Lauren has been playing bass guitar for five years, picking up the instrument in year eight after formerly being an acoustic guitarist in primary school. This year Lauren has been working on a jazz funk set, built around artists who have inspired her as a young artist. Music is about expressing yourself through your sound and Lauren has been focusing on this concept and shaping herself as an artist through the various tones articulated in her playing. Her band the ‘Jo Lauren’s Trio’ brings a high energy grooviness to classic jazz funk tunes, with the twist of making the electric bass the lead and primary focus of the set. Being a new aspiring artist, Lauren wishes to continue her musical studies upon graduating high school and hopes to make a career as a well known bass guitarist in Melbourne.

Acclaimed singer songwriter and author Damien Leith has released his highly anticipated Damien Leith Storytime app and CD, designed specifically for children. Coinciding the app with a CD release by popular demand, the Storytime concept is all about encouraging children’s imaginations. The app is now available via iTunes and Google Play. The CD is available digitally and via a limited edition hard-copy release from Damien Leith’s website. https://www.damienleith.com.au/
Damien Leith is no stranger to releasing CDs – after all, he has been in the music industry for over a decade and has a plethora of albums under his belt. However, releasing a CD of stories is a new prospect. “It’s exciting to be releasing an album of kid stories rather than music,” he says. “I’ve released many albums over the years but this will definitely be a first for me. The ultimate goal for me is to make the stories accessible to everyone. Not everyone works with apps, not everyone plays CDs. This way the stories will be available to anyone – to the tech savvy person and the person who likes a physical CD too.”
