Fractal revamp, 1 week postmortem-
I thought rewards were good because I got real lucky day 1. Have gotten garbage every day since =(
The worst part is that on a lot of days I get the same or less gold as Swamps gave but it takes probably twice as long.
Some high level fractals are just obnoxious still, doubly so with PUGs. IMO- Aetherblade can be especially bad, snowblind is still not great though the final boss of it is easy but has 10 billion HP, Thaumanova is unfun. Most of the rest are alright though. Overall it’s probably the right direction, but it just reminds me how annoying some stuff still is.

A Wintersday Carol Bent behind a window a figure in the night lost in thoughts and paperwork next to a candle light The Charr despised as always this time of the year He spent his time with none to talk and no one held him dear Alone in his frustration when suddenly appeared The Spirit of the Winter-past to show him what he feared A little cub was lectured on how he’d be of use To manage to survive he must There’s nothing to excuse Those pictures faded gently and now in front of him the Spirit of the days ahead to show him what he’d dream He saw himself being covered in piles of gems and gold The other toys a tear shed for he has now been sold So, what’s in store toymaker for this malfunctioned Charr? Cause all I managed to foresee is yet another scar Don’t you leave your present lurking in your past The only thing that you can be is who you ought to trust

I have no complicated thoughts beside “neato”. Was too busy PAXing. My head was spinning. I can barely handle regular thief gameplay! It’s the thief I wanted but maybe not the one we need right now.
Physical skills with turnovers are really cool! I see value to it in small skirmishes and open world PvE, and maybe even in raids! It depends on how much damage is relevant. The current meta (which happens to align perfectly with my favored build after the spec changes) has three required traitlines, so the damage/utility tradeoff is going to have to be strong. And I hope it is! But I worry. I see benefits to taking the skills as a whole and benefits to taking them piecemeal which is EXCELLENT. That’s spot on where an elite spec should be IMHO

RCGC AKA THE R-WORD
Hard to tell a lot from just the trailer, but a few standouts 10-man. I think this is a good number. More than dungeons, but not TOO many. Requires some degree of masteries. Interesting discussion on mastery gating vs gear gating? Thoughts? Attunements by another name, a lot of people are seeing through the “no attunements” but having this I can see where they’re making the distinction though, masteries are something you will be attaining organically as you play HoT, not something separate that you have to complete for the sole purpose of being able to enter a raid. Legendary Armor? Good lord. Time to destroy my bank all over again.

"hello relics! Greibach, Spirit, possibly Evee, and anyone else who may be on the show!
I find that I want to play devils advocate about the discussion on last weeks show about fractals, and specifically on builds and build diversity.
I want to touch on the statement that "builds are so tightly tied to the gear stat choice." this is true in a way, but also just as false.
there are currently 5 major things that are affected by the stats on armor. "direct damage", "condition damage", "Heal scaling", "overall HP", and "damage reduction through toughness"
there is some intricacy with precision because of stuff that procs on crit, but for all intents and purposes it only really affects "direct damage" same with ferocity
everyone is pretty familiar with the "berzerker meta" and what it entails, and that you do not currently need to equip defensive stats because of the power of hard mitigation that has no ties to stats (blind, reflect, weakness, protection) and that if mobs/bosses die faster than their mechanics, those mechanics can be ignored.
this is where scaling toughness and precision come into play. in general higher toughness encourages condition focused builds(more on this later).
higher precision, and even higher power and ferocity encourages something that is not tied to any stat. which is upkeep of the weakness condition, and the protection boon. weakness takes the crit chance of those affected by it to 0% and causes 50% of strikes to be "glancing blows which further reduces damage by 50% effectively negating any precision or ferocity and ~33% of the targets power stat. protection is a flat damage reduction by 33% which is like adding a whole ton of toughness.
while organized groups tend to build for 100% upkeep of weakness already, many wannabe Zerker speed runners leave weakness out of their build consideration.
OK. now for the long and the short of it. I claim that build diversity is much more than just the prefix of the armor weapons and trinkets on a character. that it is in fact partially negligible the build is the type of weapons, the chosen utilities, traits, and to a lesser extent runes and sigils. personally I run 3-4 very different builds on the same gear set. all are full damage but bring very different utility to cover gaps that may form in different PuG group I may run with, for example more weakness, or more blinds, or more CC or reflects all achieved by swapping weapon wets, traits, and utility skills
the stats from gear can change alot about a build but only "power damage" "condition damage" and "healing power" seem to be currently meaningful outside of some trolly overly tanky nomads or sentinel builds in wvw.
the only meaningful stat choice as of right now is "direct damage" gear or "condition damage" gear. because the changes to conditions so that they are effectively "working as intended" (ignoring extremes) basically e...

Bramble Patch: Stronkhold: Champion’s Dusk It’s a fusion of GvG, Fort Aspenwood, and MOBAs Two lanes, one defense, one offence, ending at the keeps, and then a central supply point spend supply to build NPC’s which have specific roles - door busters, other NPC killers, in order to break through two layers of defense Heroes - 10 second channel to summon the uber NPC, there was a cannon dude that used his weapon melee and ranged that was really cool to watch There are two barriers you have to break through to get to the lord, and the NPCs don’t respawn so big pushes towards the end are supposed to be exciting The Keep Lord has a downed state - must be finished to end the match and can rally off players The final number of players on each side hasn’t been decided yet, it will be between 1v1 and 10v10 and based off of feedback in the betas, but primarily tested in 5v5 Seems to open up the potential for a lot of different roles, one of the disappointments of Conquest is that since they are all cap points essentially the same roles are happening on 3 different points There’s a really great Ready Up Episode all about it New/Updated Boons + Conditions: Taunt: Forces the enemy to run at you and autoattack (opposite of fear). The map objectives are working really well so they want to keep rolling with them During the day you build defenses, capture areas, and gather supplies to prepare for the night Mordrem assault only 50% of queensdale events were about the humans vs centaurs fight There are sub-factions and characters in outposts and they will keep moving throughout the zones so you get to learn their story capturing an outpost will last an hour+ for a more permanent feel doing more events around a captured outpost will unlock waypoints, adventures, resource farms, etc.
Adventures
The successor to hearts, meant to challenge the way you play Shooting gallery, jumping puzzles, races Personal repeatable challenges w/ leaderboards masteries help beat them you can restart them instantly fewer maps with HoT but really in depth ones
Revenant Icon Warrior F2 Skill? New event/patch - Year of the Ram? “Defiant Bar” WvW may be excluded from Map Completion Bonus episode of POI Wednesday to show masteries and hang gliding and mushroom jumping
Blogpost: Masteries Reimagined - http://dulfy.net/2015/02/05/gw2-reimaging-progression-the-mastery-system/
Masteries are unlocked at level 80 - changes your XP bar and displays the Mastery level instead of your actual level on your nameplate Level 80 characters won’t get skill points anymore, but more will be added to the world to compensate Mastery points will be found all over, personal story completion, map completion, challenges, exploration Can be gained before 80 but not spent til 80 Some mastery points will be awarded retroactively Master Lore: Attunement with new ally races can be trained to understand their language, unlocking secret locations and access to battle techniques that can weaken your shared enemies. Master Legends: Train in legendary crafting to learn to create all existing legendary weapon precursors and new legendary weapon precursors introduced with Heart of Thorns. Master Exploration: Mastering jungle movement will unlock the ability to hang glide to previously unreachable locations as well as the ability to use special mushrooms to traverse the Heart of Maguuma faster. Master Combat: The Heart of Maguuma will be home to some of the most challenging combat inGuild Wars 2, and Masteries will give you the tools you need to excel in these fights. Hunt new enemies, master abilities to defeat champions, and become more deadly against the new creatures waiting in the jungle. Master Fractals: Uncover new depths in the Fractals of the Mists to gain powerful new abilities to overcome difficult fractal challenges, garner greater rewards, and unlock more powerful infusions. When you train the Gliding Mastery, however, you’ll have the option to soar freely through the treetops, escape the dangers that await you on the jungle floor, use the air to your advantage in combat against certain foes, and save yourself from accidental death by slipping. Once you’ve unlocked the Gliding Mastery track, you can pull out your glider any time you’re in free fall in the Heart of Maguuma. When you first pull out your glider, you’ll notice that you have a limited amount of energy while in the air. Be careful—if you run out of energy while gliding, your glider will collapse and you’ll be in for a rough landing!

I was had a Cornoa this episode. Enjoy and some crap. The listening is good, time for more.
I’m joined by Tasha with Split Infinity Radio and Tigerfeet with Secret Agent Cat to make an episode. By brute force. And we spoke of nothing GW related. At least we meant to do it that way, this time. Windows 7 did not play friendly with Tigerfeet’s mic, but Csquirrel came through for us and adjusted the call in a fashion that had to have been extremely tedious. Big thanks to him.
We are joined by Tasha with Split Infinity Radio, Chaz, and Kattar with Guild Fans to discuss news about energy, elites, and ton(ne)s of news outside the Guild Wars community.
Yes, the title is mostly intended to garner attention from search engines. We don’t actually have the answer to this. But we do talk about it.

Chas, Tigerfeet, Tasha from Split Infinity Radio and I talk about the definition of “pants”, indecent paragons, high school wrestling, and just about anything else that would highlight our inability to stay on target, said target being Guild Wars Classic and Guild Wars 2 information and speculation.
Chas, Tigerfeet, John from the Guild Wars 2 Forum website, and I accidentally an ulnar nerve, is this bad? We target pronunciation of some ArenaNet common names, bust some Blizzard chops, and guide you on how not to conduct an interview with Joey “Joe Hostile” Knight.
Most of our talk is about rangers in this episode, as one would expect. Two might expect that also. The rest of you are severely disappointed. With me were Chas and Tasha from Guild Wars Guru and Split Infinity Radio.
Some new faces are here today to talk about the overhaul to the entire “role” system of Guild Wars 2 in response to Jon Peters’ recent article explaining what’s going to happen in regard to control, support, and damage.
The show is late due to the Independence Day weekend, but it’s not lacking. Kal, Astara and I talk about pie a lot, bash Twilight, and banter about a lot of stuff that was completely unrelated to Guild Wars yet still entertaining (right?).
Trevor couldn’t join us today, but no worries, we were joined by Astara’s excellently British husband, Kal Agrim. We accidentally did more profession speculation, as one should expect of any healthy Guild Wars fan site, and we discuss the missed potential of Vekk’s voice actor Maurice LaMarche in GW:EN. Hopefully, we’ve put Felicia Day (happy birthday by the way) to better use as her female Asura role in Guild Wars 2.
We give Danika ZuHeltzer what for, all for the purpose of our sophomoric episode. Wait, did I mean to say it that way? Also, we say the word “segway” a whole whole lot. It’s because we’re pro.
The “Relics of Orr” podcast kicks off with myself (Ryan Singleton), Lady Sinaea, and Trevor Covington. We review a lot of the tantalizing information ArenaNet has been letting loose upon us over the past few weeks. Whether you’ve already heard all about it or have no idea what’s up, have a listen. We’re very studied on the matter. Well, ostensibly. Okay, those two are. I just said a lot of stuff also.
