Michael Parisi has spent 30 years working in the music industry. He started at Warner Music as a Promotions Manager before moving into marketing and A&R (Artists and repertoire) roles.
His time in the industry has seen him put in charge of artist rosters including the likes of Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Nine Inch Nails, Green Day in his marketing role at Warner and AC/DC, Garbage and Kylie Minogue in his role at Mushroom Records.
His first band he signed, a then-unknown UK three-piece at the time, becoming a band you may know as MUSE, Michael’s instinct for what works in the industry is second to none, having more #1 albums than any managing director or A&R around this time.
His career has also seen him contribute to the success of artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, K.D Lang and REM.
Michael is one of the most well-known music managers in Australia. He is the mastermind behind some of Australia’s most successful musicians and currently looks after Vera Blue, Dan Sultan, Owl Eyes, Polish Club, and Disco Faith. There is so much to learn from Michael. I know this episode will bring you so much knowledge.

Lucy Travis, a.k.a Rya Park, is an Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Melbourne. Born in London, but raised in Singapore, she has had an interesting journey. Her music is acclaimed for its eloquent and charismatic aspects; its themes of toxic relationships, heartbreak, mental health, and melancholia.

Pierce Brothers twins, Jack and Pat, have been shaking dance floors and selling out rooms across the UK, Europe, Canada, USA and Australia since 2014. If you mention busking in Melbourne the first band name that will come to mind will be… The Pierce Brothers! These two grew a name for themselves with their irresistible energy and world class live shows. Bursting onto the scene in 2014, they began a steady journey building audiences and selling out shows all over the world, supporting artists the likes of The Cat Empire, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, to name a few. Woodlock are a Melbourne based Alt-folk Trio who found success busking all over Australia. New Zealand-born brothers Zech and Eze Walters struck up a friendship with Bowen Purcell (drums) after moving to Australia. In search of adventure, the three traveled around the country busking, before eventually settling in Melbourne. Now signed to Nettwerk Records, the trio has been recording new music over nine months in a variety of locations – from Bowen’s garage to Homesurgery Recordings in Melbourne – and working with producers Hayden Calnin (Didirri, Harrison Storm, and a solo artist in his own right) and Jackson Barclay (Vera Blue, Winterbourne, Timberwolf). Their new music – a dynamic mix of organic, acoustic elements and electronic flourishes – is a breathtakingly candid collection of songs about heartbreak, trauma and hope. Indie-folk singer-songwriter Harrison Storm has already amassed 160+ million combined streams on Spotify. He has made a name for himself on the road as an honest and charismatic performer with crowd-pleasing confidence, playing alongside artists such as Snow Patrol, The Paper Kites, Ziggy Alberts, and Hollow Coves. Diligently chasing his musical dream with a sense of urgency, he dropped out of university to solely devote his days to busking for tourists in Melbourne, eventually making enough to finance his 2015 debut EP Sense of Home, produced by friend Hayden Calnin. Tania Doko is the front woman for ARIA award winning pop duo, ‘Bachelor Girl’. Their hit song ‘Buses And Trains’ released in 1998 won ‘Song Of The Year’. 2018 marked the 20th anniversary of the ‘Buses and Trains’ release and was acknowledged by APRA as the most played Australian composition on Australian radio in the last 20 years! Tania’s songwriting and music has taken her all around the globe, she is still performing and is now a full time songwriter in Sweden. 2019 has been a massive year at Coach Music Academy. Celebrating the opening of our official studio in Frankston, located within a beautifully designed warehouse. We were host to four workshops including 'How to Start Busking and Gigging' featuring 'The Buskers Guide' Founders, 'Harmonies' with Ash Kennedy, Elle Murphy and Hayley Noy, 'Acting' with Channel 9 star Riley Nottingham, and a 2-hour special guest workshop from Bachelor Girl’s, Tania Doko.
Our students continued to shine this year and we were proud to celebrate the success of long-time student ‘Tulliah’ as a finalist in Triple J's Unearthed High. Her first single 'Company' gained recognition, and she finished the year by supporting superstar Amy Shark.

Hayley Noy is a musical theatre queen and Vocal Coach at Coach Music Academy. She has worked with professionals such as Neil Gladwin, Trevor Jones and Kelly Abbey, and was a lead soloist performing Home (The Wizard of Oz) at Hisense Arena, aired on channel 7. Some of her many credits include Showtrain: A New Australian Musical (Chongy), Bye Bye Birdie (Mae Peterson), RENT (Dance Captain), Sweeney Todd (Ensemble), Hairspray (Tracy Turnblad), as well as performing her self devised Cabaret ‘Material Girl’, at the Ballarat Cabaret Festival. Since finishing University she has continued working in the Industry and has had experience both auditioning and being a judge. Loads to learn from this talented young lady!

Riley Nottingham is an actor, producer, and singer. He is an Associate Producer on ‘The Weekly with Charlie Pickering’ and is known for his work in the children's TV series ‘Toybox’, and ABC's drama 'The Gods of Wheat Street’, along with Hamish and Andy’s ‘True Stories’. Recently he finished work on the ‘Bus to Birra Birra’, which is the follow-up filming to, ‘Your Call is Important to Us’. In 2014 she began working on original material. Zaryna’s unprecedented Debut Visual EP ‘I Am Mine’ premiered on December 8th 2018. The 15-minute short film explores her Journey to liberty as she addresses the harrows of her past - which we covered in this episode. Damien Platt is a Melbourne-based Artist Manager. Damien was named by APRA as one of Australia’s top 5 music managers to watch. Over the 8 years he has been in the music industry he has worked across a wide range of roles from event management at festivals, tour management, sound engineering, musician, record labels, PR, publishing and artist management.
In 2015, Damien was elected onto two not-for-profit boards, The Push and Face the Music Conference. In the same year Damien started at Teamtrick as a day-to-day manager A&R working with acts such as Allday and Mallrat. In 2017, Damien commenced working as a product manager at Vicious Recordings (Peking Duk, Avicii, Madison Avenue) where he oversees five independent dance labels as well as starting his own management company Palms Management.

With a killer band at her back, a tasteful mix of rock and soul sensibilities, and classic 60’s & 70’s ballad influences from the likes of Joni Mitchell and Diana Ross, her powerhouse style really is a creation all of her own, straight from the heart.
Having recently released her first single, “Minds On Fire”, with another soon to follow and a freshly recorded debut EP on the way, ALLIPHA is just getting started.
Caterina Torres toured with Ricky Martin - need we say more. She is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter with a career spanning over 15 years. At 18, she signed a record deal with Sony/RCA in Britain. In 2013, Caterina was a contestant on The Voice. Her coach, Ricky Martin invited her to be a special guest on his national tour, performing in arenas around the country. She later signed to Mercury Records Australia which is part of Universal Music Australia. And that is just skimming the surface.

Max Bishop better know as Morning Maxwell is a DJ/Producer based in Melbourne, Australia. He has been a regular on the DJ circuit since 2015. Maxi performs his highly energetic sets often ending up half-naked and viciously dancing into the very early hours of the morning, recently performing at Beyond The Valley.
He is also a producer to watch with this debut single Tryna Chill Ft Bluey Moon creating a massive buzz . It’s easy to assume the life of a DJ when you see the crazy life they lead on social media but we dove a little deeper in this convo and we got to know this down to earth guy who just wants to make music, sip tea and set an example for young musos out there that you can literally be high on life. There is so much to learn from Maxi and his journey is only just beginning.
