Sustainability and Customer LoyaltyCustomers today are more environmentally aware than ever. Businesses that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability often enjoy increased customer loyalty and a stronger brand reputation.
James Taylor*, a prominent keynote speaker, narrates his shift towards incorporating sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) into his professional focus. Originally centered on creativity and innovation, Taylor's journey has evolved, influenced by his collaboration with Allison Burns in "The Ethical Futurist," a program advocating for a sustainable and ethical future. He discusses the growing relevance of sustainability in business, observing how companies are increasingly integrating environmental responsibility with innovation and creativity. Taylor highlights the crucial role of AI and data in evaluating sustainable initiatives and emphasizes the effectiveness of storytelling in making the concept of sustainability compelling and actionable. Inspired by "The Ministry For The Future," he points out the significance of storytelling in addressing climate change challenges and solutions. Reflecting on his personal commitment, Taylor mentions reducing his travel and increasing virtual engagements to uphold sustainability principles. Concluding from Costa Rica, a leader in renewable energy, he reaffirms his commitment to addressing creativity, innovation, and sustainability*, inviting his audience to be part of this significant shift.
Green Technologies Transforming BusinessesFrom solar panels to biodegradable materials, green technologies are revolutionizing how businesses operate. These innovations not only help the planet but also offer new opportunities for growth and differentiation.
How to Start Your Sustainability JourneyStarting a sustainability journey can be as simple as conducting an energy audit or as complex as redesigning products for circularity. The key is to begin with small, manageable steps.
The Role of Employees in SustainabilityEmployees are the heart of any sustainability initiative. Engaging staff in sustainable practices not only fosters a culture of responsibility but also leads to more innovative and effective solutions.
Measuring Your Sustainable ImpactTracking and measuring the impact of sustainability efforts is crucial. It helps businesses understand the effectiveness of their actions and communicate their achievements to stakeholders.
Future Trends in Sustainable BusinessThe future of business is undoubtedly green. Trends like circular economy, zero-waste policies, and sustainable supply chains are shaping the next generation of business practices.

Enhancing Audience Engagement Through Innovative Panel Moderation TechniquesPanel moderation isn't just about asking questions; it's an art form that, when done right, can turn a simple discussion into a memorable experience. Imagine you're the conductor of an orchestra, where each panelist's voice is an instrument. Your baton? The questions you pose and the flow you create.
The Role of a ModeratorAs the moderator, you are the guide, not just for the panelists but for the audience's intellectual journey. Your task is to weave individual stories and insights into a tapestry of collective wisdom that resonates with every single person in the room.
Preparing for SuccessPreparation is your secret weapon. Knowing your panelists, understanding the audience, and having a clear goal for the panel are the cornerstones of a successful moderation. It's like packing a suitcase for a trip; everything you need should be at your fingertips.
Top Dubai Panel Moderator and Keynote Speaker James Taylor - Panel Moderation TechniquesBrainwriting: Harnessing Collective CuriosityBrainwriting is a silent brainstorming technique that involves writing down questions before sharing them with the group. Sustainability in Business: A Comprehensive Guide to Future-Proof Practices
Introduction to Sustainability in BusinessSustainability is a powerful term that has permeated the corporate lexicon, often interchanged with "going green" or "eco-friendly" initiatives. However, its scope is far more comprehensive, interlinking with every facet of business operations. It's about meeting current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs, a concept that's been embraced by forward-thinking businesses worldwide.
In the ever-evolving landscape of global commerce, sustainability is the compass that guides businesses towards long-term viability and ethical responsibility. With the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) providing a universal framework, companies are redefining their strategies to contribute positively to our planet and its inhabitants.
The United Nations' Sustainability Goals and Business AlignmentThe United Nations' SDGs are a call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. Businesses play a pivotal role in achieving these goals. By aligning their objectives with the SDGs, companies can address critical global challenges, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, and peace.
The Role of AI and Machine Learning in ESGArtificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are revolutionizing the way businesses approach Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. These technologies enable companies to analyze vast datasets for insights into their operations, supply chains, and customer behaviors, leading to more informed and responsible decision-making.
Bradesco’s AI chatbot, BIA: A Technological Ally in ESG
Bradesco, a banking giant, introduced BIA as a means to improve customer service. However, BIA's role evolved to encompass a watchdog functionality for detecting and addressing sexual harassment. This highlights how AI can uphold the 'Social' aspect of ESG, fostering a safer and more inclusive environment.
The 'S' in ESG: Social Considerations in BusinessThe 'Social' component of ESG emphasizes a business's relationships and the reputation it fosters with people and institutions in the communities where it operates. Social considerations are manifold, including labor relations, diversity, human rights, consumer protection, and community engagement.
Technology's Role in Enhancing Social Sustainability
Advancements in technology have provided businesses with tools to improve transparency, accountability, and engagement. For example, blockchain technology is being used to trace the ethical sourcing of materials, ensuring that the rights and welfare of workers in the supply chain are protected.
Circular Economy: The Business Model of the FutureThe circular economy represents a systemic shift in business thinking, moving away from the traditional linear model of "take, make, dispose" to a restorative approach that focuses on resource efficiency and waste reduction. This model is designed to be regenerative by intention and aims to keep products, components, and materials at their highest utility and value at all times.
Real-World Examples of Circular Business Models
Many companies are turning towards a circular economy as a way to reduce their environmental footprint and create sustainable value. For instance, Patagonia, the outdoor clothing brand, has embraced circularity through its Worn Wear program, encouraging customers to repair, share, and recycle their gear.
Regenerative Economic Practices in BusinessRegenerative practices go beyond sustainability, aiming to rejuvenate ecosystems and communities alongside achieving business objectives. These practices are not only about reducing harm but also about creating positive outcomes that improve the environment and society.
Companies Leading the Way in Regenerative Practices
A notable example is Interface, a modular flooring company, which not only aims for zero environmental impact but also strives to have a restorative effect on the planet through its 'Climate Take Back' initiative, actively working to reverse global warming.
Creative Approaches to SustainabilityInnovation and creativity are crucial in addressing the challenges of sustainability. Businesses are finding that creative approaches can lead to breakthroughs in sustainability that also drive economic success.
DGTL Festival: A Case Study in Creativity and Regeneration
DGTL, the music and arts festival in Amsterdam, stands as a testament to creative sustainability. The festival has set the ambitious goal of becoming the world’s first zero-waste event, incorporating everything from sustainable energy use to a circular food system within its operations.
Climate Quitting: A New Trend in SustainabilityClimate quitting, akin to quitting smoking for health benefits, involves businesses actively divesting from practices that harm the environment. It's a commitment to halt operations that contribute to climate change and to innovate towards climate-positive solutions.
How Businesses Can Adopt Climate Quitting Practices
Companies like Ikea have pledged to become climate positive by 2030, looking to reduce more greenhouse gas emissions than the Ikea value chain emits, effectively "quitting" their climate impact.
Strategies for Chief Sustainability OfficersChief Sustainability Officers (CSOs) are the architects of a company’s ESG strategy. They must innovate and implement practices that not only adhere to sustainability principles but also contribute positively to the company's profitability and brand value.
Key Strategies for Implementing Sustainability
A key strategy for CSOs is to integrate sustainability into every business decision, making it a core aspect of the company culture and operations rather than a side project or marketing afterthought.
The Role of Chief Audit Executives in SustainabilityChief Audit Executives (CAEs) have a critical role in ensuring that a company's sustainability efforts are not just promises but are being put into practice effectively and transparently.
Auditing for Sustainability and ESG Compliance
CAEs are responsible for verifying the integrity of sustainability reports, ensuring that the company's ESG claims are accurate, reliable, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Inspiring Curiosity and Creativity in ESG EffortsSustainable business practices thrive on continuous innovation and a willingness to explore new possibilities. Encouraging a corporate culture that prizes curiosity and creativity is essential for developing effective ESG strategies that can lead to significant environmental and social benefits.
Encouraging Innovation in ESG Strategies
Companies like Google have leveraged their innovative culture to drive sustainability. By using machine learning to optimize data center cooling, they've reduced energy consumption significantly, showcasing how technological creativity can lead to substantial ESG gains.
The Financial Implications of ESG for BusinessesThe integration of ESG principles is not only a moral imperative but also a financial one. Companies that adopt robust ESG practices often see improvements in their financial performance, as these practices can lead to operational efficiencies, open up new markets, and improve the company's reputation.
Cost-Benefit Analysis of ESG Investments
Research shows that companies with strong ESG profiles tend to have lower cost of capital, lower volatility, and fewer instances of bribery, corruption, and fraud.
Legal and Ethical Considerations in ESGAs the world becomes more aware of the need for sustainable practices, the legal landscape is also changing to reflect these values. Companies are increasingly held accountable for their ESG performance, not just by regulators but also by their customers and the wider public.
Understanding ESG Regulations
Firms need to stay abreast of the evolving regulatory requirements related to sustainability to avoid legal pitfalls and capitalize on incentives for sustainable practices.
Consumer Perspectives on Sustainable Business PracticesToday's consumers are more environmentally conscious and are demanding greater transparency and responsibility from businesses. Companies that respond to this by embedding sustainability into their brand and operations often find a more loyal customer base and improved brand value.
Market Research on Consumer Expectations
Surveys consistently show that a significant percentage of consumers are willing to pay more for sustainable products and are more likely to purchase from companies with strong environmental commitments.
International Collaboration for Sustainable BusinessSustainability challenges are global in nature and require a coordinated international response. Businesses that engage in international collaboration can leverage collective resources and knowledge to accelerate progress towards sustainability goals.
Global Partnerships and Initiatives
Examples include the RE100 initiative, which brings together influential businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity, and the Science Based Targets initiative, which helps companies set ambitious carbon reduction targets.
Technological Disruptions and Sustainable BusinessInnovation in technology not only disrupts industries but also offers new pathways to sustainability. From renewable energy technologies to biodegradable materials, disruptive technologies are enabling businesses to reduce their environmental impact while also driving growth.
Emerging Technologies Shaping Sustainability
Biotechnology, for instance, is allowing for the development of materials and processes that are not only environmentally friendly but also economically viable, such as biofuels and bioplastics.
Measuring the Impact of Sustainable PracticesFor sustainability efforts to be effective, they must be measurable. Businesses are adopting various metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and communicate the impact of their sustainability initiatives.
Metrics and KPIs for ESG Performance
These include carbon footprint measurements, water and energy usage metrics, and social impact scores that quantify a company's contributions to community well-being.
Overcoming Challenges in Sustainable Business TransformationThe road to sustainability is fraught with challenges, from technical and financial hurdles to resistance to change. Successful businesses are those that can navigate these challenges with agility and resilience.
Common Obstacles and How to Navigate Them
Innovation in business models, such as adopting a service-based rather than ownership-based approach, can help overcome some of these barriers. For instance, Philips' 'Light as a Service' model ensures that they retain ownership of their lighting products, thus being responsible for their end-of-life processing.
Future Trends in Business SustainabilityAs the horizon of sustainability in business broadens, anticipating and preparing for future trends is crucial for staying ahead. Businesses that can predict and adapt to these trends will not only survive but thrive in the new sustainable economy.
Predictions for the Next Decade
Businesses can expect to see increased regulation around sustainability, a rise in consumer activism, and a significant shift towards a circular economy. Innovations like carbon capture and storage, advanced recycling techniques, and the proliferation of sustainable energy solutions will likely become mainstream.
Educating for Sustainability: Training and DevelopmentAs sustainability becomes a core component of business strategy, the need for a workforce that understands and can implement sustainable practices becomes critical. Companies must invest in training and development to equip their employees with the knowledge and skills required for this transition.
Programs and Resources for ESG Education
Leading businesses are partnering with educational institutions to develop courses and certifications in sustainability. These programs not only cover environmental aspects but also social and governance factors, preparing a new generation of business leaders adept in all facets of ESG.
Sustainability Reporting and TransparencyTransparent reporting of sustainability practices is essential for accountability and trust-building with stakeholders. As such, sustainability reporting has become a standardized business practice, providing insights into a company’s ESG performance and areas for improvement.
Best Practices for ESG Reporting
Frameworks like the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and standards set by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) guide businesses in disclosing their ESG performance in a structured and comparable manner.
The Intersection of Sustainability and Corporate GovernanceEffective corporate governance is essential to ensure that sustainability is integrated into the strategic decision-making process. This involves board oversight of sustainability initiatives, ensuring they align with the company's long-term goals.
Board Responsibilities in ESG
Boards are increasingly holding management accountable for sustainability performance, often linking executive compensation to ESG metrics to ensure alignment of interests.
Sustainable Supply Chain ManagementA company’s sustainability is only as robust as its supply chain. Sustainable supply chain management involves ensuring that all aspects of the supply chain, from raw material extraction to product end-of-life, are managed in accordance with ESG principles.
Strategies for ESG in Supply Chains
To achieve this, companies are employing strategies such as supplier assessments, sustainable procurement policies, and investing in supply chain resilience to address environmental risks.
Engaging Stakeholders in Sustainability EffortsStakeholder engagement is a cornerstone of effective sustainability strategies. Companies must engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and the community, to develop comprehensive and inclusive sustainability initiatives.
Techniques for Stakeholder Engagement
Effective engagement can include regular stakeholder meetings, collaborative projects, and platforms for stakeholders to voice their opinions and concerns regarding the company’s sustainability practices.
Conclusion: The Future of Sustainability in BusinessThe journey towards sustainability is an ongoing process of learning, adapting, and innovating. As businesses continue to navigate this path, the collective efforts will shape a future where economic growth and environmental stewardship are not mutually exclusive but are integrated for the betterment of society and the planet.

The Creative Process: A Journey from Inspiration to Realization
The creative process is a fascinating journey that every artist, writer, and innovator embarks upon. It's a path that transforms a fleeting thought into a tangible masterpiece. While creativity is often seen as a spontaneous burst of inspiration, understanding its structured process can enhance one's ability to harness and channel it effectively. The pioneering work of Graham Wallas in the early 20th century laid the foundation for our modern understanding of the creative process. Let's delve into this intricate journey.
Stages of the Creative Process
Balancing Inspiration and Generation
Creativity is a dance between the internal world of inspiration and the external act of generation. While inspiration provides the fuel, generation is the engine that propels ideas forward. It's essential to strike a balance between these two forces. Dreaming without doing can leave ideas trapped in the mind, while doing without dreaming can lead to uninspired outcomes. The magic lies in harmonizing these opposing forces, allowing them to feed off each other.
Common Challenges in the Creative Process
Every creative journey has its hurdles. One might face the daunting shadow of a creative block, where ideas seem elusive. Or there's the trap of haste, where one might rush through stages, missing out on the depth and richness of a fully nurtured idea. Recognizing these challenges is the first step to overcoming them. With awareness and patience, one can navigate these obstacles, ensuring that the creative flame keeps burning bright.
The creative process
The creative process, while mystical in its essence, follows a structured journey. By understanding and respecting each stage, one can enhance the quality and impact of their creations. As Graham Wallas emphasized, creativity is not just about spontaneous bursts of inspiration but a disciplined process that, when followed, can lead to groundbreaking innovations. Embrace the journey, respect the process, and let the world be awed by your creations.

*Virtual Event Hosting: A Guide to Excelling as the Face Behind the Screen*
Thriving in the Expanding Arena of Virtual Event HostingThe global shift towards virtual platforms has reshaped many facets of our lives, and the realm of events is no exception. As physical gatherings take a back seat, the demand for virtual event hosting is burgeoning, creating new opportunities and roles within the digital space. Among these is the role of a virtual emcee or host, a position that stands as the backbone of any virtual gathering.
The Significance of a Virtual EmceeThe role of a virtual emcee is indispensable for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of virtual events. Serving as the glue that holds everything together, virtual emcees welcome attendees, introduce speakers, moderate panels, and make sure the event theme is cohesive throughout the various segments. With events transcending global borders, having a capable host to seamlessly integrate various elements, even from different countries and time zones, is paramount. As demonstrated in an event featuring Steve Wozniak and production teams from across the globe, a competent emcee can cohesively bind disparate elements to craft a unified and engaging virtual experience.
Essential Skills for Effective Virtual Hosting1. Improv Skills: In the virtual world where technical glitches are inevitable, the ability to think on one’s feet is essential. Virtual hosts must be adept at handling unexpected issues, filling in gaps, and maintaining the flow of the event without missing a beat. 2. Empathy and Team Collaboration: A successful virtual emcee is empathetic and collaborative, understanding the needs and challenges of speakers, organizers, and the audience to create a harmonious and inclusive event environment. 3. Technological Savvy: Comfort and proficiency with technology are crucial as virtual emcees often manage various digital aspects, ensuring that all technical elements function seamlessly for a flawless event experience. 4. Responsive to Direction: The ability to take and swiftly act on directions from producers or organizers is fundamental for keeping the event on track, adapting to real-time changes and maintaining the planned schedule. 5. Effective Communication: Global events require clear, concise, and effective communication. A skilled virtual host effectively utilizes body language and expressions, ensuring that their messages transcend language and cultural barriers.
Seizing the OpportunityThe surge in demand for virtual event hosting presents a lucrative opportunity for speakers and professionals adept in these areas. Even as organizations shy away from large in-person gatherings, the need for individuals who can hold the virtual space with confidence and competence is continually escalating. Understanding the intricacies of a brand, internalizing its language and values, and even aligning with its visual identity, like incorporating corporate colors into attire, can enhance the hosting experience, reinforcing the brand's presence in the virtual domain.
As the world further embraces virtual platforms, the role of virtual event hosting will continue to grow in prominence and demand. Speakers and professionals equipped with the necessary skills and adaptability can seize this opportunity to expand their horizons, contributing significantly to the evolution of virtual events. The virtual event host stands as the linchpin, ensuring not just the smooth operation but the enhanced experience and success of virtual gatherings worldwide.
TRANSCRIPT
So, there's a job role I'm seeing, or position I'm seeing in more and more virtual events. And I think, if you're a speaker, a presenter, who really wants to maybe add a new revenue stream to what you're doing, I think this is a huge opportunity. And it's the role of the virtual emcee or the virtual host. And I'm going to talk to you about the kind of skill set I think is required to be a good virtual host. And I want to talk to you about why I believe this is going to be a trend more generally as well, it's going to be more requests. I've been doing virtual hosting events since about 2016. And really, the role of the virtual post or the virtual MC is to be the glue that holds the whole thing together. You're the person that's on camera, you're the person who's welcoming people into the event, who's introducing one speaker, the next speaker, the person who's doing the outro is from them, the partners who kind of linking one section together, the person who's talking about the event theme and threading that through everything you do, maybe you're also doing some panel moderation as well, you're really the glue. And I think some speakers can actually fulfill this job very well, if I know some speakers, including myself, who can do both great keynote speaking and also could be a virtual emcee. It's not right for everyone. But if you have the skill set, this is a huge opportunity, because it's very in demand just now. So, I think to do this well, you have to be this kind of glue. You also have to be comfortable in not just being the sage on the stage. But being the guide on the side. That person who guides an audience through a virtual event, that could be something as simple as a two-hour event, two-hour meeting, it could be something as complex as a multi-day virtual conference with lots and lots of speakers, I think the largest one ever did, we had 140 speakers on them.
I'll give you another example. When I was doing the other day, I was brought in as the virtual emcee for this event, and about 10,000 attendees on it. I'm doing everything live from my studio in the United Kingdom. We had Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple on; he was doing his live keynote to present his live presentation. From a studio in California, we had the main event production team who are in Argentina in Buenos Aires. And then we had another studio in Spain, I believe, as well. And all this is going on all this as feeds. And so my job as the virtual emcee is to be the glue is to bring this together is to be welcoming is to ensure that the event theme is running through it to also moderate some of the panels that are going on and some of the conversations that are going on as well, and be able to just kind of take the flow of the overall event.
So you can have almost a little bit of the face of the event. So there's a number of things. I think if you want to do this well, skills I tend to see in good virtual MCs or virtual hosts. The first one I would say is they have to be very good improvisers. Because as great as virtual is, sometimes things go wrong, sometimes a guest speaker is coming in, their feed is not working correctly, or they can't hear you or there's some problems going. So you have to be very comfortable working on camera life, and being pretty much unflappable and being able to improvise. And suddenly in the middle of nowhere, where you're suddenly told in your earpiece, "hey, the speaker isn't able to get a connection with us. So we need you to just riff on something for five minutes." And not every speaker has the ability; comedians, I often find people that come in from a comedy or an acting background, they can usually do this pretty well.
Not every speaker necessarily feels comfortable in doing this. But if you're quite happy, if someone said to you, "we need you to go and talk about this random topic for five minutes on stage and just kind of get through that," then if you're the kind of person that could do that virtual emceeing could be for you.
The other thing I think you have to have is a simpatico and empathy for your audience. And for the other people that are involved in the event, the other speakers, for example, in the team. So being very empathetic towards them being a real team player. Once again, not all special keynote speakers can do this, a lot of keynote speakers, are lone wolves, they're just happy to come in, give the speech and then go back out again, that's fine. But with virtual hosts or MCs, they need to be much more of a team player.
The third thing I would say is you have to be pretty good with technology and be very comfortable with technology as well. Because especially in the role of the virtual emcee for a lot of events, you're not necessarily going to big production studios, maybe like a TV show word or live TV live broadcast. Maybe you're doing all from your home studio. So you have to know pretty much how everything works. You need to have redundancies. What if that microphone fails don’t have a backup, what if the internet goes down? Do I have a backup? Once again, not everyone has that.
You have to have the ability to be able to take direction. So like that event I just mentioned, where I'm giving moderate moderating or giving a virtual emcee role that event, I've got a producer event producer in my ear, giving me you know, suggestions of okay, this is where we should go next. And being able to respond to that. And if you've been doing TV, you'll have probably broadcast news. No problem. This is this is your bread and butter. But for a lot of people that can be a little bit weird, it can be a bit disconcerting, especially like some of the events I do. They're in multiple languages. And you're hearing maybe the previous speakers talking in Spanish, and you're trying to figure that out as well, which also leads me to think leads me to this idea being of just a good general communicator, especially big large global conferences, you need to be able to use your body language, use your facial expressions, in a way, unusual language in a way that's a little bit more constrained, a little bit more focused, not so much big words.
Sometimes you have to be a little more focused in your speaking but here's the opportunity in 2000, I've been doing virtual events for many years and emceeing them. But in 2020, I just got so many requests to do virtual emceeing because many companies decided rather than do they can't do the in-person conference, where they would normally bring in a keynote speaker to be the keynote opening or the closing keynote speaker. So in this light said they decided to run a virtual event. But they don't really want to spend the budget on bringing a keynote speaker, and multiple keynote speakers. But they do need to have someone that can just have pulled the whole thing together. And can can do virtual.
So here's what the opportunity is. And I see this more and more where more conferences will be not only looking for that professional keynote speaker, especially under under a certain size, they will be looking for someone to be the glue to hold the whole thing together to be able to know that the event theme to be able to understand the values of the brand. Understand the way that the brand likes to speak about itself, sometimes called a brand guide, the brand will have to have a guy that's how we like to speak.
These are the kind of words that we use as a moderator or as a sort of virtual emcee or host, you need to internalize this, and really understand this and be able to present it as well. Even very simple thing I'm wearing this just now this is one event I did the other day. And I looked at I asked the client, can you give me your brand guide. And I noticed that this color was one of their corporate colors. So as I am the host on screen for this, I'm ensuring that I'm wearing their corporate colors.
These are very fine, detailed, little things. That mean that the role of virtual emcee or the virtual host can can really excel. It's an unusual job. It's not right for everyone, not everyone wants to do it. But there's so much opportunities because it's going to be a little bit slower for some of those in-person events to be happening. But every single day, there's hundreds 1000s of events happening virtually. And some of these really quick big events, where they're looking for that virtual moderator or host or emcee.
So have a think about that for yourself. If you're speaking, I mentioned some of these different skills, being able to improvise, being cool under pressure, understanding a little bit of technology as well. Being able to take direction being a team player. If this sounds like you, and you have the presentation skills you do as a speaker, virtual emceeing and virtual hosting could be a great additional, it doesn't have to be your main thing, but can produce maybe 25% of your revenues in a year increases the diversity of your income streams.

The terms "creativity" and "innovation" are often used interchangeably in casual conversation. However, in a more formal or technical context, they represent distinct, albeit interconnected, concepts. Creativity is typically seen as the ability to generate new, original ideas, while innovation is the ability to implement these ideas into practical, valuable solutions. The distinctions and the interplay between these two concepts are vital for personal development, business success, and societal progress. This article delves into the realms of creativity and innovation, exploring their differences, their significance, and how they fuel the engine of progress.
Defining CreativityCreativity is the wellspring from which new ideas flow. It's the spark that ignites the flame of original thought, the breeze that sails the ship of imagination into uncharted waters. Creativity is inherent in us all, a trait that can be nurtured and honed through practice and an open mind. It encapsulates the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. Creativity is about stretching the mind beyond the conventional to the realm of the possible, sometimes to the seemingly impossible.
Defining InnovationInnovation, on the other hand, is the structured implementation of the ideas borne from creativity. It's about bringing these ideas to life in the form of products, services, or processes that add value to individuals, organizations, or society at large. Unlike creativity, which is about generating novel ideas, innovation is about applying these ideas in a practical, effective manner. It's about taking calculated risks, overcoming challenges, and introducing new, improved solutions to existing problems.
Historical Evolution of Creativity and InnovationTracing back through history, one can see the imprints of creativity and innovation in the tapestry of human progress. From the invention of the wheel to the creation of the internet, each milestone stands as a testament to human creativity and the innovative spirit. Each era, from the Renaissance to the Industrial Revolution and the Information Age, showcased a blend of creativity and innovation that propelled society forward.
The Twin Engines of Progress: Creativity and InnovationCreativity and innovation are often seen as the twin engines driving the vehicle of progress. Creativity fuels the engine with a continuous supply of new ideas while innovation ensures the engine runs efficiently by implementing these ideas effectively. Together, they form a synergistic relationship, each feeding off the other, propelling individuals, organizations, and society towards betterment.
What is the Difference Between Creativity and Innovation?Understanding the difference between creativity and innovation is crucial for anyone looking to foster either or both in their personal or professional lives. Creativity is about breaking free from traditional thought patterns and exploring new horizons of thinking. It's about challenging the status quo and daring to think differently. Innovation, on the other hand, is about taking the ideas generated through creativity and turning them into tangible, valuable solutions. It's about executing and implementing ideas in a way that adds value to the world around us.
The Process of CreativityThe creative process often starts with a spark of inspiration but it's more than just a fleeting moment of genius. It’s a journey that involves several stages. It begins with preparation where one gathers information and resources. This is followed by incubation, a period where one lets the subconscious mind work on the problem. Then comes the illumination or the "Aha!" moment when a novel idea emerges. The final stage is verification, where the idea is refined and its value is assessed.
The Process of InnovationInnovation, in contrast, is a more structured process. It begins with the identification of a problem or an opportunity. This is followed by the generation of ideas, often fueled by creativity. Next comes the selection of the most promising idea, which is then developed into a practical solution. The final stages involve testing, refining, and eventually implementing the solution in the real world.
Real-world Examples of CreativityCreativity shines in various fields like art, literature, and music. For instance, the abstract paintings of Picasso, the poetic expressions of Maya Angelou, or the unique musical compositions of Beethoven, all demonstrate the boundless realms of creativity.
Real-world Examples of InnovationInnovation, on the other hand, is prominently seen in the field of technology and business. Companies like Apple and Tesla are often heralded as the epitome of innovation for their groundbreaking products and services that have significantly impacted the market and consumer behaviors.
The Role of Creativity in Personal DevelopmentCreativity nurtures mental growth by encouraging curiosity, exploration, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. It enables individuals to view problems from different perspectives and to find unique solutions.
The Role of Innovation in Business SuccessIn the business realm, innovation is the key to competitiveness and sustainability. It helps businesses adapt to changing market dynamics, improve their processes, and deliver enhanced value to their customers.
Measuring CreativityMeasuring creativity can be subjective and complex. However, there are certain tools like the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT) that aim to quantify creative abilities by assessing divergent thinking and problem-solving skills.
Measuring InnovationUnlike creativity, innovation can be somewhat easier to measure. Metrics like the number of new products launched, the rate of successful project implementations, or the level of investment in research and development are common indicators of innovation.
Encouraging Creativity in the WorkplaceCreating a supportive environment, promoting open communication, and providing opportunities for continuous learning are some ways to foster creativity within a workplace.
Encouraging Innovation in the WorkplaceFor innovation, it's crucial to create a culture of experimentation, provide necessary resources, and reward innovative efforts to motivate employees to think outside the box and contribute to the innovation process.
Challenges in Fostering Creativity and InnovationBarriers like a rigid organizational structure, resistance to change, or a lack of resources can stifle creativity and innovation. Overcoming these challenges requires a committed leadership and a conducive organizational culture.
The Future of Creativity and InnovationWith the advent of emerging technologies like AI and machine learning, the landscape of creativity and innovation is bound to evolve, opening new horizons for exploration and development.
Education for Creativity and InnovationEducation systems that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and a growth mindset are fundamental in nurturing the next generation of creative and innovative thinkers.
Tools and Resources for Enhancing CreativityVarious tools and resources like brainstorming software, creativity workshops, and online courses can help individuals hone their creative skills.
Tools and Resources for Enhancing InnovationSimilarly, resources like innovation management software, training programs, and collaborative platforms can foster innovation within organizations.
Impact of Creativity on SocietyCreativity fuels cultural, social, and even political evolution by enabling individuals to envision alternative realities and challenge existing norms.

AI For Marketing: How Generative AI is Transforming Marketeers

FULL TRANSCRIPT
Hey there, James Taylor here, keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends. Today, I’m in Dubai, speaking at an event called Tribe. This gathering of top chief marketing officers from across the region has been organized by Khaleej Times. In about an hour, I’ll be giving the opening keynote, so follow along to get a sense of what this event is all about.
The Khaleej Times Tribe EventI just got off stage after speaking at the Khaleej Times Tribe event. It was a fantastic gathering that brought together around 250 of the top chief marketing officers from the Middle East region. The atmosphere was great, with attendees excited to be with their peers in the marketing industry. My talk focused on ChatGPT and its impact on marketers and their work. More broadly, I discussed the concept of super creativity and how we can augment our creative abilities, particularly for marketers, with generative AI technologies.
The Rise of Generative AIAlthough AI has been around since 1956, the generative AI we’re talking about is still relatively new, with tools like ChatGPT being very recent developments. This technology is moving from being the domain of academics, scientists, and programmers to something anyone can use. As a result, we’re witnessing a Cambrian explosion of ideas and creativity, with people using it for various purposes, including business and personal projects.
The Impact of Generative AI on JobsA recent report by Goldman Sachs suggests that around 300 million jobs will either disappear or be radically transformed due to generative AI technologies, which will also contribute to countries’ GDPs. This wave of AI and automation will impact white-collar jobs, such as copywriters, marketers, and designers. My perspective is that we should view these technologies as potential collaborators rather than just tools.
The Entrepreneurial Aspect of Generative AIHowever, there is a caveat. These AI technologies can be likened to really smart graduates who have just come out of university: they possess extensive knowledge but lack street smarts. This is where the entrepreneurial aspect comes in. Just as entrepreneurs found ways to augment their work with electricity, we’ll see new businesses and jobs emerge from marketing innovations driven by generative AI technologies.
Embracing Generative AI as a MarketerAs a marketer, it’s an exciting time to explore these tools. While some jobs will disappear, the work that remains will involve augmenting human curiosity, creativity, and a unique perspective on the world. To adapt, you’ll need to learn about these tools, become comfortable with them, and understand that there isn’t just one tool for every task. This is where industry experience and street smarts come into play, helping you choose the right generative AI tool for the right task.
So, dive in and start experimenting with these technologies. It might be overwhelming at first, but it’s crucial to embrace them and explore their potential. As we move toward the future of super creativity and the augmentation of human curiosity, don’t miss out on the opportunities they offer.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Khaleej Times Tribe event provided an exciting platform for top chief marketing officers to come together and explore the possibilities of generative AI technologies. James Taylor’s keynote speech highlighted the impact of ChatGPT on marketing. While generative AI technologies may disrupt traditional job roles, they also present opportunities for collaboration and entrepreneurial innovation.
As marketers, it is important to adapt to this changing landscape by embracing generative AI tools and harnessing their potential to enhance our creative abilities. By combining human curiosity, creativity, and a unique perspective with AI technologies, we can unlock new levels of innovation and stay ahead in the dynamic world of marketing.

Observing Your Competition: How It Can Help Improve Your Craft

Have you ever heard the saying, “keep your friends close, but your enemies closer?” When it comes to creative work, it can be beneficial to observe and analyze your competition. James Taylor, a keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends, shares his personal experience of how observing other musicians helped his father become a better jazz guitarist. In this article, we’ll explore the importance of observing your competition and how it can help improve your craft.
James Taylor’s ExperienceJames Taylor shares a personal story about his father’s experience as a jazz guitarist. His father had his first big professional gig on a ship called the QE2 when he was just 15 years old. He learned a lot from the other musicians and band leaders, but he also made sure to watch other bands perform, especially one with a guitarist whose playing he disliked. This approach allowed him to reflect on his own choices and consider alternative options in his music.
Taylor believes that this same approach can be applied to any creative field. By observing your competition, you can gain new perspectives and insights, identify strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately improve your own craft.
The Benefits of Observing Your CompetitionGaining New PerspectivesObserving your competition can provide new perspectives that you may not have considered before. By seeing how others approach a particular task or project, you can learn new techniques, tools, and methodologies that you can apply to your own work. Additionally, observing the work of others can inspire creativity and encourage you to explore new possibilities.
Identifying Strengths and WeaknessesAnalyzing the work of your competition can also help you identify your own strengths and weaknesses. By examining the successes and failures of others, you can gain a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t in your industry. This knowledge can help you improve your own skills and make better decisions when it comes to your creative work.
Staying Up-to-Date with Industry TrendsKeeping up-to-date with industry trends is essential for any creative professional. By observing your competition, you can stay current with the latest developments in your field. This knowledge can help you remain relevant and competitive in your industry.
Encouraging InnovationObserving your competition can also encourage innovation. By analyzing the work of others, you can identify gaps in the market or areas where you can differentiate yourself from your competitors. This can inspire you to think outside the box and come up with new and innovative ideas.
How to Effectively Observe Your CompetitionObserving your competition effectively requires a strategic approach. Here are some tips to help you get started:
Attend Industry EventsAttending industry events such as conferences, trade shows, and exhibitions can provide an opportunity to network with peers and observe the work of your competition. By attending these events, you can see firsthand what others in your industry are doing and gain new insights into your field.
Read and ResearchReading and researching the work of your competition is another effective way to observe their work. By studying their projects, portfolios, and case studies, you can gain a better understanding of their approach to creative work. This can help you identify what sets them apart from others in your industry and gain insights into their techniques and methodologies.
Network with PeersNetworking with peers in your industry can also provide an opportunity to observe the work of your competition. By building relationships with others in your field, you can gain access to their projects and learn from their experiences. Additionally, networking can help you stay up-to-date with industry trends and build your professional reputation.
Use Critical ThinkingWhen observing the work of your competition, it’s important to use critical thinking. Rather than blindly copying what others are doing, take the time to analyze their work and understand the reasoning behind their decisions. Ask yourself why they made certain choices and consider whether those choices align with your own creative vision.
Overcoming Negative Emotions and Comparing Yourself to OthersObserving your competition can sometimes lead to negative emotions, such as jealousy or self-doubt. It’s important to recognize these feelings and address them in a constructive way. Remember that everyone has their own unique strengths and weaknesses, and comparing yourself to others will only hinder your own creative growth.
Instead, focus on what you can learn from your competition and how you can apply those insights to your own work. Use critical thinking to identify areas where you can improve and set goals for yourself based on what you observe.
ConclusionObserving your competition can be a valuable tool for improving your craft as a creative professional. By gaining new perspectives, identifying strengths and weaknesses, staying up-to-date with industry trends, and encouraging innovation, you can take your work to the next level. However, it’s important to approach observation with a strategic mindset and use critical thinking to analyze the work of others
FULL TRANSCRIPT
Hello, James Taylor here, a keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends. Today, I want to discuss how observing your competition can help you improve your craft. Currently, I am in Dubai, giving keynotes, speeches, and meeting with clients in a trendy design area called Alserkal. There are numerous nice restaurants, galleries, and even a food festival happening here, offering amazing regional dishes.
While in Dubai, I had the opportunity to visit what I believe to be the largest floating library in the world. On my way there, I passed by another ship called the QE2, the Queen Elizabeth 2. Interestingly, my father, a jazz guitarist, had his first big professional gig on this ship when he was just 15 years old. He learned a lot from the other musicians and band leaders, but he also made sure to watch other bands perform, especially one with a guitarist whose playing he disliked. This approach allowed him to reflect on his own choices and consider alternative options in his music.
When it comes to critical and creative thinking, it’s helpful to analyze and challenge the decisions made by others. For example, when I read a book, I keep a journal or notepad with a line down the middle. On the left side, I write down everything I agree with or any ideas that come to me while reading. On the right side, I note all the things I disagree with or elements I think the writer could have done better.
So, give this a try: if there’s someone whose work you don’t appreciate in your field, consider how you could approach your craft differently, taking the opposite direction of their choices. Likewise, when reading a book, jot down your agreements and disagreements with the writer to better understand their decisions and how they relate to your creative work.
My name is James Taylor, and I’m here on the beautiful Alserkal Avenue in Dubai. Thanks for watching.

As a keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends, James Taylor recently gave a talk on SuperCreativity and facilitated a workshop on Unlocking Creative Potential for the Family Business Forum in Wichita, Kansas. During the event, he shared insights on how to augment our human curiosity in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) and how generative AI tools like ChatGPT can be used to generate creative questions and solutions to various challenges. In this article, we’ll explore the highlights of James Taylor’s talk and workshop and how you can use generative AI tools to unlock your creative potential.
SuperCreativity: Augmenting Human Curiosity in the Age of AIArtificial intelligence is transforming the way we live, work, and play. From autonomous vehicles to virtual assistants, AI has the potential to make our lives easier, more efficient, and more enjoyable. However, as AI becomes more pervasive, it also poses a challenge to our human curiosity. With machines doing more of the work, we risk becoming less curious and less creative.
That’s where SuperCreativity comes in. SuperCreativity is about leveraging our human curiosity to create new ideas and solutions that machines cannot. By combining our innate creativity with the power of AI, we can augment our curiosity and unleash our full creative potential. James Taylor shared several tips on how to cultivate SuperCreativity, including:
Embrace Diversity and CollaborationSuperCreativity thrives on diversity and collaboration. When people from different backgrounds and perspectives come together and share ideas, they can generate novel solutions to complex problems. James Taylor emphasized the importance of creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone’s ideas are valued and respected.
Embrace Change and ExperimentationSuperCreativity requires a willingness to embrace change and experiment with new ideas and tools. James Taylor encouraged attendees to stay open-minded and to try new things, even if they feel uncomfortable or unfamiliar. By embracing change and experimentation, we can unlock our full creative potential and discover new possibilities.
Embrace Generative AI ToolsGenerative AI tools like ChatGPT can be powerful tools for unlocking our creative potential. By using AI to generate creative questions and solutions, we can free up our minds to explore new ideas and possibilities. James Taylor shared several examples of how generative AI tools can be used in various industries, from finance to real estate to food production.
Unlocking Creative Potential with ChatGPTDuring the workshop, attendees had the opportunity to experiment with using ChatGPT to generate creative questions and solutions to different challenges. ChatGPT is a state-of-the-art language model developed by OpenAI that can generate human-like text based on a prompt. By inputting a topic or a question, ChatGPT can generate a variety of responses that can spark new ideas and insights.
James Taylor guided attendees through the process of using ChatGPT to generate creative questions related to different challenges. By inputting a challenge or a problem, attendees generated a list of questions that they could use to explore different angles and possibilities. James Taylor emphasized that ChatGPT is not a replacement for human creativity but rather a tool that can augment and enhance our creative abilities.
ConclusionSuperCreativity and Unlocking Creative Potential with Generative AI Tools are essential skills for the 21st century. As AI becomes more pervasive, we need to cultivate our innate creativity and curiosity to stay relevant and competitive. By embracing diversity, change, and experimentation, and by leveraging the power of generative AI tools like ChatGPT, we can unlock our full creative potential and discover new possibilities.

Hello, I’m James Taylor, a keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends. Currently, I am in Wichita, Kansas, in the Midwest of the United States. I have just finished a keynote and a workshop. The keynote was on SuperCreativity, which focused on augmenting our human curiosity in the age of artificial intelligence, while the workshop was about Unlocking Creative Potential. The organization that I was speaking for was the Family Business Forum, which brought together top family businesses from various industries here in Kansas.
I find that workshops work really well when people from different backgrounds and perspectives come together and brainstorm and share ideas, as they did today. One thing that resonated with people the most today is how many are starting to not only talk about things like artificial intelligence, especially generative AI tools like ChatGPT, but actually use them and experiment with them. I have been speaking about generative AI since 2018, initially to the financial services and banking industry. However, the use of generative AI tools has spread to various industries, including real estate, food services, and food production industries, among others.
In the workshop, people experimented with using ChatGPT to generate creative and curious questions related to different challenges, which was really fun. If you’re interested in learning more about ChatGPT, you can visit OpenAI’s website, where you can learn more about it and sign up for the free or paid version. If you’re looking for a keynote speaker to talk about ChatGPT or other generative AI tools and their impact on different industries, you can head over to my website, JamesTaylor.me. I want to give a shout-out to the Executive Speaker’s Bureau and the team there who brought me in for this event. If you’re looking for a speaker on any topic, go and check them out. They do an amazing job.
Overall, it was a great event, and I had a fantastic time sharing applicable tools with the attendees. As the use of generative AI tools continues to grow and evolve, it’s exciting to see how various industries are applying them. If you want to stay updated on the latest tools and products, you can follow experts on Twitter and TikTok, where they share new tools and how they’re using them in their businesses. From Wichita, Kansas, see you later!

Hello, I am James Taylor, a keynote speaker specializing in creativity, innovation, and future trends. Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking at the European conference for Meeting Professionals International (MPI) held in Brighton, England. MPI is a group of professionals who organize conferences, events, meetings, and incentive events worldwide. It was an amazing event, and I had the opportunity to co-keynote with Alison Burns on our program called The Ethical Futurists. In this program, we explore the future and what it might look like. My focus was on innovation, technology, and future trends, while Alison looked at sustainability from an ESG perspective. Together, we had a fantastic combination on stage that made for an interesting dynamic. It was a little bit unusual having both a male and female as co-keynotes, but the audience enjoyed it immensely.
During the event, Alison discussed sustainability and how to approach it from a meetings and conferences perspective. I, on the other hand, talked about creativity and collaboration and how it applies to the world of events. I also touched on the role of Generative AI, a technology that has been gaining a lot of attention lately. Generative AI is getting very close to the Turing Test in its ability to imitate humans, and it has the potential to make events more innovative, creative, and sustainable. One of the Generative AI platforms I talked about was ChatGPT.
I noticed that sometimes, when referring to these Generative AI tools, they are referred to as just tools like a paintbrush or a pen. However, I believe that this limits our perspective. Rather than just tools, we should think of them as collaborators or co-creators. This shift in perspective can help us generate better ideas and foster more creativity and sustainability in events. One of the advantages that humans have in collaboration with Generative AI is our ability to ask questions. This is where our creativity comes into play. By asking better questions, we can get better results.
It’s understandable that people are concerned about whether Generative AI will take their jobs. However, I believe that it will create new opportunities for collaboration between humans and machines. If you are an executive or a creative professional, don’t worry that AI will take your job. Rather, focus on the new possibilities it creates and how you can work with it. If you’re interested in learning more about my keynotes and talks, as well as interviews with other guests on topics like AI and Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, please visit my website at JamesTaylor.me. And if you’d like to know more about The Ethical Futurists and how we can help you with your event’s sustainability, future trends, or innovation, visit our website at TheEthicalFuturists.com. Hello there, I’m James Taylor, a keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends. Currently, I’m in beautiful Casablanca, Morocco, in Northern Africa. I’m here to speak to one of the world’s largest payment companies and their clients from around the world. Come along with me and see how we get on.
Just now, I’ve come offstage in Casablanca, Morocco, after a great session. It was attended by 160 bankers from all over the African continent. The audience was very interactive, and the client and I decided to make the session really engaging and collaborative, considering that attendees were from different organizations. I taught them a series of creative thinking tools, and by the end of the session, 95% of the audience raised their hand, claiming they now consider themselves creative, a significant shift from the initial 5% who thought so at the start. It’s always fulfilling to see that transformation in the room as a speaker.
As a speaker, when traveling to different places, I always learn from other people’s stories. Here in Morocco, there is a phrase that says, “when a storyteller dies, a library burns.” It means that everyone has stories within them, and we have to share them if they can be useful or help others. Coming off stage today, many people approached me, saying they were inspired to learn about becoming speakers, and some even overcame their fear of public speaking. I act as a messenger to share other people’s stories with audiences, hoping to create a transformation in the room.
It was a fun day, and I’m looking forward to exploring more of Morocco in the coming days. If you are looking for a keynote speaker for your next event in Casablanca or nearby Marrakech, please check out Jamestaylor.me. Thank you for watching.

FULL TRANSCRIPT
Hello, I’m James Taylor and I’m speaking about creativity, innovation, and future trends from Cancun, Mexico, where I was the closing keynote speaker for an International Management Conference hosted by one of Europe’s biggest companies. In this video, I’m going to share with you my process for writing, preparing, and delivering a keynote. This information is useful if you’re looking to book a keynote speaker, as it can help you understand the questions to ask and how to prepare the speaker for the best possible keynote. However, if you’re a keynote speaker, this video can provide some insight into how I prepare and deliver my keynotes, although every speaker has their own approach. For me, each keynote is tailor-made for the client, which means that no two speeches are the same. Unlike some speakers who give the same speech with minor changes, I delve into future trends, which are always evolving, and I focus on understanding the organization.
I will now share what I call Taylor’s 7 T’s, my preparation process for a keynote. The client approached me in November, and we had a discovery call to ensure we were a good fit for each other. During this call, I explored the topic for their event and what attracted them to me, which was to talk about innovation. We also discussed the theme of the event, which was Destination Now, and I delved deeper to understand their objectives, goals, and audience. From this information, I identified sub-themes to build my keynote around, which align with the client’s objectives.
Following this call, I had another conversation with the senior leadership and another pre-event call with eight people, including the CEO. I did extensive research on the company, and I asked them to provide their brand guide and annual report. During the pre-event call, I asked a lot of questions to understand their specific goals and how my keynote could support the CEO’s objectives for the event. I do this level of preparation, but not all speakers do. This is simply what works for me.
About 25% of the clients you work with may suggest changes, such as adding more detail or focusing on specific areas. Sometimes, they may even mention that another speaker will cover a particular topic, which is helpful. In one instance with a client, they provided me with a lot of feedback, which allowed me to make small adjustments to my presentation. However, even after these tweaks, I still felt that I was only about 90% there. The client had the great idea of inviting me to spend time with their team a few days in advance, where I could have conversations with them over drinks and dinners. This helped me to make further adjustments to my presentation based on the phrases and feedback I had heard. I was able to use this feedback to personalize my speech further and be super prepared when I went on stage.
Before writing my presentation, I think about the template or structure that I will use. There are various structures that you can use for a presentation, but it’s important to consider the one that will work best for your intended audience. For instance, in this case, I had a definite sense of the structure I wanted to use. I had 60 minutes, which gave me ample time to achieve my goals. You can watch some of my other videos, where I talk more about templates or the structures of a keynote.
Another thing that I consider is the tone. Since this was a global audience with people from America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, I had to go in with a certain kind of tone that would appeal to all. I tend to go higher on the entertainment value for American audiences, whereas for Eastern European audiences, I tend to focus more on data and evidence. In this case, I opted for a quick, fast-paced tone that would appeal more to North American audiences, while still remaining evidence-based and accessible to non-native English speakers.
Humour is another way that you can engage your audience, and I used it at the start of my keynote to test the audience’s limits. I was agile and improvisational throughout my presentation, which was quite fast-paced. In the end, the tempo or pacing of my speech was a little faster than what I might have done before COVID, as people’s attention spans have shortened.
To summarize, the critical elements that I consider when preparing a keynote speech are the topic, theme, target audience, template, technique, tone, and tempo. Each of these components is essential in creating a successful presentation that engages your audience and meets your goals.
A lot of people have asked me, and they asked me last night, how I prepare, so I wanted to share that a little bit. What I’ll do is, after my performance, I will debrief, probably on the flight back. I will look at the video and watch to see if I can improve certain things. Additionally, the client will receive feedback. I received feedback yesterday, which was dated but it came out really well. However, I also want to get some other types of feedback from them, such as written feedback. Often, I’ll do a case study. If you go to my website, JamesTaylor.me, you’ll find case studies from many of my clients which give feedback on how they experienced working with me. Hopefully, that’s useful. Please leave any comments, and feel free to reach out to me on my website at JamesTaylor.me. My name is James Taylor, keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends. Successful Creative PairsDuring my presentation, I discussed the concept of creative pairs, which is crucial to many innovative organizations. I explained that such companies often consist of complementary individuals who provide feedback and push each other to new heights. Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs, Pierre and Marie Curie, and Tim Cook and Steve Jobs are excellent examples of creative pairs. These companies are combinations of many creative pairs, and they play a significant role in driving innovation.
Importance of having creative peersLSG Group is based in Germany and has an excellent German expression that I love. They refer to someone who they can “steal horses with,” which means finding a person who can comfort and support you on journeys, someone who will be there for you in good times and bad. In creative work, having someone like that in your organization is vital. They provide feedback, make you think more deeply about your ideas, and stress-test them. They typically have a different personality type than you, which is beneficial.
I asked the audience to think about their own creative work and identify their creative peers, the individuals who provide feedback and push them to new heights. In conclusion, having creative peers is critical to achieving success in creative work. Thank you for watching, and my name is James Taylor.

Conclusion James Taylor encourages viewers to create their own garden in their hearts to rebuild their creative confidence.* * He thanks viewers for watching and signs off from Istanbul, Turkey.
Hello, I’m James Taylor, a keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends, and today I’m in Istanbul, Turkey. I would like to talk to you about the concept of creative confidence. First, I would like to express my heartfelt sympathies to the people of this beautiful country who have been through a tough time recently with the earthquakes and the situation in Syria. I truly enjoy coming to Turkey to speak, and the people are lovely. If you can do something to help, such as donating to organizations like Médecins Sans Frontières, please do so.
Recently, I had the chance to speak with Elif Shafak, a successful author of both fiction and non-fiction from Turkey who now resides in London. At an event in Scotland, I asked her a question about creative confidence. When we engage in any type of creative work, we are bound to encounter times when people respond to our work in a way that we don’t necessarily want. Feedback, whether positive or negative, is always valuable. However, sometimes people can be quite aggressive or unkind with their feedback, which can undermine our confidence. So, how do we maintain our confidence and continue to create despite setbacks?
Elif Shafak suggested the idea of having a garden in your heart or mind, a place that is safe from the outside world, where you can retreat with your creative work, experiment, and try new things. This is a place of imagination, a pure space where nothing can touch you. As we grow older, we can lose touch with this sense of wonder, but we need to reclaim it. Having a garden in our hearts where we can retreat to regardless of the outside world is crucial to our creative work.
For me, as a speaker and performer, I encounter different audiences every week, and while most events go well, sometimes they don’t. This can be due to a variety of reasons, including myself or the audience. It can knock my confidence a little. However, I find solace in Elif Shafak’s idea of having a safe place to retreat to, a place of possibility and imagination, where I can experiment and try new things. This way, when the world seems harsh, I can always retreat to my garden.
If you’ve experienced knockbacks in your creative work, I encourage you to create your own garden in your heart. Rebuilding your creative confidence requires a safe place where you can experiment and try new things. My name is James Taylor, and I’m speaking to you from Istanbul, Turkey. Thank you for watching.

The War for Talent and Digital Nomads The war for talent and the rise of digital nomads in Portugal and other countries. * What digital nomads are and how they contribute to the economy. * The competition between countries to attract digital nomads* and why it’s crucial for their economic growth.
The Generational Shift in Language The generational shift from baby boomers to Gen X and millennials and how it impacts the language used by younger generations. * Why younger generations prefer the term creativity over innovation and what it means for companies and countries trying to attract talent. * How language can be a barrier for countries trying to attract digital nomads* and why they need to adapt to the language used by younger generations.
The Importance of Using the Right Language to Attract Talent* Why it’s crucial for companies and countries to use the right language to attract talent. * The importance of using the word creativity to attract younger talent, even if they mean innovation. * Examples of countries and companies that have successfully adapted their language to attract talent.
Good morning, I’m James Taylor, a keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends. Today, I’m in beautiful Cascais, just outside Lisbon, Portugal, for an event where I’ll be speaking and meeting up with some speaking buddies. During my visit, I noticed a lot of companies engaging in a war for talent. Most of the companies I work with are multinational, working hard to attract the best talent, which usually comprises younger people entering the workforce.
Interestingly, as I travel around Portugal, I have noticed that many digital nomads are settling in towns around Lisbon. Cities across Europe and countries are competing to attract digital nomads because they bring good jobs. These aren’t just backpackers; they are high-earning professionals who can work remotely from their laptops. Countries such as Portugal and Spain have digital nomad visas to attract this talent, and Croatia and many other countries are competing to attract digital nomads.
However, many of these countries are missing out on attracting this talent because of their use of language. There has been a generational shift from baby boomers to Gen X and now to millennials and Gen Zs. These younger generations want to work for companies that foster creativity and to live in places where they can live their most creative lives. This is different from what the baby boomers wanted.
Even in organizations, I can see this change in language. In younger organizations, they use the word creativity more than innovation. Creativity is about generating new ideas, while innovation is about bringing new ideas to the world. However, without creativity, innovation cannot happen. Many younger companies and countries looking to attract this talent use the word creativity to attract younger talent, even if they mean innovation.
I believe that countries should continue to talk about why they are the most creative place to work, raise a family, and enjoy a high quality of life when they’re looking to attract talent. This is especially important if they want to attract the brightest young minds to their shores. My name is James Taylor, and I’m a keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, artificial intelligence, and future trends here in Cascais, Portugal. Thank you for watching.

Segment 1: NFTs and Phygital Retail
Segment 2: The Metaverse and the Future of Events
Segment 3: ftNFT Store
Hey, it’s James Taylor keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends today I am in Dubai, that city of the future. It’s always great coming here because you get a glimpse of the future. Things that happen here happen in other cities six months to a year later. I often come here to get ideas and see the new trends. For example, they even have a museum called the Museum of the Future.
I’ve been giving a keynote for Kempinski Hotels, Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group with around 80 locations worldwide. I’ve spoken at conferences in Bangkok and Jordan and love staying at Kempinski hotels. The senior leadership at the Kempinski Mall of the Emirates in Dubai asked me to talk about the future, innovation, creativity, and what the Metaverse could mean for their industry.
While I’ve been here, I took the opportunity to check out ftNFT, the world’s first physical store selling NFTs (non-fungible tokens). If you don’t know what NFTs are, check out my website, JamesTaylor.me, for keynotes on that topic. It’s interesting because NFTs are usually considered digital assets, but now there are physical stores selling them. Phygital retail is starting to happen.
Next week, I’m flying to Milan to speak about NFTs and their impact on the automotive and tire engineering industries. The event will be filmed in a green screen room with a full studio crew and produced in the Metaverse, so I’ll be speaking to a pre-recorded version of myself.
If you’re not already subscribed to my videos, make sure to do so on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or my website JamesTaylor.me to get the latest updates. I’ll be showing you a bit about Dubai and the ftNFT store, so make sure to check it out next time you’re in Dubai, and maybe even buy an NFT. Take care!

Using the Random Words Technique to Overcome Creative Block
Hey there, James Taylor here keynote speaker on creativity, innovation and future trends speaking to you from Frankfurt, Germany.

FULL TRANSCRIPT
How to break out of creative blocksI was just giving a keynote a few hours ago on the topic of innovation, and how to break out of creative blocks sometimes because we all experienced them at different points. And one of the techniques I was telling them about was about a Romanian-born German poet called Herta Muller, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature. And she had a technique called random words. And the random words technique is a really good one to get stuck sometimes can creatively, what she used to do as she used to have pieces from newspapers, that she used to cut out random words. And if she was getting stuck on a line of a poem or something, what she would do is she would take out one of those words from a draw and use that and kind of use that to spark like just going to take her own different way. Other people have used it, like David Byrne has used the exact same technique.
Random wordSo this is how we use it in business. Sometimes, if you’re approaching a problem, and you’ve been at it, for a while thinking about you can’t quite get out of it. Just find some random word dictionary, open it a random, you can go to random word generator.com is another way of doing it. And then use that word to maybe think about the problem from a different perspective. So for example, if you’re working on a marketing plan, and you’re really stuck on this marketing plan, and the random word is River, okay, well, what if we approach this like a river so that we can have goals around things rather than trying to crush things? Like how does that kind of where does that go from there that may spark kind of further ideas? So it’s called random words really great technique if you just want to break out of any kind of creative blocks. If you want to learn other creativity techniques like that, just go to Jamestaylor.me. Lots more there as well. So from here in Frankfurt, Germany, my name is James Taylor. Thanks for watching.

Role of Physical Space in Shaping Creativity and InnovationSo I’m here, actually, just in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, it’s a little bit cold a little bit chilly but don’t know how long I’m going to be out here for truth be told. But just before I came out here, I was walking in some of the state rooms in the palace itself. And one room I came to was one of the formal dining rooms. And in that very same room, Mozart wants to perform for the king. And by the queen, he actually was invited to perform on behind by the Queen, and the Queen and Mozart spoke German. And then she translated for the king as well. But as I’m walking around, in that room, in that spacing, wow, Mozart wants created music in this space. I was also thinking about how the space, the place in which we create affects the very thing that we create.
There’s a wonderful TED Talk by David Byrne, the musician who talks about how the music set was saying very differently if it was created in different kinds of places. So for example, the reason that jazz sounds like jazz is because it’s been intended to be performed in certain shapes of rooms. The reason that choral music has this long kind of notes is that it’s intended for rooms that have a certain kind of acoustic to them. The reason that rock’n’roll sounds good at mid-tempos is that it’s intended for these large stadiums where mid-tempo really works very well. So the room that I was just in the stateroom, the dining room look kind of long, rectangular room, high ceilings, acoustically not great, it’s a bit of a box, essentially. But someone like Mozart would have known this, he would have taken this into consideration when he was composing. And performing in these rooms, he would shape his creativity into the space. So if you want to kind of break out of, maybe you’re stuck in a rut at the moment creatively, you can just feel like you’re doing the same stuff over and over again because it happens to everyone, one of the simplest things you can do is just to change up the space in which you’re creating. That could mean maybe going if you’re working at your desk all day, maybe go and working from a coffee shop or a gallery, or maybe it’s you know, if you’ve got a beach or forest, or just doing something different changes space because the space in which you create has a profound effect on what you create.
So if you’re looking for a speaker, I’m here in Paris and Versailles. Today, maybe you’re doing an event in Paris and you’re looking for a great keynote speaker, please check out Jamestaylor.me. Maybe like my client today was who’s an energy industry. You’re also in the energy industry, maybe oil and gas or new forms of energy, solar, wave wind, hydro, you know, all the different can new energy that’s coming in just now. If you’re looking for a speaker to inspire your people around creativity and innovation, some of the future trends there, then check out Jamestaylor.me and reach out to my team we’d love to speak if your organization thanks for watching.

Chatbots and Generative AII’m here because I’m talking to a company called Puratos. I’m here keynoting at their internal marketing event at a really nice venue they’ve chosen very near their offices called Fosbury and Sons, a kind of co-working space. So it was quite nice for the team to kind of get them out of the traditional place that they work. Changing your environment can do lots of cool things. Now, this particular company, is very, very innovative in terms of the producers of the ingredients that go into making baked baked products. patisserie chocolate products as well. Very, very innovative company. But one of the cool things I’m finding in this particular event, just speaking to everyone here, and one of the reasons I’ve been brought in really to talk about innovation as it relates to things like sustainability, future trends, is how important for this company is to know both consumer and customer trends, what’s changing in the market, and they do a big study every year, we’re looking at different changing tastes, the tastes that people have, you know, the taste is very local. What works in one country might not actually work in another country as well. But one of the fun things I’m going to be doing while I’m here is
I’m going to be showing them the power of ChatGPT, which is started by a company called OpenAI. And it’s basically a really fancy chatbot, but much, much more beyond that. So I’m actually going to demonstrate in the room exactly how it works and how marketers can use chatbots like chat GPT, I’ll also be showing them different types of generative AI tools like Midjourney, which is a really great way to get ideas out of your head and into some form, it creates amazing images that you can use then either give to a designer or it can actually create entirely new kind of photographs of people that don’t even exist. It’s a very, very cool tool for marketers and any type of creative professional. Now, something I know I’m gonna get a question here. Now this event is a room of like, 65 marketers, they’re gonna see do I have to be worried about these technologies, things like generative AI ChatGPT, that midjourney, for example, lots of machine learning tools are coming on board. And I say if you do work, which is really creative, you’re always kind of pushing yourself, you’re always staying curious and always trying new things. I don’t think you do have to be worried. I think this is going to provide you with a powerful new tool at your fingertips. But the rules of the game are changing. And for many people who just kind of get by just putting out a general type of stuff. You know that we’re leaving the information age, we’re going into this brand new age just now. And it’s a very exciting time. Chatbots and Generative AI Tools for Marketing

Exploring the Creator Economy: Insights from Keynote Speaker in Jeddah James Taylor
Hey, there’s James Taylor Yeah, keynote speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends. Today I’m joining you from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

Creator EconomyAnd I’m here actually at the Shangri-La hotel in Jeddah. This is the first of the Shangri La hotels here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It’s a beautiful hotel. And this is a really beautiful city great view out here onto the Red Sea, which is jet as famous as this nice port area, and lots of beautiful beaches here as well.
Now, the reason I’ve been brought in is to speak at an event around this concept of the creator economy. And what this means for businesses what it means for governments means individuals. Because if you haven’t noticed, there’s been a big trend going on over the past 10 years. And that is this rise of what we now termed as the creator economy, this democratization of anyone being able to create and upload, and promote and market their content. Now that content may take different forms. It started probably about 10 years ago, we saw the rise of new platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and suddenly, anyone was able to create and very quickly put out and distribute their content. And this really kind of accelerated with things like TikTok, for example. And now all over the world, you have these people, individuals who have built incredible businesses, around being creators, creatives, all different types of things, different types of content on all different types of topics. But one of the things I think that has allowed this to happen, this creator economy is the tools that we actually have. You know, it’s only two relatively recently that some of the devices have moved from what I call more consumption type of tools, to make to what we call kind of create a type of tools because this is one of the key things about creativity, it often requires us to have tools, tools to get those ideas out of our head and into some physical or some type of form as well. So early versions of everything, but the iPod, when that first came out, was really a consumption type of device. It wasn’t really about creating as such, but many devices that we have now the devices in our pockets, the thing I’m filming on just now are really intended for anyone to be able to create really high broadcast quality content. Now, this does a couple of interesting things. Exploring the Creator Economy
Creator CommunitiesFirst of all, it means anyone can really be a global superstar, depending on what their topic is, it says very much democratized content and content creation. But the other thing that is done as well, is it’s allowed lots of communities to start to develop around creators. See, this is the cool thing about creativity. Creativity is collaborative creativity is a team sport. And when whenever you see creative start to pop up. Usually, it’s around different communities. So for example, in nearby Dubai here, you have lots of influencers, social media influences coming up, they’re really kind of building a community of lots of influences, kind of supporting, pushing each other forward driving each other on to new things. This is not unsimilar, similar to the 1920s when we had the roaring 1920s. In places like Paris and Cairo, Shanghai, where creators there, were maybe creating books like The Hemingway and F Scott Fitzgerald were pushing each other to go to high levels with their creative output. And here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, you’re also going to have those lots of those communities are starting to, to really develop and crop up now it’s gonna take different forms in different places. The kind of creative output that people in Mumbai are putting out is often quite different from the kind of content that see teams or creators in New York or London or Paris, Jeddah, Riyadh, or all over the world are going to create. So this is what they do to think about today. And the kind of creative work you do, regardless of what creative work is, there’s no such thing as lone genius. Who are those communities that you go to for support encouragement mentoring, that are able to push you forward to new higher, and greater levels? So here speaking from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, my name is James Taylor. Thanks so much for watching. Exploring the Creator Economy

Blocked in your creativityThis is a beautiful part of Portugal. And here I’m at a place called Pura Vida, which is an ecological retreat center resort, they do a lot of yoga retreats here, and surfing retreats because we’re very close to great surfing places and an animal sanctuary, as well. And one of the reasons that I kind of came here is, I speak, you know, every week about creativity, I film videos like this, about creativity, about innovation, about thinking about the future. But it’s really important for me, as a thought leader in this space to also take time out for myself. And to kind of reset a little bit and think a little bit differently. And one of the things that I found, and it’s different ways that you can if you’re feeling blocked in your creativity in one way or the other, or you’re just looking to get new perspectives, one of the easiest things you can do is just change the physical place in which you’re in. Now, that doesn’t mean having to get in a plane and fly 1000s of miles away, it can sometimes just mean walking a different route to work, for example, or just going to maybe a different beach or a different forest near you’re going to go into a museum and sitting there with a cup of tea cup of coffee and just sitting kind of looking around you and observing the world.
How to Overcome Creative BlocksBut one of the quickest ways you can kind of get yourself out of any type of creative rut or kind of have your creative blocks is just to change the physical environment that you’re in. Here for me, also helps me bring back to myself when being in nature in this beautiful location as well. I get to kind of defocus I’ve spoken about this in previous videos my video and Stockholm I filmed recently, this idea that sometimes you have to do very focused work we really focusing on what we’re doing and building out that initiative that project that that new thing that we’ve created, but sometimes we need to defocus and for me, changing environment, especially getting out in more rural environments like this allows me to kind of defocus and approach problems with a new light. So try that for yourself and let me know in the comments. How do you where do you like to go in order to kind of change your physical environment if you’re wanting to open up yourself to new ways of thinking? My name is James Taylor. Thanks for watching.

From Me to WeI’m here to them this beautiful beach. And it just reminds me actually reminds me a few many years ago, when I was more of a professional musician before I became a keynote speaker. And sometimes I get the opportunity to work with great orchestras. And I’d be sitting in the middle of this great orchestra as a performer. And I’ll be playing at the Royal Albert Hall, for example, in London. And when you hear an orchestra perform, and you’re in the middle on that stage, is a totally different feeling from when you’re actually watching the audience watching the artist or the orchestra from this audience perspective. You feel the power, you’re in the middle of this power. And you suddenly at that point, you feel this, this, all these 40 or 45 Different people are moving together by moving like a wave together. And as I’m standing here, just now surrounded by nature, by the waves, and the wind and the beautiful mountains here as well. I’m feeling enveloped by nature. And when you work with great teams, I think you find that you find that same sense. There’s that culture, there’s that spirit that kind of goes throughout all the members of the orchestra. And it changes from being just 45 separate individuals to one thing to remove them from, from me too weak. And as a leader one of the most important things you can possibly do is to instill that sense of I was talking to a client earlier today in the energy industry and that was one of their challenges. How do they get their people moving from me to we have a great way of thinking about it just come out in nature maybe next time you do a team event bring Matt to a beautiful area like this great surfing together as a team, and do one of your kind of retreats, corporate retreats out in nature because something interesting happens when these beautiful, amazing places. Business and Leisure TripsNow, I want to talk about a bit of a trend that I’m seeing amongst conferences, events, and meetings. And that trend has a horrible term, and it’s called Bleasure Is this blending of business and leisure trips, because what I’m seeing is the cities like here in Lisbon are gonna really do very well from this trend.
So what’s happening is people are going traveling, perhaps to a different country or city to attend a conference or meeting. And using that time to also extend for a few more days and go on a little trip gonna have a bit of a vacation, sometimes I’ll bring the family with them as well. Now, I think this is happening for a number of reasons. One is the kind of sustainability side people have being much more intentional in how they travel and when and how often they travel. So if you have to can combine a business trip and a vacation, that’s a good thing, it cuts down on the number of maybe two flights that you have to do. The other reason I’m seeing this is a little bit more as well as we have to go through all this rigmarole. Now when we travel, all the different kinds of vaccine stuff that you have to have maybe different documentation that you have to have now, it’s not quite as fun as it perhaps once was. So if you can just reduce that and do one trip instead of two trips, all the better. So here’s why I think Lisbon and cities like this are going to do so well in this kind of post-pandemic world as companies and organizations start bringing their people back together and stop doing even bigger live conferences and in-person events. Because cities like Lisbon combine the ability to do great events. I’m here at the epic Sana, which has a wonderful conference space here. But you have lots of great conference venues, unusual conference venues as well can go out and do things on ships and all kinds of stuff here. But at the same time, it’s a very walkable place. So it’s easy for your people to kind of get around to move around, it’s a nice place, if even if they don’t want to go out into the countryside, then they can enter the other areas of Portugal, they can just have a great week here. And it’s so much to explore here. And it’s very easy to move about. How To Plan A Conference Event
Bleasure TrendSo whether you’re doing a 25-person conference, or 250-person conference, or 2500-person conference, you just had Web Summit, a huge conference here, then Lisbon’s a great place to do that. Another city I think will benefit from this Bleasure trend is Barcelona, which was already doing very well before the pandemic, and it’s just kind of restarting now, in Rome, I’m doing a lot of events just now in Rome, I think that’s a great city for that as well. Berlin, and Paris, obviously like this. And always I think London will take a little bit longer to come back because of some of the issues around there. And that’s just in Europe. And I think a lot of American clients of mine are doing more of the events in Europe because they can benefit from the strong dollar as well. So if you are planning a conference, an event, or a meeting, we bring your senior people back together, bring your team back together in person, and you are looking for an inspiring keynote speaker, then check out Jamestaylor.me. And you can find all my different case studies and industries. And even if you’re not looking for a speaker on creativity, innovation, and future trends, just use the contact form there. Just tell my team what you’re looking for. Maybe there’s another speaker I see so many great speakers, maybe we can suggest another speaker to you as well. So he up from beautiful Lisbon in Portugal. My name is James Taylor. Thanks for watching.
