Today's Scenarios was quite trivial: The first one painted a picture of a very tough relationship, where the father ends in jail, with Kids invovlved, would you let your Kid invovled? The second scenario is basically dead-beat dad, how extreme would you be to protect your child?

Hey Afrolit Fam, we decided to ask the controversial question that's probably been on everyone's mind at some point. It's even MORE pressing to now have conversations with black men to get their take and we decided to take things up a notch and have the first AFROLIT DEBATE to argue the statement:
All men above the age of 18 have assaulted and/or have witnessed or been told about an assault but remained silent within the situation.
We discussed:
Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network's (RAINN) definition of sexual assault
Power dynamics between men and women
Why men need more emotional intelligence
Believing women FIRST, before stories come
Can African's truly separate sex from culture and religion?
How we HAVE to have this conversation outside and it can't stop here!

Hey Afrolit Fam, this week we started a new series topic on the MISCONCEPTIONS AND TABOOS WITHIN AFRICAN CULTURE. When you think about Taboos within our culture, what the first thing that comes to mind? Yup, we went there! We talked about Sex, Intimacy and everything in between with our FIRST GUEST of Season 3 @Pendajai ! Penda is a Senegalese-American NYU Tisch School of the Arts graduate, and former professional dancer currently expressing herself through words and storytelling. After her mom gave her her first vibrator for Christmas, she created the brand Pro Hoe®️ to eradicate stigmas surrounding sexual freedom and identity in Black communities. She is hyper-focused on using sex and taboo as a means of political change and resistance! We discussed: - How she got her start from dancer to writer, a fledged artist@ - Being hyper sexualized as dark-skinned women and colorism getting its roots from slavery - If sexual education is sexist and gendered, especially for black girls - When to give our children "the talk" - When we discovered intimacy for ourselves - How to create comfortable spaces We would love to hear YOUR VOICE! -How to set boundaries for your own mental health, regardless of what family/loved ones say
-The importance for solid friendships
-Dating as a young entrepreneur
-Advice on how to stop overthinking and get it done!
Tell us your thoughts? How do you protect your mental health?

Title by Renata Ngaiza. Happy March! This conversation is long overdue but Josephine and I decided to talk about why ALL social media should simply be a MARKETING TOOL! Very few are being authentic in their purpose so it we just discussed how social media affects us, if we been scammed on IG and what we are doing differently with our channels. Fomo culture is the biggest scam, if there too many photos of the function: It wasn't that much fun, trust us!

Hey Afrolit Squad ! Happy February! This month's theme (yes--that's a thing we're doing now) is LOVE! In this episode, we continued our conversation except we delved into interracial dating, if we can entertain men outside of our own culture, the different stereotypes of white men and how they receive black women. We also examined the question: is it EASIER to date white women over black women.

Hey Afrolit Family! Happy New Year!! We know it's been a minute since we had a new episode, as we were mentally, physically and spiritually recharging for this new year! I had to hold down the fort solo as Bobo continues to live her BEST life, but she'll be back soon! I had the pleasure of being with Renata Ngaiza, my very dear friend studying Anthropology at the New School. We discussed how our relationship came to be, why taking time off school might be the best decision for your overall health and why its SO important to be introspective.
