Luke, Heidi and Sean get together to discuss the latest Xbox and PlayStation news.
They cover the pricing and launch date announcements for the Xbox Series X and S, and the PlayStation 5, as well as looking at all the launch titles coming for both systems, and the PS5 game showcase.
Yesterday Microsoft presented their long awaited Xbox 20/20 Games Showcase. It focused entirely on the games we will be able to play on the Xbox Series X and included a number of world premieres, console exclusives, and more.
We've recorded a special edition of the TrueAchievements Podcast to share our thoughts on the Xbox Games Showcase. We touch on most of the games in the event, discussing what we liked, what we didn't, what surprised us, and finally some predictions for the future.
Happy New Year TA-ers!
Welcome to our end of year special, where Sam, Ollie and I were joined by our Editorial Manager, Mark, as we take our annual look back at all of the biggest news stories, site announcements and games from the world of Xbox and PlayStation over the past 12 months.
Thanks for listening, sending in questions and providing feedback on the show throughout the past year. It's not the end of the show completely, however, as we'll be back to share our opinions on some of the bigger games as they release and the larger industry events, so stay tuned to the homepage to catch the next episode.

In last week's podcast notes, I mentioned that we had been tossing around the idea of switching from a solely TA focussed podcast to a TGN podcast, where we can discuss and debate all of the latest news and games from both Xbox and PlayStation. Thankfully, the feedback was positive, and so this week, we'd like to introduce you to the very first episode of the TGN podcast!
Joining me on this week's show are Ollie and Sam, as we share out thoughts on the newly released Assassin's Creed Odyssey and discuss what could be next for Ubisoft's long-running franchise, discuss the leaked Harry Potter RPG footage, marvel at the latest Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay trailer, and look at what's now available for free in October's Games with Gold and PS Plus offerings. Welcome to episode 139 of the TrueAchievements podcast. Before we get into what we've covered on this week's show, we'd like to thank all of you that took the time to provide some feedback on the format of the show. The general consensus was that reading out long lists of new achievements and new releases were boring a low point, so we've made some changes this week to only discuss the bigger games and the ones that really interest us.
We've also been swapping around some ideas internally, and one of the suggestions we thought might be worth exploring is switching from a solely TA focussed podcast to a TGN podcast, where we can discuss and debate all of the latest news and games from both Xbox and PlayStation. Of course, that would mean we'd mostly be covering the same things we normally would be as most of the big games are multi-platform, with the odd discussion around some PS4 exclusives thrown in for good measure. If you have any thoughts (both pros and cons) on this idea, please let us know in the comments below.
With all that out of the way, let's get back to this week's episode.

We've gone ID@Xbox mad this week. Partly due to the fact that Dead Rising 4 was the only big release from the past week, but also due to our new regular Twitch streams of ID@Xbox games.
On this week's show, we talk about Dead Rising 4 and some of the strange and wonderful weapon and clothing combos available, the 15 minutes 100% completion that is Energy Cycle, the brutally tough Furi, Wand Wars' couch multiplayer and the very British humour available in Her Majesty's SPIFFING. The rush of games has finally slowed down, which meant none of us started any new games this week - well not that we can talk about, unfortunately. Instead Rich spent some more time with Watch_Dogs 2, Jack took a break from regional variants to play some Overcooked, and I returned to Assassin's Creed The Ezio Collection before switching to an upcoming new release that's filled with zombies and photographs.
On this week's show, we talk about the latest site updates, our exciting new link-up with ID@Xbox and why Rich is wearing leather pants to celebrate. We also go through what we've been playing, all of the big news stories from the past week, take a look at the games that will be coming our way next week, and answer your questions from the history of TA to what we like on our chips (french fries for the non-English).
