Each month, label boss Dave Richards brings you some of the most unique house and techno out today. Each show bristles with upcoming MK837 tracks, the latest promos for deserving labels and some classics or soon to be classics. Pair Dave’s hour 1 mix up with a guest mix from a deserving selector and you’ve got a power house of uniqueness only a lion/eagle creature such as Mark could appreciate… with a side of prime rib.
Welcome to Season 9 of Uniquely Yours! It’s hard to believe that it’s been 9 years already, but it has. This month is one of many genres and sounds. We’re going to feature the latest MK837 track and go back to at least 2017, but realistically all the way back to the early 2000 with Way Out West’s Stealth. We’ll start out nice and fluffy with some deep house and quickly move on into techno and ultimately… progressive house. It’s July. Half the year is officially gone now, America is celebrating her 250th birthday this week, my wife is out of town for the week, and this is… the season finale of Uniquely Yours’ 8th season.
Over the season, you’ve heard guest mixes from J Lauda, Space Native, and Smauel Zamora, ou’ve heard me fumble through various voice overs, and I’ve given you 9 stellar mixes featuring the finest tracks MK837 has to offer alongside classics, promos, and more. OH… and then there was the ultrarare bonus episode in December. I also said goodbye to my Razer Blade 15 this season. It just couldn’t keep up with life anymore.

Well, as happens from time to time, Dave got caught up in a huge mess and is working his way through it. So this month, we’ve got a guest mix for Uniquely Yours. More importantly, this one is from the archives of our Patreon exclusive podcast, The Guest List.
Each month on the guest mix, we feature a new set from one of MK837’s artists or friends. Our artists are encouraged to take things deeper and longer with many shows running past the one-hour mark. We also gather to listen to the initial stream if the mix too, so it’s a bit of a social hour.

Here we are again on the start of a new month and with that returns Dave Richards with another Uniquely Yours. Dave’s a bit stressed out this month. His laptop died or refused to cooperate for the last time and now it’s awaiting a swift kick to the curb. He’s picked up a last-minute replacement (and upgrade) and somehow pulled this show together… so you better like it! Just kidding.
This one is unique though. In addition to the new laptop, Dave has picked up an Ableton Move – which is like the Push 3’s smaller kid brother. The thing is though, Dave thinks like the Push and Ableton Live, so unlike with Maschine+ or the Akai Force, he’s deeply connected to it already. So, keep an ear open. Dave has layered in some extra percussion and synths.

Well, we’re changing things up this month with Uniquely Yours. If things go well, this will become the norm. We’re going to post simultaneously to YouTube through Proton Radio AND do a Live Drop on Patreon. Happy New Year! Dave Richards is back again with another mix of various beats, sweeps and creeps. This month is bit different from the last as Dave has swapped out his trusty Traktor S4 MK3 controller for a Tracktor S5 controller. It’s time to switch things up a bit and see anything new emerges. If you have no clue about what an S4 or an S5 is, don’t worry. If anything, you shouldn’t notice a difference.

Well, this is embarrassing. When I recorded the December Uniquely Yours, I knew there were some stupid DJ errors. I THOUGHT that I had corrected them all in editing – which I don’t like to do, but I did. But as I was doing the weekly grocery shopping at Walmart (because my family is high class), I noticed that I not only missed one of the more grievous mistakes, but that the recording seemed to slow to a crawl whenever I applied basic FX.
Honestly, the whole mix is an embarrassment in my opinion. If you liked it, good. I’m glad you did. The truth is, that I was stressed, short on time and apparently my laptop needed medical attention.
Speaking of which, I finally clued in that I’m still running on a Windows 11 laptop and not a Macbook Pro. So, I took a moment yesterday to remove unnecessary software, update all the drivers and patch the OS. I did a test mix after that and well… I think it worked out well. I was able to play 4 decks with FX and I don’t think there was a single issue.

Well, life caught up with me again. This week I’m dealing with a twisted knee and while I could probably still sit and DJ, I just don’t want to. I’m cranky and in pain. Hopefully, by the time you read this, all of that will have been dealt with medically. This whole thing is a shame because it’s the start of Uniquely Yours’ 8th year. So, without me, you’ll have to have a substitute teacher and today… that’s J Lauda!J Lauda is one of the MK837 artists and has collaborated with me on several projects. Our latest collaboration was on a track called “The Path.” Our limited success there was totally dwarfed this past month by his latest release on Univak because his track Lifeline hit #8 on the Beatport Progressive House Top 100. Specifically, it was the Hernan Cattaneo & Simply City Extended Remix. It’s a great track, so feel free to check it out.WHO IS J LAUDA?:Growing up in Buffalo, NY, he had the benefit of Toronto being just an hour away. Here, he was able to witness the explosion of a world class dance scene. On a more local level, he also was able to experience the fertile electronic underground of which swept Buffalo by storm. These experiences have left an imprint that still helps shape his sound today, leading to a string of well- received singles and remixes on Pangea Recordings, SLC-6 Music, Massive Harmony, Slideways, MK837, Polyptych and Cable Recordings. It’s the last episode of Season 7 here on Unqiuely Yours. It’s also pretty much an all house show with everything ranging from organic to funky to tech to progressive to melodic house. This month is all about house. Well, it normally is, but this one turned out to be housier than usual. It’s a fun, but flawed set. I was pressed for time and made a couple of mistakes. The year is drawing close to an end. It’s hard to understand just how fast 2023 has flown by. There’s only one more episode until we ring in 2024.
That said, this is the next to last episode of the year and it’s a banger! Dave starts us out with a bit of progressive house, but quickly moves into minimal / deep tech and ultimately into Latin tech / tribal house and even a bit of acid house. He’s also upped the tempo a good bit, so it’s a barnstormer.
One word of caution for those with sensitive ears, Dave doesn’t speak Spanish. That will become painfully clear at some point during this set if you do. It was too far in to start over and far gone by the time Dave realized it. It happens to the best of us.

It’s our last show of the year and nearly the last day of the year as well! This time Dave plays on the heart strings a bit. It’s roughly 90 minutes of nothing but MK837 and CLASSIC Hooj Choons tracks. Hooj has always been Dave’s favorite label and honestly, it’s been the inspiration for much of the MK837 sound. One of the things that made me extremely happy last year was the rebirth of Hooj Choons. I can’t stress how much their sound influences me even to this day. And if the label’s resurrection wasn’t enough, we’ve now got a new remix of one of my all-time favorite tracks, Roaches by Trancesetters. Now, it’s not better than say the Peace Division Remix, but just getting a new remix is awesome. Oh, did I mention this mix has that new remix in it? Well, I did now.

He recently remixed Krampelli’s These Thoughts which came out earlier this year on MK837 and has literally stolen the show with it. Intro: Funny things happen when you resort the tracks on Beatport to oldest to newest instead of newest to oldest. In Dave’s case, he found out that Beatport’s database shows the first tech house track is from 1970! Obviously, something is wrong at Beatport, but he runs with it anyway in his set.

Welcome to the holiday season. We hope your Thanksgiving was filled with great food, good fun and a reflection on all the blessings this year has brought. I hope you’re looking forward to the rest of the holiday season and have plans to spend it with friends and family.

If there’s one thing this podcast has been consistent about, it’s been going beyond its two-hour run time. Dave is this month’s sole culprit. His opening set is a blistering 95 minutes. Moving from house to techno and back, the groove just never stops.

We’re back again with round 2! Uniquely Yours is all about unique house and techno and this month, we’ve got that in spades.
Dave starts the show off by bringing another slamming mix. Starting off with a deeper “classic” sound, Dave builds his set up into a frenzy of acid house delight. Dave doesn’t sport any MK releases this month in his set. He left that honor to the guest DJ.
Our first guest is New York based DJ/producer Krampelli. He’s had releases over the years on WHITE RCRDS, Sciencehouse, Matilda and more. This month however, marks his first release with MK837. His track Stimulus releases on August 17th and is supported by a remix from Bogard. You won’t want to miss this.
