With the help of voices from our staff team, we want to walk you through the Prayer Wheel. This episode is designed specifically to pray through the Prayer Wheel that we have recommended in our Disciple Making Trainings and recent sermons at Northside.
About the wheelThe hour has been divided into 12 five-minute "points of focus." This podcast will do all the timing for you. All you have do it listen to the description and then focus your prayer for the reminder of the 5 minute section.
Some aspects may require only a minute, whereas others will require more than a mere five minutes. If you finish a section early, simply ask God, "What more do you have to say to me about this?"
If you are returning to use this guide and don’t need instructions, you can skip to minute 2 of the podcast and jump right in.
Resources* We recommend having your Bible or Bible app with you as you pray. * Download the Prayer Wheel image on our website >> * View the full Prayer Wheel document >> * Access additional Live No Lies sermon series resources online >> * See more disciple making tools in our Disciple Making Resources page >>

Obedience reveals your allegiance, is your test of friendship with God, and results in love, joy and intimate fellowship with Jesus. Will you set your life on the Rock and make sure you are headed in the right direction?
Sermon from Wayne Bushnell, lead minister, in our This to That series.
Transform our earner mentality into an heir mentality as we trust Christ for salvation and for living.
You’ve been saved to serve. If you have been forgiven, you have a mission. If you have been restored to the joy of your salvation like David, you have a responsibility to share it with others.
God welcomes you into a safe relationship that’s not affected by your certainty. He is not afraid of your questions and doubts. Message preached by Allen Tyger, College*Life Minister.
If we are going to help people through grief, we are going to need to grow in our understanding of grief.
You can experience "good grief" by
While you wait, actively wait. Remember his faithfulness, obey His Word, tell your story and rejoice continually.
Every person can grow trust in God in the face of fear by believing that the Lord is my Lord, my light, my salvation and my stronghold, and by believing that the presence of the Lord is my greatest need.
It's good to lament your weariness, to identify the cause of your weariness and to take your weariness to the Lord.
Psalm 22 will give you a voice when you are suffering, feed your faith when you are struggling so you can boldly declare HE HAS DONE IT!
Speak life giving words to people. Speak words to God about people. Speak God's Word out loud before you speak out loud to people.
How do we live with a "welcome mat" mindset?
Message from Wayne Bushnell, lead minister
You have to move compassion from the pit of your stomach to the palms of your hands. Message delivered by Allen Tyger, College*Life Minister.
In Luke 10, Jesus describes what loving your neighbor by definition looks like.
Love is not passive. Love Acts. Love moves.
"God, help me to find myself in proximity with someone who needs to be seen."
Message from Allen Tyger, College*Life Minister.
Maybe the best way to be a person of impact is not to say, “God, what do You want to do through me?” but instead ask, “God, what do You want to do in me?”

Every person can be a disciple making movement maker by raising up leaders to make more disciples.
Every person can do God’s will and finish his task by praying these prayers:
A disciple is more than someone saved by Jesus. A disciple is entrusted with the ministry of Jesus.
Corey Scott, worship minister, shares how we serve the end goal of disciple-making by surrendering to the power of Jesus’ authority, by partnering with His mission and by believing His promise of the end.
Refocusing our priorities is not so much about rearranging our schedules. It’s about refocusing our lives.
Priority is not about fitting God into my life. It is about God having priority over me.
God does what He says He's gonna do!
Sunday's message was taught by Wayne Bushnell, lead minister.
Plot Question in Jeremiah: Will God’s people listen to God’s warnings and repent of their sin, or will they reject the message of God’s prophet and be destroyed?
Today's sermon was preached by Allen Tyger, College*Life Minister.
Quit living a hurried life and hurry to Jesus. Don’t procrastinate repentance. God has been patient with you not wanting you to perish.
John Presko, small group and involvement minister, shares a message from Jeremiah about identifying your false gods.
If you're going to do what is right in God’s eyes, will you trust what God says even if you don’t understand why? Will you trust what Jesus says even if you don’t agree with Him?
Will you choose to "shema" to the voice of God, or will you instead listen to your own voice?
A better question than "What is your purpose in life?" is "Who is your purpose in life?"
God is writing a new chapter in your story everyday. Your past will always be a part of your story but God is making you into a new creation.
We need even the hard parts of the Bible, whether it's in the Old or New Testament, because this is God’s word to us. It reveals something we need to know.
Every person can understand the Bible by taking these steps:
The Bible is comprised of multiple books, different genres, styles, cultural settings and answering the question, "How do I read this book?," is an important one.
One of the most important things the Holy Spirit ever did for us was to give us the Bible. If you do not let the scriptures guide you, then you are letting someone else, something else, or yourself lead your life.
What makes this book different from other religious works? On what basis can we claim that the Bible records the actual words of God himself? Wayne tackles this topic in his message from Sunday, January 9, 2022.
Begin 2022 with a look at what the Bible is. Message taught by Allen Tyger, College*Life minister, on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Sunday morning message from Dec. 26, 2021. Preached by Garrett Holle, middle school minister.
This is the Christmyth: Jesus’ coming was calm, bright and tearless.
This is Christmas: Jesus’ coming into darkness was dangerous, chaotic and tearful yet He overcame!
In our quest to answer the question what did Mary know about Jesus, we will come to know more about Jesus. And that’s what Christmas is all about - knowing Jesus.

Journey through Advent with Northside as we share a devotion each day of the Advent season. Today's devotion comes from Ed Holt.
Every person should increase their gratitude from sometimes to always. Gratitude increases my affection for people...those I’m thankful for. Gratitude increases my desire to serve them.
Every person should follow Jesus’ example and lean into Scripture during times of suffering for these reasons.
Jesus asks: As my followers, are you willing to embrace suffering to serve people?
Sermon from Kevin Punch, high school minister
Believers who deny themselves, take up their cross and follow Jesus are the most fulfilled. They find life.
We take up our own crosses because it puts us on the same path as Jesus. I just want Jesus so bad that I will follow Him all the way…even to the cross. Disciples deny themselves.
Here’s the other side of what it means to be a disciple: We will engage the world.
God’s Kingdom grows in the hearts and minds of believers as we submit to His reign and His rule in our lives. The kingdom grows on the inside, not just on the outside!
Every person can experience healing from Jesus understanding the hindrances and the keys to getting well.
Ah, some of you can believe for other people, but we must bring the question more fully home to you and say, “… Is Christ able to save you – even you? Is he able to do this?” Charles H. Spurgeon
Jesus is the ONLY One who gives you hope. Jesus is approachable and interruptible. Jesus calls you out to give you a way out.
The very waves you are afraid of are the very waves God wants to use in your life.
What are the waves in your life?
Every person can identify genuine faith from false faith by realizing they are one of two ways, two trees or two builders.
When you put yourself in the seat of judgment, you tend to judge in an unfair manner. When you judge or condemn, you tend to forget that the same rules you are applying are going to be applied to you.
Loving your enemy magnifies God’s love and grabs the attention of unbelievers. Loving your enemy magnifies God’s transforming power and makes you like your Father in heaven.
When we are devoted to gathering in large groups (rows) & small groups (circles), we will find that this equals Kingdom additions.
CONFLICT, COMMUNICATION, CONTROL, AND COMMITMENT ACKNOWLEDGE the conflict in our lives today. Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because you know they produce quarrels. 2 TIMOTHY 2:23 But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this. 1 CORINTHIANS 7:28 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” MATTHEW 5:21-24 Our WORSHIP of God is IMPACTED by our CONFLICT with PEOPLE. What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? JAMES 4:1 FACE our FEAR of CONFLICT. If it is possible, as far as it DEPENDS ON YOU, live at peace with everyone. ROMANS 12:18 GAP: Growth. Among. Problems. The Goal of Conflict: RECONCILE “RESOLVE to not DISSOLVE the relationship.” – Rick Warren Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17-21 When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau. After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau's heel; so he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them. The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was a quiet man, staying among the tents. Isaac, who had a taste for wild game, loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob. GENESIS 25:24-28 Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I'm famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.) Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.” “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?” But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright. GENESIS 25:29-34 When Esau was forty years old, he married Judith daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and also Basemath daughter of Elon the Hittite. They were a source of grief to Isaac and Rebekah. GENESIS 26:34-35 Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. He said to himself, “The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob.” GENESIS 27:41 OWN our part of the CONFLICT. Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom. He instructed them: “This is what you are to say to my master Esau: ‘Your servant Jacob says, I have been staying with Laban and have remained there till now. I have cattle and donkeys, sheep and goats, menservants and maidservants. Now I am sending this message to my lord, that I may find favor in your eyes.’” When the messengers returned to Jacob, they said, “We went to your brother Esau, and now he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.” GENESIS 32:3-6 In great fear and distress Jacob divided the people who were with him into two groups, and the flocks and herds and camels as well. He thought, “If Esau comes and attacks one group, the group that is left may escape.” Then Jacob prayed, “O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O Lord, who said to me, ‘Go back to your country and your relatives, and I will make you prosper,’ I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant. I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan, but now I have become two groups. Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, and also the mothers with their children. But you have said, ‘I will surely make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand of the sea, which cannot be counted.’” GENESIS 32:7-12 CONFLICT is always SPIRITUAL, not just PHYSICAL. PRAYER OF JACOB: “I am unworthy … Save me … I am afraid.” Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome." GENESIS 32:28 Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men; so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel and the two maidservants. He put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph in the rear. He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother. But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept. Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children. “Who are these with you?” he asked. Jacob answered, “They are the children God has graciously given your servant.” GENESIS 33:1-5 Reconciliation (RE)SHAPES the next generation!
The Holy Spirit gives us knowledge, power and the right motive for pursuing holiness.

Every person should pursue friendship with God the Father for these reasons:
“The best advice for cultivating friendship is not to find a better friend but to become one.”
The way the early church modeled friendship is marked by disagreement, warmth and justice. These characteristics are to mark the church today as well.
What does it actually look like to have intentional friendships? With marks of affection, covenant and transparency the purpose of friendship is to lead us to become better disciples of Jesus.
Friends shape us, influence the moral direction of our lives and encourage us through life.
When loneliness unravels us, relationships put us back together. God made you to need friendship. He designed you, like himself, to long for friendship.
Every person can pursue what matters most by choosing to hold onto what matters most:
Every person can find the motivation to run faithfully to the very end by taking these considerations:
How do you respond with joy and perseverance to the hardships and persecutions in this life? Wayne Bushnell, lead minister, continues our look at the book of Hebrews.
Jesus’ resurrection turned defeated hopeless people into courageous contagious people who spread hope everywhere they went.
The blood, sweat and tears of Christ accomplished eternal redemption, the cleansing of your conscience and qualifies you to serve.
Are we just doing good things outwardly, or are we being changed inwardly? Listen to the sermon from Sunday, March 21 from Garrett Holle, Northside's middle school minister.

Hebrews says to approach the throne of grace with confidence! Because you have a great High Priest, a source of eternal salvation, a Mediator who intercedes on your behalf.
In the beginning of time, God rested at the completion of creation. At the end, believers will rest in the finished work of redemption. In the middle of time, there is rest for the faithful Christian.
Sabbath occurs when we pray and play with no work for the purpose of rest, restoration and remembering.
Wayne continues our study of Hebrews by examining why we should hold firmly to Jesus with confidence. He made us holy, He made us family, He gave us a heavenly calling, and He made me into God's house.
Jesus became the trailblazer in respect to our salvation. Jesus' death on the cross made him the PIONEER of salvation.
Wayne begins our new series called "Jesus Is" with a look at Hebrews 1. When we are struggling in our faith, we need a big picture of Jesus. We need to see Him for who he really is and to know He will see you through a lifetime of faith.
Corey concludes our series, I Can't Even, with a look at why suffering exists and how we should respond to it.
What do you do when you feel like you can’t get started?
What are you saying when you live an overwhelmed life? Allen Tyger shares how you can live a life reliant on the Spirit.

Every person should ask three questions when a loss of control causes them fear, worry, anxiety, negativity, and passivity.
As we go into 2021, let's do what the angels and the shepherds did. Let’s worship God by making a big deal about Jesus!
