So this is the mix I played for Twisted Elegance’s 18th Birthday Livestream and has been exclusive to Manchester Made Me Funky, but I wanted to share with you, my podcast listeners too.
The mix takes you through some of my fave tracks from the mid nineties, influenced by the likes of Allister Whitehead, Jeremy Healy and Graeme Park and clubs like Cream, Moneypenny’s and Peruvia to name but a few, that have influenced me as a DJ over the years, as I went on to play for those brands and then the mix progressively brings you to the wonder years of Twisted Elegance and some of my big tracks during those 5 amazing years at Ampersand, including some of my own personal edits.
This truly is nearly 4 hours of funky/ vocal goodness and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did putting it together.
Now clear away the furniture, apply ear protection to children , granny and any pets, turn the volume button to full, press play and let your kitchen disco begin!

Tribal/ big room house, with a touch of breaks has always been a fave sound for me, best heard in the likes of the Ibizan church, Pacha, at Roger Sanchez’s Release Yourself nights, when the man himself would perform his legendary 7 hour sets that would take you on a real journey. With tribal beats and the big room sound starting to come through again I thought I would do a mix capturing the that sound over the last 4 decades. Enjoy x

Classics Fest....Hartley v’s Football (European Champions League)
So I was set the challenge of playing a terrace set at the same time as the football hit the big screen on the street adjacent to where I was playing. And yes everyone rushed to watch before I pressed play on the first track.
What happened next was me having an absolute ball, playing the stuff I wanted to play and keeping away from the other usual stuff that would have been battered throughout the event.
And yes the dance floor came back...And yes it was 90% female, but that’s the best crowd
Been a long time since I’ve had that much fun playing a set
This is the mix I played on Boxing Night at The Quad Reunion alongside legendary Cream resident Seb Fontaine

Having played at a Jacked party last year and it being one of the best gig's I had played during 2015, I was so looking forward to my return at their 3rd Birthday. Unfortunately due to sickness I had to pull out.
So by way of an apology to those who turned out to see me, I thought I would put a mix together from the play list of tracks I had created for the night.
Its full of big room house, remixes of a few classics and a few of my own reedits thrown in for good measure.
I hope you enjoy the mix and I look forward to playing for Jacked again in 2017.
I know its been a while since I published a podcast, but some things are just worth waiting for ☺
This is a mix I played live at an event called “Jacked” in December and while being an intimate gig of around 250, it was probably one of my best gigs of 2015 in terms of atmosphere and crowd reaction.
The mix is filled with modern mixes of old classics, live edits and big room house beats and tech across 4 decks.
Looking forward to my return visit to Jacked in 2016.
This is my last podcast of 2015. Massive thank you to all those who have supported me over the last 12 months from promoters to followers and clubbers.
Hope you all have an amazing 2016 x
I was lucky enough to be invited back to play at the 2nd Reminisce Classics Festival this year. One amazing atmosphere across every arena that was like going back to 1995.
I also played the afterparty at The Garage in Liverpool, which was absolutely off the hook and allowed me to dig deep and play some tracks that I didn't think would resurface from the record box again. So I though I would share this with you all to enjoy.
The next festival these guys are putting on is Scream Fest at Southport Pleasure Beach. For further details visit this page https://www.facebook.com/events/868381313211415/

My latest mix is a blend of deep, tech, techno and tribal house beats...we just call it house
Enjoy and like if you like :)
Last night I had a vision of a disco in the sky, I saw angels and saints dancing together. like the mystical dream it clouded my mind but I remembered to move, I remembered that groove, I remembered the thump of the bass and the pump of the kick, because my heart was almost out my body and I felt free, I felt joy, I felt things I never thought I’d feel before. it was deep it was soulful it was techno it was disco, a clydascope of sounds it was truly underground it was an essential mix in the cloud where we could dance and sing out loud it was New York Ibiza and Miami all wrapped up into one. there were speakers the size of skyscrapers and the stars they flickered like straws, and everybody loved everybody else. there was no hurt there was no sorrow there was no pain and like children we danced and we laughed and we played. without a care in the world without a flicker of despair it was all about house music it was that thing that we shared, a tribal beast of rhythm a ceremony of sound the gathering of the spirits that would lift us off the ground, my vision was so clear, but it was still hazy in my mind, I must have went to house heaven, because nothing's left alive.
This is the mix I did at this years Creamfields in the Toolroom Arena. Its packed with house, tribal, tech and a few little re edits
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did playing it out live

I had the absolute honour of playing 2 sets alongside the legend that is Roger Sanchez on 1st May. For me and for the people that I know attended it truly epitomized the Perfect Night with an amazing crowd, the explosive atmosphere, the stunning venue, the music and the S Man.
I would personally like to thank both Peter and Pez from the Perfect Night for allowing one of my dreams to become reality and on behalf of those that attended for a great memory and one hell of a cheeky grin.
This mix has been put together to catch some of the highlights from my 2 sets and to keep your cheeky grin firmly fixed in place See you all at the next Perfect Night Extravaganza

This is the first full length mix I have done in over 6 years and it's not down to being lazy, more my trying to balance the pressures of my professional career, with being a Director/ Resident DJ at Twisted Elegance. But following my resignation from Twisted Elegance in November 07, I thought it was about time I sorted a mix out. I am not going to label this mix with a genre of house music, as I believe that house is house and people attend parties for the love of the music and to escape the stress of their daily lives, so as a DJ you should play whatever it takes to bring the floor alive and create an amazing atmosphere.
What I will say is that this mix is tougher than the trademark sound of TE in Manchester, but as those who have witnessed me play at other venues such as at Twisted's parties at Nation (Liverpool) and El Divino in Ibiza know, I am not one for predictability and instead will fuel the dancefloor to wring out every ounce of emotion in the clubber through my signature style of breakdowns, big builds and driving basslines
2007 was an amazing year for me as a DJ, achieving many of my dreams guesting at Moneypenny's - Birmingham, Chuff Chuff, HedKandi parties at Nation and finally playing the closing set back to back with Rob Tissera at Kiss Da Funk at El Divino. Now having left Twisted, I am presented with the great opportunity to showcase my versatility as a DJ and to continue doing what I love...putting smiles on clubbers' faces
This mix is not for the faint hearted, while starting relatively mellow, it soon climbs into its pace of big room house, with driving baselines, epic breakdowns and explosive builds
Hope you enjoy and please feel free to pass it on to your friends

This mix is a little different to my signature sound and is a journey across a number of genres of house. It marks the end of the first 12 months since deciding to leave Twisted Elegance and embark on my solo journey through clubland.
I would just like to thank some of those who have continued to support me and provide me with some amazing opportunities inc. the team at Cream, Peter & Pez at The Perfect Night, the teams at; Moneypenny’s, Socialeye’s, Fragile, Cube, Gbar & Glamour, Julian at Nexum Leisure, Pat & Huey at Twisted Elegance, Dave Graham - Lee Butler - Les Calvert at Radio City and last but not least the Liverpool Echo and clublands very own Carrie Bradshaw (you know who you are ;-)).
This will be last mix of 2008 available for download…so think of it as my Christmas present to you
Have a great Christmas and New Year
Enjoy
Alan
Probably the biggest date in the UK’s clubbing calendar and this year it’s their 10th anniversary…yes Creamfields in upon us. With no expense spared and no stone left unturned, this is not to be missed. This will be the only event worth telling the grandchildren about, with those attending having so many take home memories and more than a few cheeky grins to accompany.
For me, being booked to play at this event is such a privilege and to be given the 2 hour closing set in the Hospitality Arena is an absolute honour. Having first found my passion for Cream some 13 years ago as a clubber and it being the place I took my now wife to on our first date, I thought I should put a bit of a mix together to celebrate.
Charged with a mixture of future anthems and remixes of those of the past, I can assure you, this is only a taste of what I will deliver on the night.
I hope you enjoy listening to this mix as much as I enjoyed putting this together
See you on the dancefloor ;-)
Alan
