Welcome to the Receding Hairlines Podcast! A mostly sports show from three guys who love barbershop sports debates and analytics!
We back!
So...I (Sarge) took a trip to Vegas over the weekend and didn't edit this episode. My bad.
HOWEVER, we only missed one week of NFL Football, and now you're ready to break it all down with our most educational episode yet. Seriously.
Fabo started things off, blindly feeling his way through NFL analysis. He didn't suck at it! Then Hutch and Sarge gave their Super Bowl predictions. Shout out to the Kansas City Chiefs(!!).
As usual, we segued all over the place and touched on a variety of topics like the ESPN Body Issue (with special guest appearance by Mrs. Sarge), Dwight Howard, Southwest Airlines and more.
Thanks for listening! Don't forget to subscribe, rate and review the show!
Welp...we recorded this a few weeks ago. Just getting it out now. Our bad.
Now...why would I still edit and publish this episode?
Well, first Fabo makes a shocking admission. Second, there is a great Dr. Sebi joke. Third, you have proof that we got the Jay Z/NFL situation right as it happened. We recorded this when the deal was put together and I'm proud to say our takes aged decently well.
This is a fun episode. Worth your time even though the sports takes are a little late.
We'll be back on schedule with our Hairlines Uninformed NFL Preview this week.
Don't forget to subscribe and rate the show! Thanks for listening!
We back!
Sports kind of cooled off for all of July there, and we took a break.
The Hairlines make their triumphant return in YEAR TWO of the podcast. We actually recorded this on our anniversary. Hooray us.
In this episode, we jumped in with the Reds/Pirates/Yasiel Puig baseball fight. Would you fight for a team that traded you earlier in the day?
We were quickly derailed in true Hairlines fashion and the show goes all over the place. We hit a few segues though, covering:
Trent Williams refusing to play for Washington
The Yankees
Wisdom Teeth removal
Getting into fights as kids
All over the place. Thanks for listening! More podcast gold on the way!
Please take a couple seconds to rate, review and subscribe to the show. Thanks for listening!
We back!
Of course the Rockets and Thunder pulled off a HUGE trade while this episode was being edited :-(
And still we rise.
In this episode, we kick off the show talking about becoming our parents. We are truly washed. After that, we "officially" started by discussing the last major NBA story, Kawhi Leonard's power play in joining the LA Clippers.
From there, Hutch and Fabo commiserated about RJ Barrett's rocky start to his career with their beloved Knicks. They get into the specific parts of his game they hate the most so far. Why can't the Knicks ever do the right thing?
The most important development of this week is that the segues have returned segue sound We missed them as much as you did.
We segued beautifully into a few topics...the MLB Home Run Derby, Fixing Professional All-Star Games, the 5-Second, Flying Knee UFC Knockout, and Hutch tells us why all-you-can-eat restaurants are a scam.
Spoiler: They aren't.
Fun episode this week. We'll be back to discuss the Russell Westbrook trade, and any other wild news of the day next week.
Thanks for listening!
We back!
In this episode, the Hairlines talk NBA Free Agency. Namely, how are Hutch and Fabo handling their beloved Knicks singing 0 All-Stars despite $70 MILLION in cap room.
They claim to be handling it well. We discuss that and Sarge's revelation that, in terms of desirability for a free agent, the Knicks and Pistons are in the same boat. As you can imagine, the New Yorkers on the pod did not enjoy this.
We close out the show bouncing around the league talking about other signings, and Sarge talks about Hooping While Old.
To wrap up, Fabo tells a story about somebody getting peed on in MTA Subway Chronicles.
Thanks for listening! Take a minute to subscribe to the show and leave us a 5-star review.
Two episode week!
We know you missed us.
This week, the Hairlines kicked off the show by wrapping up the Finals, the moves around the NBA including Anthony Davis and Al Horford.
All of that was a set up for NBA Draft talk though. First, Matt Morgan <3 The best player from Cornell might get drafted(!!). Fabo claims he's CJ McCollum and would draft him in the first round(!!!!!).
We wrapped up the show with the first ever Receding Hairlines Mock Draft. "Which city would you most want to live in as the #1 pick." We didn't factor in the teams in those cities, just quality of life.
Fun episode as always. Lots of drops and segues.
Make sure to subscribe the show, rate and review us. Thanks for listening!
Ok...this one is on me (Sarge).
We actually recorded this episode two weeks ago...during The Finals. We talked about the matchups and what we thought would happen, but I cut all that out. Not sure if you heard, but Toronto won.
Instead, I left everything else we talked about including: Kawhi Leonard, Caribbean barbers, not knowing how to pronounce the company you work for, pickup basketball, Charles Barkley, and the travesty of the Spelling Bee.
Really fun episode. Especially since you already know what happened in the NBA.
Sorry about the sound quality :-(
More episodes on the way! We appreciate you listening. Take a minute to subscribe, rate and review us!
We back!
In this episode, the Hairlines kick off talking about Magic Johnson's second appearance on ESPN to defend himself against the latest Lakers drama.
We quickly pivot to Bronny James' (LeBron James' kid) Instagram. Why do 14 year olds do such dumb things? We answer that question by telling the dumbest stories of our youth.
Find out why Fabo was banned from AOL, and why Sarge was banned from Pay-per-View :-/
We wrap up the show talking about the Finals and why Fabo is (incorrectly) predicting the Raptors to win.
Quick episode this week. We told a bunch of stories that would get us fired, so they are on the cutting room floor. WELP!
Thanks for listening! Please take a second to give us a rating, review, or an "atta boy". Whatever works.
Until next week!
We back!
Slight production delay thanks for the holiday. You now have Hairlines in your queue for Memorial Day though. You're all welcome!
In this episode we talk about Magic Johnson's petty appearance on First Take. When is the last time he logged into his online banking?
After that, Fabo decided to rearrange the calendar to his liking. Welcome to Fabe-uary!
We talked about the NBA Playoffs, the Mets, Juwan Howard returning home to Michigan, and Hutch gives us all our NBA player comps from the NBA Combine measurements. Shout out to Sherron Collins.
Fun episode. We'll be back (on time) next week!
Make sure to subscribe, rate and review the show.
We back!
In this week's episode, the Hairlines watch the NBA Lottery live together.
Hutch and Fabo are lifelong New York Knick fans and would sell their kidneys for Zion Williamson on their teams...things did not turn out well.
Basically, this episode is them gradually melting down, mixed with some observations of the Lottery and finally a deflated finish.
Zion Williamson to the New Orleans Pelicans...who asked for this?
Anyway, it's a fun episode with lots of (understandable) cursing. You have been warned!
Until next week!
We're back. This time with our first guests!
This week, the Hairlines welcome our wives to the show. Rayna and Ceebeaux grace us with their presence to discuss Ayesha Curry's comments in the latest episode of Red Table Talk.
Ayesha commented a lack of male attention from people not named Steph Curry, and how that has impacted her life. The ladies give a great perspective, and we spent most of the episode understanding a woman's view of her situation.
As usual, the topics veer all over the place from porn etiquette, to Kawhi Leonard vs. Kobe Bryant, to disappointing Knicks free agents.
Fun episode, but all that really matters is our wives joined the show to make it smarter.
Thanks for listening! Make sure to subscribe, rate and review the show.
Next week we will watch the NBA Draft Lottery live with Hutch and Fabo as they find out whether the Knicks will get to draft Zion Williamson...should be hilarious either way.
Two episode week!
The Hairlines return this week with a look at the upcoming NBA Lottery. Lifelong Knick fans Hutch and Fabo debate who they want the team to take with the 2nd pick...Ja Morant or RJ Barrett.
They also disrespect NBA PLAYOFF PARTICIPANT the Detroit Pistons :-(
Anyway, after that, the Segue Gods transitioned to the NY Football Giants and their selection of Daniel Jones with the 6th pick.
From there, we got to the good stuff...
What is the best route for success on Supermarket Sweep?
Should you be penalized on Wheel of Fortune if you can't read?
What's up with Jeopardy James?
And finally, why don't alleged Jamaicans Hutch and Fabo like Curry Chicken or Goat?
Fun episode, quite a bit of game show talk. We only said this podcast is mostly sports after all.
Thanks for listening!
Not even gonna lie to y'all, we had some production issues.
This episode was recorded a couple weeks ago. Tiger had just won the Master's, the Giants hadn't made the horrible Daniel Jones pick yet, and the NBA Playoffs were still in Round 1.
None of that matters though.
We dissect the slang phrase "I'll wash you" and who is responsible for making that a bad thing. That opens the door for Fabo to share the worst story ever shared on this podcast.
That's all that matters.
There's some sports stuff too. Fun episode in general.
Thanks for listening! Please remember to rate, review and share with a friend!
Bonus pod!
Kind of...basically the original episode ran long, so the Hairlines NBA Playoff preview gets it's own episode.
Lucky you.
Anyway, we talked about the key upcoming matchups and make the official Receding Hairlines predictions and hot takes. Watch out for Sarge's Pistons to maybe actually win a game against Milwaukee.
We touched on the upcoming NBA Lottery, and TV ratings as well.
Fun episode...it's NBA Playoff time!
We back!
In this episode of the show, the Hairlines open the show talking about Magic Johnson's abrupt resignation from the LA Lakers in a hilarious 40-minute press conference.
After that, we inexplicably talked about Robin Roberts' basketball career...who knew?
We talked about Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles, who is currently on a 0/53 hitless streak as the team's highest paid player. How the hell do you manage this if you're the Orioles?
We wrap up with a little more baseball talk, specifically how none of the best players make any of the money.
Check out Part 2 for our NBA Playoff preview!
I'm not going to lie to you...our transitions are rusty. It's my promise we'll get better.
That's not important though, this is our FIRST EVER LIVE SHOW...kinda.
In this episode, we caught up on a great Sweet 16/Elite 8 weekend in the tournament. We're going to miss Zion.
We also covered Bryce Harper's glorious bat flip against his former team. We actually care about baseball again!
Then we asked the only NBA MVP question that matters...does James Harden already consider himself a 2-time MVP?
We wrapped up with a story about Sarge trying to dunk the bootleg way as a kid, and of course Matt Morgan talk. All hail Cornell Basketball.
If you're enjoying the show, please give us a review. Where should we do the next live show??
We back! The Hairlines came back from a short break to catch up on all things sports and other stuff.
Topics this week included a deep dive into Will Smith’s filmography. It kinda stinks actually.
We covered some bracket talk...are you a 1 Bracket person, or do you fill out multiple?
We touched on Tim Hardaway Sr’s hall of game candidacy in light of his anti-LGBT comments.
Finally, Sarge laments joining the ranks of the Receding :-(...fun episode. Thanks for listening!
The Hairlines have returned!
After a week long break, the Receding Hairlines are back to discuss mostly sports things.
We kicked off the show discussing how terrible the movie The Princess Diaries was. Truly, truly terrible. That led to a discussion about Hutch's interesting TV habits. He has never seen Law and Order and he seems...proud?
We finally got into sports topics. Sarge professed his newfound love for the Atlanta Hawks, and we debated the merits of rooting for a tanking team (Hutch and Fabo's Knicks) vs. rooting for a mid team (Sarge's Detroit Pistons).
We closed the show with Fabo recounting his brush with fame. His video of Ja Rule's awkward halftime performance went viral. TMZ offered money, and one of his oldest friends stole his clout. Hell of a story.
Thanks for listening to the show! If you haven't already (and even if you have), subscribe, rate and review the show.
Until next week!
We back!
This week, the Hairlines jumped into the big topics in sports. We started with Manny Machado signing with the San Diego Padres and Bryce Harper remaining unsigned. Why does baseball have a system that alienates its best players?
After that, we hopped around, covering a variety of topics:
We debate whether the Lakers will make the playoffs
We discuss the trainwreck of a movie known as High Flying Bird
Same for Killer Mike's Netflix show
Finally, we touched on the Pittsburgh Steelers drama with Antonio Brown, and the recent comments from the team's GM that seem to emphatically support Ben Roethlisberger for some reason.
Fun episode this week. Our segues were on fire, which we know you've come to expect from the Receding Hairlines.
Thanks for listening! Don't forget to subscribe to the show and rate/review each episode.
The Hairlines are back!
In this week's episode, we kick off with 21 Fabo potentially admitting to an immigration crime, and Sarge and Fabo discovering a shared love of John Henry.
We officially kick off the show and start with Papa John switching allegiance from the University of Louisville to hated rival the University of Kentucky and #BBN.
That somehow leads to a breakdown of the best press conferences of all time (#SegueGods), and the discovery of Scott Steiner Math.
The Hairlines then discuss how both Magic Johnson and the New York Knicks are truly terrible at tampering, how Antoine Walker and Eric Snow got really fat, and other topics like Baylor Football and cops in Blackface.
Where else can you hit Anthony Davis, Eric Snow, immigration and blackface?!
Fun show this week. Thanks for listening! Please take a minute to subscribe to the show, rate and review us as well.
Until next week!
We're back!
In this week's episode, The Hairlines talk about all of the crazy NBA news of the week. We get into Anthony Davis' quest to get out of New Orleans, is LeBron finally, officially over the hill?
We pour a little liquor out for that. Sorry, but we may be heading toward the end of his career.
After getting into a few more random NBA topics, we (quickly) recap last week's terrible Super Bowl, and Fabo makes his NBA Finals prediction (Spoiler: he doesn't have the Warriors winning).
Come for the sports talk, stay for the best segues in podcasting.
Until next week! Thanks for listening and make sure to subscribe, rate and review the show.
The Hairlines are back!
We finished this episode and managed to get it posted the same week. Jamaican Air Horns
The Hairlines kick this episode off breaking down Anthony Davis' trade demand. Naturally Hutch and Fabo talk about AD joining the Knicks.
From there, the show took several turns from Adrien Broner's wild post-fight interview, a WILD update in the Phoenix Suns arena drama, and Fabo's star turn after popping up on a Buzzfeed list. This may be his last episode, he's too famous now.
We wrap up the show with Fabo recounting two hilarious barbershop tales. Worth the wait until the end.
Thanks for listening! Please remember to subscribe, rate and review the podcast. Until next week!
We're back!
This week, the Hairlines dive right into some NBA topics before segueing masterfully to other random topics of the week.
First, we crowned ourselves the Segue Gods of Podcasting, and I defy you to find anybody segueing better.
Next, we touched on a variety of topics including:
Fabo measuring himself against every NFL Running Back...and we think he thinks he could actually be one.
We open the Receding Hairlines Megachurch...a shameless cash grab. See you on Sunday!
Kyler Murray's decision to declare for the NFL draft. If you knew you'd be a 1st round pick in both, would you choose pro baseball or football? We discuss.
Finally, we talked about the Conference Championship matchups in the NFL playoffs before wrapping the show.
Fun times.
Thanks as always for listening, please take a minute to subscribe to the show, then rate and review us. Helps us a lot.
Until next week!
Two episodes in one week! The Receding Hairlines Podcast is a model of consistency.
In this week's show, the Hairlines start by discussing the situation for Black coaches in the NFL, and why so many more seem to be getting fired than getting hired.
We touched on a few other sports as well. Seems like a similar situation in the NBA and MLB.
It wasn't all depressing race topics though. This week we touched on a variety of topics including: LeBron James giving his kids wine and late night dance parties, the NFL Playoffs, the biggest flop in MLB Draft history, and the College Football National Championship Game. Fun episode.
We appreciate you listening. Please take a minute to subscribe, rate and review us.
Until next week!
The Hairlines are back!
This was actually the first episode we recorded in 2019. Took a while to edit...our bad.
In this episode we catch up on the latest sports topics which includes James Harden's ridiculous stretch lately. That (naturally) led to a discussion about the basketball episode of My Brother and Me.
From there the podcast was pretty much broken. Fun episode, we end up all over the place as usual.
Thanks for listening! Take a minute to rate and review us, it helps more people find the show.
The Hairlines are back!
We took an extended break to catch up with our families and, of course, watch sports.
The Hairlines started off the episode watching Duke vs. Texas Tech, with Sarge cursing Duke (as he does all the time), Fabio defending them (as HE does), and Hutch commenting on horrible college basketball referees.
Basically, we're back like we never left.
This episode was a bit of all over the place. Fabo had a crush on Rebecca Lobo. Sarge and Hutch are confused. Junior Bridgeman came up. The Nickelodeon show Guts came up (shout out to Moira!). Fabo brought us back to some actual basketball analysis of James Harden. He's been having a hell of a year. And of course we closed by comparing Michael Jordan's sons to LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball.
Fun episode. Thanks for listening! Please rate and review us. It takes 2 seconds!
We back!
The Hairlines return this week, and this episode was all over the board.
We jumped into the show talking about fantasy sports. Why is Fantasy Baseball such torture, and why do we play it?
Somehow that transitioned into Ivy League Basketball takes, and we decided to become the preeminent source of obscure college basketball. This week we tackle the Ivies, next week Sun Belt! Ayyyeee!
We officially started the show with the Trevor Ariza trade/non-trade/trade. Then Fabo explained why Malik Monk might have a case to sue Michael Jordan. Seriously.
To round out the episode, Sarge tried out his theory that Black actors tend to go by 3 names or have a middle initial. Turns out he just watches mostly Black media.
Fun episode this week. Thanks for listening! Please rate and review us to help more people find the show!
We're back!
Took an extended break for the holiday, and so Sarge could change careers. Wild times.
Anyway, the Hairlines kicked off this episode discussing KD's comments about playing with LeBron...why doesn't KD have Stans? Also, do you remember Velvet Hoop?
Next, Fabo explains how he spent the holiday going between doctor's offices to nurse his bad back. That naturally led to a discussion about Markelle Fultz.
We wrap up the show with Fabo explaining why he hates Michael Phelps and swimming in general. The answer is that Michael Phelps hates Jamaicans.
You just have to listen.
Thanks for checking out this episode! If you're enjoying the show, please rate and review us.
Until next week!
In this week's episode, the Hairlines discuss the hot topics in sports. First, we break down the Jimmy Butler trade, while watching him lose in his debut with the 76ers.
After that, we talk over the Draymond/KD beef. We know KD is better, but who's more important to the Warriors' success?
We close out the show talking about a range of topics from the LeVeon Bell choosing to sit out (and having his locker raided), and tales of our high school athletic glory.
This is a good one, and most importantly, the audio actually sounds good!
Thanks for listening! If you're loving the show, please give us a 5-star review.
Welcome back to the Receding Hairlines Podcast!
This week, the Hairlines discuss Duke basketball and how they are unstoppable. Fabo is VERY impressed with Zion Williamson, and we spent about 15 minutes discussing.
After that, Fabo made the shocking admission that he broke his neck having sex. We talk about that a lot as you can imagine.
Finally, we talked about hot topics around the NBA. Fabo finally explains why he thinks Anthony Davis is not a superstar.
This is a great episode to laugh with, laugh at, and yell at Fabo.
Fun episode. Thanks for listening!
In the latest episode, the Hairlines start by screwing up the intro several times. We shook that off and tackled the sports news of the day:
First was yet another Jimmy Butler update(!!)...much to Hutch's dismay. Then we talked about some of the crazier coach firings in the NFL and NBA...but mostly in Cleveland.
We hit a few more topics, including a recap of episode 2 of The Shop, accidental racism in sports and a blow-by-blow breakdown of the CP3 vs. Rajon Rondo fight. Who actually won? We break it down.
We finished the show with a few more NBA topics, then we kicked off NCAA Basketball season by talking about the craziest names in the sport.
Thanks for listening!
At long last, the NBA season has returned!
In this episode, the Hairlines breakdown an eventful first week of the NBA season. There was the skirmish between Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo. That conversation led to the definitive ranking of fights by intensity (Malice at the Palace is the most intense), Blake Griffin lighting up the 76ers for 50 points, and other stories around the league.
We also talked about some of our past sports glory (and embarrassments), and basked in the glory that is Mike Breen's NBA announcing. Fun episode.
Thanks for listening!
The Hairlines are back! Kinda...
I actually forgot to record the episode this week. Instead of an actual episode, this week Sarge walks you through:
The official Hairline Hot Takes for the upcoming NBA season, including Fabo saying that ANTHONY DAVIS IS NOT A SUPERSTAR.
The debut of the Barbershop NBA Player Rankings...the 10 best players in the world as rated by the average person at the barbershop.
Our NBA Finals predictions for the year.
The 90 seconds of the episode that actually was recorded...which is basically 90 seconds of Fabo and Hutch laughing at Sarge for forgetting to press record to start.
Thanks for listening! We'll be back next week with a real episode!
The Hairlines are back!
In this week's episode, The Hairlines update the Jimmy Butler drama in the NBA. This week, Butler punked his teammates, coaches and front office. We break it down, and discuss the potential impact around the league.
That led to general NBA talk heading into the season. Why are the Kings consistently doing such weird things? How will Melo blend in Houston?
We also touched briefly on the MLB Playoffs...just long enough to eulogize the Yankees season after being eliminated.
Finally, we talked about Week 6 of the NFL and amateur athlete rights in the NCAA. We jumped around a lot.
Thanks for listening! Please give us a 5-star review to help more people find the show!
In this week's episode of The Receding Hairlines Podcast, the Hairlines discuss:
Fun episode this week. Please don't forget to give us a 5-star review to help others discover the show!
On this episode the Receding Hairlines roast Kawhi Leonard's laugh, and update the Jimmy Butler saga.
None of that matters though. On this episode, Fabo and Hutch detail the issues with his beloved Jamaican restaurants. It's an amazing rant.
Thanks for listening!
In today's episode, the Receding Hairlines discuss:
...plus lots of other randomness from this week in sports. If you're enjoying the podcast, please give us a 5-star review.
Thanks for listening!
