In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I talk about some things we can do to survive the holidays when we are feeling sad and grieving.
This episode of Change It Up Radio is the second part of our special Grief and the Holidays series. This subject is very near and dear to my heart because when you’re hurting at this time of year, it can be very lonely and agonizing. Grief on its own is difficult enough, but it can really be magnified when the holidays roll around, and everyone else seems to be so happy and festive.
If you’re grieving a loss of some sort right now, you’re likely riddled with memories of fonder times when things felt happier, and you may be thinking, “What on earth do I do now? How do I feel better?”
It’s hard to imagine that these feelings of sadness and emptiness will ever fade, and celebrating the holidays the same way you have in the past may just not be possible right now. That’s okay. Today, I’m going to be talking about my Holiday Survival Checklist and sharing several helpful tips for those who are grieving and going through some kind of heavy emotional pain at this time of year.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Malynda Hale joins me to talk about intersectionality in activism and the parallels between anti-Blackness and antisemitism.
My guest today, Malynda Hale, uses her voice through her music and social media presence as an educating activist to effect change within social justice, female empowerment, LGBTQ+ rights, veganism, the Black Lives Matter movement, and Progressive Christianity.
She joins me today to talk about intersectionality in activism and explains why this particular approach helps to ensure that no one gets left behind in the fight for justice and equality. The reality is that each person has their own unique experiences of oppression and discrimination, and it's important that we consider all factors that can be used to marginalize people, including gender, race, class, sexual orientation, etc.
We also discuss progressive Christianity and social justice, the parallels between anti-Blackness and antisemitism, and using social media for change. Malynda shares the importance of broadening our horizons, educating ourselves, and getting outside of our comfort zones in order to create real change in the fight against oppression. Her motto is that everything begins with a conversation.

My dad, Jack Gutman, and his best friend, Jerry Ackerman, met at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California, during World War II and were instant buddies who were both from New York and had many things in common. Unfortunately, they were separated when they were assigned different battleships that were en route to the invasion of Okinawa – one of the biggest naval battles of World War II that left thousands dead.
Fast forward to 2022, Jack and Jerry, who are now both 96 years old, have been reunited after a long 75 years of not even knowing if the other was still alive, all thanks to Jerry’s son, Peter, and some searching on Google! Many of you met both of these men when we shared their story on Memorial Day of this year. But, a lot has happened since then… a month after our last interview, Jack and Jerry finally got to see each other again in person!
In this episode, they reminisce about fond old memories and their fast-growing friendship during World War II and share their experience of being reunited for the first time in over 7 decades at Camp Pendleton, where it all began for them. This beautiful love story about two best friends reuniting after thinking that they’d never see each other again has since gone viral online, warming many people’s hearts, helping them during hard times, and reminding us all that nothing in this world is more important or more powerful than love.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Jeanine Thompson joins me to talk about how practicing stillness can help empower us to answer the call from our soul and unleash our highest potential in all areas of life.
It’s a noisy world we live in. Stillness, the one thing most high achievers avoid, is one of the most accessible and powerful avenues to fulfilling and redefining what success means to you. When you learn to befriend and anchor yourself in stillness, what once felt overwhelming or foggy can become clear, and your true capacity, needs, joys, and desires for your best life can be revealed and realized.
My guest, Jeanine Thompson, a transformational coach, speaker, and author, joins us to talk about how practicing stillness, or “doing nothing,” can help us reach our highest potential. She explains what stillness is, how we can create it in our lives, and how it creates the space to connect with our inner genius.
Jeanine also discusses what it means to have a “911” from our soul, and explains that despite outward success, many of us are still filled with restlessness and a yearning for something more in our lives. She shows us this longing isn’t a drive toward more achievement, but rather a desire to return home to ourselves.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I talk about important life lessons I've learned over the course of my 72 years on Earth, and more!
I’m always interviewing other people on Change It Up Radio and helping you to get to know my wonderful guests, but since today is my 72nd birthday I thought, “Well, maybe I’ll just do that for myself today!"
The truth is, I've never done something like this before, but I thought it might be fun to share some of my own thoughts and experiences I've had in my own life. Because let's face it, I've been on this planet for 72 years now... I've seen some things! And, I'm happy to say that I've learned many valuable lessons that I'd love to share with you.
In this special birthday episode, I will discuss some of the major lessons I've learned in the last year, a very unexpected and painful experience I had this past summer and what I was able to take away from it, and three questions to ask yourself that can change your life. I will also be talking about what you can expect from this fall season of Change It Up Radio with our new theme, "Giants on the Road Less Traveled."

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Gina Worful joins me to talk about how to become a master of your health and the emotions that trigger food cravings and cause a painful cycle of shame and self-sabotage.
So many people find themselves wondering, “Why can’t I just lose this weight?!” The reality is that losing weight and keeping it off can be quite difficult. Despite what some people in the wellness industry might say, there is no quick fix or magic pill when it comes to weight loss.
My guest today, Gina Worful, who is a registered dietitian and master of human nutrition, joins us to talk about her personal struggles with health and learning how to love, understand, and connect with her body on a deeper level. She shares how her journey fueled her passion for teaching others how to know, trust, and feel confident with their bodies from the inside out.
Gina explains the science of how and why we get food cravings, why habits are so hard to break, and how we can become the master of our own minds and the emotions that trigger cravings and cause self-sabotage. She shares how we can learn to allow our cravings to communicate to us what our bodies need rather than creating more restrictions around our diets and shaming ourselves along the way.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Chad Stewart joins me to talk about his fast-paced young adult adventure series, "Britfield," and the importance of creativity and innovation in the education of young people today.
My guest today, Chad Stewart, is a prolific writer, producer, creativity specialist, and prominent speaker, as well as the author and creative mind behind the Britfield series. He joins me today to discuss how Britfield engages, stimulates, and inspires young readers to explore and discover their own creativity in a realistic world of adventure and intrigue, and explains why this series is an innovative educational movement in creativity, leadership, and education.
Chad, who has an extensive background in investment banking and business consulting, explains that although he often pursued the logical route in his career, he had always been creative and yearned to do something fun and expressive. He shares how one simple sketch that he had doodled during a boring business seminar sparked an idea for a story that took him in a completely different direction in life.
Having experienced a discouraging decline in creativity himself, Chad recognized that creativity and critical thinking are sidelined by an educational “cookie-cutter mentality” that rewards the common rather than encouraging the ingenuity needed to succeed and thrive in the modern world. This led him to create The Britfield Institute, which is a not-for-profit that is dedicated to encouraging young people to value learning, providing interactive programs to help students learn to innovate, brainstorm, imagine, problem-solve, and create — skills that will prepare them for the future.
While Stewart’s approach might sound reminiscent of J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series, he emphasizes that his subject matter differs drastically, drawing upon history and literary models such as Charles Dickens and the Brontë sisters as the inspirations for his fiction. That focus stems in large part from his studies in European history and British literature at Brown University and his journeys in England.
With the third book, Britfield & the Return of the Prince, coming out in August 2022, the series is well on its way to becoming a multi-media franchise.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Jetta Blaine joins me to talk about the deep cleansing and healing power of Kambo.
Kambo, also known as the “Vaccine of the Rainforest," is a non-psychoactive ancient shamanic remedy that hails from the depths of the Amazon and is simply the secretion of Phyllomedusa bicolor, or the giant monkey tree frog. This ethically-sourced leaf frog secretion is best described as a detoxing purgative, holding powerful treatment potential for a myriad of different mental, physical, and spiritual ailments.
My guest today, Jetta Blaine, is a certified Kambo practitioner, Thai bodywork practitioner, yoga instructor, and lifestyle integration coach who spent years traveling the world studying and living different healing modalities in search of equanimity for her mental and physical health. She is a living example of post-traumatic growth, and credits Kambo and plant medicines as the forefront guides on her healing journey from her once crippling PTSD and depression.
Jetta joins me to share her personal journey with plant medicine and Kambo and how they have been some of the major tools she has used in her journey back to health, and healing, and wholeness. She also provides an in-depth explanation of what Kambo is, where it originated from, what its benefits are, and how it is safely administered as an alternative medicine treatment.

Today, we live in a world with social media, cell phones, and the internet, where it's very easy to reconnect with an old friend or check in with someone we may have lost contact with over the years. But, it wasn't always so easy, especially 75 years ago, for two Navy buddies that got separated and were left wondering what happened to their dear friend over the years.
My dad, Jack Gutman, and his best friend, Jerry Ackerman, met at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California during World War II, and were instant buddies who were both from New York and had a lot of things in common. They formed a club called "the 3 jays" with another friend, Joe Gagliardi, who had also become a part of their group. Unfortunately, they were all eventually reassigned. Jack and Jerry were assigned to the USS Cullman, a troop transport, and they lost contact with Joe. Jack ended up being transferred to another ship, and that was the end of a very beautiful friendship.
For 75 years, they wondered where the other was, how the other was, and if the other was even still alive. They both went about life, going to school, falling in love, and raising their families. Fast forward to 2022, Jack and Jerry, who are now both 96 years old, have finally been reunited, all thanks to Jerry's son, Peter, and a search on Google!
In this episode, they reminisce about fond old memories and their fast-growing friendship during World War II, share their individual stories about meeting their wives and building their families, and talk about their plans to meet again in person for the first time in over 7 decades!
Jack also shares how his friends Jerry and Joe were both incredibly helpful in his healing journey, even though he never said this to them back then, and he shares that being reunited with Jerry again has served as a form of closure to his post-traumatic stress that he had gone through for 66 years. This is a truly beautiful conversation that you do not want to miss!

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Dr. Rayna Gangi joins me to talk about women in the military, navigating Veteran Affairs, veteran suicide prevention, and how we can all do more to honor veterans for their service.
My guest today, Dr. Rayna Gangi, trained as a radio communication engineer and was ready to be one of only a handful of Women Marines deployed to Vietnam. Two days before her embarkment, multiple vaccines paralyzed her from the waist down, and she spent the next several months in the hospital. Rayna fought her way back to mobility and was honorably discharged in 1971.
Through her personal experience, Rayna became more aware of other veterans with disabilities when she approached the VA after her disability had returned and she was no longer able to work. Her experience with the VA was not unlike many who have reached out for help, but the most impactful awareness was for the number of veteran suicides, and the numbers were staggering.
Rayna has since began counseling veterans suffering with PTSD pro bono. She has been focused on prevention and education so that others can help veterans and so veterans can be honored as they should be for their service.
Today, Rayna joins me to talk about the difficulties she faced as a woman navigating the military after enlisting in the U.S. Marines in 1968 during the height of the Vietnam War, sharing the way that she and other women were treated in comparison to their male counterparts. Rayna also shares her struggles with dealing with the VA for disability compensation, and her mission to help prevent and put an end to veteran suicide.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Dylan Bender joins me to talk about the difficulties that veterans experience when transitioning from the warrior culture of the military and reintegrating back into civilian life after returning home.
My guest today, Dylan Bender, is a readjustment therapist with the Veterans Health Administration Vet Centers program who works with active duty, and veterans transitioning back into the civilian life after combat deployment. He has been working in this area for 10 years and has over 20,000 clinical hours in working with combat veterans and their families readjusting after combat. Among the many people that Dylan has worked with, he was my dad's therapist for three years at the VA, which took my dad from a man who suffered with PTSD for 66 years, to someone who's now functioning beautifully with no remnants of those PTSD symptoms.
Dylan joins me today to discuss the challenges that military men and women have when transitioning out of the military and reintegrating back into civilian life. He talks about the influence of behavioral and existential conditioning, the three biggest issues that a warrior struggles with after leaving the military, and the impact that war and this transition has on a veteran’s mental health. Dylan also explains what reintegration stress is, the many uncertainties that veterans have to grapple with post-deployment, and how all of these factors contribute to the suicide epidemic among military men and women.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Tony Perez joins me to talk about using golf as a form of rehabilitation for returning combat-injured veterans.
Tony Perez, is a Vietnam War Veteran and the Founder/President of Operation Game On (OGO), a golf rehabilitation program for returning combat-injured Veterans suffering from severe physical and mental disabilities sustained in combat while deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Battalion West, Camp Pendleton, to equip and instruct hundreds of injured troops, using golf as a form of mental, emotional, and physical therapy. Today, more than 600 combat-injured Veterans have gone through the program, several of whom have credited OGO for preventing them from committing suicide.
Tony provides insight on how golf provides mental and physical rehabilitation which rapidly allows these troops to regain confidence and enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle again.
He shares how Operation Game On's program assists injured soldiers through their rehab by simply taking their mind off injuries, surgeries, and doctors, creates a healing social environment amongst the Veterans with newfound lifetime friendships and a sense of community, and gives them hope of a clearer future after their tragic injuries and the traumatic experiences of war.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I talk about grief, how to support people in emotional pain, and what to avoid saying to someone that's grieving.
Today, I want to talk about some of the things that are helpful to say to someone who is dealing with grief, but even more importantly, what things are not at all helpful to say. Sometimes we don’t realize that the words we say in an attempt to comfort someone we care about are actually causing more pain, because they were said to us at some point and just feel like the “norm.”
Remember, there is a world of grievers out there. We are all going through so much right now, and I guarantee you that if you haven’t already, you’re going to encounter someone who is dealing with grief. Let’s all take the initiative to sharpen our skills and learn how we can be there for others who are in emotional pain by giving them the dignity to feel what they feel without judgment or criticism.
With just a little extra effort, we can create a sympathetic and reassuring environment so that those who are grieving can feel safe enough to express their pain, process their feelings, and begin to heal the devastation, fear, and confusion that they are going through.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Jeff Blanton discusses conscious capitalism, consciousness in the workplace, and how to live and lead with meaning and impact.
My guest today, Jeff Blanton, is a recognized leadership consultant, author, and speaker who even after attaining monetary and professional success, came to find himself in a state of “smoldering discontent.” As his career evolved, he could not help but notice that most individuals, from his perspective, seemed to be simply unfulfilled and content to trade their time for money.
Over the years, Jeff had come to see the value in having a purpose in one’s work and set out to find his own purpose. In doing so, he learned that very few individuals know their foundational purpose and discovered why: it is hard. However, the great news is that, in his search, Jeff not only found his own purpose, but also developed a process for helping others to find theirs as well.
Jeff joins us today to talk about the importance of discovering where our strengths, passion, and purpose truly lie, and how we can find the satisfaction we desire by developing a process to go about igniting our passion and purpose within the work we do. He explains how Conscious Capitalism calls for a different type of leadership, and the rewards and challenges of being a conscious leader.
Jeff provides insight on how these leaders seek a higher purpose for their business beyond profit that positively impacts all the stakeholders beyond the shareholder – employees, customers, vendors, and the community they work in. He also shares how his Jailbreak Leadership Process helps individuals, teams, and large organizations to clarify who they are and where they do their best work through identifying their personal purpose so that they can lead from the top down with significant meaning and impact.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, April Cargill joins me to talk about helping the homeless and transforming lives through the power of running.
My guest today, April Cargill, who is 57 years old and born and raised in Harlem, NY, began running at her local YMCA 10 years ago, after finally kicking her smoking habit of over 36 years. Since then, she has run several official road races, including 11 full marathons (3 of them overseas), 22 half marathons, and countless smaller mileages.
April’s next endeavor will be running in the 2022 Boston Marathon, which is known as the world’s oldest annual marathon, ranking as one of the world’s best-known road racing events. The Boston Marathon draws in over 30,000 runners to Massachusetts and is part of the World Marathon Majors which makes it at the top of any runner’s bucket list.
Not only is April running through eight cities and towns in the 2022 Boston Marathon on April 18th, but she has also been chosen out of many applicants to run for an amazing charity called Back on My Feet (BoMF), an organization that seeks to revolutionize the way society approaches homelessness.
This national organization operating in 15 major cities across the U.S. works to combat homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources. For individuals in need, they hope to provide an environment that promotes accountability, practical training and employment resources for achieving independence, and a community that offers compassion and hope.
April joins us today to discuss how mentally healing running has been for her over the years, proving to help break through some of the struggles and stresses of life. She also shares how her own experience with homelessness when she was very young makes an organization like Back On My Feet hit very close to home and keeps her running and doing what she can to make a difference.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I talk about standing united in the light and building a positive force field to encourage peace and healing for all.
On February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, causing what has since become the largest military assault on a European state and the largest and most accelerated displacement crisis since World War II. As this crisis in Ukraine continues to spiral into a widespread humanitarian catastrophe, nearly 10 million people have been forced to be uprooted from their homes.
Currently, almost 3.5 million people have fled to neighboring countries as refugees. Hundreds of thousands of people have no access to food, water, heat, electricity, medical care, or other basic necessities, houses, schools, hospitals, and roads are being destroyed by ongoing bombs and shelling, and close to 12 million people are estimated to be stranded in Ukraine as violence increases.
As these vicious attacks continue, the world bears witness to the deaths and suffering of innocent civilians who remain in Ukraine and endure the dangers of life under siege. Millions of people are in desperate need of immediate aid and support, and the people of Ukraine are suffering unfathomable loss on every level.
This is producing grief on a huge level worldwide because it is not just the Ukrainian people who are grieving, but also all of us who are watching this nightmarish tragedy unfold. There is collective grief happening across the world right now, and as a grief expert, I could not simply sit back and ignore it.
What I want to talk about today does not come from a political perspective, but really from my perspective as a grief specialist. In this episode, I talk about peace and healing, building a positive force field rather than focusing solely on our fear and outrage, and how miracles are possible when we stand united and committed to spreading the light.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Claudine Van Gonka to talk about the nationwide blood crisis in the U.S. and the importance of donating blood.
We all know how much the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the world as a whole, but there are so many individual consequences that have stemmed from these difficult times. One of these consequences is that the U.S. is currently facing its worst blood shortage in over a decade due to the pandemic fueling a decline in blood drives and overall blood donations across the nation.
With this national blood crisis, the San Diego Blood Bank, and blood banks across the country, are experiencing a major decline in donor turnout. These collection challenges have disrupted blood supply, resulting in alarmingly low inventories of blood products for the community.
My guest, Claudine Van Gonka, the Director of Community Relations and Marketing for the San Diego Blood Bank, joins me today to discuss the current national blood shortage, how this crisis evolved, and what we can do about it. She explains the importance of keeping blood drives going, making appointments to donate, and doing so on a regular basis if and when eligible. Claudine also provides information about who is and isn’t eligible to donate blood, along with how the donation process works and what to expect.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Amy Scruggs to talk about shifting our focus on what could go right instead of what could go wrong when pursuing our dreams.
A question that many of us stop and ask ourselves before taking a chance or making a big change in life is, A question that many of us stop and ask ourselves before taking a chance or making a big change in life is, “What if it all goes wrong?” We, humans, are hardwired to focus on the negative, and our worried minds consider all of the possible undesirable outcomes, weighing them against the positives.
Then, we find ourselves wondering if taking that new job, starting that new relationship, or chasing our dreams is actually worth the effort. Sure, all of these things could end up leaving us feeling hurt, jaded, frustrated, or disappointed. But, there’s no way to know for sure what will work out or help us truly flourish in life if we aren’t willing to try. What we really need to stop and ask ourselves is, “What if it all goes right?”
What if it all works out? What if your whole life could change in the most beautiful way imaginable because you were willing to go out on a limb and trust that even though you could fall, there’s a chance that you might fly?
My guest, Amy Scruggs, is not only an inspiring and multi-talented human being, but she is also a prime example of someone who has never given up on their dreams, despite how much time has passed or the struggles and obstacles that she faced. Amy has spent twenty years as a TV host, recording artist, public speaker, corporate spokesperson, and business executive, and credits each successful new endeavor in her life to the willingness to shift when hit with the unexpected and the courage to ask for what she wants in life without the fear of receiving a “no.”
Amy joins me today to share how her new song, "What If It All Goes Right," evolved, what it's all about, and why its message is something that the world really needs right now. She talks about how this dream EP project, which was 18 years in the making, was able to finally come to fruition with a team of world-class musicians in Nashville during the pandemic. Amy also discusses the importance of chasing your dreams and having the patience to keep pushing through, pursuing, and seeing where it takes you because it’s never too late to follow your passions.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Ellen McCarty to talk about transforming our lives and our relationships through unconditional self-love.
Earlier this week, many people celebrated Valentine's Day with a loved one. And while most people consider this special day of the year one based solely on romantic love, I like to think that Valentine's Day is also about the love of family, friends, and of ourselves as well. Love is a multifaceted concept that expands far beyond the feelings we may have for just a significant other, and it really is the magic of life.
Yet, almost all of us struggle with love to some degree. Some days we think it's our worst enemy, and other days it's our greatest blessing of all. Some of us don't feel worthy of love from ourselves or others, or we subconsciously sabotage our relationship with ourselves through negative self-talk, a lack of self-acceptance, and resistance to healing old wounds. So, what do we need in order for love to work, and what needs to be present for love to grow and expand into all it can be?
My guest today, Ellen McCarty, joins me to discuss the components of a great relationship, how we can make love last, and why being gentler with ourselves and practicing unconditional self-love can empower us, transform the way we live our lives, and also significantly impact the way we love and communicate with others. She explains how unconditional self-love helps us to remain grounded, live our best life, and make the world a better place.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Dr. Francis Palmer to talk about tapping into the fountain of youth and some natural approaches to anti-aging from the inside out.
Understanding how to age well and increasing the time that we spend in a healthy state while we're here on this planet is of the utmost importance. While our chronological age counts how many years we've been alive, it's our biological age that matters most to help determine the length of health span, or amount of time we will maintain good health as we continue to age. Longevity scientists say that significantly elongating life without sustaining well-being is pointless, and enhancing vitality as we age may be our most valuable health gain.
My guest today, Francis Palmer, MD, is a world-renowned, board-certified facial plastic surgeon and author of “What’s Your Number?” who for the last several years has been focused on educating and helping others fight the aging process from the inside out. More than three decades of his career have been dedicated to helping people look younger by altering outside appearances, but Dr. Palmer says there’s a more sustainable way to feel and look younger by reducing your biological age. And the best part? No surgery is required!
In this interview, we take a deep dive into the difference between chronological age and biological age, which number is more important, and what type of test we can take to determine our biological age. Dr. Palmer explains what causes cells to age faster and increase biological age prematurely, what role diet, exercise, and stress can play in all of this, and what CaAKG (calcium alpha-ketoglutarate) is and why our bodies need it. He also shares new cutting-edge research that shows how a particular supplement can help increase health span, postpone frailty, and decrease biological age by eight years in approximately seven months.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Kimberlee Marsh to discuss how astrology can guide us, give us hope, and lead us on the path to self-acceptance.
My guest today, Kimberlee Marsh, is an Astrologer, Life Coach, and Business Coach who has been giving personalized readings for over 20 years and helping others to live their life to their fullest potential. She joins me today to discuss how the power of astrology gives us the timing and windows in our lives to forge forward, make positive changes, stay hopeful and tuned in to ourselves, and know where it's best to put our energy.
She explains that even though there is chaos going on all around us, there is order to it, and it’s all a part of the bigger picture. Kimberlee shares that we are on our way to creating a bigger, better, more sustainable way of supporting humanity, but that with that comes plenty of discomforts as we bring to the surface all that needs to change in order to lay down the foundation for our future.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by a very special guest who just so happens to also be my nephew, Patrick Gutman. He is a classically trained composer and pianist who writes Film, Concert, Ambient and Meditative music. Patrick's music has been performed both in the states and in Europe, including Italy, France, and Switzerland.
With musical interests that include classical, film, rock, ambient, dance, and electronic music, Patrick often blends these sound worlds together to create genre-expanding music. As a pianist, Patrick has performed throughout Southern California as an accompanist, solo artist, and recording session player, and has won several piano competitions as well.
In this interview, we discuss Patrick's journey with music and when he first realized that it was something that lit him up and that he felt he was being called toward. Patrick talks about the power of music and how it can uplift the soul, heal us on an emotional, vibrational, energetic, and physical level, and help us access the fullness of who we are.
We also discuss the importance of learning to trust the flow of life, test the waters, and follow what truly lights us up rather than getting stuck on the details or held back by our self-doubts. Patrick shares how when we are able to let go, give ourselves the room to expand, and let the joy and the fun of following what lights us up guide us, we open ourselves to wonderful things that are far beyond what we could ever have imagined for ourselves.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about tuning in to what lights us up so that we can make 2022 an amazing year where our dreams come true. We are now a week into 2022, and it's undoubtedly a great time to set our sights on doing things differently than we ever have before. Or, perhaps taking a look at how we can tweak some of the things in our lives to make them better and even more effective.
There is so much opportunity amidst the fresh energy of a brand new year, but so often, we don't follow our bliss or step into what lights us up. We think we can't do what we truly want because it's not practical or it won't pay the bills. Even worse, we get so stuck on figuring out 'the how’ behind what we want, which only pushes us further and further off course from where we'd like to be.
The theme for our Fall season was Resiliency, and now as we move into a brand new year, I want to talk about our new theme: Light - being open to the light, enlightening ourselves, and lightening up. In this episode, I’m also going to talk about why New Year's resolutions can cause us to focus on failure more than success, and why a New Year Reset can be a much healthier and more positive approach to staying in alignment with our desires and making 2022 our best year yet!

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about how to end the year powerfully and productively, in a way that creates openness and clears the path for us to welcome positive energy and brand-new possibilities. It’s that magical time… the beginning of a New Year! This is a time that fills us all with the hope that new, bigger, better things are possible and that maybe this will be the year when our dreams really do come true. Before you start celebrating this New Year’s Eve, I want to share how you can take a little bit of time to consciously end this year and think about what you want to create in the new one.
I learned some incredible principles in a Conscious Completion seminar that I did with JJ Joshua earlier this month that I found very helpful, because consciously completing events, experiences, and periods of time in your life truly enables you to enter into the next space of time clean and clear and open to what it has to offer you.
Conscious completion keeps your energy from becoming stuck and closed, and it prevents you from missing the moment and being too focused on past hurts. It allows bitterness, resentment, and regret to dissolve and creates space for joy, love, and gratitude. And best of all, it’s so simple!
In this episode, I'm going to talk about two principles on which conscious completion is based, why it’s important to consciously complete this year (as well as any experience, relationship, day, etc.), and what simple processes you can do now to joyously thrive and end this year in the most positive way possible.
Remember, whatever amount of time you invest in these processes and principles will return great dividends. Get started today, don’t wait until "tomorrow." Your life is happening now, and now is the moment to start creating it the way you want it to be. After all, it’s a New Year, full of possibilities!

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Mikki Kristola joins me to talk about easy-to-make craft cocktails with an innovative and modern twist. I think most of us can appreciate the experience of sipping on a delicious cocktail. But making them ourselves... well, that just sounds like a lot of work! From trying to find a great recipe to recreate, to collecting all of the ingredients you need just to make a specific drink, the process can be a bit overwhelming.
The good news is, you don't need to be a mixologist or have access to a loaded bar to make delicious craft cocktails at home! There is no longer a need to purchase pricey bar equipment, run to the store for more drink mixers, or weigh and measure out a list of ingredients. The future of classic cocktails that you can make and take anywhere is here. Dry cocktails, that is!
My guest today, Mikki Kristola, is a bar industry veteran with 20+ years of experience under her belt, and the Founder and (human) magic behind New Fashioned. She joins me in this interview to share how New Fashioned Dry Cocktails takes real fruits and spices and transforms them into powdered, portable blends in single-serve packets, inspired by classic cocktail recipes such as the margarita and old-fashioned.

It’s that time of year again where there is lots of excitement in the air with all of the Fall and Winter holidays that have been recently celebrated and are fast approaching. While it’s a joyful time of year for many, it’s also a very difficult, demanding, and draining time for those who are dealing with the weight of a loss or any type of emotional pain.
Unfortunately, these individuals often feel alienated and maybe even defective, because everyone else around them looks so happy while they feel like they can barely get through the day. Furthermore, this is our second holiday season amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and a lot of people are also feeling incredibly burnt out, disappointed, frustrated, and distraught because of the changes and losses that they’ve experienced.
In this episode, I’m going to talk about why the holiday season, in particular, is such a tricky time for people who are hurting, the importance of nurturing ourselves and doing less or doing things differently when we’re feeling overwhelmed and emotionally exhausted, and five steps for having successful, comforting, and supportive conversations with those who are hurting during this holiday season.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Kimberlee Centera joins me to talk about embracing vulnerability and having the resilience to transform challenges into remarkable opportunities for growth and healing. Resiliency plays a crucial role on the road back from any obstacle or difficult situation in our lives. It's that part of us that says, "I won't be defeated by this. I will not give up," regardless of what is thrown our way. Though disappointment and loss are an inevitable part of life, how we choose to show up and deal with these things determines whether we remain stuck as a victim or are able to move forward and thrive. That spirit of resiliency is within us all, and when we can tap into our courage in the face of crisis, anything is possible.
My guest today, Kimberlee Centera, is a pioneer and innovator in the renewable energy industry. She is one of the only female CEOs of a utility-scale renewable energy consulting practice, and she uses her knowledge and experience to encourage and mentor women from around the world. As a risk management expert for the development and financing of large-scale generator energy projects, leading industry stakeholders rely on her to ensure the smooth closing of transactions on complex high-value projects.
Kimberlee joins me to share how she began working in the renewable energy industry, becoming one of the first women in the field, and how her dedication to her values proved to be the key to her success. She talks about how her resilience has helped her persevere through every roadblock she has faced, and why vulnerability and the ability to let go of what we can't control is the key to overcoming adversity and achieving all that we set out to accomplish in life.

Nancy is the CEO of Mainly Mozart, whose famed festival boasts top-level players from the world’s greatest orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, and dozens more.
For over 30 years, the Mainly Mozart All-Star Orchestra has been home to the largest gathering of Concertmasters and Principal Players in the United States, but when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and quarantine protocols were put in place, they quickly had to learn how to adapt to all of these new changes.
Nancy shares how rather than taking a hiatus when all of the orchestras in the world were sitting quiet, Mainly Mozart found a way to keep the music alive and get these sidelined artists back on stage, and they made history as the first arts organization to perform live classical music in front of live audiences since quarantine began.

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Eric DeVine joins me to talk about embracing failure, building resilience, and achieving any goal we set out to accomplish. Coming from a tough financial background growing up, Eric's first entrepreneurial attempt was just to help his mom pay the bills. At age 9, he began looking for ways that he could contribute to the monthly expenses, and he went on to start several businesses as a teenager.
By the time Eric was 23, he and his brother, Greg, were buying their first property, and they eventually jumped into real estate investing full-time, building a tremendous real estate portfolio together. Today, the DeVine brothers are focused on teaching financial literacy and encouraging entrepreneurs to reach their goals. They do this through online coaching and their YouTube Channel: The DeVine Way TV, which was an idea that came to life during the pandemic.
Today, Eric joins me to discuss the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, the importance of embracing our failures, having a positive mindset, and developing resilience, and why mental maintenance is vital to anything we want to achieve in life.

Today we’re talking about women in business and the latest state-of-the-art podcast platform. If you're a podcaster, then you know just how challenging it can be to build an engaged listenership, accurately track audience data and insights, find sponsorships, and make a profit from podcasting. The reality is that 85% of podcasters don't make any money from their podcast, and 95% don't land a single advertising or sponsorship opportunity.
My powerhouse of a guest, Melinda Wittstock, is here to change that. When growing her own podcast, she was deeply inspired to change the game for podcasting. So, she set out on a mission to do just that... and that's when Podopolo was born!
Podopolo™ is the world's first socially interactive and gamified podcast app and network created to share revenue with podcasters, provide them with audience insights, and match them with targeted podcast network advertising, sponsorship, and premium opportunities to make money and grow their show much faster. Their mission is all about enlightening and empowering people, one podcast at a time while putting profit and power into the hands of independent content creators so they can be paid what they deserve.
My daughter, Erin Shaw, also joins me for our weekly segment of Rut Busters. While we normally use this segment to share new challenges each week that can help you get your creativity and energy flowing, today, Erin takes this time to initiate a very important conversation about police violence in America, touching on topics of victim-blaming, police accountability, and the mental health of police officers.

Today we’re talking about gut health: what it is, why it's important, and how we can transform our health and wellness from the inside out. It's likely that you've heard the terms "gut health" and maybe even "leaky gut" referenced before, but are you aware of just how important the gut is? The gut, or gastrointestinal tract, plays a crucial role in our overall health and well-being, impacting everything from our sleep, mood, weight, digestion, stress levels, inflammation, chronic illness, brain health, and immune function.
It moves the food that we consume from our mouths to our stomachs, converts this food into absorbable nutrients and stored energy, clears waste from our bodies, and communicates with our brains through hormones and nerves to maintain our health and well-being. It is extremely important that we do what we can to keep our gut health in check in order to live happy and healthy lives.
Today, I’m joined by Naturopathic Oncologist and owner of Spark Health, Dr. Aliza Cicerone, who works with patients with a variety of health concerns, including thyroid abnormalities, hormone therapy, digestive disorders, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. She joins me to discuss why the gut is so important and how we can stay healthy and keep our immune systems strong by properly monitoring and caring for our gut health.
My daughter, Erin Shaw, also joins me today for our fourth week of Rut Busters, a brand new segment on Change It Up Radio. If you missed our first, second, or third week of Rut Busters, please be sure to check them out as well for some fun challenges that can help you get your creativity and energy flowing! Today, Erin shares a simple challenge for shaking things up a bit and stimulating our senses by listening to some music we've never heard before!

Join Paula Shaw as she talks about how to improve your skills for talking to people in pain and shares how to navigate your way through those "tough talks" so that you can feel more confident and competent when having them. What do you say to someone who has just experienced a loss or some other type of traumatic event in their life? Most of us want to do what we can to comfort and support this person, but we may feel inept, uncomfortable, and apprehensive because we don’t know what to say or how to show up for them. After all, how can you ever find the right words to comfort someone who has just lost a loved one, lost their job, received an upsetting health diagnosis, or is going through a painful and messy divorce?
The truth is, there are no perfect words that you can say to make this person feel better. But, one of the worst things you can do is say something dismissive and insensitive or avoid having a tough talk altogether, because this leaves the person who is in pain feeling judged, misunderstood, and alone. And while none of us set out to make our loved ones feel this way, we sometimes do so unconsciously because we just don’t know what to say.
So, how can we create a sympathetic, reassuring, and supportive environment for this individual to feel safe enough to express their pain, process their feelings, and begin to heal? In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Paula Shaw explores the do’s and don’ts of compassionate behavior, things that are helpful to say and not helpful to say to someone that’s in pain, and the five steps of having a successful, tough talk.

There’s way too much grief in the world right now, and there is not a single person on this planet who hasn’t suffered some type of loss over the course of this past year.
We’ve got people who are grieving senseless deaths from violent events that have recently taken place in the U.S., we’ve got people who have lost their jobs and businesses and have gone severely into debt, we’ve got families who don’t have any food or have lost their home, and many of us have lost loved ones as a result of this pandemic.
All of these things have created significant loss, and loss ultimately creates grief. All loss creates pain because we get emotionally attached to people, animals, places, patterns, and even things. When loss occurs, change occurs, and we humans have a hard time navigating the discomfort and pain that new circumstances bring.
In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Paula discusses Grief In The Time of COVID- 19 and talks about some of the myths of grief, for instance, “Time heals all wounds.” She also takes a look at why we all grieve in our own unique way.
Then, Paula debunks the 5 stages of grief and discusses what is really true… grief has dimensions that almost all of us experience. She explores these dimensions and then shares tools and processes that you can actually use to help move you through your pain, such as breath techniques, conscious completion, gratitude, and most importantly, service to others.
Don’t miss this show as Grief Expert Paula Shaw walks you through the journey of grief and offers guidance and effective tools and insight to enable you to reap the growth and life appreciation from one of life’s most painful experiences.

Today we're talking about the power of incorporating storytelling in both our business and personal life.
When we think of storytelling we might think about a good book or a movie that we’ve enjoyed, but sharing stories isn’t just about entertainment. Think about it, what connects you to other people? When you meet someone new and really hit it off, or when you listen to someone speak on stage and are completely drawn to them, what is it that’s pulling you in and making you want to learn more about them or what they have to say?
Oftentimes, this connection is built through storytelling. When a person opens up and shares something with you about an experience they’ve had and it touches your heart, this ignites a spark that connects you to them on a level that is beyond intellect.
Today, I’m joined by Dave Franco, who is a master storyteller and writer of more than 25 years, having started out as an advertising copywriter in New York City, and later transitioned to a feature stories writer, ghostwriter, and speaker/consultant on the topic of how to make the power of story impact your business.
He joins me to discuss the power of storytelling, and how we can incorporate storytelling into our branding and business marketing to be more memorable and create deep and impactful connections with others. Dave also shares how we can capture our story and bring it to life in a way that highlights the virtues and moments that we may wish to preserve and pass down through the generations.
My daughter, Erin Shaw, also joins me today for our third week of Rut Busters, a brand new segment on Change It Up Radio. If you missed our first and/or second week of this segment, please be sure to check them out as well for some fun challenges that can help you get your creativity and energy flowing! Today, Erin shares a simple challenge for reconnecting and nurturing a relationship that matters to you in the age of social distancing.

Today we’re talking about the grief that we face when having to say goodbye to the unconditional love of a pet. If you’re an animal lover, you know that rarely do our beloved pets live as long we do. And at some point, we may come face to face with the tough decision of when to let them go and free them of their pain and suffering. Our pets are a special part of our family and such a big part of our lives, which makes this one of the most difficult and painful experiences that we can go through.
Those decisions that we end up having to make at the end of an animal's life are grueling, and it's never easy to say goodbye. But, having just recently lost our dear dog, Wikky, I can wholeheartedly say that to have those final moments be spent at home and with family by his side made this time as beautiful as a painful experience could possibly be.
Today, I’m joined by Elizbeth Allen, who is an author, poet, animal lover, educator on end-of-life care for animals and their people, a vibrational cellular therapist specializing in grief relief, and a licensed spiritual counselor. She joins me today to discuss end-of-life planning for our animal companions, the advantages of choosing in-home euthanasia, and the grieving process that comes with losing a pet.
My daughter, Erin Shaw, also joins me today for the release of our brand new segment on Change It Up Radio called Rut Busters! She will join us each week to share unique challenges to help us bust our winter COVID ruts and get our creativity and energy flowing just in time for spring! Today, Erin shares a simple but powerful challenge for a new way to change it up and shift from autopilot to being more present.

Valentine’s Day is a day that is charged with potential for romance or disaster. Men mostly hate it because they can never seem to get it right. I know in my own life, the best V-Day I ever had was the one in which I told my husband exactly what I wanted, where I wanted to dine, and what I wanted to feel. The truth is that men usually want to make their Valentines happy, but they are often at a loss as to the magic formula to make that happen.

Most people are far better at criticizing themselves than they are at loving themselves. Joy and Paula talk about some mindsets and actions that one can take to become more self-loving. Have you ever found yourself baffled by your behaviors? Have you ever opened your mouth and found yourself saying the very thing your mother always said that you hated hearing her say? Why do we do things we don’t really want to be doing? Why is it so hard to change certain things about who we are and what we do?
In this week’s episode, Paula talks with Dr. Kulvinder Kaur, Genetic Researcher, about the genetic component of our behaviors and responses to life.
Dr. Kaur was instrumental in teaching Paula about the Epigenetics that influence and shape the ways that we respond to life. This understanding led Paula to creating Genetic Soul Release, an energy psychology-based technique that helps one eradicate those troubling behaviors.
Paula explains how our thoughts, behaviors, and emotional patterns most often have their origin in one or all of the following:
Dr. Kaur explains the science behind this and helps us understand how it evolves and how we can change it.
Genetic Soul Release, a NEW process that Paula has developed for the purpose of changing those problematic responses, integrates this genetic information into the technique so that “every corner is scoured.” So far, it is having dramatic results and Paula is very excited about finding this key component, that may have been the missing piece in the work, limiting results until now.

Times are challenging for Americans right now. Many of us are wondering if Peace is Possible. We are seeing behavior among our fellow Americans like nothing we have ever seen before. Americans have stormed their own capital in an attempted coup. What is happening? What should we do? How can we help to calm the storm? How can we best take care of ourselves?
In this week’s show, Paula poses these questions to Brahman Kyrie, a spiritual teacher and master healer in Encinitas, California. Brahman Kyrie is also the founder of the Brahman Project, a humanitarian foundation whose purpose is spiritual education, sacred ceremony, meditation, healing, prison rehabilitation programs, and support for animals.
In this episode, Paula explores the problem with focusing on hate and violence, being that this focus becomes a magnet, attracting more of the same. She also talks about the paths followed by Mother Teresa and Gandhi. Both of these amazing beings urged their followers to focus on positive conditions rather than the negative. Mother Teresa is quoted as having said, “if you hold an anti-war rally, I shall not attend. But if you hold a pro-peace rally, invite me.”
Gandhi said, “If you want to change the world, start with yourself.” The point being that even in the confusion of present-day events, our course of action can remain simple and clear…heal yourself. Focus on healing yourself and being the most positive, high vibration being you can be. That vibration will impact the collective consciousness, and in turn, change the world for the better.
In their discussion, Brahman Kyrie and Paula talk about acceptance, forgiveness, and peace, and ways to take your focus off of what you fear and put it somewhere productive. Brahman Kyrie shares some great practices and tools to enable you to do this easily and naturally.
You don’t want to miss this episode of Change It Up Radio. In these turbulent times, we all need an anchor. Paula and Brahman Kyrie offer some very effective options in this show.

Join Paula for the first show of 2021 as she shares some of the changes Change It Up Radio is implementing.
First of all, she will be doing the first and last shows of the month solo to enable her to bring to her listeners tools and techniques that she uses with her private clients to change, release, and shift problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Secondly, she introduces Paula’s Preferred Professionals which will be launching this quarter. For a crazy small sponsorship fee, these businesses which Paula has personally vetted, will be shouted out each week. They will also be listed on the PPP page on ChangeItUpRadio.com and PaulaShaw.com, as well as on KCBQ’s website, on Paula’s page.
In addition, these businesses will be offered an unheard-of low price to have a professionally-produced commercial created, that will air each week, and which they will own. Since all shows are podcasted, this advertising becomes evergreen. If you are thinking that this sounds like the perfect opportunity for your business or the business of a friend or family member, reach out to Paula today!
Another truly exciting component of this show is that Paula will be introducing the latest Energy Psychology Process that she has created, called Genetic Soul Release. This process helps a person to finally shift and release the energy/behavioral blocks from all of the energetic nooks and crannies, including the Genetics, that are holding them back from creating the life and success that they want. It is a very exciting process that has evolved out of Paula’s 28 years of work and out of a synthesis of the many Energy Psychology processes in which she has been trained.
Finally, this content-loaded, life-changing show concludes with the discussion of Conscious Completion, a process Paula learned from JJ Joshua, Spiritual Coach. This process enables one to complete segments of one’s life so that there is space for, and openness to, experiencing whatever is to come next. This isn’t possible if one’s thoughts or emotions are stuck in past events. This process is a must for completing 2020 and for doing the same with each day.
Don’t miss this show and all that Paula offers in this inaugural episode of 2021!

Join Paula for this special holiday show where she interviews her Dad, Jack Gutman, two days before his 95th birthday!
Jack was born in 1925, back when the world was a very different place. People were lucky if they were making $50 a week, and 10 cents could buy way more than it does today. In his 95 years, Jack has seen a lot of things, including the current pandemic, the likes of which hasn't been seen since 1918.
As one of nine children, Jack survived the poverty of growing up in New York City. He went on to participate in the Normandy Invasion... D-Day, the Invasion of Okinawa, and then endured 66 years of PTSD before getting help from the VA. He received 3 years of therapy with Dylan Bender, which enabled him to get his life back and get free from self-destructive, addictive behaviors.
Today, Jack is free of flashbacks, fear, and failure. Living from his current state of gratitude, he has one goal... to encourage anyone suffering from PTSD to get help.
Too tough to be stopped, and no stranger to miracles, Jack suffered a stroke on October 28 of this year, which left him unable to speak. Fortunately, he was taken to the hospital in time to receive a drug known as the clot-buster, and within an hour, normal speech returned.
Yes, he seems to have much in common with a cat who has 9 lives! Jack’s mission today is to touch lives and help others to find peace and joy. He does this through public speaking, comedy, and through his book, One Veteran's Journey to Heal the Wounds of War, available on Amazon.

Join Paula as she addresses the fact that we are a world of holiday grievers this year. We have all suffered the loss of the ability to celebrate the holidays in our usual traditional ways. The COVID-19 Pandemic has made holiday grievers of us all.
This year there will be no holiday parties, holiday shows, caroling, large family gatherings, or large holiday dinners. The hustle and bustle of shopping is gone as well because we have a “Stay at Home” order and can’t go to the malls to garner those special holiday gifts. Loss is everywhere.
Paula discusses how any loss, no matter what the source, usually begins with shock and upheaval producing a very emotional response. This often leads to fear, confusion, anger, lack of focus, sadness, and even depression. She also reminds us that all of this emotionality is exhausting and overwhelming.
Paula goes on to expand on 5 things you can do to take good care of yourself during this holiday season, and encourages everyone to be creative, break out of the mold, and make the holidays a loving, joyful, celebratory time for you and your loved ones. We are always at choice, so choose to make your holidays warm and wonderful.

Today we're talking about the mind-killing potential of fear and how we can overcome it so that it no longer runs our life.
Any individual that's experienced fear knows how it can destroy our focus and our ability to think rationally. It has a way of latching onto our minds and our emotions, consuming all of our thoughts, steering us into a particular direction, and even stopping us dead in our tracks at times.
The truth is, fear is not just something that happens in our minds. It can become very physical and very debilitating, and the more we focus on it and feed energy to it, the more it can grow. The last few weeks of my life have created some situations in which I have really known fear firsthand and have experienced its "mind-killing" potential.
From a sudden rat infestation that forced me out of my home to my father having a stroke, my life was in total upheaval and my fear only continued to grow. Thankfully, a dear friend of mine helped me process and move through some of my fearful thoughts in order to shift the situation into a much more positive place. If you are currently experiencing fear in any area of your life, you first need to let go of any shame around it.
If you're feeling stuck or if you're hearing too many negative opinions from those around you, stop listening to those things and remember that your reality has nothing to do with what's happened to other people. You can create it to be the way you want it to be. When we face fear, take action, and move toward it and through it, we can get to the other side of it and take our power back.
Today I’m joined by Jennavieve "JJ" Joshua, an intuitive life coach who combines her real-world experience and rare visioning ability to provide clients with extraordinary insight and practical wisdom. She joins me to share how we can unlock our hidden potential, move from self-sabotage and self-doubt to empowerment, and create greater happiness and a more meaningful and inspired life.

Today we're talking about healing the painful wounds of war and breaking free from the suffering of post-traumatic stress.
For many people, when they hear the term "Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder," or "PTSD," their minds tend to gravitate toward the image of traumatized soldiers returning home from war after witnessing their comrades being seriously injured and killed. But, PTSD not only impacts the lives of our brave veterans; it can also affect any individual that has witnessed or experienced a traumatic event at some point in their life.
A traumatic event can range from a serious car accident or painful breakup to the terrors of a natural disaster or emotionally devastating childhood trauma. The pain from our past can extend beyond the initial moment or time period of that trauma and follow us around throughout the course of our lives, potentially damaging our relationships and disrupting all of our attempts at living a joyful life.
Unfortunately, many people that suffer from PTSD remain silent about their struggle, which can lead to debilitating anxiety, depression, insomnia, addiction, anger, shame, and self-isolation. While healing the pain and traumas of our past can be extremely difficult, as this requires courage and vulnerability to ask for help, it is possible.
Today I’m joined by my Dad and World War II Veteran, Jack Gutman, who at the age of 18 participated in the Normandy Invasion. He shares his painful recollection of what it was like to prepare, participate, and survive one of the most grueling days in human history, discusses his journey of healing the wounds of war after a 66 year-long struggle with PTSD, and also shares his experience with post-traumatic stress after miraculously surviving a recent stroke.

One of the biggest stressors for Americans today is the upcoming election. People are filled with fear about how to make their vote count, the possibility of long lines at the polls, and voter tampering, among many other fears.

In this show, we get those answers from Ruth Weiss who is Vice President, Director of Legislative Oversight, and Director of Education and Training for the Election Integrity Project. Join Grief Expert Paula Shaw as she explores the grief that is being experienced worldwide as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whether you’ve lost your job, your relationship, your normal routine, a loved one to the virus, or faith that your government will keep you safe, everyone on the planet has been touched by this virus. We are herding mammals who can no longer herd, and this has undoubtedly created high levels of pain and discomfort for all of us.
Paula discusses how loss leads to change, change leads to discomfort, and discomfort manifests as the many faces of grief. Grief can look like sadness and overwhelm. It can look like anger, despair, or defeat. It can show itself as the agitation of anxiety or cause someone to be frozen in fear. Each person experiences grief in their own unique way.
Paula also blows the lid off of the myth that there are 5 stages of grief and explains how they are really the 5 stages of death and dying, which can be very different than grief. Paula believes that rather, there are 7 dimensions or phases that many people go through but not necessarily everyone.
After identifying the problem, Paula will take you through what to do to heal your grief and get back to living your life in the way that you were meant to. We have all been through eight months of living an altered lifestyle due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools are still struggling to figure out how to teach online. Businesses have been closed or dramatically altered, in order to stay alive.
Medical appointments happen online or in very carefully monitored settings. Shopping is nothing like it once was. Masks are required almost everywhere we go, and no one is given service if the mask requirement isn’t honored.
What in our lives hasn’t been changed or affected by this pandemic? People are so confused and there is so much misinformation being disseminated.
On this show, we get some straight answers from Science. I am talking to Bob Hertz, Director of Psy-Tek Laboratories in Encinitas California. In our discussion, we talk about what we really know about the virus, how it’s transmitted, what it means to be A-symptomatic, how we can best protect ourselves, and how we can get accurate testing.

Join Paula as she riffs about Reflections From Her Seventies. This is a bit humorous as she has only been in her 70’s for 3 weeks! However, she has some strong viewpoints she wants to share about aging, love, COVID-19, and the earth.
All her life, Paula has noticed that when people get older, they seem less concerned about appearances and more concerned with truth and authenticity. They tend to speak their minds without concern for what is PC!
Paula shares some of her secrets and products for staying youthful in spite of her 70 years of going around the sun.
She looks at love and the complicated relationships it can create, and then she talks about how inadequate we will always be at loving relationships until we become really skilled at loving ourselves.
Moving on to COVID-19, Paula looks at some of the gifts of the pandemic and then expresses her strong feelings about masks and the reasons for them.
She wraps it all up with a discussion of global warming, the crisis that exists on the planet, and the need for big commitments and decisive action right now!

Join Paula as she talks with the incredible Amikaeyla Gaston. Proclaimed as one of the “purest contemporary voices” by National Public Radio (NPR), Amikaeyla is a force for change.
A Cultural Arts Ambassador for the State Department, as well as a highly sought-after performer and public speaker, she travels worldwide doing expansive work with political refugees, war survivors, and jeopardized populations “opening paralyzed voices and transforming wounded spirits...” says Laura R., President of the Institute of Noetic Sciences.
She unlocked her self-expression and healing ability in an intensive care burn unit after a near-fatal hate crime. Lying in excruciating pain and anguish after being told her legs would have to be amputated and she would never walk again, she discovered she could not only overcome fear, but also become fearless through the healing power of music.

Join Paula as she interviews creative Entrepreneur, Brett Hummel, the founder of ProMazo and The 100k Mentor Challenge. She will also be talking to Elizabeth Erwin, a student in this much-needed program that serves college students all over the country.
ProMazo started as a student club because Brett noticed that many college students did not have a clear idea of their career choices. He recognized that the best way for students to gain experience and career knowledge was to participate in work experiences prior to graduation.
Brett realized that with work moving more and more to a virtual scenario, (he had no idea how virtual it would become due to the virus!), there was an opportunity to connect the top 5% of people attending university, who had the latest skills and training, with companies who needed those skills, enabling corporate teams to work side by side on a remote basis. And with that, ProMazo was born.
In the wake of the coronavirus, on-campus events were canceled and many internships and job offers were rescinded. These cuts hit students from underrepresented backgrounds especially hard because they rely on these opportunities to build their networks and secure their first jobs since they often do not have personal or family connections to fall back on.
Together in partnership with college students from over a dozen universities, launched the 100k Mentor Challenge movement to connect college students from underrepresented backgrounds with mentors.
The goal of the 100K Mentors Challenge is to connect 100,000 students from underrepresented backgrounds with 100,000 mentors in the businesses that the students aspire to, by the end of the 2021 academic year to help them overcome the loss of on-campus recruiting, professional networks, and internships/full-time jobs.
Join the movement. Be a force for positive social change. Create new pipelines of opportunity. Be the company that translates words into action by signing the Pledge and committing to supporting underrepresented college students. We urge companies to join the movement to help make sure students are not left behind!

Join Paula as she interviews a courageous, compassionate man. Most people let a terminal cancer diagnosis defeat them but this man turned it into a catalyst to turn his life upside down and become the man he was meant to be.
Cort Davies was diagnosed with Malignant Paraganglioma in November of 2017. He was given just three years to live. Instead of folding under the intense stress of having late-stage cancer, Cort set out on a mission to save his own life.
After 9 surgeries, having half of his bladder removed, and almost being paralyzed, Cort realized his biggest challenge was actually his greatest opportunity. He also realized that chronic stress was a major deterrent in healing for millions of sick people, including himself. Cort went on a mission to find effective ways of dealing with stress. What he found is saving his life, and his doctors can't believe that he can do what he does at this point.
He has recently brought light to this topic of stress and cancer in a Ted X Talk, and launched a book called “1 Habit To Beat Cancer.” Cort is also in the midst of launching a podcast and producing a multi-part documentary to try to impact millions of people around the world by giving them the necessary tools to help them manage stress on their journey to healing.
Don’t miss this show as Cort talks with Paula about the ups and downs of this journey and what life is like for him today. His three years will be up this November, but Cort is paddle-boarding and bicycling every day with no terrible pain and no plans to slow down. Want to find out how to beat cancer? Join Paula as she spontaneously riffs after finding out only an hour before showtime that her guest's hometown was hit by a tornado, so he had no power and was unable to jump online to record with her. Can’t argue with acts of God, so sometimes you just have to improvise!
Paula talks about how to handle the upheaval of unexpected change, stress, and the damage it can do to the body and psyche. Then, she gets into what to do to effectively manage your stress so it doesn’t end up managing you and causing physical illness or psychological/emotional problems. Paula also discusses the 3 kinds of stress and shares processes and techniques for dealing with them.
In her work as a Life Transition Coach, Paula uses the tools of Energy Psychology to help people overcome fear, depression, anger, anxiety, and the myriad of other expressions that come with the upheaval of unexpected change.
These tools bypass the conscious mind which is often rendered useless when emotions overwhelm us. They work directly with the subconscious mind to shift problematic thinking, feelings, and behaviors that can result. Through these methods, it is possible for the client to feel a sense of power and control in their life, in a very short time.
If you are experiencing issues that feel overwhelming and you think that you might need help to overcome them, Paula offers a complimentary 20-minute consult that you can book on her website www.PaulaShaw.com.

Join Paula as she interviews her daughter, Erin Shaw, author of Have Baggage Will Travel. Erin’s fictional novel is delightfully engaging with great characters and a storyline that winds its way through the South with all the color, flavors, and fragrances that part of the country is so well known for.
The story follows a young woman, Kate Larabee, a leading travel expert on assignment, as she travels through the South, needing new sights and experiences to soothe the hurts and wounds of a recent break-up that replaced the proposal she was expecting. The story is loosely based on Erin’s own experiences traveling through the South after a romantic break-up.
She says that it is really a story of self-discovery and of learning to step into one’s personal power, which too often, only happens when life throws us an unexpected curve-ball and we have no other choice. Many of us have been dragged kicking and screaming into what ended up being a definite up-leveling of our lives.
Erin recently completed a screenplay of her first novel, Party Girl, A Modern Fairy Tale, and is currently shopping it around to movie production companies. She and her writing partner, Kaitlyn McQuin, will begin working on the screenplay of Have Baggage Will Travel very soon.
Erin is also a professional singer and performs with That Vibe. Don’t miss this show as Paula and Erin have a laugh-filled, lively chat about life, love, and what to do when you don’t know what to do.

Join Paula Shaw to talk about Business Grief, which she will be discussing with Anthony McIntosh, President and Founder of SSE Advisors LLC, a business advisory and consulting firm.
Paula and Anthony discuss how the dimensions of grief are impacting business today, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It's tricky times for many businesses, and even those that are surviving are dealing with the loss of the way it used to be. No one knows for sure what the future holds, and for many businesses, this could spell disaster.
One of the most challenging parts of grief is longing for what we had, "how it used to be," and "the reality we once knew." How often these days do you hear people say, "I just want life to get back to normal"?
We want the comfort of the familiar. We want what most of us have known all of our lives. Handshakes, crowded parties, bars, the buzz of many people chatting in a restaurant, seeing a movie we are excited about on a big screen in a theater, and gathering in our places of worship with others.
We are all grieving, and businesses aren't exempt from this reality. Let's step back a minute and talk about GRIEF. Grief is a huge compendium of emotions that can occur when loss has taken place.
The very topic of this show, CHANGE, is a source of grief. For change to occur, loss must also occur. If something new is coming, something old has to get out of the way… that equals loss. And with loss comes pain. Something comfortable and familiar is gone, and the discomfort of the new unknown equals pain.
This pandemic has created loss on many levels… School has changed, shopping has changed, grocery stores have changed, restaurants have changed. Coffee shops and bars and other gathering places have changed. There is a lot of loss out there.
My guest today, Anthony McIntosh, is a business expert, and we will be talking about the grief being experienced in the business community. We will be discussing many dimensions of business grief.
WE ARE ALL GRIEVERS AT THIS TIME, AND WE HAVE ALL LOST OUR LIVES AS WE KNEW THEM. WE HAVE HAD TO GET QUIET AND STILL AND REALLY LOOK AT A LOT OF THINGS THAT WE WERE AVOIDING BEFORE.

When our lives aren't working the way we want them to, so often we start looking around our outer world for who or what to blame. We try to find the person or circumstance that is causing the turmoil, pain, or lack that we are experiencing.
In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Paula Shaw and guest, Dr. Steve Taubman, discuss the real solution to all of life's problems... going within and changing the way our mind is working.
What is out-picturing in our lives is always a result of the inner picture and beliefs that we are holding. The problem is that usually, those problematic beliefs are subconscious, which means that on a conscious level, we have no idea that we are holding them.
In this riveting discussion, Paula and Steve reveal some important truths about how we can discover the blocks and change the workings of our minds so that we can consciously create what we want in our lives instead of what we don’t want.

Join Paula Shaw and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Mary Sise, in a discussion about the panic and fear aroused by the pandemic, and learn a tool that can work right now to calm your mind and body. Paula and Mary will be using Meridian Tapping to shift the mind's perception of a situation and cause a physiological, mental, and emotional change. Meridian tapping began many years ago with the original work of Roger Callahan in the creation of TFT (Thought Field Therapy). This complex method consisted of tapping different sequences of meridian points for different issues. Later, engineer, Gary Craig, came along and simplified the method and called it EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). Craig’s method used tapping the same points for all issues. This wildly successful method is now practiced worldwide and has many clinical studies proving its efficacy. Today, Nick Ortner has grown the practice of tapping even more through the Tapping Solution. You can learn more about Mary Sise or join her Tapping Tuesdays by going to https://www.MarySise.com/. Her book, Tapping the Panic Out of Pandemic, is available on Amazon. In 2014, the Center for Disease Control reported that as many as 10,000 toddlers were receiving psychostimulant medication like Ritalin. Some six years later, the numbers are even higher. Is normal behavior too often being labeled as disturbed or disordered because it meets DSM criteria?
Data shows that in 2019, 6,726,189 children and adolescents were prescribed psychotropic drugs, ranging from antidepressants, antipsychotics, anti-anxiety drugs, mood stabilizers, and ADHD medications. In addition, an increasing number of children and young adults with behavioral or emotional disorders are frequently treated with a cocktail of drugs simultaneously.
Although there is limited information on the safety and efficacy of treating children with one or more psychotropic medication, they are commonly prescribed hastily and without the proper time and evaluation needed to make an appropriate diagnosis.
Usage of these medications has continued to increase over the past few decades, yet the risk of adverse side effects and potentially detrimental reactions can be rather unpredictable. Some side effects are often misdiagnosed as symptoms of another issue or illness, which then calls for additional medication that may, in turn, further exacerbate how the child or young adult is already feeling.
While medication that's adequately prescribed to a patient can improve their quality of life, we have to remain mindful of the impact that psychotropic drugs can have on a young child or adolescent's developing brain and their overall well-being now and into their future.
In today’s interview, I talk with a young woman we will call "Erin," who was prescribed 4 medications after one 45-minute psychiatric appointment. The number grew to 9 medications by the age of 29. Due to the medications, she gained 96 pounds and suffered from frequent seizures and daily hallucinations.
Erin was depressed, hopeless, and had no friends or social life. The only answer seemed to be suicide. She decided to take her own life on her 30th birthday. Please listen to her story and to the miracle that saved her because her story may save the life of a child you know!

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about creating change in our lives and in the world through conscious commitment.
There are some amazing things that have been accomplished in the world, and they all began with conscious commitment. Close your eyes and think about something that you have created or accomplished in your life. Was there a commitment to that creation?
Were there moments along the way where you felt completely defeated and thought that it was too hard to go on? If you chose to keep moving forward, it was because of that commitment to yourself and what drove you to start in the first place.
Today’s guest, Brady Silverwood, is a 24-year-old from San Diego that recently ran 3,311 miles across the United States and raised over $40,000 for charity while doing so.
He joins me today to share how his cross-country journey--while the hardest mental and physical challenge of his life--became the ultimate healing experience for him and what he learned along the way.
We Discuss: * How all great accomplishments inevitably begin with a high level of conscious commitment * Why Brady Silverwood set a conscious commitment to run across the United States * Doing the inner work within ourselves in order to create greatness outside of ourselves * Showing up for ourselves, especially on the hardest days when we\'re lacking motivation * How obstacles and change help us progress, grow, and move forward in a greater way

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about starting our journey through 2020 and how to kick this new year off in the best way possible.
I think it's important that we take a moment to acknowledge the significance of being at the beginning of a new year in a brand new decade. We have a shot at creating like we've never created before and flourishing exponentially.
We can take all of the tools, lessons, and experiences from the years that came before this one and apply that wisdom toward what we want in a more focused, precise, and intentional way.
2019 may not have been your year. Maybe you had hoped to accomplish more of your goals or focus more energy on working on yourself. Well, it's time to shift gears!
Rather than looking back and dwelling on the past and the could-have-beens, start looking forward at what's to come. After all, 2020 has only just begun!
We Discuss: * Being present in the moment and applying our prior knowledge and experience * Trading in New Year's resolutions for a reset in order to create real results that last * Saying the right thing when you don’t know what to say, even in those difficult conversations * Improving our communication skills and learning how to connect more with those around us * The 5 steps of successful, effective, comforting communication that connects rather than divides

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about improving our communication and learning how to say the right thing when we don't know what to say, even in those difficult conversations.
We have entered into a new year (hello 2020!), and we all want things to be better. We want to work on ourselves, set new goals, and do the things we committed to do in order to improve our lives. So, why not also take the time to focus on improving our communication and get better at connecting with each other? No matter what the conversation is about, successful communication is critical in all areas of life
Communication has a huge impact on whether or not things are going smoothly at work, in our homes, in our relationships, and in our overall lives. When we don't feel competent or skilled at knowing how to speak or what to say in different situations, we end up not showing up for others or expressing ourselves the way we really need to. Good communication plays a major role in creating a great life.
Today, I'm discussing communication - when it works, when it doesn't, and what we can do to improve it. I'll be sharing tips for connecting and communicating better with those around you, tools for navigating difficult conversations, and the five steps of successful and effective communication.
We Discuss: * Saying the right thing when you don't know what to say, even in those difficult conversations * Improving our communication skills and learning how to connect more with those around us * Why everyone has difficulty with conversations that deal with an individual's emotional pain * Learning how to effectively process our emotions and be there for those who need our support * Consciously stepping out of judgment and shifting into our compassion and our humanity * The 4 basic communication styles and why it's important to tune into the styles of other people * 3 major areas that influence the way we communicate and connect with those around us * The 5 steps of successful, effective, comforting communication that connects rather than divides

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about the fight to end human trafficking and technology-enabled abuse.
Sex trafficking is a crime where individuals (especially women) are forcefully involved in commercial sex acts. Supply and demand have increased exponentially over the years, due in large part to the internet.
Today, many traffickers utilize social media to lure and manipulate victims and market minors and trafficked victims for the purpose of prostitution and sexual exploitation. Abuse has gone digital, and technology is increasingly used to commit acts of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, elder abuse, and human trafficking.
Summer Stephan, San Diego County's District Attorney, has devoted her life to protecting children and families and providing justice to the voiceless and most vulnerable. She joins me today to discuss who is pulling the strings behind human trafficking, how they're reaching and trapping individuals into sexual exploitation, and how we can keep ourselves and our loved ones safe in the fight against human trafficking.
Adam Dodge, Founder of EndTAB.org (Ending Technology-Enabled Abuse), is dedicated to addressing existing and future threats posed by technology to victims of crime and gender-based violence. He joins us today to address existing and future threats posed by technology, and the ways in which technology is misused and weaponized to harm vulnerable victims of crime, such as victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, elder abuse, and human trafficking.
We Discuss: - How human traffickers control and exploit individuals through the use of force, deceit, or coercion
Why victims that are forced into human trafficking struggle and often can not escape their situation
How social media is used for easy deception and to lure and manipulate victims into trafficking
Why victims of sexual exploitation and human trafficking don't always seek help from others
The importance of talking with our children to bring awareness and build resiliency around them
The ways in which technology is misused and weaponized to harm vulnerable victims of crime
Several tips for staying safe online and helping victims to reclaim ownership of their digital lives

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about how to get through the holiday season when you're struggling with sadness and grief.
I've spent many years working with grieving people, and I know that one of the hardest times for them can be the holiday season. So, what is it about the holidays that can be so difficult for someone that's going through grief, loss, or sadness of any kind?
Well, one of the biggest contributing factors is that the holidays are all about joy. When you're feeling sad, and possibly grieving the loss of a loved one or a big change in your life, you feel isolated and even defective. You don't know what to do or how to relate to those around you that all seem so happy.
Today, I'd like to discuss some of the things that you can do if you are dealing with sadness during the holidays and share some strategies that can help you or your loved ones with growing through the holidays rather than just getting through them.
We Discuss: - Why the holiday season is an especially difficult time of year for people that are grieving
Helping ourselves and others to heal and cope with grief and the many upheavals of life
Strategies for growing through the holiday season rather than just pushing through it
Focusing on self-care, moving at a pace that feels good, and making yourself a priority
Being easy on yourself and taking shortcuts to help deal with hard and draining emotions
Expressing and releasing emotions rather than pushing them down and ignoring them
Being authentic to yourself, honoring your energy level, and acknowledging your needs

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about kindness, compassion, and communication in the workplace and what leaders need to focus on to create a great environment for everyone.
Times are certainly changing and gone are the days where everyone simply shows up to work and does their job regardless of the environment, the circumstances, or their personal well-being. Today, employees are holding their employers to higher standards, and employers are gaining the awareness that their employees are most productive in a positive workplace.
Companies and organizations naturally want to increase their productivity, retain staff, and attract new team members, but this requires employers to understand what employees really want from a company. An unhealthy workplace will not only affect individual employees, but it will also hurt the overall success of the organization itself.
Today’s guest, Rachael Collins, is the founder of Partners in Prosperity and is a serial entrepreneur who has been a successful strategic management and organizational effectiveness consultant for over 30 years. She joins me today to discuss what leaders need to focus on in order to create optimally healthy, happy, and productive workplaces that encourage their employees to bring their best selves to work each day.
We Discuss: - How we can learn to communicate effectively and improve the way we connect with others
What's changing in the workplace today and how employers are being held to higher standards
Classic mistakes that leaders of companies and organizations make and what needs to change
Creating a sense of trust with employees and establishing a safe and healthy work environment
Having compassion and communication in order to work together collaboratively and productively
Building organizations that attract and retain talent by establishing benefits employees really want
Workplace wellness and respecting employees personal needs and lives outside of the workplace

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about baby boomers and the many products that are helping them to live a better, healthier life.
Today's "older folks" sure aren't what they used to be. When I was growing up, 65 sounded really old, and the belief was that at 65, it was time to retire. Today, that's not really true. Lots of people want to stay vibrant and active in the workforce, and even those who may choose to retire still want to do things to contribute.
Baby boomers are paving the way to better health well into their golden years and are determined to make the most of their lives. They're exercising, watching their diets, maintaining their stamina, and being proactive about their health care. Baby boomers are truly redefining aging and reshaping perceptions of old age.
Back in the day, people were aging faster. They didn't know what we know today about diet, exercise, and wellness, and they certainly didn't have access to products like the ones we will be talking about today!
LifeWave’s VP of Marketing, Jim Caldwell, joins me today to discuss LifeWave's amazing wearable technology that has helped people all over the world realize their greatest potential. He provides insight on the amazing benefits of using these products, including improved sleep, reduced stress, more energy, increased stamina, sharper mental focus, and an overall feeling of youthful vitality.
We Discuss: - How baby boomers are redefining aging and no longer anticipating lives of disengaged retirement
The positive developments and challenges that have surfaced from the large baby boomer generation
Advances in medicine, health, and wellness that have contributed toward an everlasting prime of life

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about tackling bullying, overcoming Comparanoia, and celebrating ourselves for who we are.
20 to 30% of children and youth are bullied at school every year, and for certain vulnerable groups, the risk is even higher. As a parent today, it's practically impossible to completely shield your child from bullying because it can also be taking place online, where everyone remains connected outside of school.
We cannot prevent bullying, but we can prevent our children from feeling entirely vulnerable to bullies. As parents, we can celebrate our children for who they are and teach them to be proud to learn, grow, and challenge themselves.
When a child feels safe to celebrate themselves for who they are, they are not inclined to believe the negative things that others may have to say about them. The bottom line is, we can ALL find great value in celebrating ourselves more often!
Today’s guest, Davide Di Giorgio, is the #1 international best-selling author of Being UNapologetic, a keynote speaker, TEDx speaker, Comparanoia™ expert, and a speaking and confidence consultant. He joins me today to discuss the cycle of Comparanoia and how to break free from it and step into our full potential. Davide shares the impact we can have on ourselves and others by comparing less and celebrating more.
We Discuss: - The Cycle of Comparanoia and how to overcome it and shift into a success mindset
How to become UNmessable, UNapologetic, and embrace the act of celebrating you
The antidote to Comparanoia that helps build confidence, self-worth, and self-esteem
Redefining celebration in our lives and giving ourselves more options to celebrate often
How circumstances may victimize us but we always are at choice with how we respond

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about honoring our veterans and healing the painful wounds of war and post-traumatic stress.
We have freedom today because brave individuals have been willing to go to scary, dangerous places and put their lives on the line to fight for our country. Those are the veterans that we honor today and every day.
There are other holidays, like Memorial Day, that honor fallen veterans who fought for their country. But I love the fact that on Veteran's Day, we honor and thank every man and woman - particularly living veterans - who have served the United States in all wars.
My father Jack Gutman, one of the last surviving veterans of the Invasion of Normandy, joins us today to share his painful recollection of the Invasion of Normandy along with his journey of healing the wounds of war after a 66 year-long struggle with PTSD.
He also shares the beautiful healing experience he got to have this past June when he and a group of other veterans made an emotional and life-changing return to Normandy for the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
We Discuss: - The epidemic of post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and suicide in veterans
The events of D-Day and the Battle of Okinawa that changed Jack Gutman’s life forever
Why more veterans are not seeking help or are resistant to mental health support
Reducing the stigma of mental health care in veterans and others experiencing PTSD
How PTSD can affect anyone who’s experienced a significant traumatic event
Helping a veteran to seek counseling and other beneficial mental health treatment
An emotional and life-changing return to Normandy for the 75th anniversary of D-Day

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about the complexities of cannabis in the workplace and how employers can maintain a safe, happy, and ethical environment for its employees.
Proposition 64 was the 2016 voter initiative to legalize cannabis in California, which permits recreational use of marijuana as long as it falls within the right confines. This means that our employees are using marijuana in some form, so we as employers need to think about that and have policies in place that make sense with that realization in mind.
Today’s guest, Ryan Nell of Pettit Kohn Ingrassia Lutz & Dolin law firm, is a shareholder and a leader in the firm’s employment and labor group. He joins me today to discuss how Prop 64 fits in with how other states are handling medicinal/recreational marijuana and how employers can still enforce drug testing and a drug-free workforce while staying ahead of the curve in an effort to avoid legal trouble.
We Discuss: - The power of the subconscious mind and using “afformations” instead of affirmations
Prop 64 and how it fits in with how other states are handling medicinal/recreational marijuana
What employers can do about drug testing and still demanding a drug-free workforce
Creating policies that make sense and take into consideration the legalization of marijuana
Staying aware and ahead of the curve in an effort to avoid legal trouble before it arises
Understanding the law in order to maintain compliance and a happy and safe workplace

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about turning our society’s cycle of violence into one of transformation and healing.
Incarceration has had a severe, negative impact on both those who have served time in prison and society as a whole. While a prison sentence is supposed to be rehabilitating, many prisoners fall into a tragic cycle of crime that essentially puts them on a path of repeated incarceration.
Roughly 600,000 prisoners are released each year, but unfortunately, they rarely come out healthier than when they were initially incarcerated. With both their mental and physical health neglected, inmates have a high risk of leaving prison more debilitated than when they went in.
Today's guest, Mariette Fourmeaux, Founder of nonprofit Brilliance Inside, shares that the healing cycle starts with transforming prison from being strictly a container of violence to a creator of peace. She explains that in order to create a safer, more peaceful world for everyone, we need to first connect people to their brilliance and help them unleash the positive expression of this brilliance.
Mariette shares powerful insight on the impact of building a positive culture and shifting prisons into transformative places of healing and peace in order to inspire and motivate inmates to take ownership of their actions, their transformation, and their future.
We Discuss: - Creating a safer, more peaceful world by healing society's cycle of violence and incarceration
The impact of our society’s current cycle of violence on our communities and our economy
Encouraging healing by transforming prison from a container of violence to a creator of peace
Connecting to inner brilliance and helping others unleash a positive expression of this brilliance
Why a person connecting to their inner brilliance creates a ripple effect of healing around them
Creating a safe rehabilitative space for inmates to heal the pains that led to their criminal activity
Helping prison residents successfully reintegrate into society with the right tools and resources

On this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about the health consequences that humans will be exposed to with deployment of the 5G (fifth generation) wireless network.
What exactly is 5G and how fast is it compared to 4G wireless cellular service? There’s a lot of buzz around this topic, but it seems as though we are neglecting a much more important question…
Is 5G even safe? The truth is, we may be risking our health for the sake of speed, which will also result in an unprecedented and irreversible environmental change on a global scale.
If current plans for 5G come to fruition, we will be exposed to levels of wireless radiation that are tens to hundreds of times greater than what exists today.
Leading scientist and internationally renowned scholar, Dr. Beverly Rubik, joins me today to discuss the detrimental health issues that humans are exposed to through wireless radiation.
She shares powerful insight into the truths behind 4G and 5G, how we can minimize our exposure to wireless radiation, and why it's critical that we accurately assess the consequences that deploying 5G can have on humans and all of the Earth’s ecosystems.
We discuss:

How others can step up and help the people of Yemen that are in need of humanitarian aid
What the 5G wireless network is and how it differs from the 4G that we’re currently using
Why it’s dangerous to be exposed to these higher frequencies of 5G that go beyond 4G
The effects of short-term and long-term exposure to wireless radiation on humans
Why children are especially vulnerable to the damaging effects of using wireless devices
How 5G will significantly increase exposure to RF radiation on top of the 2G, 3G, and 4G networks

On this episode of Change It Up Radio, we’re talking about insomnia and how to resolve sleeping issues in order to live a happier and healthier life.
When it comes to insomnia and overall sleep problems, we have a huge issue in our country. Over 42% of Americans have trouble sleeping, and 40% get less than six hours of sleep each night.
Not only does insufficient sleep leave people feeling drowsy, frustrated, and unproductive, but it's also linked to depression, ADHD, obesity, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and Alzheimer's as well.
We need sleep to recover, revive, and survive, just as we need food, water, and oxygen. Without proper sleep, our bodies suffer immensely and our mental and physical well-being pay serious consequences.
Terese A. Santos, Founder of Beauty for the Soul Mentorship and the 5-step Sacred Peace Plan, joins me today to discuss decreasing stress, increasing our quality of sleep, and nurturing our inner peace to live a happier and more successful life.

We Discuss: - Tools of energy psychology and how they can help move people through problematic issues
What motivated Carson to take a journey across the United States on his bicycle
Where Carson is currently, how his trip is going so far, and how he's raising awareness
How the LifeWave X39 Patch is helping Carson to maintain his stamina and recover quickly
Why anyone - regardless of their age - can benefit from using LifeWave's X39 Patch

Today we’re talking with Carson Caldwell who is biking across the United States to raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
After doing an internet search for "which countries are starving," Carson Caldwell learned about the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and was quickly overcome with a sense of helplessness upon discovering the severity.
The New York Times is calling the situation in Yemen "the world's worst humanitarian crisis" with 22 million Yemenis in urgent need of humanitarian aid. The conflict has also pushed 32% of its provinces into a heightened risk of falling into famine.
Carson is currently riding his bicycle from Pennsylvania to California with several stops along the way. He hopes to meet with supporters while raising awareness and funds to send food and other humanitarian aid to people in Yemen.
