We live in a day in which self-confidence and pride are promoted over and against biblical morality and obedience to our God. We are told to be strong, bold, and courageous, and we’re counseled to do so by compromising our convictions on the alter of cultural relevance, political correctness, and social convenience. But what if strength, courage, and success were not evaluated by human praise and approval but by fidelity to the infallible albeit ancient revelation from God: the Bible?
God wants us as Christians to find love and genuine belonging in the fellowship of the church. Yet how can we, as a church family, deepen our love for each other past a superficial level? Our passage this week commands us to “love one another earnestly,” but it also shows how God has provided us the ability to fulfill that very command through the gospel message.
