The High Republic slaps, & we are blessed, once again, with guidance from our lovely friend, SARAH (Friends of the Force Podcast, @seh221), to help us process all the goings-on in this darker middle chapter of Phase 1 of The High Republic novels.

It's been 3 very long years since SWC Chicago in 2019, and Collin and I cannot wait to hopefully meet some of you at SWCA. This week in Current Events we discuss the "Star Wars: Visions" anime project and the details that were unveiled at the Anime Expo Lite panel including release date, studios included, and titles & details of each short. I mean, A DROID IN A HAT, YA'LL! We of course also discuss Episode 10 of "The Bad Batch: Common Ground". We delve into how this episode recalled The Clone Wars, focused on a more political theme yet also gave us additional insight into Omega's skill set & her relationship with her Tough Love Mom, Cid, and we see how hard I will go to defend new droid GS-8. Lastly, please be warned that I rant about a topic that made me a little grumpy this week.😬
We're are back to discuss Episode 9 of THE BAD BATCH! This episode finds our young heroine in the clutches of Cad Bane & his pesky droid, Todo, but as the title flat out tells us lol, that doesn't last too long. But there are definitely a couple of record scratch moments that left us with more questions than answers. Plus the return of not 1 but 2 of Omega's "Moms"! So come on in, and hear us out on what we think it all could possibly mean.
We have hit the halfway mark of season 1 of THE BAD BATCH, and it took no prisoners (har har). Crosshair is back on our screens, and he is on an Imperial mission to, ummmm, "take care" of his former squad. Tensions run HIGH this episode, PLUS we have a big deal guest star that made Collin fist pump. (Oh yeah, and he also yells about Rhen Var AGAIN.)
This week URP examines "THE BAD BATCH" Episode 7 entitled "Battle Scars". We have arrived at the midway point of season one, and it sure got tense as Wrecker's inhibitor chip finally becomes a very big problem for him and his friends. We also get a very exciting guest star in this episode, and we discuss a metaphorical moment which of course makes us happy. Plus, we perhaps uncover a subtle theme that evokes possible spirituality. We also discuss more on Omega, her new creature friend, her possible mysterious purpose, what we think her actions in this episode could mean to the larger story. Like a Blue Light Special (if you get that reference you're probably as ancient as I am), "The Mandalorian" season 2 trailer has arrived, and IT IS BLUE! Literally. The logo is blue, and there is just SO MUCH WATER. Join us as we take a look and try to answer several important questions. Is that Boba Fett's jetpack on the back of Mando's bike? What does the Aurebesh graffiti say? Who is the mysterious lady in black robes? How "2001" is that opening shot? What is the deal with ALL THAT WATER???? Will I ever learn to stop making sweeping, tinfoil hat predictions based on a logo color? (The answer to that is apparently NOPE.)
In Part Three of our series examining the throne rooms of Star Wars, we get in the way-back machine and travel to the Prequel Trilogy! We go in-depth examining the High Board Room of the of Otoh Gungan High Council, the Royal Palace throne room in Theed, and Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine's "office" (which we are sure HE considered a throne room). We find a lot of ways to compare and contrast these three distinct rooms, and of course we both "RATE THAT THRONE ROOM." Plus, in Current Events we commiserate over what could have been at Star Wars Celebration 2020 and discuss John Boyega's recent GQ interview.
In Part Two of our series examining the throne rooms of Star Wars, we take a leap forward to the Sequel Trilogy! We take a look at development, production, and the in-universe lore behind Snoke's FABULOUS red room (I mean womb. I mean room), the last of Palps's collection of thrones, and I surprise Collin with some concept art of a manspreading, enthroned Supreme Leader Kylo Ren. We begin by musing about Ch 2 of Star Wars Roll Out's "Ben Solo and the Bug Hunters" as we begin a new segment, "It's MetaFORCEical" in which we will explore the metaphorical layers found in Star Wars. What do we know about Roll Out's mastermind creator, Hideo Itoyanagi? Two interviews we found shed some light on him. Next, now that the series is complete, we finally take a deep dive into the BRILLIANTLY written (by Charles Soule) and beautifully drawn (by Will Sliney) comic series "The Rise of Kylo Ren" about which I have....a lot of complicated feelings.

SURPRISE! The TROS novelization, written by the lovely Rae Carson, dropped this past weekend, and I was one of the lucky few to grab a copy! I have read and enthusiastically annotated this book beyond all necessity, and in this episode I will share my non-spoiler general impressions, and then I'll give fair warning before I drop all the spoilers Collin can handle. Not even flu-like symptoms could stop me from sharing my thoughts on this novelization! I simply could not wait!
