Poppy has been riding since the age of two and has since then gone on to compete and train in various fields, including dressage, working equitation and show jumping. However, her favourite ‘discipline’ is working with and starting young horses. Poppy is also an advocate for strength and condition to improve your riding and, whilst horseless at uni, this led her into competitive powerlifting on an international stage. Space & science has always been something that captured poppy from a young age. Despite dropping out during her A-levels to go and train dressage in Portugal, poppy found her way back into education and is now set on becoming an astronaut!

Bex Hayward is the creator and owner of The Wide Boot Company which launched in late 2019. After struggling to buy attractive, quality riding boots for her muscular calves, she set about designing boots to fit those who are not catered for elsewhere. The WBC range now includes various width and height fittings and also clothing designed for curvier physiques including some competition wear. "A Year On" - Nicky from Woodwick Farm-Equine physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre has been working with Flying Changes Mindset for over a year now and even became one of our Brand Ambassadors in 2020. We find out what working on Mindset and being part of a team of likeminded riders has done for Nicky both in and out of the saddle. Nicky is an equine physiotherapist, dressage rider, livery yard owner, mum, wife and Gigi (step granny!) Over the years Nicky has also had many other titles, yard hand, instructor, accountant, office manager and property developer. Her heart always been with the horses and now, thanks to the full support of her husband John, they have built from scratch thier own equestrian centre. They currently have horses in for rehabilitation, schooling, starting and a few permanent livery clients for are like the little Woodwick Family. Nicky is a very competitive person and has competed BS, BE and BD. She doesn't leave the ground much anymore (unless for fun) and after years of buying project horses to bring on and compete she now has her own homebred horses, competing at Advanced Medium on the eldest and Novice/Elementary on the youngster.

When you’re from a non-horsey family and all you can dream about is horses – you have to get creative! Louise has built her entire life and career around achieving her aspirations of owning horses! There have been high highs and very low lows on that journey, all of which have shaped her into who she is today. She has gone from college drop-out, to having a glittering corporate career, then from unemployed to successful entrepreneur. Trauma - the unspoken truth. With Julia Fairfax. Trauma is at the root of most issues in humans and horses. Anxiety, depression, stress, worry, etc are all side effects of unhealed trauma which in humans often dates back to childhood and in horses to invariably being handled inappropriately and moved from pillar to post. Amanda Birch is a choreographer and musical arranger, working in the equestrian sector. Bert is a Canadian Paralympian, International Grade 3 Para-Equestrian dressage rider. She also competes in able-bodied British Dressage competitions, so far, up to Advanced Medium level and training up to Grand Prix. Bert is currently on the Equestrian Canada National Team Program. So far in her career she has competed as part of the Canadian team at the 2018 World Equestrian Games, 2016 Rio Paralympics and finished 4th Individually at the 2014 World Equestrian Games.

As a teenager, Rebekah was an elite swimmer, fitting her studies and life around training and competing but this didn’t leave room for horses! Having never grown out of being that ‘pony mad kid’, Rebekah finally realised her dream aged 27 to own her very own horse. Realising she really didn’t know anywhere near as much as she thought she did she needed to re-learn everything, and is still on that journey now. Competition has always been a part of her life and now she competes at British Eventing Novice level and is still fitting her life and work around sport! For Swedish Under 25 rider Nathalie Wahlund, the year 2020 has been a hinge year in her budding career as a professional dressage rider. After a four year stay in Great Britain, she left the UK right before Brexit and found employment at a new, inspiring yard in Luxembourg. Coming from a non-horsey background, she started riding at the local riding school in Stockholm when she was 5 and rode through her teenage years.After graduating from high school and before picking up Law at University, she took a gap year which turned out to be life-defining. Nathalie and Cerano Gold made their CDI debut in Hickstead in July 2018 at Young Riders' level and half a year later tackled the Under 25 Grand Prix for the first time at the 2019 CDI Nieuw en St. Joosland. Their solid scores led to a Swedish team nomination for the 2019 European Under 25 Championships.

Tia Ikonen is an 18 year old showjumper from the UK currently living in Ireland. Tia had a tough few years with complicated ponies, school and a lot of cyber bullying and although she tried giving up horses, she couldn’t find anything to replace them. Now Tia has become an international showjumper, competing in both Belgium and Portugal and has progressed from jumping unregistered 1m classes to stepping up to FEI 1.20m and 1.30m classes in less than a year with the help of a super horse and an amazing support network.
