Join Janet Powers and Mary Jo Rapini each Thursday at 12Noon EST for an honest and open conversation about life, relationships and and women's issues.

In line with the Diva Toolbox mission to inspire, educate and empower women with the information they need to succeed, Mary Jo's goal is to help women gain the freedom to be all they can be, and she hopes that all women will find the information we provide useful. Mary Jo believes that what women need to be complete is a strong support system. Often times that comes in the form of a boyfriend or a husband but it does not necessarily have to. A woman's support system should provide her with reinforcement, and should encourage her to be brave enough to make individual strides and be her own person. Women must understand their bodies, their sexuality, and their own passions and gifts. Knowledge about ones health and sexuality is key to finding happiness in relationships.

Liz Mandarano is an attorney with an extensive amount of litigation experience. Her primary focus has been matrimonial, family and some trusts & estates. She enjoys working on cutting edge "unconventional" family issues.

Liz is a single heterosexual woman who has a child,( a 21 month old son named Eli), who’s father is an ID consent sperm donor. She was almost 39 when she had him, and based her decision on how difficult it is for a single woman to adopt as well as the time it takes to adopt (on average 56 months, which would have put her way on the outside of fertility if she was unable to find a child to adopt).

Interestingly, the vast majority of people, including those who lean towards a more conservative approach, supported Liz's decision to have a child on her own. It seems the general reaction is that it was better to do it this way than be with the wrong person.

Listen as Liz goes into detail on her mission to support alternative family planning.

Explaining financial stress and turmoil in a marriage to your small children. Many couples are struggling right now during this economic crisis and it seems like there is no end in sight. I was raised in a very poor family and I remember the “money arguments” my parents used to have. It affected me as a child. Children at this age are more insightful than adults realize. They are very sensitive to seeing the main adults in their life upset or unhappy. They do not like marital discord and feel insecure when parents fight.
Children are happiest when parents sit with them and discuss what the family is dealing with and how everyone can help. A child often times feel like they are too little to help with “big issues”. But, a wise family understands the importance of everyone feeling responsible in a family. A very young child can understand what is going on (in 6 year old language) and how he can help. He needs to be empowered by you and your wife asking him what he feels he can do without in order to cut costs. He also needs to be complimented on his ability to help.

Austin Davis literally fell into the Fitness/Weight Loss field by accident!
Until June 6th 2002, he was just your average everyday former professional comedian (he has opened for acts as diverse as Jay Leno and Wayne Newton) and former police officer who years earlier had happily combined both backgrounds into a full time self employed comedy crime speaker, police trainer, and security consultant as owner/creator of www.davisseminars.com and a VERY active skydiver.

On that June day he had a bad (are there good?) skydiving accident that left him pretty beat up and with a health care policy he quickly found out did not cover skydiving (who reads these things anyhow?). Austin's road to personal fitness and health was slow and challenging and along the way he learned a lot. Austin learned that “conventional wisdom” about fitness was tainted by the extremes of either “Body Building” or “endurance athletics”.

So, he took his “police trainer” skeptical mindset and his comedian’s optimism and studied hard and passed the (A.C.E.) certification and opened Fit & Funny. Austin's first few brave clients he took on for free telling them to not promote him in any way other than when asked about their weight loss to hand out my business card and say “call Austin”. Soon, his rapidly weight losing clients helped create a very full training schedule. Austin's client booking schedule full, he decided to limit the time with him by creating a 12-week program.

In Law Enforcement there is a saying, “When you get in trouble you call the Police... When Police get in trouble they call SWAT”. When Doctors, Hospitals, Corporations and Individuals get into weight control trouble they call Austin --- he is “The Weight Whisperer”!
