The way that we learn impacts so much and certainly continues having an impact well after we’re done traditional school. I invited Stephanie Sewell to join me on the podcast to talk about how we learn, about how that plays a role in how we feel about ourselves and our abilities (and how that was established very young) and how it continues to impact us as business owners.

I believe that the more we understand about ourselves the better off we are. I’m a fan of assessment tools that allow us to see how we all different and how to lean in to the things that work for US. The Kolbe assessment was one of the assessments I personally took that helped me understand some of the ways that I felt I was different than other business owners (and that made me feel like I couldn’t be as successful as others) and then it helped me see how my strengths could be used as an advantage instead of looking for the weaknesses.
I was excited to have Eryn join me on the podcast to talk a bit about Kolbe but more than that, how insightful it is to understand ourselves better. I hope you enjoy the episode!
Angie Cole is a dear friend of mine and when I relaunched the podcast I knew I would want to have her on as soon as possible. Her philosophies around trusting your instincts and going for the things that you want align so beautifully with mine and it’s something I think the whole world could use a bit more of.In this episode we talk about “going for it” and we got to talk a bit about the trip I took to Greece in 2020 to meet her - the trip I needed a lot of courage to take :) We talk about fear and growth and “wouldn’t it be nice” and “if only I could” and how and when to decide that you actually CAN.
Have a listen to this episode and let me know what your takeaways are and how you’ll go for it - and make sure to check out Angie on Instagram and her web site!

Exhaustion and unhappiness when it comes to both work and life seems to be rampant right now – and what most people jokingly call it but don’t realize it might actually be, is burnout. I invited Carleen Hicks to join me on the show to talk about some of the ways we view work and why it’s so exhausting, how we might all be at more of a risk for burnout than we think, and to talk about some of the ways we can be more aware of what life and work are feeling like.
After an almost two year hiatus I’m excited to bring back the podcast for season 4. This season I am going to be talking about confidence and breaking (or changing) the rules that hold us back.
I believe that at the heart of so many struggles in see in entrepreneurs is a lack of real confidence and belief that what they’d like to do is possible. We’re going to be talking about mindset and beliefs, how to gain more confidence, and how to start doing things in a way that will truly work for you - even if you think that’s not how “things are done.’
Together we’re going to keep exploring the ways you can grow your business in ways that feel good and make you money, without it meaning you have to sacrifice your life.

n today’s episode, I’m going over the five things that I see business owners struggle with regularly. I talk to people in various stages of life, and whether they're still in their careers or whether they're in business, they often struggle with how to love their work. It’s very important to me to help people find things that they actually enjoy doing and believe they can make a living doing. Loving what you do is kind of a big deal to me. I thought the perfect person to help people start figuring that stuff out would be Dr. Helen Ofosu.
Dr. Helen Ofosu’s background is in business psychology, officially known as industrial organizational psychology. She helps employers find the right people and makes sure they’re going to be able to deliver when they’re hired, not just say the right thing during an interview, but can actually deliver. She also offers support when it comes to issues related to diversity, inclusion and anti-racism. The other side of her business is working with individuals who want to enjoy their careers more, who aspire to become better leaders - leadership assessment and executive coaching.

I talk a lot about visibility and the impact it can have for your business, but most business owners are still afraid to post stuff online. With that in mind, I’ve invited Deepshika Sairam who is an Organic Lead Generation Expert and Business Mentor to the Biz Podcast today. She helps coaches and consultants scale their businesses with joy and ease.
This Biz Podcast episode discusses one of the most common reasons people hire a business coach - to help them figure out how to make MORE money. Business owners often want to make more money but they don't know how they're going to do it because they are already operating at full capacity. They have no more time.
How are they going to make more money without burning out, without feeling like everything is falling apart, and most importantly without hating their business?

When I talk to business owners, time is often the biggest obstacle and stressor. There’s never enough of it and entrepreneurs end up working all hours of the day and night trying to get everything done. As business owners, we often come up with ways to move our business forward, but then we add those ways to our already full to-do list and then comes the struggle and the defeat of never getting the important things done.
In this podcast episode, I am speaking with Maya Khanna Le Roy, founder of a coaching and strategy firm called MKLC who help entrepreneurs and leaders get clear and create space for their best work. We get into all the things you can think about and do to make things less dreadful.
When you have a great idea, but can’t find the time to execute it, it can feel awful.
You don't know how to do it. You feel like you can’t do it. You feel bad because you didn’t do it.
It’s exhausting so people avoid it.
If you’re feeling like you are at capacity, I want you to ask yourself these questions… Do I even want to scale? Do I want to talk about how things can change? Do I want to make more money?
If you answered, ‘yes but’… to any of them you aren’t alone.

This Biz Podcast episode is based on a previous training I did for entrepreneurs who felt like there is never enough money. Why are we always struggling to get comfy with having enough money to get everything we need both professionally and to pay ourselves?
Season 3, ep 12.png If you’ve experienced these feelings, you’re not alone. Many business owners feel like there is never enough money. Once you’re clear on why you are feeling this way, it opens up the path to feeling like there IS enough money.

A common conversation I have with people is around how they feel like they're working all the time. They're working so hard, and it still doesn't feel like it's enough. It feels like they're not making enough money or they're not able to figure out how they can grow to the next level because they're already working so much.
They're starting to resent their clients or resent their businesses or think maybe this wasn't the right thing for them to be doing in the first place.
They get frustrated and tired, and just don't want to do it anymore. And so, we work together to figure out what it is that's going on, and what it is they should be prioritizing. We discuss why it feels like they're out of time, out of options and frustrated.
I believe there are four things that are causing feelings of stress and overwork in so many business owners. Listen to find out all about them, of check out all the notes at www.thebiz.studio/bizpodcast

Productivity is a word many business owners throw around. Many people think productivity means just doing more, but it's not just doing more, it's about doing the right things. In essence, productivity is investing your best time into your best activities, which is a great framework because it can apply to anything.
My guest on the podcast today is productivity specialist, Amber De La Garza. Amber is a sought-after coach, trainer, speaker, writer, host of the Productivity Straight Talk podcast, and creator of the S.T.O.P. Leverage Formula. She helps business owners improve their time management and elevate their productivity to maximize profits, reduce stress, and make time for what matters most.

Life Coach and Success Mentor, Bethany Perry works with heart-centered visionaries who want to live a fully self-expressed life. She supports her clients in their personal development in order to improve their professional success.
Bethany joins me on the podcast to share five steps business owners can take that will lead them to success. This process helps top earners and leaders make decisions and be successful.
What is success?
One of the more tangible ways people measure success is by how much money they are making. But what about things like time, freedom, and having more energy and being happier? One of Bethany’s favourite analogies is that we can want more out of our life and out of our business and if you imagine more coming in the form of time, money, energy, happiness, imagine those things as water. If we're one cup and we want a gallon’s worth of abundance, we actually have to become a gallon container in order to be able to receive that. It’s about becoming a bigger container in our own lives so that we have the room to receive stuff. If you’re only one cup then if you get a gallon’s worth of water, you're still only going to be able to receive one cups worth. So, the tangible things like, “how much money did I make?” is one way to measure what size of a container we are. But for those of us who really value time, freedom, happiness and energy, how can we become more in our lives so that we can have more?

We hear about sales funnels all the time. If your business is online then you’re supposed to build a sales funnel and have a list and all the pieces that go with it, however, a lot of business owners feel overwhelmed at the idea of building a funnel. My guest on the podcast this week is Mia Farrington. Mia is a sales funnel strategist and creator. She helps people craft strategies to bring cold leads in, nurture them, and turn them into customers. If you’re building a business of any kind then you need a sales funnel. Sales funnels can range anywhere from something super simple to something incredibly complex, such as a multi-journey sales funnel. The complexity depends on what your niche is and where you are in your business.

I was at an event a few years ago and somebody on stage said, everybody needs to write a book. At that time, I was in a place where my response was, “Ridiculous. Absolutely not. I do not need a book.” And now years later I think, you know what? Maybe I do want to write a book. I actually do have a lot to say and I think most people have a lot to say, but they have a hard time wrapping their head around whether or not they should actually write a book. And so, that's why I wanted to chat with Sarah Fox, writer, Book Coach and CEO of The Bookish Fox, an editorial agency.
What you have to say matters
Sarah knows that many people don’t believe they can write a book. Whether they have PhDs or didn’t complete their high school educations, everyone has that feeling of, “Who me?” It's the classic imposter syndrome where people think, “why is my book any different? It’s already been done. I'm not qualified for this. What do I have to say that will contribute?”
And while things might have been said before, different people resonate with different things. For example, Sarah’s husband gets so frustrated with her because he'll tell her something and it won't click. But then if a friend says it or a doctor says it, suddenly it makes sense. Same exact content delivered differently. Her husband is very factual and scientific, and her friends are more touchy-feely. So, it was all in the delivery. So, even though what you may have to say has been said before, it will be said differently.

Season two of The Biz Podcast has come to a close. I enjoyed talking about beliefs that are holding business owners back from creating success and I hope listeners were able to recognize what is holding them back.
It was 20 great episodes all about how we think we need to do things the right way or that we need permission to do things. We also talked about how our health can affect how we think about our business and our ability to create success in our business.
Season Two was belief busting
We also discussed how we don’t have to follow what we were taught to believe and that we can build a business and be true to our values, make a difference, and work less without sacrificing the money we earn.
Listeners were also reminded that they have stories and have things in their lives and businesses that others can relate to.
We all get caught up in what we think things should look like or what we feel we don’t have time for - and season two showed listeners how to break through those limiting beliefs. We tackled the belief that sleep isn’t necessary and that we must hustle all the time. We learned that sleep is important as is self-care and making time for the things that matter most in life.
We also learned that you can give yourself permission to get started and create an amazing business and that it doesn’t have to come at a sacrifice to your body, health and life. What you have to give is valuable and people will spend the money to pay for what you have to offer.
Mindset and beliefs stop us from growing our businesses
Whether it is sales or never increasing your prices because you feel you are being greedy, you need to be confident and see you can grow and build your business.
If you haven’t listened to all the episodes from season two, have a listen and let me know what resonates with you.
Season three will be more tactical and offer more actionable content with how-tos and step-by-steps on how to make authentic relationships, how to make sales, etc. I hope you got a lot out of season two and if you know anyone else who needs to hear it, please share my podcast with them!
See you next week when we start talking about some “how-tos.”

Season two of The Biz Podcast has focused on beliefs that hold business owners back in their businesses. As an online marketplace for space rental, upSpace enables business owners to make a second source of income by renting out their space. As a directory and booking system, it helps individuals and businesses book space for meetings and events. Jenn sees huge opportunity for disruption in commercial real estate in Canada. A belief many people have is that they must have a plan for everything in life. But sometimes life happens for itself, organically. Joining me on the podcast to discuss this belief is Angie Cole, creator of Untaming the Wild, a place for really gritty, creative, powerful women who want to create work that keeps them lit up and well-paid.
Angie’s clients come to her because they are interested in changing something about their work life. Many people want to start or grow their businesses. Some folks are changing careers or changing their positions. And the thing people come to her asking for is a plan. “I need a plan. I need to make more money and I need you to tell me how to do this thing!”
We believe everything has a blueprint and we must follow the steps, and then the thing is produced and for lots of us, that just doesn't work when it comes to creating a business we really love, that is part of who we are or something that we really love and care about.

Jennifer Lyall is an Intuitive Business Mentor and Chief Energy Optimizer. Jennifer helps ambitious female entrepreneurs with expanding their energy, intuition and productivity.
Jennifer joins me on the podcast to discuss the belief that business owners don’t have the time to take care of themselves. When Jennifer started her business in 2008, she remembers asking her own coach how she could take two minutes to breathe and her coach told her to just take the time – just breathe! At that time, Jennifer felt like there was so much to do that she didn’t have any time to pause.
Are you running on fumes? Many business owners are running on fumes from the moment they get up in the morning, especially if they’re a parent as well. Often business owners are trying to get through critical projects even though they’re completely depleted. They don’t realize that they should pause and take a break and re-energize so they can focus better later.
Our society tells us to constantly hustle hard, but many of us are the foundations of our businesses, so running on fumes doesn’t make sense. If you’re running at a 6 out of 10 then that’s the level of output you’re working with. That’s also the level of quality you’re producing. It affects your productivity, quality, and relationships – both personally and professionally.
Are you working on survival mode or are you thriving? It wasn’t until Jennifer dived into her spiritual journey that she started to understand the importance of taking time for herself. She now does regular check-ins throughout the day. She checks in with herself in the morning as well as throughout the day, typically at lunchtime as well as between projects. Her check-ins involve taking a step outside and taking in a breath of fresh air, or taking in the aroma of a fresh cup of tea.
These check-ins make her happier and allow her to better focus on her projects. By taking breaks, she is giving her clients a better version of herself. Too many people are going through their days running on a 6 or 7 out of 10 – they are working on a survival mode rather than from a place of thriving.
It only takes a minute to do a check-in and shift yourself from that six to a nine or ten.
Taking time for oneself doesn’t have to be hard or time-consuming. It is about slowing down and knowing that you won’t be doing your best work if you don’t recognize that you need a break.
Our brains are only designed to work well for 45 minutes and then you need a break – you will get more done in a day if you work in 45 minutes chunk than plowing through eight straight hours of work. Energy boosts will increase your mood, quality of work and productivity. Give yourself permission to slow down so you can improve your work and feel better about your day.

The Biz Podcast is back and this season is all about about rules and beliefs that hold business owners down from soaring in their business!! This first episode is a quick introduction to what to expect this season!

How is money impacting your business?
How is your mindset around money impacting your business?
Money is a topic that comes up a lot in my business and in my clients' businesses - that they want to make more of it. That they're finally ready to invest in a coach because they've been trying to do everything along and they aren't getting any where. That asking for it feels so uncomfortable that they simply don't ask.
Dealing with the money stuff in your business is like peeling an onion – there are so many layers. This is because money affects every aspect of your life. It is an emotionally loaded subject.
I wanted to dig down through a few more layers so I invited Core Belief Engineering Practitioner, Megan O’Neill, to once again join me on the podcast to talk about money and business. Megan is a belief and mindset specialist who works with entrepreneurs on their mindset blocks and what holds them back in their businesses. She works with clients internationally via Skype and loves to talk about how people get stuck on money. For more info, visit http://www.thebizpodcast.com/23
