What did Jesus mean when he admonished us to “give in secret” and to not “let your right hand know, what your left hand is doing”

In this segment, we will discuss giving lavishly from the heart, rather than the law, to those who labor among you in the teaching of the Word, and equally as importantly, to those in financial need, sitting right next to you in the pew.
In this episode we will take a deep look at Hebrews 7 and Genesis 14 to examine Abrahams tithe to Melchizedek. This is a frequently used argument by those who believe that the Levitical law of tithing is still for today.
Today we examine the commonly used passages in Malachi, that are either sincerely misunderstood by well meaning pastors or worse, are intentionally being used out of context in order to manipulate church members for their own personal gain.
Is the “Tithe” commanded in the Old Covenant a requirement of New Covenant believers? We will deeply exam the origins and purposes of tithe in the old covenant and the popular scriptures on this topic, that are misused (some purposefully and some unintentionally) today by many church leaders, to attempt to convince their congregations that tithing is a new covenant REQUIREMENT. Both Jesus and the apostles encouraged new covenant believers to give lavishly (especially to the poor) but neither of them EVER commanded the new covenant believers to give a tithe (10%). Jesus did however, address the Pharisees for their hypocrisy of tithing faithfully while simultaneously neglecting deeds of mercy. During this multiple episode series, Dean will discuss this scripture in Luke, along with Malachi and Hebrews and many many others. So we encourage you to take notes. This message will open your eyes to many misunderstood and misapplied texts of scripture. The light bulb will go off and you will absolutely be liberated!!!!

Today Dean will be unpacking the difficult passage in Romans 9: “Jacob I loved, Esau I hated”. There is so many other passages that dean will bring out that brings out the far bigger picture here, than simply trying to make full sense of this passage on its own.
Today we take a look at the significance of Isaac and Ishmael in verses 7-9 of Romans 9. Understanding the significance of Isaac and Ishmael is key to a correct understanding of Romans 9.
We will take a look at one of the commonly taught doctrine and beliefs of Calvinism, which states that God has chosen people before they were born, to Heaven or to Hell and that the common man just has to hope he’s one of the lucky ones to get picked...if he’s not, no matter how bad he wants it....there is no hope for him....atleast that’s how Calvin sees it.
We continue to examine as a group, the very questionable book circulating in the church: Physics Of Heaven. This is a discussion that is very eye opening and important for us as Christians to be more aware of Satans devices.
In the next few episodes we will take a close look at a book, being sold by Christianbooks.com and by Bethel Church online bookstore. The book is Physics Of Heaven and it is a compilation of different article of various pastors and teachers (from Bill Johnson to Bob Jones). It seems to be, that the collective belief of these writers, is that Christians have a lot to learn from the New Age movement. The Forward (endorsement) of this book is written by Kris Vallotton. If you are a mature believer and very well grounded in scripture, you may wish to purchase the book to verify the content for yourself, although it is certainly not necessary. There is a lot of group involvement in this discussion , which makes for a very very interesting and thought provoking episode! Much input will be given by our friend Cindy, who was deeply involved in the New Age, before fully surrendering her life to Christ. (Dean or Cindy are available if you have further questions)
In this session we will dive deep into multiple scriptures to refute the deceptive theology that God has made us “little gods” like Himself, who have equal authority to God Himself. Has God given us authority? Absolutely! But have some Christians taken this too far? Absolutely! Get your Bibles out...we are going to dig deep.
What are some of the various new age rooted deceptions that are creeping into the church? Are they obvious or cloaked in Christian lingo? How common are these deceptions? How concerned should we be? Hint: VERY!
There are various dangerous doctrines slowly gaining a foothold in the American Church, a few of which are the little gods doctrine and new age mysticism.
There are many possibilities as to why we suffer in this life, and in this class we will examine a couple of possibilities. We explore these questions by taking a deeper look at the “Love of God”...Is this God’s only character trait? Is this the totality Of His personality? Or is He far deeper, and more intricate than we give him credit for? Hint: YES! “But, He is love,right??” OF COURSE He is, but His multi-faceted Love, is FAR more than emotional goose bumps, akin to swaying in the wind to the Beatles song: “All You Need Is Love”.
Ruth Westbrook draws from some Old Testament history, to challenge us to both endure our current trial while also listening closely for the Masters voice.
Learning to endure trials on this narrow road of Christianity is both possible and can in the end, be rewarding. Jesus promised: “In this world, you will have tribulation, BUT, be encouraged, I have overcome the world”. If someone lied to you when you got saved and told you that Jesus was going to meet your every desire and you would never go through hard times, then this message will be both eye-opening and encouraging.

I’ll give you a hint, it might not be what you think! Like Samuel, our first impulse is generally to look at outward appearance, therefore we tend to battle in more outward ways. We work very hard at trying to drum up excitement in our worship services or fight super competitively, and often rudely, in political and social circles...the question is: are these things truly effective or looked upon with favor by God? Let’s take a closer look together.

There are MANY examples of the importance of context, but today we briefly examine a common scripture that has been lifted out of its context and has confused millions of people and has been used as a foundational scripture for one of the largest religions in the world.
One of the most critical needs in the body of Christ today, is to study scripture in context. It is a very common practice of many layman and leaders, to attempt to interpret and to teach doctrinal concepts by intentionally or unintentionally, lifting single scriptures out (as if with a pair of tweezers!) and building entire doctrines around them, without fully exploring the context in which the statement was made. It is CRITICAL to a proper understanding of the Bible and it’s teachings, that we read the TOTALITY of what the writer was communicating and not just take a snip-it here and a snip-it there. If you ever wonder why the Bible APPEARS at times to contradict itself, then this teaching will make so much sense to you and give you practical tools to solve the puzzle.
This is a continuation of part 7A. In this section Dean will walk us through the practical application of using reference materials, along with our Bibles, to study a particular Bible subject. The subject we will use our Bibles and our reference books to explore today, is: “What Actually Is The Law And Is It Meant For New Testament Christians?”
There are many many helpful tools to aid in your study of the Word of God. In this short teaching, Dean will recommend some of the most used reference materials used by layman and scholars alike, materials that are readily available for little to no cost to you online or at your favorite bookstore. These Reference books are incredibly helpful when you are trying to study a particular subject or find an answer to a difficult Bible question. You don’t have to be a seminary graduate to understand the Word of God, you just need the right attitude, the right tools and the Holy Spirit!

This Is Part 3, in a series on “Studying The Bible” in which we explore the critical need for Christians to know and understand doctrine for themselves instead of relying on someone else’s knowledge. In this segment we show how victory over sin comes from both the Holy Spirit AND meditating on God’s Word. YES! Lasting victory IS possible! You are an overcomer THROUGH Christ Jesus our Lord! ALL things are possible through Christ Jesus who strengthen you! In John 15, Jesus spoke of the need to abide in His Word, in order to be fruitful and the Psalmist David declares, “I have hidden Thy Word in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” There is life giving power in the Word of God!
This is the first message in a series on Studying The Bible and why this discipline is so critically essential to walking with God. If you lack motivation to read the Word or be diligent, I promise this will motivate you! If your regular Bible Study is going through a popular program, like: “Read your Bible in 365 days Plan” then you are certainly getting some milk everyday, but you are seriously missing the meat that comes from first and foremost, reading your Bible as a pleasure rather than a task to achieve for the day and secondly, you are likely misunderstanding many truths because much of what you are reading is out of context due to the little snippets here and there and jumping rapidly all over the scriptures. You’d be spiritually better off to spend one day a week for an hour or so, and read an entire book of the New or Old Testament, rather than skipping all over the place for 15 minutes a day. So much meaning and context is lost when you read the Bible like that. You wouldn’t read an old box of love letters that way, you’d read the whole letter, to get the full picture, right? Please let me encourage you on effective and joyful ways to learn what God’s heart wants to speak to you through His Word and give you some VERY practical tools and tips. I promise not to bore you!
