They will be asked how they see themselves in 10 years so will see who’s a psycho … psychic sorry, no need to wait that long to see the other one. And we don’t forget to be a little emotional too.

Kīwaha? What is it and why is it so important to the survival of the Māori language? Professor Wharehuia Milroy describes kīwaha as a unique language expression derived from the personal learning experience of the author during an event. It may make no sense to anyone else but the author, their immediate family, or people. Kīwaha can be termed as an informal language tool, slang or idiom that expresses the emotional state of a speaker.
In support of the revitalisation of the Māori language, we have selected 10 kīwaha from Ngā Rauru, Whanganui and Taranaki. These are all presented using our Māori language and our special mita (rhythm). That is the “h” is not strongly enunciated when Taranaki, Whanganui and Ngā Rauru speak.
Today’s kīwaha is “Tae paakoro mai” Its English equivalent is, to arrive dragging one’s boots, or to arrive looking tired or burdened with something
E hoa kua tae mai taku mokopuna? Āe tahi no aia ka tae paakoro mai. “My friend has my grandson arrived yet?” “Yes, he just arrived looking rather worn.”

Today’s kīwaha is “Ka mutu pea!”. Its English equivalent can be termed as, Excellent, awe-some, outstanding.
“Ka mutu pea tēnei huihuinga rangatahi!” “What an excellent young people’s symposium!”

Outline: Mana wahine “is an approach to an initiative or project that places Māori women, and the primary concerns of Māori women, at its centre”. How does it manifest itself, what does it look like, feel like, sound like. How do we get mana, what does it mean to be wahine in this day and age. We define and outline what it means.
What’s the difference? Does feminism differ from mana wāhine, how does it differ? What are the issues surrounding feminism for wāhine māori in modern day Aotearoa?
Outline: How do they balance/influence/compliment each other? What has tradition taught us about their roles going into the future? Guest Speaker: Josh Te Kani
Outline: My mum and aunty Orewa had the biggest influence on my current self. In this podcast I talk about the things they taught me about being mana wahine.
Outline: I talk to Neola Cairns who is coming back to Te Ao Māori as an adult, and what that journey has been like for her. Guest Speaker: Neola Cairns
The story of Niwareka and Mataora. What does their story have to teach us, how has their story affected the way wāhine māori are treated comparatively in traditional and modern times.
Outline: What’s happening in that space? Jacinda Ardern and Grant Robertson have announced a new initiative to encourage more women and girls into sport, create more opportunities and ensure more visibility of our wahine athletes.
Outline: Several wahine maori politicians are in parliament, and the first, first nation wāhine have been elected to congress, it seems in this Trump era, the people are moving toward acknowledging the effects of colonisation on indigenous nations all around the world
I explore sexual identity and the different whakaaro around gender, sexuality, from a māori perspective
Outline: We see a lot of people wearing their “mana wāhine” t-shirts and merchandise, but how many people understand the concept past the superficial surface understanding?

Life-Cycle Series Episode Eight - Disposal
Reduce, reuse, recycle. It's what we have ingrained in us and it's what we need. Donate to charity do NOT put it in the bin (unless in an unwearable condition of course). Or how about we just reduce what we buy altogether?
Our worldly crisis of global warming and pollution is out of control with many industries (and people) contributing to this while we do nothing about it. I love the textile industry but it is the second largest polluter in the world right next to oil. We ignore this (even myself) and we produce or we buy our clothes from fast fashion industries because is cheap, it’s fast and the feeling of purchasing something releases endorphins that make us so happy! So we do it again and again and again until there will be nothing left.
I am making this podcast series so that you as a designer, consumer or entrepreneur in the textile industry can get all the do’s and don'ts so that you are wearing the label of “Completely Sustainable” in your thoughts, wardrobe or store.
I want you to think about a products whole life-cycle with the Priti Ugli mindset so that the decisions you make have been thoroughly thought about - with the Priti vs the Ugli of a purchase being considered.
Each episode I delve into the chapters of a garments life-cycle and how we make this cycle Completely sustainable and what brands are reaching into a stage.

Life-Cycle Series Episode Seven - Garment Use
Buy smarter, not cheaper! The three main points from today: buy durability; buy bio-degradable; and lastly, buy timelessness.

Life-Cycle Series Episode Six - Retail
Today I talk about the basics of how to make a retail store more ethical. It's important to remember that consumers create demand, suppliers create supply. This means that (as consumers) we have the power to control product production and what product is in our stores.
