A little country church in the town of Ryley, Alberta is the epicenter of this great volunteer work of providing handmade Bags of Love to meet the needs of displaced children. To support this labour of love, a community of quilters donate their creative, colorful work— some of the most beautiful quilts you will ever see—to go into the bags. The thought and care that goes into each quilt is truly heartwarming, and social workers and foster parents testify to the calming and comforting effects the bags have on children who have experienced the worst trauma of their lives. Having your very own quilt to cling to in those moments of overwhelming distress provides a great deal of comfort for these children. Today on IIWC, you will meet Jewel Lien and some of her team of volunteers who have two motives that keep them going: a deep love for children and an abiding trust in the LORD, Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that they would dare to ask or think, according to the power that works within all those who put their faith in Him.

ProGrace is a training and equipping organization whose vision is for Christians to embrace a grace-centered response to dealing with unplanned pregnancies; thus, creating communities where both the woman and the child can thrive. There are two foundational beliefs at the heart of the ProGrace mission: #1 God’s design for pregnancy was to intertwine a woman and a child. He has made it impossible for us to try to help one while bypassing the other, but instead calls us to work for the dignity and welfare of both. #2 God’s path for transformation for any of us is always grace, not judgment. So, we will extend the same grace we've received to any woman facing an unintended pregnancy.

Over the last few weeks, historic flooding occurred in British Columbia: mudslides, highways washed out, power outages, towns evacuated, land lost, vehicles lost, and lives lost. Bridges and mountain passes were also washed away, which meant that people were stranded alongside mountainous roads and highways, sometimes in their vehicles, and sometimes they had to abandon them. It’s hard to imagine how frightening that would be to be caught out in the cold in the middle of nowhere late at night, far from your home, not knowing how long you were going to be stranded or if you are going to even make it. One of the places where many people were stranded was along a back road near Hope, BC. A Christian campground called Camp Hope gladly took in close to 300 travelers.
