10 years after drafting him, the Seattle Seahawks have traded Russell Wilson. The Seahawks received a great trade package for a guy who only once cost them a third round pick, but the impact of parting with the most renowned quarterback in franchise history--if not the most important player to ever suit up for Seattle--can't be understated. We will try though.

I started writing about the Seahawks at Field Gulls in the middle of 2011. Russell Wilson joined in 2012. He started every game for the Seahawks for almost a decade. Playoffs. Super Bowls. I've written more words about Wilson than I've dedicated to any other person in history. Now it's time to set him free and look to a new future. To do that, I gave an instant reaction to the trade news and shared in it with Sam Gold. You know him from Field Gulls, from YouTube, and from Twitter @SamuelRGold. If you don't know him, now you do.

Bob Condotta and I talk about:

His history as a writer at The Seattle Times and writing about UW basketball and football prior to covering the Seahawks

Thoughts on the newspaper industry and journalism as a whole

How does Bob “Twitter” so well?

The importance of breaking news and competing against NFL Network insiders like Ian Rapoport

Will Pete Carroll approach this offseason any different than the others?

Who is he looking for in the next defensive coordinator?

As a hands off owner, does the Paul Allen era differ any from the Jody Allen era?

That transition year under Jim Mora; what was that about?

What will the Seahawks do with Bobby Wagner?

Did ‘sentimentality’ influence previous contract extensions in Seattle and is that gone now?

Who are the top three priority free agents?

Bob’s experiences with fans asking about Rashaad Penny over the last four years

Is watching the playoffs driving Russell Wilson insane and will it drive him out of town?

And Bob answers YOUR questions from Seaside Joe readers, including “Was Shane Waldron a good hire?” and “Will the Seahawks create their own version of Deebo Samuel?”

You answered an important question. Here's what you said... Should Seahawks fire Pete Carroll? John Schneider? Trade Russell Wilson? Answers here.

View Details

In this episode of Seaside Joe I discuss: If Seattle's record was flipped because of luck, would that change what they need to do in the offseason? Why Russell Wilson's obsession with his own brand is causing him to create "trade rumor" drama; it has to do with the same motivation that causes college players to skip their bowl games. What Seahawks need to do in the offseason and whether firing Pete Carroll or trading Wilson would be the smartest move. Plus a hell of a lot more, so hit subscribe!

Seahawks or Lions? It's not the same clickbait-y title that it might have been seven weeks ago, as Detroit has posted a better record and played better in spite of being worse on paper.

View Details

The Seahawks need to make a change among the coaches and the front office; both of those responsibilities fall to one person. The tide has turned against Pete Carroll but Seattle's choice of who to replace him with will say everything about the future of the franchise. And if they believe they have one with Russell Wilson--if Russell Wilson believes he can have one with the Seahawks.
