About Dr. Hoover
Dr. William Hoover is the CEO of 529 LLC and cofounder and former President of Tuatara Corporation, educational technology companies in Boston, MA. He is also the Chair of Anatomy and Physiology at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, he is an author of digital learning assets, Adaptive Learning Technologies and Digital Lab Simulators.
For the past 7 years, he has conducted digital pedagogical research under a nationally funded STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) grant. His research focuses on how students learn, and faculty most effectively teach, with emerging digital tools. In addition, for the past 5 years he has served as a Digital Faculty Consultant for McGraw-Hill, providing curricular and instructional design assistance to colleges, universities, and career programs. The design provides alignment to accrediting board standards and outcomes.
In 2011, he was chosen as one of 50 individuals across the world to speak in Oxford, England at their annual roundtable to discuss the impact of technology in higher education. He was awarded the NISOD award for teaching excellence in 2010, and in 2009 he received the Private Industry Council’s “P.I.C. Achiever Award” for helping Boston Inner City High School’s digitally align their curriculum to Boston area Colleges, so students could make a successful academic transition.

McKinley/O'Loughlin/Bidle's Anatomy and Physiology: An Integrative Approach, 4th edition brings many elements of the study of A&P together in unique ways to maximize understanding. Anatomy and physiology are covered within each chapter, emphasizing the interdependence of body systems by weaving prior coverage of one system into textual explanations of how other systems work.

3D models in Anatomy & Physiology Revealed (APR) provide students students with a great perspective and allows them to see the spatial relationship between structures they can't see in a flat image.
How might you use the Heart 3D model in your course?
- Create an assignment using the Anatomy & Physiology Revealed Connect Assignment type. Any APR Connect Assignment can include an activity that uses one of the available 3D models.
- Learn more about the APR Connect Assignment here: https://vimeo.com/492582902
- Use the “Create link” feature to bookmark an interesting view you have created with the 3D model. You can then share this link with your students or use it to quickly access this specific view of the 3D model during lecture or lab for demonstration purposes.
- Create an Active Learning Activity. A scavenger hunt makes APR even more engaging and fun. Give your students a specific task with the 3D model and ask them to copy their link and send it to you when they have completed the task. For example, you might tell them to find a view in the heart 3D model that will allow them to observe the septomarginal trabecula piercing the anterior papillary muscle.
