'Dash Gordon' became a League City celebrity with his joyful DoorDash deliveries. Now he's opening a charity.
Timothy Glover oversees his own nonprofit foundation. The Dash Gordon Foundation is the capstone of his mission: spreading cheer and goodwill among the citizens of League City.
Or rather the career capstone of his "superhero" alter ego, Dash Gordon.
Glover, a father of eight, has been working in the car industry for about 30 years. In an unfortunate turn of events last year, his wife had a health scare. In need of extra money, he signed on with food delivery service DoorDash. But months after doing so, he became frustrated — no one opened their front doors to receive deliveries.
"I needed to create an experience. So I created a persona: Dash Gordon," said Glover, 57, of his spin on the character Flash Gordon. "People got a kick out of it and they started thanking me."
At the end of April 2022, he convinced his wife to buy a Flash costume. On his first night out in costume, he created quite a commotion: "Restaurant managers were like, 'You gotta go.' All the talk on League City social media was like, there’s this guy dressed in a Flash costume..."

More about RP-1, Texas founder, Jeremy Robinson
I’m a veteran of both Afghanistan and Iraq. I was both a Cav Scout and an Infantryman. Nowadays, I’m a husband, a father, and I suppose a lot of people just call me a cowboy. But in the 13 years between leaving the military and becoming a father, I experienced much of what many of our peers have been facing since separation.
We all know at least one veteran who has failed to thrive in the civilian world.
We've all seen the rising suicide rates, with many of us losing close friends along the way.
And if it's not that, it's guys living as dangerously as they can until they leave the world on their own terms. Funerals for so many friends along the way. And it's a wonder many of us are still here.
I bore witness to veterans making it big, achieving huge successes in their fields, while others couldn't figure out which way to turn on a circular track.
And I've watched, along with everyone else, as the charts that document our homelessness rates pop up and down like an EKG for long enough. It's time for us to start looking out for one another.

Dominique Cousin Short Personal Biography:
I'm a small business owner with my husband, In House Chefs, and I have 2 children (11 & 7). I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis where I lost majority of my bodily functions within a matter of months. I found myself in a wheelchair, or bedridden most days.
I demonstrated 30 out of 31 symptoms and was in bad shape; mentally, spiritually, and definitely physically. This turned my life upside down but through my husband, friends and my community with their connections, I was able to reverse my symptoms. By drastically changing my diet and lifestyle I am able to live a normal life, playing with my kids and doing normal life things again.

More About MJ
As a Texan, wife, mother, and successful entrepreneur, MJ has a big heart for her family and community. After almost 20 years in marketing, project management, and entrepreneurship, MJ channeled her wide breadth of industry experience and shared her passion for helping women. When MJ lost her twin daughter, Desiree, at birth, the reality of not having the proper support from family, friends, and the community around her was devastating. She not only lacked guidance when being released from the hospital, but she did not know how much she truly needed mental, spiritual, and physical healing. This traumatic event prompted her to start Little Angel Network later. She is passionate about helping women during one of the darkest times of their life, and she vows to be the light and support to women worldwide.
We provide grief care packages to hospitals and birthing centers to provide to families who have lost a child during pregnancy or birth. Our aim is to bridge the gap with after-hospital care for women and families to receive professional counseling, spiritual support, and physical and nutrition guidance.

About Dave
I was raised in Sacramento, California, then attended UCLA (BA degree in 1992), and Fuller Theological Seminary (MA degree in 1997). Upon completing grad school in 1997 I took a position with a faith-based non-profit organization, Servant Partners, which focuses on community building and poverty alleviation both in the USA and internationally. I worked for Servant Partners for 22 years, until 2019. For seven of those years, I lived and worked internationally in India and in Bangladesh.
In 2019 I transitioned to Speak Up for the Poor (which is also a non-profit organization but is not a religious or faith-based org). For the past four years I have served as Director of Development with Speak Up. I help to raise awareness of and funds for Speak Up's Girls Education Program in Bangladesh, which helps girls from impoverished backgrounds who are vulnerable to child marriage (and in some cases child trafficking) to stay in school through college graduation.
I have been married for 19 years to my wife Mini (20th anniversary coming up this April!), and we have two daughters, Lily (age 16) and Emily (age 14). We have lived in Long Beach, CA for the past 16 years.
About Speak Up
In Speak Up we have a sponsorship model which allows anyone who wishes to get involved and partner with us in educating and empowering vulnerable girls. The average cost for a girl or young woman to participate in the GEP is $40 per month. (This covers school fees, school uniform, books and materials, daily after school tutoring and mentoring from our staff, and monthly grade-level trainings on life skills and professional skills. For young women in college, there is also an opportunity to live in our college dormitory, which provides room and board in the city, in close proximity to local colleges and nursing schools, while young women in the GEP pursue their higher education.) Those who wish to partner with us can either contribute any amount toward our overall work, or they can sign up to sponsor a specific girl in the GEP for $40 per month. Sponsors receive specific information and updates about the girl they are sponsoring (her name, photos of her, her grade in school, birthdate, her "dream" of what she would like to become through her education, etc.). Sponsors also receive letters from their sponsored girl, and can write letters and send photos back to her, to build a personal connection.
Those interested in contributing or sponsoring can do so on our website at

The Veterans Ranch
Our mission is to assist Veterans and their families through Equine Therapy, a range of treatments that involve activities with horses to promote human physical and mental health. We assist these great Americans and their families in laying down heavy coats of burden and walk away as newer and improved versions of themselves.
J.R. Smith VP and COO of The Veterans Ranch
J.R. has always had a love for horses and Veterans. His Father, Uncle, Grandfather, are all Veterans. J.R. also had a lot of friend that went to the first Gulf War right out of high school in 1991. So, he has a strong appreciation for the sacrifices that are made to protect our freedoms. This is why The Veterans Ranch was founded in 2017 so Veterans and their families can get the assistance that they need, and lay down that heavy coat of burden and walk forward as a new and improved version of themselves. J.R. calls horses God’s majestic animal. They can feel a gnat land on their back, so they know everything about you from two feet away. They are just amazing.

**Elisa "fell" into insurance after a quick stint in banking. Spending most of her time on the carrier side with both regional and national carriers, she was an underwriter for commercial lines and a marketing rep for the Chicagoland area.
When she had the opportunity to specialize in Work Comp she designed and implemented a countrywide training program (a personal highlight). Throughout her insurance career, she was able to be a sales leader, a trainer, and an advocate for giving campaigns within her companies.
She earned six designations and an MBA all while working and has an insatiable appetite to learn and grow. After a brief visit to the agency side, her exit propelled her to co-found a community that pushes everyone forward and welcomes everyone in: Insure Equality.**
**Insure Equality (IE) is a love letter back to the insurance industry from people that care about insurance and all it affects. Elisa works diligently to craft the vision and output for IE by creating community and working towards accountability.
IE's focus is to bring people together to make insurance a more welcoming place. Our mission is to uplift the voices in our industry that are typically excluded or minimized.**
Whether it's hosting panels around tough topics, or ensuring differing voices are brought to the table. Our goal is always to bring people together in the process.
We also created and launched a tech platform that helps employees weigh in on how their culture feels! A must have for an industry that is at the intersection of increasing merger and acquisition activity as well as a dip in retention and hiring.

More about Teen Inc.
• Founded Teen Inc in 2013
• Teen Inc.’s mission is to: “To provide social, educational, and development services to urban and at-risk teens”.
• Teen Inc.’s motto is “Touching Tomorrow Today”
Delinquent and at-risk youth find themselves continuously immersed among negative conditions, creative programs are needed to counter the steady flow of undesirable circumstances. Youth mentoring programs are found to be effective when working with delinquent and at-risk youth when compassionate and responsible adult mentors lend support and guidance to promote personal and social responsibility.
Teen Inc Mentorship Intervention Program is designed to provide supportive services and encourage at-risk and delinquent youth to participate in one-on-one mentor/mentee relationship that includes social-skills workshops and specialized events to endorse goal setting, positive decision-making, and academic success.
The Club Success program provides workshops, classes, and services that will expose youth to the opportunities available in the current job market, prepare them for employment, while focusing them on career development.
Family Unification provides Positive Parenting Programs. These evidence-based services offer a suite of sessions, each catering to different levels of need or dysfunction. Providing support, resources, and tools for youth and families can reduce cost associated with conduct disorder, child abuse and out-of-home placements. Family Unification Improves the relationship between youth and parents/guardians.

About Connie Miller
I was called by God into full time ministry in 2010 when I met my husband who was a full time Pastor in East Saint Louis, Illinois. Ten months after we were married the Lord moved us to Bacliff, Texas where we would Pastor for 9 years.
During this time, the Lord was grounding me in HIs love and that I was secure in my salvation. I spent twenty years of my born-again life doubting my eternal security. When I met my husband, I was in the midst of a pain pill addiction and yet God was promoting me to a position of influence. This promotion would be the catalyst that God would use to bring a much better understanding of HIs amazing love, His Word, and my identity in Christ. I finally could see that it was not about what I had done but what Christ had done for me.
In the nine years of doing ministry with my husband, I discovered the gifts and talents He put within me. A passion grew in me to teach His Word and share what I had been through in my tormenting years of doubt so others could be set free. I wrote two books during this time, Two Hearts Collide and Downloads from the Heart of Daddy God.
In the spring of 2019 New Heart Living was birthed. New Heart Living would be all about teaching, equipping, and inspiring the Body of Christ through focusing on the new: New Creation, New Life, New Heart, New Identity. These are all the things that the life of Christ gives us when we simply believe in the finished work of the cross.
Little did I know that just a few months later God was going to give us a new assignment. My husband was offered a job as Chaplain for the Texas Dept of Criminal Justice. I knew God was opening a door or opportunity for me as well and that was to take New Heart Living into the men's prison so they could be set free from wrong beliefs just like I was.

We're always looking for volunteers to foster in their homes, help care for animals in the retail stores who allow us to show adoptable pets, help care for animals at the rescue ranch in Alvin, work special events, and transport animals to veterinary appointments and to their adopters. To get involved, interested people can go to bit.ly/starlightadopt to fill out a volunteer questionnaire and indicate their interest and availability. Kids 6th grade and older can also volunteer as long as a parent accompanies them and supervises them during their volunteer time.
Our next big event is Purrs and Paws for Santa Claus. This is our annual, week-long online fundraising event that gives people the opportunity to buy Starlight Merchandise, participate in a wine pull, enter contests for their pets, and get the chance to win great raffle items. Michael Podolny has over 45 years of experience working with the owners of privately-held businesses. Podolny’s career began in the world of financial transactions working first in commercial banking then as a principal of an investment banking firm focusing on mergers and acquisitions of smaller privately-held businesses and finally as a consultant helping businesses plan and execute for their ultimate exit.
Going into semi-retirement in 2014, he began to travel extensively. His interactions with many business owners and working people throughout the developing world convinced him of the very important need for job development in the developing world. He undertook a multi-year process of finding a project that would be best suited for his skills and connections. In 2019, he came to Ghana, West Africa. Working with long-time disadvantaged woman advocate Gail Grant, they developed the concept of Theodora Africa which was launched in 2020, has successfully completed its prototype and is looking to scale substantially.
Theodora Africa is an innovative platform whose mission is to transform the lives of African women via the power of business creation. Hundreds of thousands of African women find themselves funneled into sex work due to environmental factors (no social safety net, lack of jobs, misogynistic culture). We use the power of business creation, but not any business creation, but businesses that provide meaningful business services to underserved developed country markets.
Our primary innovations are:
We find the market opportunity first before we recruit and train – seeking out underserved markets for outsourced services in developed countries where our sales price is a value to our clients but the amount earned is substantial for our participants.
Creating specific environments to drive behavior change – don’t just teach…create a total immersion into a new set of values that drives individual transformation of participants faster.
Pathway to ownership – we are not the entrepreneurs…our goal is to make our participants the ultimate owners so we don’t just create jobs, we create capital.
You can help Theodora Africa by HELPING YOURSELF! If you find you need an administrative assistant and hire a Theodora Africa assistant, you make your own life better but simultaneously create a better opportunity for women in Africa. How cool is that? Theodora Africa services...a win for your charity and a win for women in Africa!

Eretta learned the importance of giving back at an early age. She grew up in a family full of Veterans, from her father who was a well-known cowboy and Army veteran, to her older brother, as well a her husband, A Vet's Choice Co-Founder, Harold O. Perry.
She later devoted 20 years of her life to teaching and then became a Real Estate Consultant, an Entrepreneur and a Philanthropist. Her upbringing and compassion for people never departed from her.
Twenty eight percent of Greater Houston's homeless population are veterans (approximately 3,600). 5-10% of Houston's homeless are women veterans. About 45% of homeless veterans suffer from mental illness. With a special affinity towards helping our veterans, Eretta and her husband have always prayed to be part of the answer to these problems.
Being part of the answer is what led her to found Love And Hope For Our Heroes, an organization focused on creating stable, vibrant and healthy communities by providing affordable, service-led housing. We serve people with special needs with the full spectrum of affordable housing, including elder care, mental health, VA housing, halfway homes, assisted living, sober homes and much more.
"True happiness consists in giving and serving others; that is the meaning of life" -Eretta

Following the loss of her husband in January, 2015, Bobbi Mason quickly realized the lack of resources available to young widows and felt an urgency to become an ambassador to young widows and those who have suffered traumatic loss. In February, 2018, she launched Widow Thrive and the 501(c)(3) non-profit, Widow’s Wish Foundation. Through Widow’s Wish Foundation and her online Facebook “Widow Thrive” Community, Bobbi assists and supports young widows with the enormous grief “dynamics” that they face, specifically in their first year of loss. Widow’s Wish Foundation supplies financial assistance in the form of meals, gift cards for gas, groceries; hosting fundraising events for families; and a Christmas gifting program. Bobbi also organizes a Houston Widows & Widowers meetup group that encourages local widows/widowers to connect and share their grieving journeys with one another in a casual, fun atmosphere, at various venues once a month.

Toward the end of 2016, as gun violence in Chicago reached its highest levels in 20 years, a group of Chicago area business, faith, community, non-profit, civic and government leaders met to explore the common question they asked themselves:
Is there more that can be done to address the root causes of the current level of violence we are experiencing?
They realized that though the challenges in Chicago are highly complex and have developed over decades, there are strategic actions that can be taken to create a “collective impact”. Through these conversations, the desire to form a new nonprofit organization grew and Together Chicago was born. We formally launched Together Chicago in the fall of 2017 and are currently engaged in our five areas of focus – economic development, education, violence reduction, gospel justice, and faith community mobilization.
Michael Allen is a Co-Founder of Together Chicago and serves as the Chief Strategy Officer. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica and immigrated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his family in 1977. In 1986 he became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Hillary’s desire to do more to help stabilize the lives of children in need led her to a 10-year career at Communities In Schools – Bay Area. She worked directly with students in Clear Creek ISD for 5 years before transitioning to the Resource Development Director role where over her tenure, she helped raise over $1M. Also, during this time, Hillary received her Master of Arts from University of Houston – Clear Lake in Cross Cultural Studies.
When the opportunity arose to help develop and implement the HIGHER Up Texas program, Hillary knew this was the next step in her life-long goal of positively impacting the life trajectory of children. She is eager and excited to be on this journey to kick start the program during its pilot year at Dickinson High School.
Hillary has received the Houston Business Journal’s 2015 40 Under 40 honor as well as the Galveston Daily News 2019 40 Under 40 honor. She never takes a day for granted and serves in any way she can to brighten the days of others.

The Sanctuary Foster Care Services exist to achieve permanent sanctuary and healing homes for children from hard places. Their story begins with experiencing firsthand a system that is broken and deciding to work to fix it. The Executive Director, Amanda Boyd, began working in the foster care field seven years ago to address problems she encountered with the system when she became a foster mother to a sibling group of three who she and her husband later adopted.
Amanda Boyd is an amazing mother, businesswoman, care-giver, and wife. She is doing some amazing things in the community with her organization!

I had an amazing discussion with Jo Ann today about her missing daughter, Ali, and how she is helping other families in our community.
Jo Ann's Story
"I’ve never though about what I do is considered “serving the community” but I guess it is.
My daughter Alexandria went missing after stepping off her school bus more than 10 years ago. Never in my life would I have thought I would still be searching this long.
I’ve connected with other families over the years and found they also struggle as I do, so I formed a support group for families with a missing loved one.
I’ve had the City of Houston proclaim Ali’s birthday as Houston Missing Persons Day. And 4 years ago it is also National Missing Persons Day.
I connected with Texas EquuSearch a short time after Ali went missing and now they are like my family. My time doesn’t always allow me to physically search anymore, so now I try to fundraise for them by organizing a golf tournament."

About the BCAA
The Bauer College Alumni Association (BCAA) is a constituency group of the University of Houston Alumni Association (UHAA). BCAA was established in support of the C. T. Bauer College of Business and the University of Houston. Together, we work to engage alumni, provide quality events and programs, and to support the initiatives set forth by UH President & Chancellor, Dr. Renu Khator.
Our goal is to engage past, present, and future alumni by hosting a variety of events, such as the 9/11 Day of Service at the Houston Food Bank. We host multiple networking breakfasts, happy hours, tailgates and volunteer events. BCAA members also participate in activities like student recruiting, mentoring, and career services events.
BCAA works to build Cougar pride. We believe that the “Bauer Experience” should last a lifetime. This is why we work to engage the Bauer alumni with Houston’s business community, current students, our college, and the University. By making these Cougar connections, we build a community that will work together to help Bauer reach Tier One status.

I had a great discussion with Brian Tally, US Military Veteran & Veteran Advocate. Brian selflessly works for the rights of our veterans to proper medical care in VA hospitals.
Brian Tally: "Giving the voiceless in this country of voice. A voice of reason of voice of advocacy and, in a voice that will fight honorably and that is what I had done. I didn't choose this job. This job chose me when this all happened."

About Trisha Stetzel
Trisha Stetzel is the co-owner of ResultsXtreme Business Solutions, helping business owners find their focus and remove the roadblocks in the way of their success. Trisha has twelve years of experience owning, growing, and managing multiple small businesses.
Prior to her successful launch as an entrepreneur Trisha spent 8 years as a leader in IBM, working with small teams and large corporate clients such as Lucent Technologies and Washington Mutual (now Chase Bank). Trisha also served in the United States Navy for 8 years as a Cryptologic Technician. Her experience in business ownership and service to others has given Trisha the drive and expertise to collaborate with business owners and leaders to improve their systems, business acumen, and bottom line.
As a champion of all-around health and fitness, Trisha has devoted a significant portion of her time to the wellness industry – for both humans and animals. For the past twelve years, she has owned a local in-home pet care and dog-walking services business while in parallel providing education to both pet parents and pet professionals for the last 8 years as a Certified Pet CPR Instructor. She has achieved Elite Trainer status as a Certified Personal Trainer, Senior Fitness Trainer, and Fitness Nutrition Specialist.
Trisha also volunteers with Faithful Friends Animal Assisted Therapy, working with animals in Senior Assisted Living and Nursing Facilities and serves on two different Boards of Directors: Social Director, Waterford Yacht Club, and Event Director for Second Chance Pets.
Trisha’s passion for helping others in the community and in business led her to become a Certified FocalPoint Business Coach & Trainer, working with Brian Tracy International, and offering corporations training in Navigational Conversations through Leadscape Learning, allowing her the opportunity to share her gift of knowledge, experience, and altruism with a broader audience. Business coaching has enabled Trisha the opportunity to collaborate with many business owners, creating positive growth and a heightened sense of community.
