A huge chunk of our family's income goes to renting or buying, so building stronger families means knowing the most simple way to decide between the two, and if buying, how to take advantage of money saving offers that may fit your situation.

Many buyers choose not to take advantage of these buying opportunities. My guest, Gary Shapiro, Real Estate Broker for Keller Williams Bay Area Estates in Los Gatos, California, explains when to rent, when to buy, and how YOU can decide on the loan that won't WASTE your money.

With this knowledge, you won't have to rely on bankers, agents, and others to bring to your attention all of the options that might fit your family's financial situation. After all, no one cares more about the best interest of your family than you, right?

Your kids can decide for themselves when they turn 18, right? Wrong. If they don't take music lessons when they're a kid, they DON'T have the choice when they're an adult. By not giving them lessons on an instrument, you have taken away your child's freedom to choose whether or not to play an instrument.

The learning curve is so steep, we must all start our music lessons early. And, as you will learn–the easy part involves them learning multiple instruments. You will learn how the ability to work with others as a team (like sports) is part of learning how play musical instruments: the idea of our musical children playing (jamming) along with others is too often overlooked by parents.

After or even while learning the instruments, songwriting (simply by putting a few chords in a certain order) becomes a source of creativity and confidence for your child. Additionally, being able to play instruments becomes a source of social circles for children. Finally, it's even a source of income, as they may teach the instruments to neighbors and friends, or even teach or perform professionally.

My guest is Alan Sarver, Chair of the Bay Area's SchoolForce Save the Music Festival in Belmont, CA. He can be reached at www.schoolforce.org/events/save-the-music/.
