Demet Divaroren, Kylie Thomas and Julekha Akter were interviewed about the book What a Muslim Woman Looks Like
Listen to an interview that was aired by SBS Radio, World View Program, 1224AM, in March 2007. I discuss my novel The Wog Manual and talk about my inspiration, the themes, and being Bosnian.
The Wog Manual is a young adult novel, 70,000 words, set in Australia in 1994 and against the backdrop of the Balkan War.
The most Bosnian thing about Sabiha Omerovic, 16, is her name. When her extended family come to Australia as refugees she's yanked into the Bosnian way of life. To the Bosnians she's Australian, to the Australians she's Bosnian. Torn between the two she struggles to find her place.
