The Big East has been experiencing a very successful postseason so far as all three men's teams have advanced to the Sweet 16 while UConn is back in the Sweet 16 on the women's side for the 30th year in a row. Meanwhile, Seton Hall is heading to the NIT Final Four at Hinkle while Villanova can punch their ticket to the WBIT Final Four (also at Hinkle) tonight. UConn MBB continued their dominant stretch on Saturday by crushing Marquette by 28 at home. I'll recap and discuss that game, share my thoughts on Rick Pitino's disparaging remarks about his team after they blew an early 19-point lead against Seton Hall at home, and more on this edition of The Igloo!

On Sunday, the Big East's hopes of sending multiple teams to Houston for the Final Four were in the hands of the Creighton Bluejays. Sadly, those hopes were crushed in heartbreaking fashion, a 57-56 loss to the San Diego State Aztecs. I'll share my thoughts on the game, as well as provide an update on potential plans to end this year's March Marathon!

UConn MBB is Final Four bound for the first time since 2014 and did so in dominant fashion against Gonzaga. I'll discuss how that came to fruition, recap UConn WBB's shocking loss in the Sweet 16 to Ohio State in Seattle, and share my preview and prediction for Creighton's Elite 8 showdown with San Diego State!

Friday was eventful for the Big East as Villanova WBB ALMOST pulled off a comeback for the ages before falling short in what seemed to be Maddy Siegrist's final college game while Creighton MBB beat Princeton to advance to their first Elite Eight in program history (1941 doesn't count.) I'll recap that, as well as Xavier's loss to Texas, and preview today's games as both UConn teams are in action with the women facing Ohio State in the Sweet 16 in Seattle and the men facing Gonzaga in Vegas for the right to go to the Final Four!

UConn continued its dominance in this NCAA Tournament last night with a wire-to-wire evisceration of Arkansas. I'll share my full analysis of that game and preview today's action as the Xavier and Creighton men and Villanova women will take the court in hopes of joining the UConn men in representing this great conference in the Elite Eight!

The Sweet 16 officially begins tonight and I'll do an in-depth preview of UConn/Arkansas, make my picks for the other three games tonight, and discuss Providence's new WBB coach

Monday was another sweet day for the Big East on and off the court as Villanova and UConn WBB advanced to the Sweet 16 on their homecourts while St. John's MBB made waves by hiring the legendary Rick Pitino as their new coach. I'll discuss all that, as well as share some more thoughts on the ongoing fallout of Ed Cooley taking the job at Georgetown, on today's edition of The Igloo!

It's been quite a wild 24 hours or so for the Big East as 3 of their teams punched their tickets to the Sweet 16 and one of their head coaches officially leaves his job to take over at another Big East school. My recap of yesterday's second round action (and my instant and knee-jerk reaction to this breaking news) is all on Day 20 of the March Marathon!

The Big East could have a banner day today as they can potentially send FOUR teams to the second weekend for the first time since realignment and I'll share how I think those teams can make it happen. We had a mixed bag of results from the Big East in both tournaments as Creighton WBB upset Colorado while over on the men's side, Villanova took care of business against Delaware while Seton Hall got absolutely manhandled by TCU in what might be the final game of the Kevin Willard era. St. Patrick's Day was a wild day for March Madness as there were multiple games that went to OT and some monumental upsets as well. With just under a week until Big East Media Day, I've got my 2021-22 season predictions on both the men's and women's sides, complete with power rankings and my picks for Player of the Year and the All-Big East first teams. Before all that though, I've got an interview with Bryan Caver, who played point guard for Seton Hall during their prime in the early 90s as part of two Big East championship teams.

Season 3 of The Igloo kicks off in a big way the second annual Big East Roundtable! All 11 of my delegates laid out their personal expectations of their respective teams, key players to watch for, and there's always room for banter just like last year. The Big East's 2020-21 season is officially in the books now as both Villanova and Creighton lost in the Sweet 16 to the top 2 overall seeds in this year's NCAA tournament, Baylor and Gonzaga. I'll analyze and recap those games, as well as share my thoughts on some news from around the league, including Shaka Smart being introduced as the new head coach at Marquette and Providence's Noah Horchler announcing that he'll be returning to Friartown for his extra year of eligibility along with Nate Watson.

It's been a wild past couple of days in the Big East as several players from across the conference entered the transfer portal, including Georgetown's rising star at center, Qudus Wahab. On top of that, Marquette finally found their new head basketball coach as they lured Wisconsin native Shaka Smart from Texas to take over a program that hasn't won an NCAA tournament game since 2013. I'll also preview the Sweet 16 and discuss in depth what it's gonna take for both Villanova and Creighton to pull off monumental upsets this weekend of Baylor and Gonzaga, respectively. After COVID robbed us of an NCAA tournament last year, March Madness is back this year. Joining me to discuss this year's participants from the Big East in this year's field as well as the entire bracket are Patrick Madden from the Big Big East Blog and Sean Paul from Making the Madness.

Georgetown completed their improbable run to the Big East championship on Saturday in dominant fashion against Creighton at The Garden, winning by a final of 73-48. I'll provide my thoughts on this beatdown and also look ahead briefly to the NCAA Tournament starting later this week in Indy!

When the season began back in November, we all kind of expected Creighton to be in this year's Big East championship game, right? The same couldn't be said about Georgetown, who was picked to finish dead last in the preseason poll and were the #8 seed in this tournament. Tonight, these two teams will clash for the Big East title. For Creighton, they're gunning for their Big East title in school history after losing the title game in each of their last two appearances. As for Georgetown, they're trying to steal the Big East's automatic bid in the Big Dance and return glory and honor back to Georgetown, which would mean the world to head coach and Georgetown icon Patrick Ewing in the building he says that he owns. I'll preview this title game showdown in depth, provide my analysis on how these teams got here, forecast the All-Big East Tournament team, and try to put into words how much a Big East title this year would mean to both programs.

It was a wild Quarterfinal Thursday at the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden as top-seeded Villanova was upset by Georgetown, Seton Hall squeaked out an overtime win over St. John's, and both Creighton and UConn rolled to blowout wins over Butler and DePaul respectively. I'll have my thoughts on these games, as well as bonus coverage from yesterday's postgame press conferences. I'll also preview tonight's semifinal games and predict who will square off for the Big East championship Saturday night in "The World's Most Famous Arena."

Wednesday's first round was chalked full of upsets as Georgetown, Butler, and DePaul all advanced. I've got my analysis on those games as well as bonus coverage from the postgame press conferences. I'll also get you ready for today's quarterfinals and make my predictions for it too.

Even though he was only at Xavier for one year in 2016-17, that one year counted as Malcolm Bernard, a grad transfer from Florida A&M, helped lead the Musketeers to the Elite Eight for only the second time in program history. UConn is back in the Big East, baby! As of midnight July 1, UConn is back as a member of the Big East after seven miserable years in the AAC where their men's basketball team qualified for the NCAA Tournament just twice, their women's team simply steamrolled everyone and didn't lose a single game in conference play as well as the conference tournament, and football continued to turn to shit. With all that said, I'll explain why this move had to be made and how this will only help elevate the status of the Big East moving forward and why Big East fans everywhere should be excited about this news. Also, I've got a great interview with former Marquette big man and long-time fan favorite Matt Heldt as we talked about his four years playing for Coach Wojo, the mess that was the second semifinal at last year's Big East Tournament between Heldt's Golden Eagles and Seton Hall, and how his music taste expanded from classical music because of his history with the cello to using Rage Against the Machine to get him fired up before games. In my first official episode of summer vacation, the first interview in my summer vacation series features former Seton Hall post player Mike Nzei, who came all the way from Nigeria as a teenager to accomplish great things both on and off the court during his time at The Hall.
