WRC Young Adults exists to encourage and equip college students and young professionals to grow in their walk with Jesus Christ and live out their faith in every arena of their lives. In this podcast, we hope to provide biblically-rooted, culturally-relevant content that helps you live with clarity and conviction in an age of chaos and confusion.
This month, we look at the importance of the Church from Ephesians 3. The main idea that is discussed is, "Through Christ, we are part of the most powerful living organism in existence today - the Church."
Why is that the case? How can young adults experience that statement to be true?
For the month of March, Pastor Brian dove into Ephesians 2:11-22 and what Jesus did to help us walk worthy in unity as the body of Christ.
For our February gathering, we kicked off a new semester study in the book of Ephesians. Each month, we will look at a key passage from a chapter in Ephesians. Nate Galloway joined our Young Adults by looking at Ephesians 1:3-14 and the unlimited blessings we have in Christ.
As we finish our theme on Biblical Manhood & Womanhood, we look at what leadership looks like for godly men and women. What roles does God have in store for each of them? What can leadership look like inside and outside the Church?
How the world defines maturity is different than how God defines it. If we are to grow into maturity as Godly men and women, how does that happen? We look at 1 Corinthians 13 to see what role love plays in that.
How do we make decisions? Are we spur of the moment? Planned out? Do we make decisions based on other people's opinions? This month, we continue our semester theme on Biblical Manhood/Womanhood by talking about the decisions we make and how they lead to a specific destination...either towards godliness or something else.
In Part 2 of our study of Biblical Manhood & Womanhood, we take a look at a quality that is required for any man or woman of God...humility.
We kick off a new season of Young Adult Ministry at West Ridge with a series on Biblical Manhood & Womanhood. Each month, we will explore key characteristics that help people become godly men and women.
This month, we start by looking at the thing we pursue more than anything else.
We finish our Gospel Transformation series by looking at the freedom that the Gospel brings.
On this special Easter week gathering, we look at the authority Jesus had during his final meal with his disciples and how he used that to set an example for us. We challenge the room to respond to this statement, "As a follower of Jesus, I have been given all authority, so I ___________."

When it comes to truth, how should we live? As followers of Jesus, how does the Gospel transform our understanding and commitment to truth? This month, we look at this important topic and what Jesus says about Himself.
This semester, our theme is Gospel Transformation. The Gospel is good news, not just that Jesus died and rose from the dead, but in every aspect of how we live as believers. To be truly transformed by the Gospel, we experience the good news of how following Jesus changes everything.
In February, we talk about how the good news of the Gospel brings forgiveness of our past, present, and future. We live each day in the power of knowing that we are “a great sinner but Christ is a great Savior.” That forgiveness then drives us to forgive others in the same way.
We finish our look this semester at what Jesus says about what matters by talking about identity. How did Jesus find his identity, how did the enemy attack that, and how does that impact us today?
For our Friendsgiving Young Adult Gathering in November, we spent the night talking about gratitude, what Jesus said about it, and how we can live a life filled with gratitude.
In the midst of a divisive political season and the election of a new President, how can we as Christians navigate politics with a Biblical worldview and our faith intact? Should we engage in politics? If so, how? And what does Jesus say about it all?
In our September gathering, we discuss the question, "What is the mission of your life?" What does Jesus say about that and how can we live that out?

One of the core questions of humanity (and your life) is "What is my purpose?" or to ask it another way "What is my calling?" In today's episode, we want to give you a biblical worldview for calling. Maybe you're anxious because you feel like you're missing out on your purpose. Maybe you feel like a failure because you were told you needed to change the world or do something important but you work a normal job. Maybe you've heard you're supposed to make disciples at your job but don't know what that looks like in your context. Maybe you're just a student and feel like you're calling is on hold until you get your degree. Guess what: God isn't hiding your calling from you and He isn't trying to confuse you. He wants you to flourish and fulfill your God's designed purpose. We hope today's episode sets you free and gives you clarity and confidence.

What if you don't sense a call to "full-time vocational ministry"? How can we live on mission here and now in our everyday lives? In this episode, we are joined by Tyler Godfrey and Kayla McDonald who not only lead YA Groups here but also led our GenSend Boston team this summer. GenSend's mission is to help develop "everyday, spirit-led missionaries" who view their neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, etc. as potential ground for God to move. Tyler and Kayla share a bit about their experience, what they learned, and how they've seen God use it here at home.

All throughout Scripture and human history, we see God's heart for the world. He desires for His glory to be seen and known among the nations (Ps. 46:10) and that none would perish but all would come to the knowledge of the Truth (1 Tim. 2:3-6). But what can that practically look like in our every day lives? In today's episode, we are joined by our good friend "Reuben" who spent the past two years serving in Russia, Turkey, and Kazakhstan specifically among unreached groups with little to no access to the Gospel. Our goal is to share his journey and experiences and discuss we can support the global mission of God in our everyday lives within the local church.

We decided to cancel episode three of "The Bible never said..." to talk about a compelling and potentially controversial topic: Revival. This has been a trendy topic of late and we've seen the word "revival" tossed around quite a bit. What is revival? Why do need it? How do we get it? When do we know it's happening? We want to bring some much-needed clarity to the conversation and cast a compelling vision for revival for our community in these days.

This is the second of three episodes discussing things we often hear (or say) that are actually never seen in Scripture. Today's topic is: "The Bible never said that we must live an extraordinary life." Far too often, we see cultural pressures dressed in cheap theology and this is one of them. It's easy to dress the pressures of greatness and influence in missional language that positions Jesus as the mascot for our own selfish ambition. Today's conversation poses the question: "What kind of life has Jesus called us to live?" Our hope and prayer is that you are set free from pressures and expectations placed on you (maybe even in the name of Jesus) so that you may rest in the "blessed" life God calls you to in His upside-down, inside-out Kingdom.

We make our resolutions with all the best intentions and sincerest motivations but why? What is it about this moment—the flipping of the calendar page—that makes us do this year after year? It’s the belief that we can change;that our lives don’t have to stay the way they are; that we don’t have to stay the way we are.

In this week's episode, we continue in our series on the spiritual disciplines by discussing the Christian's call to give (specifically financially). The relationship between humanity and money is a difficult one. In today's market-driven and materialistic society, it's hard to know how Christians are supposed to relate to money. Are we supposed to fear it? Are we supposed to hate it? Are we supposed to pursue it? Thankfully, this isn't unique or new to us. This is a conversation Jesus had many times throughout his life and ministry. Rather than avoiding this conversation, we want to allow Jesus to shape and direct us on what it means to be good stewards of what He has given us.

Maybe you're like us and often feel as if your prayers are hitting the ceiling. Maybe you struggle to even start praying at all. We know that God calls us to pray but why? If He's God and He's just going to do His will anyway, then why does praying even matter? In this week's episode, we wrestle through all these questions and how God's Word instructs us to respond. Prayer can be difficult for a host of reasons but the reward of prayer is life-changing in the way God uses it to transform our hearts and make us more like His Son.

You have no choice: we are all being formed by something. However, you can choose who/what you are formed by. We are all becoming someone. Jesus invites us to become someone healthy and whole but this doesn't happen by accident. There is a kind of spiritual resistance and rebellion we must have against the ways and pace of this world in order for us to be formed by the One who designed us and loves us. This takes discipline, courage, and intentionality... but through Christ and by His spirit, it is possible. Today's podcast is the first of a series of conversations through Spiritual Disciplines that resist the ways of the world and form us to be more like Jesus. This episode will focus on the rhythm of silence and solitude.

One of the common fears amongst the followers of Jesus in our generation is legalism. We believe a lot of this derives from a misunderstanding of what biblical obedience is and the role it should play in our lives. In this episode, we want to take the time to actually define legalism and answer a few questions. What does it mean that Jesus has set us free from the law? Is there any expectation or reason we should prioritize obedience in our lives if we're under grace? If we no longer have to fear punishment, then why should we even obey? The fact of the matter is the Gospel shouldn't take away our desire to obey but actually inspire and empower us to obey.

Over the next few weeks, we are going to talk through some theological terms. As we've read through the New Testament this year we've seen words like "justification", "sanctification", "regeneration", and many more. It's easy to read these words and gloss over them, deeming them as unimportant or assuming we get the general meaning... but the fact of the matter is they carry so much weight to the beauty of what it means to be in Christ and the benefits that come with it! Today, we're asking the question: "What is justification?" In short, it is defined as "an act of God whereby He declares a sinner to be righteous" but how does God do this? What does this mean for us? How does this change or impact our daily lives? The word "justified" is mentioned throughout 14 books and over 39 times throughout Scripture so we should obviously lean in and pay attention to what it means!

According to Harvard, 61% of young adults experience feelings of "extreme loneliness" and it seems our society is only growing more and more isolated every day. What does God's Word say about community? Do we even need it? If so, what is it supposed to look like and how do we find it (or build it)? Heaven is one of the most discussed, but misunderstood topics in all of life and faith. Many people have thoughts and views about Heaven passed down through tradition that are often more shaped by culture than they are by Scripture. Maybe you're guilty of it. We know we are. Someone comes up to you and asks, "How are you?" And before you even know it, the words have already left your lips: "Busy." But does that really have to be how life feels? In this episode, join us as we discuss the spirit of busyness that plagues our culture and generation. Why do we deal with this? There's a tension in all of us when it comes to engaging with a culture and people who think, live, and believe differently than we think, live, and believe, but that's exactly what Jesus has called us to do as His spirit-filled followers. We are called to be influencers of culture, not just spectators or judges of it. No matter who you are, where you're at, or what season of life you are in, God has you where He has you to advance the Gospel through you. This week's episode unpacks what exactly "culture" is and means, what the heart of Jesus is for the culture, and how we (as His followers) are to engage with the culture for the sake of the Gospel.

The WRC Young Adults Podcast exists to encourage and equip college students and young professionals to grow in their walk with Jesus Christ and live out their faith in every arena of their lives. We hope to provide biblically-rooted and culturally-relevant content to challenge you and help you grow and navigate life and faith in your twenty’s so you can live with clarity and conviction in this age of chaos and confusion.
Part of adulthood is figuring out what you believe and why you believe it. However, there are both unhealthy and healthy ways to do this. "Deconstruction" is a hot-button topic these days, but what does God's Word say about it? How do we navigate the nuances of belief in a healthy way that doesn't lead to the demolition or destruction of our faith but rebuilds it and helps it grow and flourish in the way God intended? Join us as our YA Director, Blake Odgers, helps us figure out how to do this in a healthy, biblical way.
