This year the boys are sharing a Mother's Day compilation show from their past when the show was a bit more raucous and randy. You'll hear voices & topics from our show guests and friends, the likes of; racer Richie Zull, cheesy Italian lingo, a human crash test dummy, the meaning of stoop ball, Dina & Drew Parise, Peppi Marchello from the Good Rats, Butch Patrick, Antonio Fargas & the King of Kustomizers himself, George Barris.
Ray & Chris have the pleasure of spending an hour with Austin Coop from "2 Lane America" learning about the historic and fun Route 66 tour he runs. The winter that won't end has us car guys firmly in its grasp and we want to get out to some of our favorite car shows and cruises! Chris talks about how hard it is working on a car while wearing vinyl gloves in cold weather. We learn that his Ford Explorer engine makes noise and has a lower oil pressure when run on synthetic oil than it does when filled with a blended product. The way dash gauges and driver information is conveyed drives both Chris & Ray a little nuts, and they tell us all about it too.
"Elvis Hitler" and Motorhead provide the music this week, but the specifics of LED bulb conversions really light up the first half of the show. The new postal Low Rider stamp takes us on a nostalgic trip to s time when cars had more alarm buzzers than real safety features. The boys reach out to their streaming listeners asking for a call-in and get a prompt response! Dokk from Montana calls about modified tools and mangled lug nuts and of course, our duo has answers for him. Ray does an in-studio demo of his Matco pressurized spray can & describes their wheel stud cleaning kit and handy wrench extender to Chris. This week the boys try to help a caller find an oil leak that's been nagging her. Routine maintenance on the family car turns to talk about the different methods of brake bleeding available, and Ray is ready to go to the next level and buy a pressure bleeder. A caller's dim interior lights in a RAV-4 are overshadowed by the enlightened messages Ray receives after talking with Rabbi Perl from the radio station. and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/FkzKo6cnGyc
Once the boys got past whining about the recent snow the talk turned to an Internet trick for dismounting tires, of course there were "explosive" results by the end of that conversation. Ray complained about the tiny bleeders on Wilwood calipers, and Chris laid out his Chrysler headlight door repair method. Power trunk release mechanisms and concave right side mirrors rounded out the hour. In typical MotorMouth fashion, our first topic is how to diagnose a modern washing machine by reading its trouble codes. Next up is Chris' frustration with small brake bleeder fittings, and we learn that he just needs better tools. Ray talks about a custom ratchet MatcoMan Brian made for him but Chris ain't buyin' it! A new tilt steering column & custom bucket seats are up next for the GTO to complement its new paintjob. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/wWfcUuJ5eGM
The frigid winter weather finds the boys talking about snow blower maintenance and repair. Guest Louis Lee from the "Playing-N-Traffic" show talks about his school bus conversion into a standalone, fully self-sustainable travel and camping vehicle for his retirement travels. The guys were particularly interested in learning more about the Signature Solar panels, batteries & inverter he's using to powerup the project. Camping brings up the subject of dealing with, and shooting snakes in the desert. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio
and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/IAWfN8V4wVA
Talk of winter vehicle maintenance & East Coast temperatures caused a long time listener to call from Montana and tell the boys what REAL cold weather is like. Both Ray & Chris are having trouble with the windshield washers in their Mazda's, and Ray's powder coated tow-tabs are all the rage as a "Day 2" addition. He'll also be adding electric AC cooling fans to his GTO this year. Solar power talk brings up the thought for a great show guest next week....stay tuned. The boys celebrate their 23rd anniversary of doing MotorMouth Radio by promising to bring the listeners another year of quality automotive content. Shop heaters come up and the Diesel type is by far the winner as far as the audience is concerned. Ray shows some brake fluid testers and implores us to have a service performed while Chris explains the weird new tumor he experienced on a recent road trip. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio
and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/UHZOe0Ouem0
We close the year with a visit from our favorite toolman, MatcoMan Brian. Ray asks what it's like running a tool truck and the answer is sure to surprise many people. We learn of Manny Rosa's "danger drive" road trip on an un-verified Honda Goldwing, then discuss cleaning carburetor's ultrasonically in Pine-Sol. Damage repair on Ray's GTO, welding surge suppressors, and custom paint color matching all come up. Brian wraps it up by explaining various tool storage options available to the home or pro mechanic. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/8ZvpZZX0v9A
We're ending the year with talk of crazy Christmas parties, and one where Ray found a good sideline of backing a quarter pitching player to earn a good profit. Riviera power trunk releases on eBay get some show time, as does trying to find a correct interior for Chris' Chrysler. An Altima A/C compressor swap that was like giving birth leaves the guys groaning. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/ryIRjwSWqQw
With the year quickly winding down, the boys bring in Carl Anthony from Automoblog.com to cover some hot topics from the past year. Ray chooses having a root canal over doing more Mustang work, then finds that a guest at the U.D. Christmas party is a show listener! With the help of Carl, the boys talk about portable tire air inflators & the "little piston that couldn't". Automotive telemetric options wrap up this hour of fun. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/sdzUNXiPvdw
The boys convey a very New York social condition called the "I've gotta guy" theory, Ray describes how a simple hose connection can cause a death wobble in a Borgeson power steering system, and how specific the headlight & hi-beam dimmer switches are in a 66 Mustang. A Cobra no-start stirs up the diagnostic juices and a caller has a question about a Slant 6 torque converter. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/JzAKHVeISYQ
Ray shows off the Hot Rod Rally album he's been annoying Chris with for weeks, then tells his strategy for switching out a summer car for the winter beater. V-Belt sizing secrets are revealed, then a caller talks about the value of having a portable air compressor, which leads to talk about portable battery power packs for car use. The new trend in large size ratcheting wrenches are illustrated with in-studio props. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/sYyTs6oiUsI
A toolbox mishap finds Ray taking out the drawers and lubricating them for more trouble-free use. Chris suggests the Holley Street Avenger carb that was worked on is still an unreliable air/fuel mixer, but Ray counters with a story about trying to get repair parts from a Chinese company. Issues with the Mustang Borgeson steering conversion wrap up this hour of fun. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/CWdotK_DL74
Chris decides to get the vacuum actuated power trunk release in his Chrysler working while Ray chose to go with an electric actuator for his car. Vacuum hose availability and prices come up, as does the garage find Holley 750 cfm carburetor Ray builds for the Olds 442. The '66 Mustang power steering conversion project gets started & Chris asks us about our car owner's manual collections. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/rPaps9LgWXk
Ray turns "Hellbound Hot Rods" into "Hell Hound" from a 70's Brooklyn power trio to Chris' amazement. A model car show put on by the L.I.A.R.S. featured a recreation of Chassis John's Firebird, bad fuel pump flare fittings are complained about, and Matco Vintage Specification Guides are mentioned when talking about ABS brake bleeding. Carl Anthony from Automoblog.com gives information about buying a portable tire air inflator. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on

Chris questions the source of the groovy 60's car culture music used on the show, then Ray segues into an inspection he did on a classic 1959 Jaguar XK150. Chris explains how he did a transmission fluid change on his wife's car, then talk shifts to the steering box seals Ray changed on the Olds 442. A power steering conversion on a mid-60's Mustang as well as a plug and play clutch slave & master cylinder on a tow truck round out the hour. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/LnxetQtsIao
Chris questions the sanity of the recent Indiana road trip Ray took to pick up a project car with a couple of friends. The choice to buy a car that's out of state vs shopping locally gets thrown around until a caller brings up the topic of EFI vs carburetion, followed by talk about the current GM strikes & EV possibilities.
When Chris can't do the show rescue comes in the form of MatcoMan Brian, where he fields the question "when are too many tools too much?" Being tool addicts, Brian & Ray talk about buying tool collections and how to dispose of theirs when they're gone. Using Tap/Drill bits is discussed, as well as general shop safety and new & retro tool company stickers. Ray meets a listener and his 1st Snap-On tool dealer in his favorite record store. Chris complains about speakers in car doors and Ray changes it up to talk about some brake line flaring tips he recently learned & the new Matco flaring tool he's using. The dangers of using compression fittings in a brake system are covered, and Chris poses the question "is The Jeep brand dead?" Catching up this week the boys talk about how racers like Richie Zul will NEVER divulge their speed secrets, even 40 years later! How performance mufflers sound different on each car they're installed on, why using the correct battery cable color is important, and a Ford recall on a lighting module. Ray confesses the knucklehead mistake he made while trying to multi-task in the shop, then passes on some grease fitting adapter advice to Chris who had a hard time removing one from a zerk fitting. When Elliott Weiner & Pat McNulty come in to do the show you know it's time for their annual collaboration car show between the T-Bird and Mustang clubs. It's all about "the baby Birds" and "the big birds" when these guys get together, but it's always a show that will delight and make even a non-Ford guy smile. The guys covered the history of the show, plus talked about a rare Edsel. Ray dropped a parts question on the guys concerning a 67 T-Bird that's coming into the shop this week for a make-over. Hard to find tools and car parts also got some air time this week. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/k3T48T8BGQk
Catching up with the boys finds them talking about living with, and driving a sports car as a daily driver, even in the snow. Love and distain for luggage racks & roll bars is shared, and Ray relates how he was spotted by listeners at a cruise night and a gun show all in one week. Chris laments the O-rings on a Holley 600 carburetor & Ray recounts his Olds 442 motor mount hell experience. This week our crew picks up where they left off with their favorite P.R. ad-man, Marty Schorr. His story of a volunteer American race team that's traveling to Italy to participate in the prestigious Mille Miglia, "Team Zora" will be entering a 1957 Corvette outfitted EXACTLY as it would have been from the factory to run this 1,000-mile race. The details have to be heard to be believed, so sit back and enjoy this great story. Back in 2018 we did a live remote broadcast from the MALBA car show in Whitestone
Queens, with this being the second hour. The show was a hit even due to the rain, and some special guests like Gary the Local Brush, Auto Crimes Cliff, and the host, Billy Velvet joined us in our safe bunker and gave us some great commentary and history about this fantastic show.
The boys were all set for a rousing hour of conversation with one of their favorite P.R. and Advertising men, Marty Schorr, formerly of Motion Performance, when technical difficulties struck. Having Billy G. in the meeting kept the show alive, and Marty was eventually able to join in and talk about his upcoming "Team Zora" Motorsports Corvette reunion to be held in Italy next year. A caller tells a story of how he regularly sees an original Motion BelAir in one of our local towns and naturally we want to know more about it. This show starts out with a THUD when Chris can't get a signal that'll allow him to sign on, so Ray ad-libs and explains how to diagnose a wimpy feeling four-wheel disc brake installation. Billy Velvet calls in to talk about the upcoming MALBA car show and gives us all a good rundown of the history involved. Chris shows off his "rags for all purposes" and Ray diverts to talking about some really good local cruise night spots. The show closes out with the ins and outs of what makes for successful car show judging practices. Check our social media feed to see the pictures; on Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on

The boys do a little follow up on old topics when Ray reports on the successful
'69 Road Runner repair, then segues into the ongoing disc brake conversion on the 66 Mustang shop project. Master cylinder selection is a hot topic, as is using non-stock parts in a repair or restoration. Chris details some small interior changes that made a big difference in his Chrysler, then lamented about getting a rounded nut stuck in a socket.

Chris poses a question about having a used car looked at pre-purchase and Ray
offers quite a few reasons why this is a good idea. Ray ran into an interesting problem when
bleeding the brakes on a new disc brake install on a Mustang, and brought in the specialty
measurement gauge he used to verify and solve the "no pedal" issue. It was learned that
tearing down the top end of an Olds 455 is easier said than done, or Ray is just getting old.

The boys start the show with a tribute to a lost friend & show participant "Chassis John," then Chris talks about his "poor Tracker seat belt." Ray recounts how he tested and diagnosed a bad horn relay, which leads into car battery replacement intervals. A caller offers up some advice to Chris on how to best eliminate that annoying mouse odor in his car. We end the show with another classic Chassis John clip, check our social media feed to see the pictures. On Instagram: @real_motormouthradio and on You Tube: https://youtu.be/2NREDOZuDy0
Ray talks about meeting a cool guy with a cooler car at the Corvette Society Club pizza event. Ray thought it was a Rambler, but Rick's car turned out to be a Studebaker Daytona with a 383 Stroker under the hood that has a minor cooling system error and a super stiff clutch. Carl Anthony from Automoblog.com joins the boys and talks about the recent Hagerty article that Ray had some input on concerning Gen Z drivers. A show wouldn't be complete without dessert, so Ray mentions how he stopped off at the Rolling Joint food truck for a dope treat, check our social media feed to see the pictures. The carpet conundrum in Chris' Tracker is fixed, only to be eclipsed by a rodent infestation. Our good friend Kilowatt Kevin gets the Endura nose on his 68 GTO aligned by "the old school master", Steve, at Celebrity Chase Collision, then helps Ray re-install the gas tank in the 70 442 at the shop. The transmission mount for that car proves to be a problem when the parts house sends the wrong one, stalling forward progress. Ray uses a Hybrid truck to run some shop errands and becomes a convert, who would've ever believed that... check our social media feed to see the pictures. Chris shares his victorious repair of a random engine misfire on the families Mazda CX-9. Ray dives right into his recent experiments with the ultrasonic cleaner to de-carbon some of his guns as well as its use in carburetor rebuilding work. Various tricks and tips are shared for using this type of cleaning method. A caller complains about a Caddy power trunk release that won't activate, and Ray talks about a 1969 Road Runner that breaks up on acceleration that he's going to look at this coming week... check our social media feed to see the pictures! After Ray talks about an inspection he did on a questionable Porsche 911 the talk
turns to soldering a gas tank crack. A concerned caller warns of all the badness that can happen by doing this job , and the boys don't disagree. Chris is still having fuel injector
issues with his CX9 which leads to a rousing discussion about fuel additives. A new
arrival at the shop is teased, and you'll see it at the end of this video... or check our

We bring back an old friend who's made her mark on the automotive journalism world when Elana Scherr, senior Features editor of Car & Driver magazine shares the hour this week. We talk about her eclectic car projects; the Jensen, Opel & Trans Am, as well as her Car & Driver duties. Imperial vs metric measurement woes come up when Elana talks about a specific sewing class she recently took. Ray reports on the recent 442 project at the shop, and finding some very old MMR Cassette tapes of is first show...check the social media feed to see the pictures!
Ray & Chris reminisce back 12 years to their 10th show anniversary party that was held at a junkyard (where else?). Good friends and listeners Debbie & Rusty came down with a vintage racing go-kart, and this week Ray attended a celebration of Rusty's life where he was shot from a cannon and 4 rockets! Chris posits that car guys are a superstitious bunch, then admits that he's better at sewing than welding. A dealership software hack & Mazda belts round out the show.
This week the guys delve into the dark science of classic automotive restoration strategies. Between their own projects and the ones their friends are involved with, there's plenty of fodder for this mill too. Ray reports a good experience after using Rislone fuel treatment to resolve a P0420 Cat code in a family car, then explains the parts he needs to complete the A/C installation in his GTO. Chris takes us home with a neat repair on his Tracker exhaust system.
Ray is transfixed by a complex rearview mirror repair, then spends time at the "Rolling Joint" food truck car cruise. Replacing a blown shock with a good used one solved the problem of the Fiat sitting too low in the rear, and Chris knows why a pair of 30-year-old sneakers has a cut mark in them. Falling asleep while doing a podcast, as well as the many options available for disc brake conversion hardware wrap up this hour of fun.
Chris ruminated over his paint-soaked Tracker carpet issue & Ray mused over Fiat's selection of clutch cable adjusting hardware. Then, joined by Lake Speed Jr. the show got wings and took off into the unchartered territories of oil technology. Terms like zinc, calcium, phosphorous and viscosity were tossed around like projectiles at a beer pong party. Lake covered all the hard topics and passed on some excellent recommendations we can all use.
We brought in some heavy hitters to compliment our EV knowledge this week
with MatcoMan Brian and Carl Anthony from Automoblog. We covered waning EV sales, the
charging anxiety many people are experiencing, and the new "electrici-trees" NYC is working
on implementing to help the charging issue. Many thoughts were thrown out there, but not
all of them were fully explored....stay tuned for more to come.
Kicking off the "new year" (post Mother's Day) portion of the show, Ray describes to Chris how he cleaned his balls and will soon be polishing them, and of course he was referring to his pool table equipment. The use of Cataclean gets a thumbs up, but a CEL in the Impala gets a head scratch from even the experts. Chris describes with great detail how an "Italian Tune-Up" is performed, followed by an example of how to use a paint thickness gauge. Ray's visit to a mega-car facility raises some questions.
Following a long tradition of doing a "best-of" show where we feature bits that highlight the callers, this is the 2024 edition. Featuring the likes of "Billy Velvet", the "ROMEO Club", and the Hijinx found on MatcoMan Brian's tool truck, we deep dive into the past year and find reflective thoughts from men like Dave Hayes and Carl Anthony, but the capper is Bob from RVC bestowing the MotorMouth Person of the Year on Tom from Massapequa. Not even Ray's "Crack cream" story can beat that show stopper.
On our first fundraising hour we talk about how to check a serpentine belt, what goes into buying a used car, and how much debris can actually accumulate between vehicle cleanings. Ray's home-repaired garage stereo system gets a late nod to the do-it-yourself mantra this show professes weekly.
The show starts off on a clean note by talking about changing the cabin air filter in your car. A caller with a 428 CJ Fairlane diverts the boy's attention with his parts search problems, then Chris explains a "new" brake bleeding technique he came upon. Remember car cigarette lighters? We talk about them on this show too.
Ray recounts the details of a recent southern road trip and Chris gives us the "caught red-handed" story about a rodent infestation in one of the family cars. Freeport Raceway trivia is talked about, and a caller has a problem with his power windows and door locks, Chris reads his latest recall letter from Ford.
Ray relays the Maxda sunroof repair that even he can't fully believe. Guest Carl Anthony from www.automoblog.net dives deep into Ray's story about driving an old Chevy cross country on its 38th anniversary, then schools us all on the Gartner Hype Cycle. Callers discuss Grand Funk Railroad trivia with the crew, and Chris questions the practicality of EV car use moving forward.
Chris kicks us off with a story of clogged drains, to which Ray counters with his worst cabin air filter encounter. Show friend Mike Mooney gets some air time this week talking about the Griffith automobile and Ray warns that one can never take anything for granted when working on an older car. A caller talks about fixing broken parts on the fly, raising some MacGyver stories, and we close with Chris' tale of three questionable recalls.
Ray recounts the Rolls Royce pre-purchase inspection he did this week, then Chris tells a story about how a local tire shop raked him over the coals for a simple service. Using a new USB soldering iron and charging old battery types gets discussed, as well as the Matco tools Ray bought and put right to good use.
The boys propose a thought that everyone should get in the Spring spirit and dust off and complete an old car project. Ray takes it in another direction and suggests that hanging out with good friends is the real gift of Spring, while Chris battles with changing clips that hold parts in place. Weird noises that you can't identify come into play, as does a small spring that has a mind of its own in Ray's garage.
Ray recounts a haunting issue with a Jeep where the radio dies when the lights are turned on. Carl Anthony from Automoblog.net is back and Ray gives him the full-on Grunge talk-up. Chris poses the question asking when you know it's time to keep or sell a collector car. A caller asks about the whereabouts of the Art Cars from Steve Hooper's collection, and the origins of STP treatment are questioned.
This show covers the relationship between car guys and good NY pizza, MatcoMan Brian talks about the recent tool expo and the new Matco flip-out panel clip tool. Callers respond by talking about their tool buying experiences and the benefits of buying from a local tool truck vendor. Ray relates how he would have recently bought a specific tool from the 1st truck that would have stopped by the shop.
Ray relates how pathetic the show's social media presence is, Chris has luck selling a used car to a young buyer, and the boys talk about the cool articles in the 50-year-old car magazines Ray is still reading. A caller's ABS brake trouble and some winter projects keep the show moving for the rest of the hour.
Even though our boys think they're slick and exotic they know the real score and have secured an interview with a real pro in field, Mr. Lake Speed Jr. who's a verified Tribologist. Oil brands, blend specifics, additive packages and testing procedures are covered, as well as the controversial concern about ZDDP levels.
This week we reported on a resolution from the contentious Kawasaki sold at a Hagerty auction, then Ray brought up the correct interpretation of local highway bridge height markings. Holley carburetor and Sniper EFI cold start protocol's were discussed, then chrome from spray cans and factory coatings got tossed around.
It was a trivia filled hour when the boys talked about the iconic 60's show car "The Uncertain-T" and a local custom Corvette that surfaced recently. Ray is jazzed over an Olds 442 that's coming into the restoration shop for him to work on, and a friend's 63 Lincoln is making forward progress in its re-do too.
As has been our emerging pattern, when the Hagerty Bull list report comes out we're sure to have Carl Anthony from Automoblog.net on with us to share his industry based thoughts since ours are firmly from the streets & garages of America. This week we also covered the auction purchase of a C2 Corvette a friend made, and all of the specifics associated with a purchase of that nature.
Ray kicks off the show explaining his deep dive into Southern Rock then follows up with a warning about carrying a floor jack in your car trunk. A caller brings up his experience with Fluid Film & cavity wax coatings which gets everyone chuckling. Cold driving tips are brought up as well as a very special
customized window washer made by a show friend.
What would a new year be if it didn't bring a control board problem for the boys. Chris had to be brought up on the phone line so there were no callers, but we still talked about our use of classic cars as junk haulers, the classic MMR "dirty T-shirt" contest, hydro locked engines and Motor diagnostic manuals. Ray's favorite, ABS brake bleeding techniques were also covered in this week's show.
The boys start the year by looking back at the highlights of the last one. A caller finds great joy in the eclectic Uncle Floyd music selection, and talking about old racing legends like Broadway Freddie. Fluid film technology and ABS brake bleeding procedures are also covered in this show.
With Chris out on a family road trip MatcoMan Brian makes his 4th guest host appearance and crushes it! "No Codes Ray" is born after he tried to diagnose two vehicles but got no scan data to work with. EV charging disfunction as well as brake bleeding and adjusting techniques get discussed, then a long term Mustang project, blowouts & junkyard parts wrap up the show, and the year.
The boys celebrate Christmas with some of their favorite Italian songs and talk about the traditions that their families followed. Road trip driving during the holidays is discussed along with the various strategies for getting where you're going safely. No holiday would be complete without food, and the boys dig into that topic too, then it all comes back to dealing with the ADAS strategies found in rental cars.
A mysterious non-working key fob kicks off the show and has the guys scratching their heads for an answer, then special guest Carl Anthony from Automoblog.net joins the show and talks about an event held at Greenfield Village in Michigan where Carl took a ride in a classic Model T Ford. Carl talks about other significant cars like the Chrysler Turbine and the spooky 1970 Challenger "Black Ghost".
Jumping into the holiday spirit Ray shows off part of his "Rasta-Claus" party outfit while Chris rants about parking lot & traffic ethics and oddities. An out of town caller relates how he drove 500 miles for some local food, and agrees with Ray's love of "Utica Greens." Interior panel clip removal tools has MatcoMan Brian coming to the rescue, then body control module placement is discussed.
It's another fun filled show where the boys talk about the benefits of having a car purchase inspected by a qualified professional, with Chris providing his thoughts about selling a car privately. The sunroof water leak on Ray's car gets diagnosed in a most simple and ingenious way, then he shows off a paint thickness gauge that wows the crowd. A caller declares the MMR "person of the year" for 2023.
Still suffering from a Turkey infused haze, Chris tell stories about how car pictures found on eBay can be utterly confusing to follow, and Ray relays his yearly tradition of working at the shop on Thanksgiving while listening to Alice's Restaurant. Tracking down water leaks in car windows and funny speaker noises are covered, as well as the Turkey Rod Run in Florida & engine sensor changes.
Last minute guest Pirate Paul drops in on the MotorMouth's to talk shop. Since he and Chris share the love of working on old Chryslers, the topic of what it takes in time, labor and cost to restore these cars comes up. Auto parts prices in general are discussed, which leads the boys to share their small parts storage strategies. The mystery behind a drawer of razor blades with an interesting graphic is confirmed by a caller, and another caller calls to report some shoddy shop practices during a recent service.
The boys talk about a recent model car show and the skills needed to compete with the masters of today, as compared to their meager offerings. Ray reports having a "ghost in the machine" with his GTO power trunk opener, and Chris talks up the benefits of changing ignition coils as a maintenance procedure. Ray works on a Barris Bugazzi, and a caller updates us on his 67 Camaro 4 speed trans issues. The Corvette Society meeting and the Pacers race team are upcoming show guests.
Our long-time caller, listener and friend, Christian Price visits the studio to share the good news about the return of Orient Express Motorcycles right here on Long Island. Partnered with K-Tech suspension they're working with racers and technicians alike with trackside help and classroom seminars to teach others how to work with the latest in race suspension. Callers share some surprise stories and Christian surprises Ray with a very special Orient Express gift.
Chris questions the sanity of the recent road trip to Indiana Ray took to pick up a project car with a couple of friends. The choice to buy a car that's out of state vs shopping locally gets thrown around until a caller brings up the topic of EFI vs carburetion, followed by talk about the current GM strikes & EV possibilities.
On this show the boys ponder if the price of classic cars isdropping, and how to best transport the one you do buy. A callers question about the ball joint fitment on his QA1 control arms, ignition coil replacement intervals, Chris' flaky voltage regulator, and carbs vs EFI are all covered.
The boys start the show reporting the sad news that "Mr. Motion" Joel Rosen has passed away. Ray dives deep into the way back machine and talks about a party he attended that was 70's themed...and he's still dressing the part! Evan Steger joins the show to talk about the products his company
sells, one of which turned the GTO rims into shining jewels.
Chris goes to the extreme to stop a garage roof leak while Ray battles another family car with a P0300 code that led to bad coils & spark plugs. A second family car is down with a bad catalytic converter, leaving Ray in the role of chauffer until they're fixed. Chrome plating procedures are discussed, as well as a rebirth of the Soapbox Derby racing here on Long Island.

The same Mustang reminded us that bad grounds and wiring are everywhere in older cars, and Chris took us home with a story about polishing his cars headlight lenses.
This week we fondly remember our good friend and show contributor Chassis John Guerriero. John passed way too soon and we share some audio clips from past shows in his memory. Chris' Chrysler fuel injector fiasco comes to a happy ending, as does the "on the fly" timing adjustments he made to his Tracker. Can you say "project car"?
Ray & Chris dive right into the nagging topics of lawnmower repair and maintenance then ask a prolific question; "Is the MotorMouth Radio jinx contagious?" That leads to talk of bringing car parts into the house and cleaning them in a kitchen dishwasher, and a list of automotive fluids that have stained our family lawns when we were growing up. You don't get stuff like this on NPR my friend, not by a long shot!
As has been our tradition since the beginning of this show when no guests were available on Mother's Day, we decided to compile a "best-of" show of sorts. Highlighting some of the most interesting and funny calls from the previous year, this installment is no different where we cover new tools, guys who skip out on paying their tool bills, and what makes us all continue staying in this hobby we love so dearly. Paying closer attention to vehicle grounds especially on an older car is discussed, as is the cool factor of owning a Bullitt Mustang.
Ray lays out a mysterious combination of fault codes his FJ Cruiser displayed, but before the boys could delve into the diagnosis too deeply they were joined by Louis & Tyler from the "Bustin' Out Skoolie" roof raising project. This led to the boys talking about 4 Wheel Drive maintenance as well as a garbage picked snow blower Ray restored and is currently using. A new method used for stealing catalytic converters was discussed by a caller, and how our favorite cars of yore rusted out before they were mechanically expired made us all weep for nostalgic reasons.
A non-spritzing washer pump drives Chris up the wall and leads him to work out in the cold. Ray bought a "Motor Mouth" album at Infinity records & spots an interesting detail on the cover. A stuck caliper slide pin on a Cruze drives Ray wild, which leads to stories about working out in the ice & snow in younger years, along with what car projects are good to do indoors during the winter months.
An iconic Brooklyn institution of slot car racing, Buzz-A-Rama, closed recently and Chris delivers a heartfelt eulogy for the passed owner. The boys talk about the culture behind racing slots as well as their small counterparts, the Aurora and AF/X versions, then are joined by guests Louis Lee and Tyler Long who talk about the epic roof raising event later this month on Louis' full sized bus. The phones light up over this story, since it's such a terrific project bringing together builders from across the country.
Back with a vengeance to kick off our 20th year of broadcasting, the boys start the show by talking about stopping, more specifically how to adjust a car's brake pushrod. The show quickly transitions into the finer points of model car building and some of the crazier Craigslist ads the guys & a caller have seen. One of the shows regular callers promises to send a picture of how he "measured the sunshine" down in Florida.
January marks the 20 year anniversary of MotorMouth Radio and Ray & Chris decided there was no better way to commemorate it than to compile show bits featuring many of the colorful listeners, callers & guests from the span of the show, as well as ALL of the co-hosts who've worked on it (six in total). Sit back and enjoy this mash-up of topics and personalities that have made us what we are, some aren't with us anymore and some are still going strong. Who knows, you may find yourself featured in this fitting tribute to a fine show.
Ray & Chris have the immense pleasure of talking with Marty Schorr (previously of Cars magazine & Motion Performance) about his good friend Bill Kolb, a a die-hard Ford salesman, racer & a total Ford fanatic. Marty's time spent driving cars like the early Shelby's, GT-40's, and Cobras out of Bill's dealerships are stories to be awed by and listened to carefully. Marty also talks about his time as a magazine editor and V.P. as well as his future plans of writing a book about the GT-40 development.
It's a very enlightening show this week when Ray & Chris talk with good friends MatcoMan Brian and Luke Tucker from the EZRED company. Ray shares a rant about Internet based shipping costs and why it's a good reason to buy auto parts locally. A local car Ray spied in his neighborhood might make a good retirement project, and Chris delves into the details of checking tire pressure correctly.
The show starts off with a rant of sorts by Chris, who's complaining about a starter he recently bought at an automotive chain store. Ray picks up the torch and runs with it talking about an issue he has with Chinese carburetor rebuilding kits made for American 4-barrel carbs. Slow tire leaks & how to fix them get tossed around and the boys talk about various types of chokes found on older cars.

Ray poses a question asking which style of windshield washer nozzle people prefer best, which leads to the rare occasion of he and Chris agreeing! Chassis John provides an in-depth SEMA update, and Chris winds up the show with the mention of an annoying radio commercial that mentions a specific car type.
This show kicks off talking about vintage Chrysler automatic transmissions then shifts to the new S.L.E.E.P. act in NY which bans muffler and exhaust modifications. Since Ray brought his recently finished GTO to this years MALBA car show the boys decided what better way to commemorate the event than by re-playing the show they did a live remote from. Back in 2018 Ray & Joe had the pleasure of sitting with Marty Schorr of Motion Performance fame at this prestigious car show by the bay. An unexpected appearance from "Dartboard Laura" made this event one to remember.

an unruly son, backyards that resembled junkyards and studio guests who brought in some mouth
watering food round out an hour of found memories from a truly challenging year.
