The Hope Prose podcast is dedicated to hope-filled books – the authors who write them and the readers they inspire. We upload new episodes once every two weeks and hope to leave our listeners with sparks to ignite their own stories–whether in real life or fictional. We want our podcast to be a place that inspires you to live a life of creative purpose through reading, writing, or maybe even singing. Words are kinda our thing. With author interviews ranging from Nadine Brandes, to Lauren K. Denton, and many more, you are sure to leave with tidbits of information that we hope inspire and uplifts you.
This week on Hope Prose, Tara has the joy of speaking with Bruce Holsinger, an Oprah Book Club pick author who is not afraid to confront some of our most challenging societal debates, from environmental catastrophe and class expectations and aspirations to, more recently, the artificial elephant in every computer: AI.
Bruce Holsinger is the author of titles such as The Displacements, The Gifted School, and most recently Culpability, which Tara read twice before chatting with him because it was that good. He is an English professor at the University of Virginia, a recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship, and an esteemed non-fiction writer, with works published in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and Yale University Press.
Listen in as they talk about leaning into ethical quandaries and the issues that keep us up at night, how we learn and grow alongside our students, and where, if anywhere, AI has a place in the act of creating stories.
You can find out more about Bruce and his thought-provoking collection of novels at bruceholsinger.com or on IG @bruceholsingerauthor.

This week on Hope Prose, we continue on our journey around the "why" of writing in conversation with US Today best-selling author Emma Grey, author of The Last Love Note, Pictures of You, and Start at the End.
Listen in as Tara discusses with her the power of story to connect us, not only across time and relationships but also across spaces, including a literary pilgrimage that brought Emma, her family, and a friend to Tara’s community in Ontario, Canada.
They discuss how influential L. M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables was in Emma’s writing journey, how she inspired Emma not only in her fictional world, but as a writer herself, and how including these personal experiences in our own writing helps us connect better with readers. We also get a tease at how her recent trip may have inspired what is to come for Emma!
