This podcast contains the teachings from the weekly worship gatherings of Redemption Church in Costa Mesa, CA.
Today is Formation Sunday! Mike will be teaching from Matthew 6:25-34. We will continue to engage this quarter’s formation practice of Prayer. This month we’ll specifically be practicing prayers of gratitude.
Our Exploration speaker this Sunday is Rob Fischer, a long time friend of Redemption. He is a spiritual director, leadership coach, licensed MFT, and founder of Inflection Point. We will be exploring Jesus' invitation to not worry in Matthew 6 25-34.
This Sunday is For Our Communities Sunday! As we celebrate what God is doing in the communities we are committed to, Mike will be leading us through Matthew 6 19-24 and inviting us to consider where our treasure truly lies.
This Sunday is Formation Sunday! Our new series of teachings is called “Finding Kingdom Treasure” and Christine will be teaching from Matthew 6:1-18. We’ll be taking some time to introduce this quarter’s formation practice of prayer. This month we’ll specifically be practicing prayers of intercession.

On For Our Communities Sunday, Rachel Laidlaw led us through a Lovingkindness Blessing by Irene Kraegel from the book A Mindfuld Moment. We have recorded the blessing for you to use as a prayer practice as you pray for the people in your life.
Today is For Our Communities Sunday! As we go into Matthew 6, the second of three Sermon on the Mount chapters, we’re turning our hearts to Finding Kingdom Treasure. Christine will be teaching on Matthew 6:1-4 and inviting us to consider the rhythms of the way of Jesus as we serve and give. We’ll also hear more about a community we’re committed to: neighbors who are unhoused.
This Sunday is Formation Sunday! Mike teaches from Matthew 5:38-42 as we will wrap up the first chapter (out of three) of the Sermon on the Mount. We’ll hear Jesus’s invitation to be people who step into creative non-violence in the place of evil and how Jesus’s “You’ve Heard It Said” teaching leads us deeper into the way of his Kingdom.
It's Exploration Sunday! We are excited to welcome back Erin and Kendall Dooley from BLKSouth, a ministry in North Carolina deeply committed to the health of their community. We will have a chance to hear stories of what it looks like to be committed over time, letting our 'yes' be 'yes' in the places we are planted.

Today is Formation Sunday! Christine will continue teaching from the Sermon on the Mount and will dive into Matthew 5:21-32. As we consider more of these “You Have Heard It Said” teachings of Jesus, we’ll be invited to draw near to Jesus once more to hear his invitations into deeper formation with him.
We are excited to welcome Andrew DeCort as our exploration guest as we continue in our conversation on the Sermon on the Mount and our overall theme for the year, Draw Near, a year of radical presence. We know this will be a timely conversation for us as we continue to explore what it looks like to live in the Kingdom of God.
Today Christine teaches about caring for our communities through Matthew 5:21-26. Our goal is to be equipped to live into our identity as Christ followers in our homes, neighborhoods, and workplaces and to mobilize to collectively care for the housing insecure, at-risk youth, and immigrant neighbors.
It’s Formation Sunday and Mike will be continuing to teach through Matthew 5:17-20. As we head into the next part of Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount, we’ll notice the phrase, “you have heard it said” and see how Jesus continues to challenge us to shift our understanding of scripture and the perspectives we hold. We’re excited to unpack the things we’ve heard said and invite Holy Spirit to continue to work in us!
The day we’ve been anticipating, Easter! This is also Exploration Sunday and today Mike will be exploring Matthew 5:13-16. Join us for the culmination of the Lenten season with a celebration of the resurrection.
This week is our For Our Communities Sunday! Mike will be teaching as we contextualize our study of the beatitudes and peacemaking into the communities we work to see flourish.
This weekend is Formation Sunday and Christine will be teaching on the next verses in the Beatitudes as we keep exploring our theme, Draw Near: A Year of Radical Presence. Matthew 5:9-12. Last weekend, DeSean Dyson left us reflecting on how to draw near as peacemakers in the Way of Jesus. We’re excited to continue to dig in and consider who this Beatitude is inviting us to be as we are present with Jesus.

Matthew 5:5-6 – "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." We will also continue to practice Silence, Solitude, and Stillness as our quarterly formation practice - this month by an invitation to create space away from our phones.

This morning is Exploration Sunday and we are excited to welcome our first guests of the year, Mili and Beto Gudino, to speak into our theme, Draw Near: A Year of Radical Presence as we walk through Matthew 5-7.
This morning is Formation Sunday and we will continue introducing our new theme, Draw Near: A Year of Radical Presence! This year we are looking forward to spending our time in Matthew 5-7 and the Sermon on the Mount, finding ourselves sitting together at the feet of Jesus.
Part of our exploration this year will include extended time with each of our formation practices! For this first quarter, we will be focusing in on Silence, Solitude, and Stillness. Christine will introduce our first formation practice and begin preaching on the Beatitudes this Sunday – “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
This Sunday our elders will be introducing our 2026 theme, Draw Near: a Year of Radical Presence.
It’s Formation Sunday and the third Sunday of Advent! This year we have been exploring Jubilee as a Year of Radical Release, and have looked to the parables to see what the Kingdom of God is like. In December, we are celebrating that the Kingdom of God is Here with the birth of Christ, God with Us. This morning, Christine will be leading us in our last practice of release of the year: Releasing Repentance. As we have spent time in the Jubilee themes of freedom, rest, and generosity, how do we need to realign ourselves to the reality of the Kingdom’s presence?

This year we have been exploring Jubilee as a Year of Radical Release, and have looked to the parables to see what the Kingdom of God is like. This December, we are celebrating that the Kingdom of God is Here with the birth of Christ, God with Us. This weekend we are looking forward to welcoming our two exploration guests, Erica Shepler Romero and Dr. Robert Chao Romero!
This fall, Redemption celebrates our 14th Birthday as a church. As we continue in our Year of Jubilee, we will take this Exploration Sunday to reflect and celebrate how we have seen the Kingdom of God break in throughout our history. The elders will be sharing the story of how we started as a church and where we see God at work as we look ahead. Whether you are brand new to Redemption or have been with us for most of our history, we are grateful to be together in this season of our church family!

Today is Formation Sunday and we are looking forward to hearing from Christine as she preaches on the Kingdom of God is Like a Mustard Seed. As our Formation Practice we will be doing another practice of opening our hands in release – this month through Releasing Comfort.

This week is Exploration Sunday, and Gabrielle Clowdus will be our Exploration guest! Gabrielle Clowdus founded Settled, a movement of believers radically committed to life with the poor. Settled was birthed out of Gabrielle’s doctoral research on chronic homelessness and affordable housing, where she discovered the critical response is enduring relationships. Settled exists to guide the local church to cultivate home in a homeless world by planting intentional and permanent tiny home communities on their land.

This morning is Formation Sunday, and Christine will be teaching on The Kingdom of God is Like the Ten Bridesmaids from Matthew 25. Last weekend, Christine shared that she had a message burning in her from sabbatical – and this is it!

This Exploration Sunday we are taking time to look back on the summer and the Jubilee practices of rest, sabbath, provision, and justice; to ground ourselves as we enter into the fall. We are excited to have Moses and Christine Nolf as our exploration speakers as they reflect on the fullness of Jubilee through their sabbatical experience and our experience walking out being the people of God in Costa Mesa this summer.

This morning, we are very excited to welcome our very own, Jessica Rollison, to teach on The Kingdom of God is Like a Net. This month our formation practice will be Releasing Self-Reliance.

On this Formation Sunday, Mike teaches on Jesus crossing the Sea of Galilee to free a demon possessed man. We also introduced our formation practice, Releasing Peace, through prayer, a personal peace evaluation, and with writing letters to our representatives calling for peace.
On this Formation Sunday, Christine leads us in teaching on the generous worship of Mary as she offers Jesus an anointing with perfume. We continue with a formation practice of giving and receiving – offering what we have, and asking for what we need.
This year our theme is Jubilee: the Year of Radical Release. We've been exploring the Economics of Jesus and this March we are practicing Releasing Control as our Formation Practice. We are doing this through Sabbath. Listen in as Mike teaches on Zacchaeus and we step into our new formation practice.
As we continue to explore Jubilee and the Economics of Jesus, we are honored to welcome Erin and Kendall Dooley, co-founders of BLK South, as our Exploration Guests this morning. The Dooleys will share their story of choosing to return to the land and how this practice of Jubilee has set them on an adventure with Jesus in liberation and joy.

Mike teaches today and closes out our study of Colossians with chapter 4! The Advent season is all about waiting in expectation for the coming Christ – and this month we will be unpacking that more with our formation practice!
This weekend we continue in our exploration of Abundant Community, but focused in on the Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love in their lives. A panel from our community will be leading the exploration.
Last weekend, we began exploring Christ in All with Lisa Rodriguez-Watson and now we will be stepping further into the Colossians 3 with Christine. This month for our formation practice, we will be practicing Imagination. The past few months we've been walking through our values as a community as our formation practices: Committed, Generous, Imaginative.
We have been exploring Abundant Community through the lens of Colossians, and today we are stepping into Colossians 3. We are looking forward to welcoming a guest, Lisa Rodriguez-Watson, to lead our exploration this month!
Mike will be leading us today out of Colossians 2. Our formation practice this month is Generosity, and some of our elders will be leading us into that practice!

In September we began our look into Colossians, and we are moving into Colossians 2 today! Our Exploration Guests are right from our own family, Christine and Kellyn! They will be guiding us in this central theme of Colossians 2: We are free.

Today is Exploration Sunday! We're looking forward to stepping into Psalm 24 in our next month of The Abundant Life! We have been highly anticipating this Exploration Sunday as we we welcome our next exploration guest – Meredith Miller. Meredith Miller is a pastor, parent, and writer who helps grownups, and the kids they love, engage with the Bible and faith in ways that are life-giving, fun, and a fit for their real lives.
This week is Formation Sunday and Christine continues to give us snapshots of the Abundant Life. Our formation practice this month is contentment through stillness – using breath prayer and another Anti-Psalm.
These past few months we have been preparing for the abundant life. We have evaluated what we need to unlearn and leave behind and practiced receiving the abundance and love of God. This month, we are taking the next step in unpacking what the Abundant Life is, and we'll be focusing in Psalm 23.

On this Easter Sunday we landed with Job, declaring "I know my redeemer lives." Together we practiced confession of faith.
This month we are taking a look at Job. Christine is leading our morning – The book of Job is a great gift to us since every path to wisdom includes a dark night of the soul. What can we hang on to when life doesn't make sense, when suffering seems unjust and unwarranted? How do we become friends who can accompany others in those times? Job gives us permission to groan before the Lord in all our raw pain and confusion.
Jeff teaches on what Genesis tells us about the wisdom and order found in God's creation, our role in co-creating with God, and how eating from the tree of knowledge got in the way and continues to get in the way of us fulfilling that role. Aaron leads our formation practice: silencing the noise.
This morning we are lead by a panel of Redemption women in an exploration of Wisdom in Creation and the book of Genesis.
