The Federal Trade Commission has determined Youtube has been violating the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. As a result of this violation, Youtube has been fined $170 million and will be making major changes to kids content on the platform.
Changes include: Creators must identify if a video is intended for kids. If so, there will be no personalized ads on the video, no likes/dislikes, and no comments
Videos that fall into this category have an emphasis on kids characters, toys, themes, or games.
I discuss all of this and how these changes will affect creators and viewers.
