Many view religion as just a system of rules to follow. If you just do this or not do that, God will love you and you will obtain eternity. In almost every case, they are correct. However, with Christianity, this is not the case. Join us this Sunday, as we continue our series in Colossians, chapter 3:1-4. In our sermon “Relationship NOT Ritual”, we find that it’s not about following the rules or traditions, but about becoming new creations, which can only be achieved, through our relationship with Christ
from Colossians 1:20-23, where the Apostle Paul tells of how The Lord has reconciled His entire creation.

should not only serve others, but also represent the glory of God through Christ. Join us, as we are encouraged in these truths from 1 Peter 4:7-11.
These days we find some professional sports teams, have enough money to construct virtual all-star teams. They acquire the best players money can buy. However, this doesn’t always guaranty a championship. In fact, some of these juggernaut teams, fall flat on their faces and do not even make the playoffs. How could this be? Almost always, it’s the failure of the team, to submit to leadership or each other, or both. It’s “every man for themselves”. Join us this Sunday, as we study 1 Peter 3:1-7. Here Peter speaks about the most important team on earth, a husband and wife. We find that in a truly healthy and Biblical marriage, there is submission. Submission to God’s design of leadership and each other. Here we truly find “The Power of Submission”.
In our culture today, pride can come in different forms and can have different meanings. Some may use it to tell their child they are proud of them for an accomplishment. While others may use it to describe their work ethic, as in, “I take great pride in my work”. When the Bible speaks on the subject of pride, it is never seen in a good light. This form of pride causes mankind to place their thoughts and ideas above God’s. It actually causes some to become their own god, or worship creation. When this happens, it can come with some grave consequences. Join us this Sunday, as we study Romans 1:18-32. In these vereses, the Apostle Paul describes the terrible consequences of “Pride’s Deceit”.
from 1 Peter 1:22-25, where we'll find encouragement in how to love according to God's Word.
Some people try and do good things, to earn God’s love. Those with faith in Jesus, do good things because of Who He is and all He has done for them. We know we cannot do anything to change our position with God, because we cannot EARN salvation in the first place. However, Peter reminds us that we better remember Who God is and that He deserves the utmost reverence and respect. Join us this Sunday, as we continue our series in 1 Peter 1:17-21. Last week we learned that we should, be Holy as He is Holy. This week will find our motivation to do so. We will find that we are in fact, “Motivated by Reverence”.
which is associated with Christ's second coming. We find hope in this future event, as God will heal this sin cursed land.
from Malachi 2:10-17, where we'll hear the prophet Malachi prophesy God's covenant with His people.
where we'll observe the spiritual health of those who DO NOT honor the name of the Lord.
We’ve all heard the saying “The devil made me do it”. The fact is, the devil can’t MAKE you do anything. However, we do have an adversary, who studies us and does everything he can, to separate us from the love and protection of God. Much like a great hunter or fisherman, he knows the where, when and how to tempt us to take the bait. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series in Ephesians 6:10-17. Here Paul tells us exactly how to defeat the schemes of the devil, by putting on “The Armor of God”.
The Roles of Husbands & Wives - Ephesians 5:22-33 - Matthew Niemier by Villas Grace Church
God's divine Light exposes the darkness. In fact, we ALL began in darkness, until God's Light exposed our sin. As Believers, we are called to walk as children of light. When we do, God's divine Light is reflected off us & onto those still asleep in darkness to His grace. Join us for our sermon "The Illuminated Walk" from Ephesians 5:7-14, where we'll find encouragement as children of light.
There is a lot of current discussion about living a healthy life and what contributes to that or conversely what causes health problems. Come Sunday and discuss what Paul has to say about building a healthy Body in our sermon "Building Up the Body of Christ" from Ephesians 4:8-16.
What makes church buildings so special? Is it a special place where God dwells? Is it a place where the Holy Spirit meets believers every Sunday? The answer is, the church is just a building. There is nothing particularly special about it. However, when believers get together to worship, we transform the church building into a special place. Join us this Sunday as we continue our sermon series in the book of Ephesians. As we wrap up chapter 2, Paul is explaining how Old and New Testament saints are united through Christ. Also, because of our faith in Christ, “We are the Temple” of the Holy Spirit.
Throughout history, brokered peace treaties never seem to last. In fact, most historians believe that between 1500 BC & 850 AD, there were an estimated 1,500 peace agreements between nations. On average, each lasted no more than 2 years. As Believers, we know that there is only one peace agreement that has & will continue to withstand the test of time. Join us for our sermon "Barriers Broken Through Peace" form Ephesians 2:11-18, where the Apostle Paul reveals God's eternal covenant with man.
How do you know that you're saved? Is salvation based on a scoresheet? Are good deeds tallied against bad deeds? Or, is salvation based on an entirely different method? Join us for our sermon "Gift Given Salvation" from Ephesians 2:8-10. In these verses we'll be encouraged in God's mercy & grace, as well as our faith in the work of Jesus.
If our faith in Jesus only brought eternal salvation, that would be enough. However, our faith also brings about much more. Join us this Sunday, as we continue our series in Ephesians, covering 1:15-23. Here Paul is grateful for the Ephesian believers, and prays they understand their calling and inheritance that comes by faith. Paul wants them to understand and receive these riches, as he is “Praying for God’s Power”.
Nothing in this life is guaranteed, except death. After death, there are only two guarantees. One guarantee is eternal condemnation & the other is eternal fellowship with our Lord & Savior. Join us for our sermon "Sealed in Him" from Ephesians 1:14-17, where we'll be comforted by the guarantee of our eternal inheritance, in Christ.
Unfortunately, this world seeks unity with incorrect motives & methods. Unification according to this world's terms & conditions will always be a vain pursuit. The reason for this failure is due to mitigated bias. The Bible is crystal clear as to how unity will be achieved. Though we are yet to experience unity's maturity, the necessary actions by Jesus' work on the cross has secured this future event. Join us for our sermon, "Together in Christ" from Ephesians 1:4-10, as we find encouragement in the promise that the entire universe will be brought together through the blood of Jesus!
Love is a powerful motivator. It can cause one to save or even sacrifice life. However, in everyday life, it causes us to meet the needs of those we love. Join us Sunday, as we wrap up the Gospel of John. In our final verses, we find Jesus asking Peter if he loves Him. At this time, Peter has paused his ministry and has gone back to fishing. Jesus uses “The Power of Love”, to motivate and empower him back into service.
According to God's Word, it's from the dust that were created & to the dust we shall return. However, those who receive God's grace, which leads to faith in the resurrection of Jesus, too will be resurrected. Believers will receive glorified bodies that are on par with Jesus' glory. Join us, on Resurrection Sunday, as we examine Philippians 3:20-21. We will be encouraged in the future resurrection of the Believer, through faith in the resurrection of our Savior, in our sermon "From Obscurity to His Glory".
Are modern day miracles really miracles, or just God working through the supernatural? What's the one thing that must happen in order for a miracle to be considered a miracle? Join us for our sermon, "Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God," from John 20:30-31 as we answer these questions, as John summarizes his entire Gospel account.
There have been many ideas and theories surrounding the resurrection of Jesus. Many scholars, even secular ones, agree to the basics of Jesus’ life. They believe He lived, died on the cross, and then something happened to His body, as the tomb was empty. We as believers, believe He IS the risen Christ! One key piece of evidence that this is true, has to do with what happened to the disciples, after the resurrection. Join us this Sunday, as we continue in John Chapter 20:19-29. What exactly turned the disciples around? They start out scared, confused, and in hiding, to becoming fearless preachers, willing to give their lives for the truth of the Gospel. We will see this is key in understanding, the “Evidence of a Risen Christ”
As humans, we have an uncanny ability to recognize another human's voice. We can recognize an individual simply by hearing their tone, inflection, modulation & pitch. Such was the case for Mary Magdalene, when she initially mistook the resurrected Jesus' visual appearance for a gardener. It wasn't until she heard His voice, that she identified Him as the Messiah. Join us for our sermon, "The First Witness," from John 20:11-18. In this sermon we will observe God's grace, love & faithfulness, as He identifies Himself in an auditory fashion to Mary, the first witness of His resurrection.
What does the resurrection of Jesus mean to you? What path did the first century disciples take as they grew in the knowledge of Christ? Have you ever found yourself doubting what it is you believe?
Through out human history, mankind has pursued the quest to find longevity. Cyronics is a technology that exemplifies this pursuit through the freezing of the human body, only to be awaken in the future. Unfortunately, most do not know that it's not about longevity, as much as it's about eternity. The pursuit of living a life eternal is only achieveable by God's grace & our faith in Jesus. Our Savior secured our eternal future, because only He has absolute control over death, even including His own. Join us for our sermon, "Control Over His Death & Burial" from John 19:31-42, as we observe Jesus' complete & out right control.
Every story ever told that's worth its weight has a climax. The climax of a story is when a conflict & or problem is solved, like a hero who saves the day, or a character who solves a seemingly unsolvable problem. Join us for our sermon "Climax of the Gospel," from John 19:16-30, where John records the crucifixion of Jesus as the climax of God's redemptive love story!
If you are on social media at all, you’ve run into an internet know-it-all before. Some, will pretend to be an expert in almost anything. Very few speak from actual experience or first hand knowledge of an event or subject. Join us this Sunday, as we hear from the Apostle John. At this point, he’s a seasoned Apostle and has actually walked and talked with Jesus Himself. Therefore, he has first hand knowledge to combat false teachings going on in and around the church. We discover in the first chapter of 1 John, John giving “An Eyewitness Account” about the truth of the Gospel and Jesus Christ.
Citizens of the United States have been inundated with stories of insurrection since January of 2021. For most of us, words like insurrectionist & sedition were potentially heard for the first time. However, accusations of insurrection have been made for thousands of years. In fact, the Jewish leaders accused Jesus of insurrection against the Romans. Join us as we dive into the account of Jesus standing before Pontius Pilate accused of sedition & insurrection in our sermon "Jesus Before Pilate pt.1" from John 18:28-38.
Meekness is often mistaken for weakness. This could not be further from the truth. One definition of meek is “Power under control”. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series in The Gospel of John. We observe in chapter 18, Jesus being betrayed and arrested. He knows His time has come, but goes along with it willingly. He did not have to allow this to happen. He truly shows us that “Meek is not weak”.
Christian's are like Russian Matryoshka dolls. What's a Matryoshka doll? It's one doll, comprised of various sizes, where each individual doll fits into the size larger. In our sermon "Extraordinary Prayer pt.3" we'll witness Jesus pray for us to be in Him, like He is the Father. We'll also witness, Jesus pray for our unity in Him, which reveals God's love to the unbelieving world.
Before Jesus departed the Upper Room, He prayed over His disciples. Just before He subjected Himself to a Roman crucifixion via the Jews, He had three specific prayer requests, as found in John 17:11-19. First, He prayed for their unity. Secondly, he prayed for their spiritual security. Finally, He prayed for their sanctification. Join us for our sermon, "Extraordinary Prayer pt.2," where we'll be encouraged in His prayer for those who follow Him!
In these verses from John 17:1-10, Jesus prayers for His return to glory, the Believer's grace & divine protection.
Often in athletic training, you'll hear the expression: "Pain is temporary, but glory is forever". According to the Word of God, the same is true with regards to grief & joy. Grief is temporary, but joy is forever. The only caveat would be one's definition of joy. There are many blessings that we mistake for joy, which is why it's important to correctly distinguish between the two. Blessings come & go, whereas the joy found in Jesus lasts forever. Join us for our sermon, "Grief, Turned Joy" from John 16:16-22, where Jesus comforts His disciples prior to His crucifixion.
Over 360 million Christians are currently being persecuted world wide. That's 1 out of every 7 Christ followers walking this globe. Persecution is nothing new. In fact, Jesus faced intense persecution, & warned His disciples that they'd endure the same. Join us for our sermon "Help Is On the Way," from John 16:1-11, where we'll hear about His remedy for the incoming persecution of Believers.
Turnstiles are effective at controlling the flow of a crowd. Typically, they consist of 3 arm bars, that rotate to allow one individual to proceed at a time. Jesus refers to a narrow gate as the entry point that leads to life. Like a turnstile, the narrow gate only allows one individual to proceed at a time. Thus, salvation is based on a personal, individual relationship with Jesus. Join us for our sermon "The Narrow Way," from Matthew 7:13-14, as well as Threefold Communion, which pertains to the past, present & future aspects of eternal salvation.
Famous performer and self proclaimed atheist Penn Jillete, once said that he did not mind people evangelizing to him. While he completely disagreed, it would be unloving for someone not to tell him about the Gospel, if they believed he was going to Hell. He didn’t understand why so many reacted in hate. Which is unfortunately how many people react to the message of the Gospel. Join us this Sunday, as we continue in the Gospel of John. In John 15:18-25, we find Jesus explaining to the disciples, that people will hate them as much as they hated Him. And it’s all because of this message of love. They in fact will be…“Hated Because of Love”.
A Vinedresser is someone who prunes & cultivates vines. According to Scripture, God is our Vinedresser, who prunes & cultivates our branches, so we can bear more fruit. Join us for our sermon "The Vinedresser's Branches," from John 15:1-6, where we'll find encouragement in God producing fruit in us, so we can endure trials & tribulations.
Whether it’s actual storms or just storms in life, we could all use a bit more peace. As Believers, we know that we will have troubles in this world, but Jesus has overcome this world and gives us peace that this world cannot. Join us this Sunday, as we continue our series in the Gospel of John. We'll close out chapter 14, where we'll find out where“True Peace” comes from.
Artificial Intelligence is instant help. From Apple's Siri & Google Assistant to Chat GPT & Grok AI, we have instant access to help, almost anytime, anywhere. These are nothing more than a man-made attempt to mimic God, which is why AI will fail us anytime, anywhere. God's instant help is eternally reliable. He has given us His Helper, who dwells within us, assisting us as we strive to keep His commandments. Join us for our sermon "The Promised Helper," from John 14:15-24, where we'll be encouraged to love God & reap the benefits of the Holy Spirit.
Many people seek evidence for the existence of God everywhere but Scripture. Sure, God reveals Himself through His creation. However, it's the self-testimony of Jesus, John the Baptist & Old Testament Scriptures that reveal Jesus to be God in human flesh. Join us for our sermon "The Personhood of Jesus," from John 14:7-14, where we'll be comforted in Jesus' testimony that He is God & faith in His personhood leads to eternal salvation.
Absolute truth is something that holds true regardless of time, culture or preference. People’s view of absolute truth may vary, but it does not change what is absolutely true. Join us this Sunday, as we continue our series in the Gospel of John, as we begin chapter 14, we'll find Jesus making an absolute truth statement. He declares Himself “The Only Way, Truth and Life”. He is the ONLY way to the Father.
Espionage is employed by nation states in order to gather intelligence on adversaries. The most damaging case of treason was performed by FBI agent Robert Hanssen, who was a Soviet/Russian spy for 25 years until he was exposed by the U.S. government in 2001. Hanssen received more than $1.4 million in cash & gifts from the Kremlin for his acts of treason. Probably the most famous traitor in human history is Judas Iscariot, who spied on Jesus for the chief priests. However, Judas committed treason for the measly price of 30 pieces of silver ($3,200 present day), which is a far cry from $1.4 million. Unlike the people of the United States, Jesus was not a victim. In fact, Jesus knew of Judas' treasonous work all along. Join us for our sermon, "Exposing Treason" from John 13:18-30, where we'll witness Jesus not only expose Judas, but direct his next steps of treachery.
Why did Jesus wash His disciples feet? Join us for our sermon as we study this unique action of Jesus and what it was all about.
We have all rebelled against God. When faced with the reality of our rebellion, we either harden our hearts, or faithfully follow Jesus. Fortunately, the Lord bestows patience on our rebellion & His patience is for the benefit of our salvation. Join us for our sermon “God’s Perfect Patience,” from John 12:35-43, where we’ll be encouraged in His delaying inevitable judgment.
Some may believe courage is the absence of fear. General Patton was quoted as saying, “Courage is fear that has said its prayers”. So we see courage is enduring in spite of fear. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series in the Gospel of John. In chapter 12, we find Jesus expressing a level of fear and anxiety for what He is about to go through. However, we will see why this could never stop Jesus from fulfilling His purpose. Even though He was “A Troubled Savior”.
Living a life of fear comes from putting too much stock in your accomplishments, experiences & possessions. The only remedy for fear is hope & humility. We should live this life like we have nothing to lose. So, when we hope in our life to come & humble ourselves by forfeiting our lives for Jesus, we position ourselves to receive honor from God. Join us for our sermon, "To Gain From A Loss," from John 12:20-26, where we'll be encouraged to adequately prepare for our eventual exit from this world.
Who do you choose to follow & why? What is the character of a Godly leader? Can the truth spoken in love ever truly be stopped? Join us as we answer these questions & more in our sermon "Right King, Wrong Time," from John 12:12-19.
When it comes to eternal salvation, the Bible is black & white. Faith in the resurrection of Jesus leads to eternal life. Whereas unbelief in said resurrection leads to eternal damnation. Join us for our sermon "Faith vs. Unbelief," from John 12:1-11. In these verses, we'll witness the faith of Martha, Mary & Jesus' friends, pitted against the unbelief of Judas, the large crowd of Jews & the chief priests.
We hear the terms “conspiracy” or “conspiracy theory” thrown around a lot today it’s nothing new. Anywhere there is power mankind will struggle to control said power. Join us this Sunday as we wrap up John chapter 11. We will find that the Jewish religious leaders have finally had enough of this Jesus. They feared losing their power over the people and their position with Rome. They must do something immediately. Therefore, they develop a “Conspiracy to kill the Truth”, not only a truth but the Truth Himself.
During WWII, Nazi Germany created a weapon called the “Sonic Cannon,” that was based on sound. Quite simply, the Axis forces capitalized on the power of sound. As Believers, we know that sound has tremendous power, especially when it comes from the Lord’s voice. He creates, destroys and resurrects by the sound of His voice. Join us for our sermon “Resurrection of Lazarus pt. 3,” from John 11:38-46, where we’ll be encouraged in the powerful voice of Jesus, which raised Lazarus from the grave.
Back in the 90's, Reebok reminded us that "Life Is Short. Play Hard." This is really a play on the mantra "Live Life To the Fullest," or "You Can't Take It With You." It's as though we should get the most out of our only life to live. For those who believe in Jesus, we know that this couldn't be further from the truth. Jesus Himself says: "I Am the resurrection and the life." Therefore, we know that we have a life, beyond this life now. Join us for our sermon "Resurrection of Lazarus pt.2," where we'll witness the grief, compassion & love that drew Jesus to the cross.
It's common to hear athletes give God the glory after a win. However, it's rare to hear an athlete give God the glory in the midst of defeat. As Believers, we are to give God ALL the glory in ALL circumstances. After all, He is ALWAYS at work! God receiving glory is the central theme of the "Resurrection of Lazarus". Join us for part 1 of our 3 part series, beginning with John 11:1-16.
If there is something we know well here in South West Florida, it is the power of a major hurricane. Even with advanced technology, all we can do is guess the absolute path and strength of any given storm. They seem to do whatever they want. Even so, that is still a small example, compared to the power of God. Join us this Sunday as we wrap up John chapter 10. Here we find the religious leaders ready to put Jesus to death. However, they could not, for it was not His time yet. Only Jesus could surrender His life. It could not be taken from Him. This is because of the “Unstoppable Purpose” of God.
Debit & Credit Card fraud are a 5 billion dollar a year industry. In the technological age, nothing is secure. Our possessions, financial data & personal information can all be stolen. However, the one thing that can never be taken away from us is eternal salvation. Our eternal destiny has been provided & secured through Jesus! Join us for our sermon "Divine Affirmation," from John 10:22-30, where Jesus affirms His deity, as well as His firm grip on our salvation.
Reward often requires a certain amount of risk. When taking risks, we often do so in a calculating fashion, which we do as our desired outcome isn't guaranteed. To say that Jesus "risked" His life would be an understatement. As God, Jesus couldn't risk anything, as He always knows the outcome. Join us for our sermon "The Good Shepherd pt.2" from John 10:11-21, where Jesus willingly lays down His life for His flock, as a sacrifice that a risk taker could never calculate.
Who do you follow? In the age of social media, this question has many implications. Today, there's an abundance of content creators vying for our attention. They're constantly asking us to like, share, follow & or subscribe. So, who do you follow? Do you follow Jesus? Do you know the sound of His voice? If so, what does His voice sound like & where do you go to hear it? Join us for our sermon, "The Good Shepherd," from John 10:1-10, where we'll be encouraged to ONLY follow the sweet sound of salvation!
It is said by some that Jesus never actually claimed to be God in the flesh. He only claimed to be a prophet of God. However, we see many places in Scripture, where His deity is quite obvious. Join us this Sunday, as we continue our series in the Gospel of John, where we'll find in verses 9:35-41, something amazing. We find Jesus accepting worship from a man he healed from blindness. Only God Himself can receive worship. If Jesus was not God, this would be a direct violation of the first 2 commandments! Instead, we find here, that Jesus is “The Son of Man, Worthy of Worship”.
Increasingly, we're being nudged towards policy centered around the notion that mankind can save the planet. Even though God's Word clearly states in 1 Corinthians that "the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire". So, why would we even entertain this notion? Well, it's simple; outright control & spiritual blindness! In fact, the Pharisee's lust for control & spiritual blindness caused them to harbor prejudice when investigating the miracle of Jesus healing the sight of the blind man. Join us for our sermon, "Rejecting Testimony," from John 9:13-34, where we'll witness the motives of the spiritually blind.
Do you have eye trouble? Do you know someone else who does? Join us in John 9:1-2 to hear how "Jesus Brings Sight to the Blind."
When people think of world leaders, we imagine tailored suits, sheiks in hattahs & even ostentatious ceremonial garb as worn by late leader of Libya, Muammar Al-Gaddifi. The appearance of Jesus was anything but what the world would imagine. Join us for our sermon "The Shocking Messiah," where we'll be encouraged in the sacrifice made by our Lord & Savior!
Which came first, the chicken or the egg? This age old question is often debated. Unfortunately, most neglect Scripture when debating which came first. According to Genesis 1:20, we know that God created "living creatures". Therefore, neither the chicken or the egg came first, because none of creation came before Jesus! Join us for our sermon "Eternally, I Am" from John 8:56-59, where we'll be encouraged in the eternal deity of Jesus, which is the only way to salvation!
As we continue through the Gospel of John, we find Jesus going toe to toe with the religious leaders once again. In fact, they are growing more vicious by the moment. Join us this Sunday, as we continue in John 8:48-55. Here we find Jesus defending the truth in love. If we were Jesus, it would be so easy for us to lash out in anger. But, it’s here we learn what it takes to have a “Holy Debate”.
Forgeries & fakes have been around since the beginning of time. However, time is the one thing that forgeries & fakes cannot withstand. Eventually, all forms of deception come to light. This is why the Resurrection of Jesus is so amazing! Never has there been proof that His appearing post-crucifixion was that of forgery. In fact, God gives us five evidences that verify "The Authenticated Resurrection" in 1 Corinthians 15:1-11.
When Pinocchio lied, it was apparent from his growing nose. What if the same were true about our adversary? Would the world still buy into his manipulation? Is there even a method for detecting such lies? Yes, the Bible! In John 8:37-47 & in our sermon, "Lies of Our Adversary" Jesus rebukes satanic manipulation by declaring: "Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies."
In 1990 Junior Reid & the Soup Dragons had a song titled: "I'm Free". Some of the lyrics included, "I'm free to do what I want any old time". Sure, we're free to do what we want, just not any old time. This is because temporary freedom is blind to eternal enslavement. We know from John 8:31-36 that Jesus is our only source for "True Freedom," which is not temporary, but eternal! So, yes, you are free to do what you want, but just know that the time it takes to live out your fantasy of freedom is limited.
Sunlight is responsible for all life, including the air we breathe & a plethora of other life sustaining necessities. The sun can be an underestimated source of power. For example, not only does it produce life, but it also has the ability to destroy that which comes into its direct path. Jesus' testimony in John 8:12-21 proclaims that He is "The Light of Life". Not only does His Light guide us toward eternal life, but also eternal seperation for those who reject His testimony.
It can be argued that many governments operate as judge, jury & executioner. Whether it's present day or centuries past, this behavior is nothing new. In fact, the Romans allowed the Jewish leaders to behave in such a manner. In the Gospel of John, Jesus is under a tremendous amount of antagonism by the Jewish leaders. In fact, in John 8:1-11, they even attempted to entrap Him in order to be His "Judge, Jury & Executioners".
Artist are commissioned to design memorials of various kinds for the purpose of commemoration & remembrance. These memorials take the form of statues, plaques & architecture. As Believers, the cross acts as a memorial to commemorate the sacrifice that Jesus made for our sinfulness. In fact, the true meaning of the cross represents Jesus death, burial & resurrection for "For Our Injustice". Amazingly, all of this was predicted some 700 years prior by the prophet Isaiah in 53:1-12.
We all have different perspectives in how we view our world. But does that perspective, dictate truth? Does absolute truth exist, beyond our own perspectives?Join us this Sunday, as we study John 7:37-53. In these verses, we find Jesus making an absolute truth claim about Himself, and then we see a few different reactions to that truth claim. This causes division amongst the people. But we will see, that the real battle is not really between the people, but “Perspective vs Truth”.
From the Home Shopping Network to Amazon, retailers will market their products in order to create a false sense of urgency. We hear & read descriptions that say, "Hurry Now, Last Chance, Ends Tomorrow". Count down timers, supply & demand, as well as free shipping are employed to entice sales. These marketing strategies are successful for generating sales of products that are wants, not needs. However, there is a need for all of humanity; eternal salvation. In John 7:25-36, Jesus utilizes these same methods when speaking of salvation. Essentially, He is saying, "Act Now, Before It's Too Late".
We've all heard the expression, "use your time wisely". So, in any 24 hour period we're all allotted the same amount of seconds, which is 86,400. So, what's the wisest use of your 86,400? According to Scripture, Jesus wisely used His allotted time by dedicating Himself to discipleship. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "God's Time," from John 7:1-13 where we'll be encouraged to use His time wisely by dedicationg ourselves to discipleship that leads to salvation.
Consistency is one of the most difficult achievements for fallible humanity. We even struggle with inconsistency when conducting some of our our most skilled processes. The same is true about our faith. Either we're faithfully inconsistent, or consistent with our faith. The same was true of the many who followed Jesus early on in His ministry. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Fickle vs. Faithful" from John 6:66-71, where we'll witness Jesus large crowd of followers dwindle to only twelve.
People have many preconceptions. And often they are drawn to those who teach them what they already think is right. They are not willing to accept the hard teaching of scripture or of the Lord. This Sunday we will explore what it takes to be a True Disciple of Christ.
This world has been overtaken by a deluding influence towards the Gospel. Many believe that salvation is a work. There are those who question the authenticity of their salvation. Simply, they're unsure if they've done enough to please God. The Good News is that we can never do enough. The Gospel is crystal clear that only the person & work of Jesus secures our eternal destiny. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "The Source of Eternal Life," as we witness Jesus share as much with a deluded crowd of followers.
Contrary to certain beliefs, it's the Lord's eternal salvation that chooses man, not man choosing eternal salvation. From eternity past to eternity future, the person & work of Jesus keeps a firm grip on everything the Father has given Him. In fact, it's "God's Will" that determines this Truth. Join us this Sunday, as we examine as much from John 6:36-40.
Through out the Gospels, we find a crowd following Jesus. However, only a few knew or believed who He truly was. It seems many were just following for the free meals. Join us this Sunday, as we continue our study in John Chapter 6. After feeding the 5000, we pick back up after the crowd has followed Jesus and His disciples across the Sea of Galilee. Jesus challenges this crowd, by encouraging them to not seek the food that perishes, but the “Food That Does Not Perish.”
A highway mirage is when water appears to be on the road up ahead, but upon arriving at the location, there's no water at all. The same is true for some who claim to have faith in Christ. From a distance they seem true to form, but upon closer examination there's no evidence of faith in the Son of God. Join us for our sermon "True Faith," from John 6:16-24. We will examine the miracle of Jesus walking on the sea, as His miraculous act exposed the difference between those with & those without true saving faith.
A large gathering in the name of Jesus doesn't always indicate spiritual vitality. In fact, most often it represents people's attraction to pragmatism. This is the case today, as well as when Jesus walked this earth. We look no further to prove the latter than when Jesus fed thousands with only 5 barley loaves & 2 small fish. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Fish That Never Swam," from John 6:1-15, where we'll unpack historical & present pragmatism toward the Gospel.
What happens when culture deviates from God's Word? Quite simply, God's wrath! Greek & Roman culture experienced as much due to their deviation from God's moral standard. As we Americans evaluate our nation, it's clear that God's wrath is upon us too! Join us this Sunday for our sermon "When Culture Deviates," from Romans 1:18-32, where the Apostle Paul details the tell tale indicators of a depraved culture that's deserving of God's wrath.
There are many ideas about who Jesus is. Even the Jewish religious leaders had a hard time identifying Him, even as He walked before them. This should have been easy, as they had the Scriptures and many prophecies to identify Him. Jesus had a specific address to identify His Person and place in history. Such as, the virgin birth, where He would be born, and many other signs and miracles that He would perform. Join us this Sunday as we wrap up John Chapter 5. We will continue to see that God and His Word testifies that Jesus is Messiah.
A sworn testimony is the evidence given by an individual who's committed to tell the truth. The witness stand & depositions are amongst the most common forms of sworn testimony. Join us for our sermon "The Ultimate Testimony," from John 5:30-38, where we'll examine the evidence of God's testimony about Jesus.

Join us for our sermon "When Jesus' Voice is Heard," from John 5:25-29, where we'll recognize the future promise of resurrection from Jesus Himself.
The Bible is very clear that Jesus is God in human flesh. After having performed miracles, the Jewish leaders were looking to persecute Jesus. Little did they know, because they were looking to persecute the very God they claimed to worship. Join us for our sermon "Jesus Equals God," from John 5:18-24 where we'll hear from Jesus about how He is God, Himself!
We all are very familiar with superstitions. From avoiding walking under an open ladder, to the unlucky number 13, we just can’t help ourselves. As Believers, we should not take these things too seriously. We know God is in control of all things and everything happens according to His will. Join us this Sunday as we examine the account of the healing at Bethesda in John chapter 5. We will find that superstition and false religion cannot hold a candle to the power of Jesus. We will see that they are in fact…“Enemies of Salvation”.
We've all heard the expression, "You gotta see it, to believe it". As this maybe true in this world, it's most certainly not true about salvation. In fact, Jesus Himself says in John 4:48: "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe". These words by our Lord and Savior reflect superficial faith, as we are to believe what we hear about God's Word & His Word alone. Join us for our sermon, "Healed to Believe," from John 4:46-54, where we'll recognize the difference between belief that's seen verses belief that's heard.
An expert witness must have confidence, rigor, consistency, detail, trustworthiness, experience, clear communication, dedication & improvisation. Jesus executed all 9 of these characteristics when witnessing about Himself, to the woman at the well. Join us for our sermon "Evidence of Jesus as the Messiah," from John 4:38-45, where we'll be encouraged in becoming expert witnesses on Jesus!
In the Mid-West, harvest runs from September through October. What a farmer sows in late April, will be reaped during the harvest. As Christians, we are called to sow & reap too. However, we're not all called to farm, but rather harvest the hearts prepared before hand by God. Join us for our sermon "Harvesting Hearts," from John 4:27-38, where we'll be encouraged to reap what's been sown as a team.
In order to effectively save lives, firefighters do not wait for a fire to bring the fight to them, they bring the fight to the fire. The condescension of Jesus is similar. He left his holy position in Heaven, so that He could bring us the living water that saves from the fire of hell. His condescension is cloaked in mercy & grace. Both of which are available to ALL who believe & receive His message of salvation. Join us for our sermon "Living Water," from John 4:1-15, where we'll witness a representation of His condescension with the woman at the well.
Who's really in control of this world? According to God's Word, it's satan. He is the current instigator amongst the world's governments. Therefore, if you disapprove of what you're witnessing, you can trace your disappointment to the sin introduced into God's creation by the evil one. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "This World's System," from selected Scriptures verifying the protection offered by God against the one who rules this fallen world.
This world has always been filled with liars. Charles Ponzi, Lance Armstrong, Barry Bonds & Bill Clinton to name a few. This is what happens when you're from earth, you speak from the earth. Join us for our sermon "Jesus is Above All," from John 3:31-36, where we'll be encouraged to Believe the testimony of Jesus as God Himself.
There are many who call themselves spiritual leaders, but not all who lead, do so biblically. Unfortunately, many spiritual leaders make their ministries about themselves. It’s all about their abilities and accomplishments. As we continue our series in the book of John, we find John the Baptist once again explaining to individuals, that he is not the Christ. Nor is he even close. In fact, John is the perfect example of a great spiritual leader. His ministry was always about God and any fame or glory is to go to Christ. Towards the end of his ministry, it was clear to see, it was always about ”More Jesus, less me".
In the court of law, a not guilty verdict doesn't necessarily mean without guilt. It just indicates that judgment went in favor of the defendant. As Believers, we understand that we're born guilty of sinful behavior. Therefore, we're more concerned with a pardon, rather than a not guilty verdict. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Believe or be Judged," from John 3:16-21, where we'll be encouraged to seek the pardon from the consequence of sin that's only found in Jesus.
Need to get a project done that you've never previously attempted? No problem, there's a YouTube video for that. In fact, we have access to an unlimited supply of tutorials on how to do anything. Though "How To" tutorials are sufficient for getting a project done, there's no "How To" be saved. Join us for our sermon "Born Again" from John 3:1-14, where we'll observe Nicodemus being taught by Jesus regarding this very notion.

Join us this Sunday as we observe John 2:12-17, where Jesus clears out the merchants & money changers from His Father's House in our sermon, "Den of Thieves".
Quite simply, Christians operate like conduits to Christ. We channel others to Him, as He works through us, but never by us. Our testimony of Jesus as Messiah is what makes this possible. We testify to this truth like those who've gone before us, namely John the Baptist and his disciples. Join us for our sermon "The Disciples Testimony," from John 1:35-51, where we'll be encouraged by God, as He works through those who follow Jesus.
Many people are familiar with the scene of a courtroom. Some may have even been called as a witness in a case. Some are called as an eye witness to the crime, or as an expert in a field relevant to the case. Or sometimes, people are called as a character witness in defense of the defendant. Join us this Sunday, as we continue our series in the book of John. In verses 1:19-28, we find the religious leaders grilling John the Baptist about who he is and why he was baptizing. They were assuming him to be an expert witness in the law, but they ended up with a character witness of who Jesus is. Join us for “The Testimony of John.

Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "The Word" from John 1:1-5, where we'll recognize the truth that Jesus is God of salvaiton.
It's Biblically true that you are saved by faith. However, the important question is…faith in what? You can have strong faith in anything, but your measure of faith does not make it true or beneficial. It’s clear by Scripture, that Saving Faith, is faith placed in the Person and work of Jesus Christ for salvation. Join us this Sunday, as we study Romans 12:1-8, where we'll examine one major way that saving faith is shown in the life of a believer.
God's mercy & compassion are revealed by His grace. We have been gifted this eternal protection through the work of Jesus. This is a message that we go forward with in our lives. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "God's Amazing Grace," from Jonah 4:1-11, where we'll be encouraged in the Lord's work for our eternal salvation.
God's plan of redemption incorporated the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus from the beginning. What an amazing God we worship! He created, despite knowing that He, Himself, would have to go to the cross. What's even better, is that the cross He went to will remain empty for all of eternity! Join us this Resurrection Sunday for our sermon "Why an Empty Cross?", from 1 Corinthians 15:20-28, where we'll be encouraged in the work of the redeemer, for the redeemed & His redemption.

Join us this Sunday to witness God's abundant mercy on full display in our sermon, "God of Mercy" from Jonah 3:1-10.
Our God is full of mercy, which He wants to extend to all humanity. Unfortunately, not all of humanity will accept His mercy. This was the challenge for Jonah. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Nowhere to Run, Nowhere to Hide," from Jonah 1:1-6. In these verses, will be encouraged to know that we cannot out pace God's all inclusive mercy!

Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Brought Back to Salvation" from James 5:19-20, where we'll be encouraged to share the Good News with those who've strayed from the truth.
Christians will suffer at some point here on earth. We realize that all suffering is caused by the curse of sin. How, as Christians, should we react and what can we do about it? Join us for our sermon, "Taming the Tongue" this Sunday, as we unpack James 3:1-12.

Join us, as we dig deeper into this question in our sermon, "Dead Faith pt.1" from James 2:14-17.

Join us this Sunday for our sermon "The Truth About Being Content" from 1 Timothy 6:6-10, to see if said attitude needs to be adjusted toward the Lord.

Jesus taught many times by using common illustrations. He used things such as salt, bread, sheep, ect. However, at some point, He began to teach in parables by telling earthly stories that reveal Heavenly truth. They were not as clear and easy to understand in how they applied to the Kingdom of Heaven. Many today wonder why Jesus would do such a thing. Join us this Sunday as we kick off our series, “Parables From Jesus.” We will begin with the parable of “The Four Soils.” Here, Jesus drops some Heavenly truth and also explains why He began to speak in parables.

We must prepare prior to doing the will of God. Join us this Sunday, as we close out the book of Hebrews in our sermon "Humble Prayer," from Hebrews 13:18-25, where we'll recognize that our preparation begins with prayer.

Though we may not float away, Christians can be led astray by earth's hostility. Therefore, in order to prevent this from happening, we need to be tethered to God's grace. Join us this Sunday for this exact encouragement from our sermon, "Outsiders on the Inside," from Hebrews 13:7-16.
Most of us make lists - for shopping, the grocery store, or perhaps a "to do" list for jobs around the house. There are some lists in Scripture as well, At the end of his letter, the writer of Hebrews gives us a "to do" list of things that might not seem very connected to each other - but it's all about serving our great High Priest, Jesus. Jon us this Sunday to hear from Hebrews chapter 13, and what the Lord has in mind for our "to do" list.
There are some who claim Christians have the power to claim things in the name of Jesus. If you just have enough faith, anything you need or want is just a prayer away. Is this true? Also, how much does your amount of faith have to do with the likelihood that your prayer will come to fruition? Join us this Sunday as we examine John 11:20-44, A.K.A. "The Raising of Lazarus". We will learn that our faith should be placed in the miracle worker and not our desired outcome. Some claim they have great faith and can claim anything with a prayer. However, if it is not God's will, it's simply "Misplaced Faith".
Scripture says that when God spoke on Mt. Sinai, "His voice shook the earth". No wonder why in 1971 Carole King sang, "Earth Move Under My Feet". With over 20,000 earthquakes per year to prove it, this earth has been moving under everyone's feet ever since Moses went up the mountain. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Unshakable Kingdom" from Hebrews 12:18-29, where we'll heed the exhortation to warn the world about the second coming of Jesus.
As the Russians invade Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, has been an inspiration to his people. Instead of fleeing the country, he has chosen to lead from the front. As Zelensky stands up to the Russian aggression, the Ukrainian people have been sure to follow. It's a Biblically known fact that the Lord uses humans, to draw other humans to Him. As Christians, we should be conscience of this fact, especially as we never know who is watching. Therefore, we can be an example of Jesus by living from the grace of God. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Grace by Example," from Hebrews 12:12-17, where we'll be challenged in as much.
The fundamental difference between discipline and punishment is life and death. Discipline prepares one for life, whereas punishment leads one to death. Parents discipline their children to one day leave their home in preparation to one day have their own. On the other hand, punishment is to be penalized through confinement. As children of God, we as Christians benefit from God's discipline. He is preparing us for a future with Him. Therefore, any amount of suffering, and or afflictions in this life, results in growth for our eternal life to come. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Discipline Over Punishment," from Hebrews 12:4-11, where we'll be encouraged in as much.
Tom Brady recently announced his retirement from the NFL after a highly successful 22 year career. Love or hate the guy, he is the GOAT when it comes to QB's in the NFL. His work ethic and commitment to training and eating healthy, has been linked to his longevity and success. He is the example for all others. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series in the book of Hebrews, where we just learned about the "Hebrew Hall of Faith," in chapter 11. As we begin chapter 12, we learn how we are to mimic those in the "HHOF" and their commitment to faith in God. We also see how Jesus is our greatest example of being "Committed to the Faith".
There is much debate as to who should've been inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022. Many from the steroid era are being shut out for the final time. It could be argued that this is due to an individual player's lack of truth and integrity. Christians may not have a Hall of Fame, but we do have a Hebrew Hall of Faith. All of those who've been inducted into the Hebrew Hall of Faith have one thing in common, faith in the truth & integrity of the promised Messiah! Join us this Sunday as we discover the faith of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, David and many others in our sermon, "Faith Over the World," from Hebrews 11:23-40.
Controlled burns in Forrests or wooded areas are conducted in order to promote healthy growth. Often times growth is hindered by dead leaves, tree limbs, invasive plants, debris & harmful insects. Although this seems counterintuitive, it's really beneficial as the old dead weight is removed, so that plenty of room can be made for the new healthy vegetation. The church is similar, in that it purges sin to promote healthy spiritual growth. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "How the Church Grows," from Matthew 18:15-20, where we'll see how church discipline benefits healthy growth.
Everyone enjoys being rewarded. Though controversial, It's why participation-awards became so popular. Rewards begin with God the Father and are received by His faithful. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Rewarding Faith," from Hebrews 11:8-22, where we'll see Abraham, Sarah, Isaac & Jacob be rewarded due to their faithfulness.
The Bible says it's impossible to please God without faith. Some claim you must have "blind faith" to please God. Is this true? Well...what exactly is faith? Where does it come from? Why does it please God? As we continue our series in Hebrews, the writer tackles these questions in the beginning of chapter 11. Join us this Sunday as we discover where faith comes from and why it's "Not So Blind Faith".
Nobody appreciates being judged by others. After all, it’s kinda difficult to be judged when the one judging is just as sinful. However, this is not the case with the Lord. He is able to judge His people through His righteousness. Fortunately, there is one way, and one way only to avoid His judgment. That one way is to posses saving faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Join us this Sunday for our sermon “Avoiding Judgment” from Hebrews 10:26-31, where we’ll be encouraged in as much.
The art of sending a proper invitation and subsequent RSVP is all but lost modern day. Many in society have opted to send invitations via social media rather than USPS. Unlike modern culture, Jesus has sent out the most proper invitation in the history of the universe. He has invited us, via His blood, to be in the presence of the most holy God. Join us this Sunday as we're encouraged to respond properly to Jesus' invitation, as found in Hebrews 10:19-25, in our sermon "Responding To Jesus".
Let's face some facts, the only real finisher is Jesus! We may think we complete this task or that assignment, but we really just leave the door ajar. The Temple Institute is a 34 year old organization that has built more than 70 artifacts that can be used when the 3rd Jewish Temple is constructed. One of the elements they have been working on for the past 6 years, is the red heifer used for the purification from death. Even with the latest in science and technology, they have not been able to produce a pure red heifer. According to God’s word, it must meet many requirements and be without blemish. Even one or two white or black hairs, or even a bruise could disqualify it. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series in the book of Hebrews. We find in verses 9:11-28, that Jesus was the perfect sacrifice and was without blemish. We will also see many more reasons why He alone is the superior sacrifice! When it comes to the cleansing of sin… it’s “Nothing but the blood of Jesus”.
Every verse, every character and every ceremonial ordinance in the Bible leads to Jesus! Though the Tabernacle was an ineffective sanctuary, where ineffective ceremonies were performed, the fact remains that it still led to Jesus. Join us this Sunday, as we're challenged in Hebrews 9:1-10, to observe how Jesus was foreshadowed by an "Ineffective Religion," that ultimately led to His eternally effective death, burial and resurrection.
Paula Abdul's 1988 single, "Cold Hearted" couldn't be more accurate of our adversary and our sinfulness. There's a line in the chorus that reads, "He don't play by the rules". As "rules" are concerned, no, our adversary does not play by the rules. In fact, before Jesus, we didn't either which is why God promised to turn our heart of stone (cold-hearted) into one of flesh. God also agreed to write His law (rules) upon our hearts too. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "A Better Covenant," from Hebrews 8:6-13, where we'll be encouraged in as much.
The world's consideration of strength, is weakness according to the Gospel. Where as the Gospel's consideration of strength, is weakness according to the world. This world's pattern masquerades weakness with a facade of strength. As Christians, we worship the Lord, in spirit and in body, due to the strength He displayed in sacrifice. Join us this Sunday as the Apostle Paul challenges us in "Active Surrender," from Romans 12:1-2.
Many people love the outdoors and camping. To some, camping is not their idea of fun. It's been said that camping is like people paying a bunch of money to live like they are homeless. Either way you look at it, camping is meant to be a temporary dwelling. As we continue our sermon series in Hebrews, chapter 8 verses 1-5 will reveal the differences between the temporary sacrificial system of the tabernacle and the permanent work of our Lord Jesus Christ. As expected, Jesus continues His perfect ministry as He is "Seated in the Place of Perfection".
Purchasing a product with a "lifetime warranty" gives a consumer peace of mind. Unfortunately, a lifetime will eventually come to an end. Therefore, true peace of mind can only be obtained through something guaranteed for eternity, such as salvation & the priesthood of Jesus. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Eternal Guarantee" from Hebrews 7:20-28, where we'll discover & be encouraged in this promise.

Join us Sunday as we discover “The Eternal Nature of the Priesthood of Jesus” from Hebrews chapter Seven.
In our world today, scammers are thriving at an alarming rate. They cost the US 100's of billions of dollars, just last year. With so much of that out there, it's hard to trust anyone these days. But what about God? God promises us certain things in His Word. How do we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we can trust Him? Join us this Sunday as we see that the writer of Hebrews answers this very question. We will be finishing up chapter 6, while being encouraged, that it is "In God We Trust" alone.
Can you lose your salvation? Oh, the million dollar question! As Christians, we should be more concerned with maturing in Christ, rather than being anxiety ridden over our eternal salvation. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Move On Toward Maturity" from Hebrews 6:1-8, as we look to encourage each other to mature in Christ, by responding to the eternal security He provides.
In 1993 the "got milk?" marketing campaign began. The purpose was to promote milk consumption for those aged 7-13 years old. As you may know, milk can help grow strong bones, which is why this marketing campaign targeted pre-teens. Like milk, the Word of God can help us grow spiritually. In fact, we are told in the Bible to begin with milk, then move on to solid foods. Join us this Sunday as we learn more about growing spiritually from Hebrews 5:11-14, in our sermon "got milk?".
“Would you take a bullet for me?” I think that’s a line from some film somewhere, but the question is often asked. How far would you go in love to help someone in need? We serve Someone who not only stands in for us as helper and mediator, but who actually gave Himself for us. Join us Sunday as we take a look at Hebrews chapter 5 and that perfect High Priest—Jesus.
“Dead man walking” is a term usually used for someone on death row. Can you imagine someone living a large part of their lives, knowing they will suffer death soon? The unfortunate fact is, all of humanity is in this very predicament. Because of our own rebellion, we all are condemned to death (aka Hell) and there is a set date that awaits us all. Join us this Sunday as we study John 3:16-21, where Jesus explains that this is exactly why He had to come save us. We all at some point are “Dead men walking”. But Jesus came to set us free!
The court of of law can be an expensive endeavor. Fortunately, there are less expensive alternatives. One such alternative is arbitration, which provides a mediator who is sympathetic to both sides, for the purpose of making an unbiased and fair judgment. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Throne of Grace" from Hebrews 4:14-16, where we'll proclaim the grace and mercy found only in Jesus!

When the Israelites wandered in the wilderness, God promised them rest in the land of Canaan. This "rest" was contingent upon their trust of Him and His promise. Unfortunately, the Israelites did not trust in the promise made by God. The same is true for us. We're told to trust God and His promises, yet we find ourselves in unbelief and distrust. Fortunately, it's not too late! We still have time to not only enter God's rest, but also claim His rest for our lives as well. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Claiming God's Rest," from Hebrews 4:1-11, where we'll learn how to avoid being disobedient.

God has made a way for us to enter His rest, all we have to do is believe.

In 1989, Nike marketed the multi-sport athlete, Bo Jackson, with the slogan "Bo Knows". Join us for our sermon, "Jesus Knows," from Hebrews 2:5-18, where we'll be encouraged by the fact that Jesus, as a human, can relate to our every experience in life.

According to the Bible, bodily training is of "some value". Those who participate in physical exercise, understand that the body needs to suffer in order to grow. The same is true for us as Believers. The Lord takes us through trials in order to prepare us for His kingdom. Though we suffer now, we will receive His glory forever, later. After all, Jesus is coming back to judge the disobedient and those He does not know. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "His Coming Judgment & Glory," from 2 Thessalonians 2:5-12, where we'll be encouraged in the significance of His second coming.
One of the greatest trash talkers/braggers of all-time is none other than Muhammad Ali. Not only did he say that he was the greatest, but proved it on many occasions. As Christians, we have permission to be a little like Ali in this regard. This is especially true as we brag and boast about the local church. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "A Church To Boast About," from 2 Thessalonians 1:1-4, where we'll witness the Apostle Paul boast about the church in Thessalonica.

The saying: "moderation in all things" has been a popular idiom for 1000's of years. It comes from the idea that if you do things in moderation, you will live a more virtuous, or holy life. In order to reach a destination in an automobile, the correct gear must be selected. Therefore, how the vehicle travels is determined by the gear selected. The difference between moving between gears is called "neutral", which is not a gear. As Christians, we need to be in the correct gear in order to reach our destination. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Never Neutral," from Galatians 6:7-10, where we'lll be encouraged to be geared in the Spirit, not the flesh and definitely never in neutral.

This fact should lead to us to the understanding that we need to have each other’s backs! Join us this Sunday, as we begin Chapter 6 of Galatians, where Paul explains that if we unite in love, in the power of Jesus, we can have victory over sin together. God’s word calls us to be “Sinners United in Battle”.
When a dog is leashed for the first time, they will rebel against their master. Eventually, the dog will learn to allow their master to guide them by the leash. However, the ultimate goal is for the dog to be guided without a leash, simply by listening to their master's voice. As Christians, we should be guided by the Lord's voice too. In fact, we can do this by allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Walking by the Spirit," from Galatians 5:16-26, where we'll be challenged to do just that.
Do you ever feel as though your pesky old sin nature won't cease and desist? After all, we Christians are new creations in Jesus. So, we must therefore continually learn to put our new selves on. However, we must first identify the purpose of our new found freedom that's found within the new self. Join us this Sunday as we aim to do just that in our sermon "Ever Loving Freedom" from Galatians 5:13-15.
Do you know someone who has the power of persuasion? Someone who could sell water to a well? If so, you're not alone. In fact, we all live in a world that can be pretty persuasive. As Christians, we should understand that our adversary and his minions have the power of persuasion too. They have the ability to incorrectly persuade our perception of God's grace. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "The World's Persuasion," from Galatians 5:7-12, where we'll be encouraged to identify inaccurate persuasive measures through the perspective of the Gospel.

In verses 5:2-6, Paul laments how some are resisting the free gift of grace. In turn they are cutting themselves off from the only thing that can save them, simply because they are "Resisting Grace".

The Bill of Rights can be found within the first 10 amendments of the United States Constitution. As Christians, we have rights too! As adopted children of God, we are heirs and have rights according to our faith in Jesus. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Salvation: Before & After," from Galatians 4:1-7, where we'll be encouraged not to regress back to before our salvation, when we were heirs only, with no rights.
Slavery comes in many forms today. Men, women and children are under the stronghold of another, and they long to be freed from their captives and situations. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series in the book of Galatians "Freedom From Sin Is Found in Jesus." In Galatians 3:23-29, the Apostle Paul explains that all of humanity at some point were slaves to their sin and the law. No matter how hard we work for the righteousness of God, we can never attain it. We are captives to the law because of our inability to follow it perfectly. The average American wallet or purse has 4 credit cards. Also, the average American is $5,700 in debt. Let's face it, financial debt is a reality. However, spiritual debt is not. Join us for our sermon this Sunday, "Living Out Faith," from Galatians 3:6-14, where we'll be challenged to live like we have saving faith in the work of Jesus.
It's very sad and dishonest when people commit the act of stolen valor. This happens when either a civilian lies about serving in the military, or a military person lies about receiving certain awards. Both are sad and despicable, because they claim the glory earned by another. As we continue our study in Galatians, we find Paul calling out those who who claim they worked for their own salvation, by perfecting their lives through their own works. They themselves want to claim the glory that belongs to Jesus and the Holy Spirit! In a sense they commit stolen valor against God! Join us this Sunday as we study Galatians 3:1-5 to see how we can view the truth of this all through the lens of the Gospel message
Tightrope walker Philip Petit is quite accomplished. His most impressive feat was to walk between the World Trade Center towers in 1974. Unfortunately for Petit & all tightrope walkers alike, one mis-step leads to death. As Christians, we cannot toe the line of the law. Those who toe the line, or work for their eternal salvation, will be met with the same fate as a tightrope walker who takes a mis-step. Join us for our sermon, "Righteous by Faith," from Galatians 2:15-21, where we'll worship God for the freedom only found in His grace.
Expert hostage negotiators will tell you that a "win-win" mentality will lead to ineffective and disastrous results. At best, it satisfies neither side. Therefore, it's best not to compromise when negotiating. Unfortunately, compromise is exactly what we observe Peter doing in the second chapter of Galatians. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Proof Positive Gospel pt. 2," where we'll witness Paul's rebuke of Peter, for compromising the gospel of grace from Galatians 2:11-14.

Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Proof Positive Gospel pt.1," as we'll explore Galatians 2:1-10, to find out the truth about Paul being a renegade from the gospel of grace.
So how could someone be the right wrong man for the job? We as humans have a very limited view of what God easily sees. While we may think something is impossible, He knows what He is capable of. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series in Galatians. In Chapter 1:10-24, we will see how no one could have imagined this once enemy of the church (Paul), would be commissioned to preach the Gospel to the nations. He was also being called out by some to be a fake Apostle and someone preaching a fake Gospel. He explains in no uncertain terms who gave him the Gospel message and who called him to preach it. While most thought Paul was all wrong for the job of spreading the Gospel message…God knew He would change Paul forever and make him the right man for the job.
The United States has been involved in a fair share of liberations. A couple of examples include Europe from Nazi occupation and the Caribbean island of Grenada. Join us this Sunday for our sermon: "The One and Only Gospel," from Galatians 1:1-9, where we'll celebrate God's grace as the one and only true liberation for humanity.
Professional wrestlers are known by their monikers. In fact, some are serious, while others are downright goofy. This contrast is represented by a serious moniker like "The Undertaker," or goofy like "Bastion Booger". In the Bible, Jesus has a few monikers (more like titles), examples include "Lamb of God," "Son of Man," or "The Lion of Judah". However, there is one that's often over looked: "Snake Crusher". Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Redeemed: The Snake Crusher," where we'll examine the first Gospel prediction and mention, as we wrap up our series Created, Fallen, Redeemed from the first three chapters of Genesis.
Legend has it that Sir Isaac Newton was contemplating the forces of nature as he sat under a tree. As he sat, some of the tree's apples began to fall. He observed that some apples fell, while others did not. This caused him to speculate that some unseen force was to be credited. So, what is said force? Well, gravity of course! As Christians, we should understand the unseen force behind our sin. Like earth's gravitational pull, our sin pulls down on us too! Join us this Sunday for our sermon: "Fallen: Sin's Pull," form Genesis 3:1-13, where we'll learn to recognize and take responsibility for the gravity of our sin.
Some believe all we see today was created by chance. Some also believe that with enough time and chance, we can understand all the complexity. We as Believers know that it wasn't by any chance at all. It was carried out by an all-powerful and all-knowing God, who planned out each and every detail. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Created: God of the Details," from Genesis 2:4-25, where we'll see how God had a perfect plan and specific detail for all we see today, and for our eternity.
Thomas Edison has 1,903 patents for his inventions. Of all that he has created, he made the declaration that the 1877 invention of the phonograph was his crowning achievement. Beyond any comparison, our God is a creator too! So, what's God's crowning achievement? The creation of mankind, as man and woman. Join us this Sunday for our sermon: "Created: In His Image," as we're encouraged in being created in the likeness of God, from Genesis 1:26-31.
When we first introduce ourselves to someone for the first time, it's customary to state our name to the other party. Usually, this is accompanied with a handshake and a reciprocal exchange. In the very first book of the Bible, beginning with the very first verse, we recognize that God introduces Himself to us. Join us this Sunday for our sermon: "Created: Heavens & Earth," from Genesis 1:1-25, where we'll revisit God's initial introduction of Himself & more to His creation.
You’ve probably heard it from your doctor: too much sodium of any form in your diet can lead to a host of problems—high blood pressure, hardened arteries, greater risk of stroke and heart disease. So it’s probably a good thing to lay off the salt shaker when digging into those mashed potatoes from KFC. But that’s not true of our speech as Christians. In Colossians chapter 4 the Apostle Paul tells us to "go heavy on the salt" when it comes to how we respond to other people. Come and join us on Sunday to find more of what the Scriptures have to say on that subject.
If we believe that God is the Creator of all things, it shouldn't be surprising that He has designed a plan for His creation. God has even planned for how we should interact in our earthly relationships. His design includes how we should all submit to those He has placed over us in authority. When we follow God's design for earthly authorities, He is pleased and we are blessed. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Following God's Design," as we wrap up the third chapter of Colossians.
We first learned of synonyms & antonyms in elementary school. So, take the word "outdated" for example. An example of a synonym would be: "obsolete". An example of an antonym would be: "up-to-date". As Christians, we need to let go of our "outdated" selves & embrace our "up-to-date" version in Christ. Join us this Sunday as we learn how to do just that in our sermon "Out With The Old, In With The New" from Colossians 3:5-11.
What truly is a blessing? Can you lose your salvation? What does a past action, present truth & future reality have to do with eternity? Join us Sunday as we answer these questions & more in our sermon "The Risen Connection," from Colossians 3:1-4.
The world asks: What have you done for me lately? Unfortunately, false teachers proclaim that God asks the same question. Fortunately, this couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, God's concern is found in what He did for us through Jesus. Therefore, Jesus plus anything else equals death, while Jesus alone equals life eternal. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Living Out Freedom" from Colossians 3:20-23, where we'll be encouraged to live out our freedom that's only found in Jesus Christ.
It's 2020 and still difficult to decipher truth in journalism. In fact, journalism has replaced named, credible sources with that of anonymity. So, who can we trust to tell us the truth? Fortunately as Christians, we have faith in the One who is True. His Truth has remained consistent since creation and will carry onward through eternity. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "The Truth About Forgiveness," from Colossians 2:6-15, where we'll focus on the person of Christ and the implications His truth has on eternal salvation.
Did you know that all Believers are called to full time ministry? Now, there is a difference between full-time vocational ministry and the ministry of an everyday Believer. Both are equally important, as both are purposed to encourage others in Christ. So, what is ministry? Well, it's any act of serving someone else, as commissioned by God. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "The Ministry," as we examine Colossians 1:24-29, where we'll be encouraged to serve others under Christ!
Are you confident in your salvation? Are you secure, or insecure about eternity? Let's face it, a vast majority of those who claim to be a Christian are doubtful. Too often we confuse our performance with the performance of Jesus. The confusion stems from how we came into this world. See, we came in as bogies on God's radar. Fortunately for us, it's through faith in Jesus that God no longer sees us as enemies. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Former Foes," from Colossians 1:21-23, where we'll pit eternal doubt against eternal security.
It's been said that the power contained in our sun is like 2 billion nuclear bombs going off each and every second. What is amazing is that it's kind of considered a puny star compared to others in the universe. How powerful must God be if He can create such things with ease? What's more amazing is that God offers us the power to carry out His will for His church. Join us for our sermon, "Unmatched Power," as we will hear how God not only offers us His wisdom, but also His power to do His will.
Laughter is one of the many things that are contagious. In baseball, it's been said that hitting is contagious. Even attitude is contagious as it pertains to morale. Even our Christianity is contagious; specifically our hope and growth in Christ. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Contagious Hope & Growth," from Colossians 1:1-8, where we'll be challenged to spread the Good News of Jesus to others.
Does having more lead to happiness and a better life experience? Our western culture sure seems to think so. But, what if having more doesn't lead to happiness and a better life experience? How does one then become content? As Christians, we know the answer to these questions; Jesus! While answering "Jesus," may seem simple, our sin nature begs to differ with said simplicity. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "True Contentment," from Philippians 4:10-13, where we'll be encouraged to seek the Lord no matter the circumstance.
Conflict is a normal part of life. If you're around anyone for any length of time, there will be disagreements. It's easy to let disagreements divide and destroy relationships. Despite conflict, Christians are called to exercise forgiveness. The practice of forgiveness leads to the strengthening of our relationships. This is how we carry out the goodness of God, which is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. Join us this Sunday for our sermon from Philippians 4:1-9, where we'll be encouraged to combat conflict by "Following God's Heart".
Unfortunately, we tend to forget who we are before God. We tend to work on ourselves. We submit to self-help and motivation. Basically, we behave like we're our own masterpiece to be presented before God. As Christians, we should know that the truth of the Gospel contradicts this notion. See, the Good News tells us that we're actually His masterpiece to be presented to Him through Jesus. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Faith, Not Works" from Philippians 3:1-11, where we'll examine the encouraging words by the Apostle Paul regarding this truth!
A particular philosophy of life, and or conception of the world is called a "worldview". More often than naught, each individual has their own personal worldview. So, are all created equal? Can they all be true? Keep in mind, a worldview must explain the origin of life, morals and our destiny. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Testing Christianity," where we'll put the Christian worldview to the test. After all, shouldn't it sufficiently explain the world in which we experience everyday?
There are many types of computer servers. Each server performs the same basic function, which is to provide data to other computers. Computer servers allow computers to communicate within their connected network. Just like computer servers, we as Christians are connected to other believers within a network. In similar fashion, we have the capacity to serve one another. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Servants of Jesus" from Philippians 2:19-30, where we'll be encouraged to do just that!
Have you ever been so narrowly focused on a particular task that you neglect the wider implications? Sure, we can all relate to being hyper focused. In fact, no campaign can be successful unless each individual fulfills the requirements of their role. See, the Christian's way of life is very similar. We each have a sphere of influence in which the Lord uses to build His Kingdom. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "The Saved Life," form Philippians 2:12-18, where we'll be encouraged by how God can use us to advance His Good News!
The Bible is very clear in 2 Timothy that in the last days, people will be lovers of self. Therefore, we need to utilize the advancements in technology wisely. We especially need to be careful not to use social media as means to pat ourselves on the back. Let's face it, we all struggle not to succumb to false humility. Fortunately, we know the One who is the standard of humility and as Christians, It's our responsibility to point others to Him! Join us this Sunday for our sermon "True Humility" from Philippians 2:1-11, where we'll be encouraged to do just that.
When tragedy strikes it leads some people to ask the question: "Why do bad things happen to good people?" This line of thought is based on karma, which is based on the belief that you get what you earn. This karma world view even seeps it's way into Christianity. However, Christianity and karma contradict each other. Karma says you get what you earn, while the Gospel says Jesus took what you earned, which is God's wrath. It's true we cannot live a life good enough to earn salvation, which is why Paul ends the first chapter of Philippians by encouraging us to be "Living Gospel Worthy". Join us this Sunday as we find our how this is possible in our lives.
Join us this Sunday as we reflect on the "Past, Present and Future" aspects of our salvation, as represented in Threefold Communion.
A "Calamity" can be defined as a great misfortune, and or disaster. Often, we classify any calamity as being "all bad," when in fact calamities are really "all good". This gives us Christians ample authority to say, "when it's all bad, it's really all good". Why? Simply because any calamity provides unique opportunities to share the Gospel to a new audience, from a fresh perspective. Join us this Sunday as we're encouraged by the Apostle Paul's calamity and how he modeled the very attitude that "when it's all bad, it's really all good," in our sermon "For His Glory," from Philippians 1:19-26.
We’ve all heard the expression: “Don’t shoot the messenger”. That’s a welcoming notion for us Christians. Why? See, it’s because we’re all called to be messengers of the Good News of salvation through Jesus! Therefore, we should be rather comfortable being the “messengers,” as it’s really all about the “Message”. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, “The Message,” from Philippians 1:15-18.
Many people will make New Years Resolutions at the start of 2020. For the most part they will be self centered; like wanting to lose weight, make more money or enjoy life more. While there is nothing inherently wrong with that, what about focusing on others? How much better would this world be if we had more New Years Resolutions that focused on bettering the life of our fellow man? As Christians, we know that the greatest thing we can do for our fellow man is to spread the good news of the Gospel. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series in Philippians. We will see what happens in our lives, and the lives around us, when we stay “Gospel Focused”.
Did you know that lizards, snakes, amphibians, some tress and corals are all "indeterminate growers"? Now, some of you are asking: "What's an indeterminate grower?" Well, it's something that really never stops growing. See, as Christians we should never stop growing. This is especially true of our love for one another. Therefore, join us this Sunday for our sermon "Increasing Love" from Philippians 1:1-11, where we'll be encouraged to do just that!
Baseball has a long history of being America's pastime. Those who know the sport are aware of the term "baseball ready". What is "baseball ready"? It's when a defender gets into a ready position. This is important, as it's never known when the ball will come their way. As Christians, we need to be in the ready position too! We may know that Jesus is coming back, but what we don't know is when. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Get Ready, 'Cause Here He Comes," from Matthew 24:36-44, where we'll be encouraged to ready ourselves for His return.
Many will be celebrating the coming of God in the flesh this Christmas season. While this is an amazing miracle and should be celebrated, it's the "reason for the season" that should be proclaimed! Jesus came to live a perfect life, die on a cross and be raised from the dead. He did this so we could be saved by our faith in Him. Join us for our sermon, "He Came To Conquer," from 1 Corinthians 15:1-14, where we'll be encouraged to recognize how a baby in manger was able to grow into a man who would conquer. Image may contain: text and outdoor
Have you ever said that you "know" someone whom you really only know in name? Sure, we all do. In fact, we probably do this most often with public figures. The greatest example of this is Jesus. Most everyone knows about Jesus, but not everyone really knows who He is. As Christians, we know that in Jesus we see God. Jesus came in the flesh to make God known to man. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Knowing God," from John 1:14-18, where we'll be encouraged in what Jesus has revealed about Himself!
Throughout history many world leaders have proven themselves to be demagogues. A demagogue develops a following due to their ability to speak to the emotions, passions and prejudices of others. Being a demagogue runs afoul if and when the leader portrays themselves as a savior of the people. This is known as a "messiah complex". As believers, we know and understand the importance of obeying the laws of the land. However, we know that our one true Messiah is Jesus Himself. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "The Promised King," from Micah 5:1-5, where we'll be encouraged by prophecy of the coming King, Jesus!
If you were incarcerated, would you reject a Presidential pardon? Did you even know that legally, one does not have to accept a Presidential pardon? I think it goes without saying that it would be foolish not to accept this blessing from the President himself. See, as Christians we understand that Jesus Himself has pardoned the entire world of sin. However, it is all too unfortunate that His pardon will not be accepted by all. As Believers, we are learning how to return this blessing of Salvation back unto God! Join us this Sunday for our sermon "A Blessing Returned," from Psalm 107:1-9.
Most agree that those who are thankful for the little things in life seem to be the happiest people. It's almost like being grateful unlocks a boost of join in our lives as humans. As Christians, this dynamic is even more potent. When we are thankful, we also know who to ultimately thank. Therefore, our thankfulness then turns into praise. When a Believer praises God, they are taking part in a powerful act that actually brings them closer to God. Join us this Sunday as we study Psalm 100:1-5, where we'll see that the entire earth is called to worship God!
What's the main purpose of your life? What is it that you live for? Maybe a tragic event has left you believing that you're living for nothing. See, we all have something to live for. Therefore, it's really a matter of living for the right thing. As Christians, we need to live everyday for Jesus! So, how do we accomplish this? To find out, join us this Sunday for our sermon "Living For Jesus" from 2 Peter 3:11-18, which will close out our series in 2 Peter, "The Church Under Siege".
In the day and time we live, it gets harder and harder to protect ourselves from getting hurt by scams. Billions of dollars are lost each year, due to credit card and identity left. As we continue our series in 2 Peter, we read that false teachers are much like these scammers. However, instead of money, eternity is on the line. Join us this Sunday as we'll be encouraged in 2 Peter 2:17-22, not to be fooled by this "Fraudulent Freedom".
The origin of the phrase "don't bury your head in the sand," does not depict the true action of an Ostrich. See, the Ostrich isn't avoiding potential predators by failing to acknowledge a problem. Rather they are burying their eggs in a safe place. However, when it comes to God's Word, as Christians, we still cannot "bury our heads in the sand". Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Ignorance Isn't Bliss" from 2 Peter 2:11-16, where we'll be encouraged to recognize those who ignorantly contribute to their own destruction.
Three various forms of public servants arrive to the scene of every major automobile accident. The EMS, Firefighters and police officers. The EMTs of the EMS perform life saving medical techniques. The Firefighters do extractions, assist in medical and carry out the clean up. As for the police, they investigate and judge who is at fault. Amazingly, all three work together in harmony. Even more amazingly, each represent individually what God can do collectively. Through Jesus, God can not only save and clean up our lives, but He can judge them too! Join us this Sunday for our sermon "The Judge's Rescue" from 2 Peter 2:4-10, where we'll be encouraged with just that!
Sports are driven by statistics, which in turn produce records. The data recorded in baseball takes the statistical cake from all other sports. Stats compiled during baseball's rich history has attributed to some of the most coveted records. Unfortunately, baseball has a statistically rich era that will be defined by one symbol. What symbol might that be? The asterisk! Let's face it, sinful man is not honest. This is especially true in our attempt to write and record history. Fortunately, the Bible was not authored by man. However, it was written by man. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "The Recorded Glory of Jesus," from 2 Peter 1:16-21 where we'll be encouraged by the recorded history of Jesus and His glory.
Riches come in many forms. Some say to be truly rich you must acquire wealth. Some say it is family and friends. Others say it's the pleasures in life. However, as Christians, we know true riches are found in and through Jesus Christ. As what could be more valuable than our own salvation? Come this Sunday for our sermon, "God's Riches," where we'll examine 2 Peter 1:5-15 and discuss the true riches God has poured out on us. After all, Peter tells us what they are and how we can benefit from them.
Anyone who's been through a hurricane knows that the worst part is the clean up, especially when you're without power for several days in the middle of the hottest month of the year. See, it's not till we're without power, that we recognize how we take it for granted. Being void of lighting, the internet, a running A/C and host of other luxuries, serves to remind us of our reliance on the power company. Fortunately, as Believers, we know that God's power never goes out. In fact, we're comforted in knowing that His power sustains us in all things! Join us for our sermon this Sunday, "His Divine Power" from 2 Peter 1:1-4, as we begin our new series: "The Church Under Siege".
We're never more motivated to clean up around the house, then when company is expected. Unfortunately, no matter how clean we get our house, it will eventually become dirty again. The same is true of whatever we clean. However, the same is not true of what God cleans. We've been cleansed and commissioned by God, for a mission. As Christians, we've been cleaned and cleared to share the Gospel. Interestingly, something similar happened to the Prophet Isaiah. See, he was cleansed and commissioned, too! Only he was cleaned and cleared to prophesy God's coming judgment. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "His Holy Cleansing" as we look further into Isaiah 6:1-7.
Furnaces and Boilers function differently, but provide similar results. Large Boilers are used in the dry-cleaning business, as they produce steam for steam cleaning, pressing and ironing garments. They're capable of generating heat up to 180 - 210 F. However, these large Boilers must be maintained. To clean the boiler tubes, one must literally get inside to chemically clean the deposits left behind. When looking inside, it's easy to observe evidence of the deposits from the tremendous amount of heat that's generated. Therefore, no one would ever wish to be inside while the Boiler was in use. The same is true for a Furnace. However, there is this amazing historical account in the Bible where three men were thrown into a furnace. The amazing part is that they were saved by a fourth man. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "The Fiery Furnace" from Daniel 3:16-28.
What is in a name? The Judeo-Christian God has many names to describe Him. One name in particular, not only describes who He is, but what He is. In the Gospel of John, Jesus is debating with the Pharisees. He tells them that Father Abraham longed to see the day he came into the world. They joked that Jesus wasn't even 40 years old. So, how how could He even know Abraham? Jesus answered: "Before Abraham was, I AM!" They immediately picked up rocks to stone Him to death on the charge of blasphemy in the highest degree. He used the most holy of all God's names to describe Himself. Come this Sunday as we study Exodus 3, to find out what His name means and see what happened when Moses ran into the "The Great I AM".
The object of wrestling is to gain superior advantage over your opponent. The sport is one of the oldest forms of combat, which dates back thousands of years. In fact, there are cave drawings that illustrate the art of grappling. Wrestling was the focal sport of the ancient Olympic Games. It's even depicted in the Bible. As Christians, we too understand what it's like to wrestle. Spiritually, we wrestle with our pride and own self-sufficiency. However, do you know what happens when we allow our pride and our own self-sufficiency to gain a superior advantage over us? We falsely believe that we do not need Jesus. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Wrestling With God," from Genesis 32:22-32 - 33:1-4, as we learn how Jacob wrestled with a preincarnate Jesus!
There are many intricate rules to the game of baseball, many of which are confusing to the casual observer. One example would be the "sacrifice fly". The "sacrifice fly," can only happen before two are out and a ball is caught in flight, therefore resulting in a scored run, after the catch. See, the batter is therefore out, but his teammate scores a run for the team. As believers in Jesus, we know that we've been sacrificed for. We've scored eternal life due to the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "The Sacrifice," from Genesis 22:1-19, as we continue our series, "Jesus In The Old Testament".
A father and son have a special kind of relationship. Most sons believe their dad has super human strength. However, this doesn't stop them from playing games that pit their own strength against their dad's. At times, the father will let the son win in order to build self confidence. Therefore, it is in the strength (or lack of in this case) and understanding of the father, that allows the son to even compete, let alone win. Our Father in Heaven is no different. He has unlimited power and knowledge, but at times has limited them for our betterment. He has done this so that we may have a relationship with Him, which allows us to see His power and glory. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Nothing's Too Hard For God," from Genesis 18:1-21. We will discover how God wants a relationship with us and wants to teach us that through Him, all things are possible!
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? Some would contest that no sound was produced. Why? Because many believe that sound does not exist if no one hears it. However, as Christians, we know this isn't quite true. Why? Because God is omnipresent. Therefore, everything happens before Him. In fact, not only does He hear each tree that falls, but He sees and hears each of us too, through His undivided, gracious attention! Join us this Sunday, as we discover Jesus showing up before His birth, to visit an Egyptian slave named Hagar, in our sermon "The Angel And The Slave," from Genesis 16:1-16.
As humans, we all suffer from making bad choices. We are imperfect beings and act accordingly. However, what about when we choose something bad for us based on a want or need? Just as some would say smokers risk a laundry list of self inflicted ailments because they enjoy lighting up. Also, as Christians, we sometimes choose to do the very thing God has told us not to do. We do it simply because we feel like it. Even though we know He is our Father who loves us and wants to protect us from sin and it's affects, we justify our way into bad situations. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "The Foolishness of Sin" from 1 John 5:16-21, where we'll find out that it's a fool's game to ignore God's Word as it pertains to sin. In fact, such behavior can even be deadly!
Have you ever noticed how technology attempts to mimic God's omnipresence, omniscients & omnipotence? To livestream one's self, is to mimic His omnipresence (All things happen before Him). To utilize the internet for the gathering of information, is to mimic His omniscients (He is ALL knowing). The technology that powers military strength, is to mimic His omnipotence (He is ALL powerful). So, do you know what a mobile phone and prayer have in common? Continuous communication, anytime, anywhere. Well, that's if there is a cell reception and enough battery life. As Christians, we do not need a cell reception, or battery life in order to communicate with God. Because of Jesus, we can communicate with God, anytime, anywhere! Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Confident Communication," from 1 John 5:13-15, where we'll be encouraged to pray according to His perspective.
A criminal conviction is often achieved due to the testimony from an expert witness. What is an "expert witness"? An expert witness is someone with special knowledge or proficiency in a particular field. However, the expertise of an expert witness, doesn't guarantee a perfect assessment. Why? Because an expert witness is merely a flawed human. Therefore, as Christians we hold the testimony of God above that of man. So, what is God's and the Holy Spirit's testimony about Jesus? That He is God in human flesh. Join us this Sunday as we learn more about this truth in our sermon "The Truth's Testimony," form 1 John 5:6-12.
The greatest boxing defeat of all time came on March 8th, 1971, when Muhammad Ali was defeated by Joe Frazier. The only knock down came in the 15th round, when Frazier dropped Ali to the canvas. Frazier went on to win by way of decision, but paid a heavy price for going 15 rounds with the greatest of all time. Some say his career was never the same after absorbing so much punishment. Speaking of paying a price, we cannot forget the price Jesus paid for the sin of the world. In fact, the greatest defeat of all time is found in His victory over the demonic system that rules this world. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "The World Defeated," from 1 John 5:1-5, where we'll be encouraged in the victory found in our faith & obedience in Jesus!
The Bible tells us to fear God. But then it also says there is no fear in love. How can a growing relationship with the Lord, abiding in His love, cast out our fears? Come discover how God’s perfect love can be perfected in us, in our sermon “God’s Perfect Love Perfected In Us,” from 1 John 4:14-21.
Some believe that Alexander the Great was the quintessential leader. His vision, execution, leadership development & "roll up his sleeves" mentality are all credited to his being a great king of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon. We can all appreciate & benefit from good leadership. As Christians, we're called to be great leaders, too! This is especially true of men as they lead their households. Fortunately, the example we follow, as we lead, is far better than that of Alexander the Great. Join us this Father's Day, for our sermon "The Leader's Example," from Colossians 3:18-24, where we'll be encouraged to lead by the example set forth by Jesus.
Many people believe that humans can be good without evoking the presence of a higher power. That much is true. However, we should ask a few questions. First, "How do we know that we should be good?" Secondly, "Who defines what is good?" Join us this Sunday as we discover the highest form of goodness, in our sermon "The Source of Love," from 1 John 4:7-13.
In the 14th century, scientists discovered how to determine if a solution was acidic or alkaline based. The mixture of organic compounds used to indicate red for acid based solutions, and blue for alkaline, was called "Litmus". Today, we use the same term figuratively when determining the validity of someone, or something. As Christians, we have a "Litmus Test" for all things spiritual. We can test whether a spirit is from God, or from satan. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Spiritual Litmus Test," from 1 John 4:1-6.
One of the core components of a solid resume are reliable references. When listing a reference(s), it's wise to choose individuals who can vouch for your abilities, skill-set, teachability, and work ethic. A few good references might make the difference in getting hired for the position. See, this is similar to us as Christians. Jesus Christ has listed us as His reference. Our response to the authority of His name acts as a reference to the message of the Good News of Salvation! Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Believe, Love & Obey," from 1 John 3:22-24.
Corporations have trade-marks in order to distinguish themselves among competition, and/or other non-competing entities. For example, McDonald's Golden Arches, lets you know that "Big Mac's," not Burger King "Whoppers," are available to order. Also, the Golden Arches represents a burger, fries and Coca-Cola, not a Real Estate office. As Christians, we have a trade-mark, too! Our trade-mark is revealed through our love for others. So, join us this Sunday for our sermon "The Heart of Love" from 1 John 3:16-21, where we'll learn how God and others observe our love.
A well known Atheist was quoted as saying: "If God exists, then so-called knowledge of Him is based upon the irrational. Surely, He is not knowable by any objective means." Could there be any truth to this claim? Is God knowable, and if so, how do we come to know Him? Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Coming To Know God," as we discover how finite beings can know an infinite God.
Most of us have heard the idiomatic proverb: "You can't have your cake and eat it too." The meaning can be puzzling, as the grammar is a bit out of sorts. Really, it should be said like this: "You can't eat your cake, and still have it too." Why? Because once eaten, it's gone! However, no matter how it's phrased, the meaning remains the same. The proverb illustrates the idea of trade-offs; it's either this, or that. As Christians the same is true about our love for others. Either we choose to love, or hate others. Join us this Sunday as we learn where love and hate lead in our sermon, "Love One Another," as revealed in 1 John 3:11-15.
Each country and culture defines lawlessness subjectively. The same is becoming increasingly true for our American culture. This is why "Social Justice" is prevalent. So, what exactly is "Social Justice?" It's the distribution of wealth, opportunities and privileges among society. As Christians, we do not believe that the word "justice" needs an adjective. Why? Because justice is precisely just that, justice! The difference is that we view lawlessness objectively. We know that God's Word is the true standard of how to live. We know that God's justice calls us to live righteously, by loving God and others equally! We also know that the following statement by John MacArthur is true: "No temporal, political, social enterprise is a component of the saving Gospel." Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Performing Righteousness" from 1 John 3:4-10.
Conspiracy theories can be outlandish to believable, to anywhere in between. An example of an outlandish conspiracy theory would be that the "1969 Apollo Moon Landing" was faked. An example of a believable conspiracy theory would be that "Global Warming" is a real phenomenon. Therefore, no matter the categorization, J. Warner Wallace defined all conspiracies best. He said, "All conspiracies are motivated by three common factors: greed, lust and power." With this in mind, some believe that the resurrection of Jesus Christ was a conspiracy. So, was it conspired for greed, lust or power? What was the motivating factor behind the Apostle Matthew's account of the resurrection? Join us for Resurrection Sunday, and for our sermon titled "The Purest Motivation" form Matthew 28:1-20.
Many feel that being adopted carries a negative connotation. But if we really think it through, what better way can we describe true love (sacrificially meeting the needs of another)? Many adoptive parents go to great lengths; sacrificing time, energy and money to bring a stranger into their family. As Christians, we too have an adoptive Father who went to great lengths to give us the right to be called His children. Join us this Sunday for our sermon “Adopted Into His Family,” from 1 John 3:1-3.
Dr. Tony Evans uses the illustration of a sunflower to depict how we should abide, or remain in the Lord. See, sunflowers are called "sunflowers," because they follow the sun, from east to west each day. They are very productive produces of seeds, due to their constant pursuit to locate the sun. As Christians, we should constantly seek to locate the Son (S-o-n). Each day, our goal is to remain in Him. Why? Because we are sinners living in a sinful world. We need to learn how to persevere in His unchangeable Truth of eternal life. Also, we need to be ready as He will come again! Join us Sunday for our sermon "Remaining Faithful" from 1 John 2:24-29.
Many people feel like Christianity is like any other religion, It is about following a list of do's and don'ts. As Christians, we are reminded that it is about relationship and not religion. People are committed to the things they love. They will gladly give of their time, resources and lives to the things they deeply care about. They will also commit themselves to those who deeply love them. Come this Sunday as we unpack 1 John 2:12-17. Who do you love?
Skyscrapers are a testament to human engineering ingenuity. Currently, the tallest man-made structure in the world is Burji Khalifa, located in Dubai. Burji Dubai is 2,717 feet in height and can facilitate up to 12,000 people at a time. Despite human engineering marvels, like Burji Dubai, we mustn't forget that we've been in trouble for building towers in the past. What happened when man made the Tower of Babel to reach the heavens? God made it collapse, scattered the people and confused their language. What can we learn from this story? Mankind is pretty capable, but only as capable as God allows. What else can we learn? We can learn that we better consult The Lord before we make plans. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Lord Willing" from James 4:13-17.

There is much debate as to who actually invented the incandescent light bulb. However, there is no debate as to who has been given the most credit for its ingenuity-Thomas Edison. The incandescent light bulb was a game changer! It allowed for day-time events to be held at night, while also extending the work day. Since its conception, persons, places and things can now be illuminated anytime, anywhere. As Christians, we too should illuminate the light of Jesus Christ anytime, anywhere. In fact, our aspiration to do so is yet another way in which we can test the guarantee of our eternal salvation. Join us this Sunday as we gather to hear our sermon "Living In The Light" from 1 John 2:7-11.
Did you know that George Washington almost enlisted in the British Royal Navy as a midshipman at the age of 15? What prevented his enlistment? A message from his mother commanding him to return home at once! If he hadn't obeyed his mother, we may have never become the United States of America. Instead, we'd still be British America. Like George's mother, God is commanding us to obey too. Our obedience to His Truth reveals our salvation in Jesus. So, just like George Washington's obedience led him to be part of establishing the U.S., our obedience to God's command leads us to be part of advancing His Kingdom. Join us as we gather this Sunday for our sermon "Desire To Obey" from 1 John 2:3-6.
Justice can be defined as: "administering the punishment and or reward in fairness". So, what do we say? "Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time". Unfortunately, as Christians, we know that we have done a crime in which we cannot do the time. Fortunately, we have a defense attorney who superseded mere counsel. Join us as we gather this Sunday to learn more from 1 John 2:1-2 in our sermon "Our Holy Defense".
Generally speaking, no one likes to apologize. Even as children we had to be forced to do so. Why? So, we can have good loving relationships with those around us. Our relationship with God is no different. As Christians, we must recognize that we are sinners and we have a Heavenly Father that wants to bring forgiveness to our lives. Forgiveness is a part of God’s grace, mercy and love for those that put their faith in Christ for salvation. Join for our sermon this Sunday “Confession Brings Forgiveness” from 1 John 1:8-10.
How do we act when the power goes out? First we have a sudden case of amnesia, as we flip light switches to the on position forgetting there is no power. Secondly, we find an alternative source of light. As Christians, we must understand that the light has gone out on this world. We too need another source of light. Fortunately, God the Father through Jesus His Son has provided a True source of light for our path. Join us on Sunday as we learn how to test our assurance of salvation in our sermon “The Illuminated Path” from 1 John 1:5-7.
When political parties campaign, we the people are either undecided or decided as to how we will cast our vote. Those who are decided usually share their political association by attending rallies, placing signs in their yard and bumper stickers on their car. The undecided do none of the sort. Therefore, no one knows their political allegiance. Unfortunately, many Christians are similar. Do the people that you associate with know the association to which you belong? Join us this Sunday for our sermon “Proclaim Your Association” from 1 John 1:1-4.
The question at Villas Grace church is “Why re-invent the wheel?” We desire to be adaptable enough to deploy at a moments notice. We admit that we do not have it all figured out. As a church, we will always have much to learn. Therefore, we desire to partner with other organizations who can help lead us to those who need to know that Jesus is our only hope. Join us on Sunday for our sermon on Villas Grace Value 7 of 7 “We Cooperate With Our Community”.
What is truth? Truth is one of the most misunderstood and misused terms today. Is it something we create ourselves out of personal experience or is it something waiting to be discovered? Is truth absolute or is it something that changes with belief? There are many situations where the truth can mean life or death. Therefore, truth matters! Join us this Sunday as we reveal Villas Grace Value 6 of 7, "We Seek Truth".
Anyone who has planted a garden understands that patience is a virtue. Seeds are sown today to be reaped in the harvest season of tomorrow. The same is true when we give to the local church. We give our time, resources and ideas towards the mission of making followers of Jesus. What we give today will be reaped as a reward in eternity. Join us this Sunday for Villas Grace Value 5 of 7: "We Live To Give".
It's widely believed that bad habits are easy to make and hard to break. Studies theorize that our brains work on a trigger and rewards basis. So, in theory it's easy to fall into a routine, but hard to resist rewards that are either healthy or unhealthy. Now, let's compare this to raising children. As parents, it's important to establish healthy habits early. Therefore, the local church should be committed to children and students in the same manner. Early training in God's Word today, secures healthy habits for advancing God's Kingdom tomorrow. Join us this Sunday for our sermon and Villas Grace Value 4 of 7, "Committed To Children and Students."
This time of year we hear various sayings that remind us as to why we celebrate Christmas. For example: "Keep Christ in Christmas," or "Jesus is the reason for the season". See, Jesus is God's gift to humanity. He left heaven and took on human form in order to reveal God's plan of eternal salvation. In doing so, He revealed to us that God is full of grace and truth! Therefore, because of Jesus an invisible truth is now visible. So, what are we celebrating? A spiritual truth that became a physical reality. Join us this Sunday as we look at John 1:14 in our sermon "From Invisible to Visible".
Any group or entity that is successful will share common traits. They are unified and organized around a central cause. As Christians, we are no different. However, our central cause is not an idea, but a person. This person is Jesus Christ, our Savior who wants to rescue the lost and restore them to Himself. Join us this Sunday to discover Villas Grace Value 3 of 7, "We Make Followers of Jesus".
Have you ever purchased an item that requires some assembly? Sometimes the directions are clear and easy to follow, other times they're lost in translation. Step A, B, and C are followed consecutively. As you proceed to D and on to F, it becomes apparent that E was neglected. So, what do you do? Back track! How about when you're finished, but are somehow either still missing a piece, or have a few left over!? See, in the church, there is some assembly required. Fortunately, directions do not get skipped and there are no missing, or left over parts. Individually, we are the parts that comprise the local church! Join us for our sermon this Sunday as we discover Villas Grace Values 2 of 7: "No Spare Parts".
The musical, “The King and I” premiered on March 29th, 1951. Of the musical’s wonderful 21 songs, one comes to the forefront—“Getting To Know You”. The catchy phrase “Getting to know you, getting to know all about you,” represents how we as Christians should approach our relationship with Jesus. This phrase also represents how we should approach our relationships with one another. Join us this Sunday as we cover 1 of 7 Villas Grace Values in our sermon “Authentic Relationships”. We’ll learn that Christ centered relationships are what make our Savior known to others.
Radar was invented by Sir Robert Watson-Watt in 1935. By 1939 the British had established a chain of radar stations positioned along the southern and eastern coast of England in order to detect foreign aggressors. Despite the defensive advantage of this technology, aircraft could still avoid radar by flying below it. As Christians, we too have defensively positioned our radar against the aggression of our adversary. Unfortunately, the evil one is adept at flying low. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Resisting Evil's Prowl" from 1 Peter 5:1-14, as we learn how to defend against the stealthiness of satan.
Why does evil exist? Why do bad things happen to good people? These are deep theological questions. Suffering is brought up several times through out the book of 1st Peter. As Christians, we do not shy away from these questions and view them differently than the unbelieving world. Join us this Sunday as we examine 1 Peter 4:12-19 to delve deeper into this topic.
How do we verbally address a man or woman of the United States Armed Forces when they're in uniform? We typically say: "Thanks for your service!" Military persons have undergone extensive training. The training they receive equips them to serve. Christians are like military service men and woman. We have been equipped to serve too. Join us this Sunday for our sermon: "Gifted To Serve," in 1 Peter 4:7-11, as we discover how we've been given spiritual gifts by the Holy Spirit to serve one another.
Do you know what an art gallery and storefront window have in common? They're both displays that showcase a featured item. Like an artist's collection showcased at an art gallery, or a storefront's window, as Christians we're called to display something too. So, what is it that we're called to display? Grace! Join us this Sunday as we learn how God has called us to reveal His grace to others in our sermon "Grace On Display," from 1 Peter 4:1-6.
So really, what's the point of a beauty pageant? What's the point of modeling, & or creating a model? From the Miss America pageant, to the Westminster Dog Show, to a car dealership's show room model, it's really all the same. Any & all modeling is an attempt to reveal the ideal standard. Even the American dollar had an ideal standard. What was the ideal standard of the dollar until 1933? Gold! As Christians, we have a model. We have an ideal standard. But most importantly, & despite what troubles we may be going through, we have hope because of the model set before us. Join us this Sunday for our sermon: "The Gold Standard," in 1 Peter 3:18-22, where we'll learn how our optimism for the future is based on Jesus being the gold standard for dealing with pain, suffering & troubles.
We as Christians often feel uncomfortable or anxious about living in a secular culture. Are you hesitant to explain why you live for Jesus? Are you timid to share the Gospel? Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Fear Not To Do Good," to hear what 1 Peter 3:13-17 tells us about dealing with mockers and scoffers of Christianity.
