Diana Gladney is my guest host today, and her specialty is Helping Busy Entrepreneurs Simplify Video Creation to Amplify Your Business & Brand!

She helps busy entrepreneurs take complicated video tips and teaches them in a way that the everyday entrepreneur can understand so that they can share their purpose with those who need it the most.

Whether you're a stay-at-home mom growing your business, or you run a full-scale marketing empire, Diana believes everyone has a purpose and that VIDEO IS SIMPLY THE BEST WAY to best share your purpose online with the world to change people’s lives! We are her client, and she does incredible work.

But that’s not what she’ll be talking about here today.

For this episode, I’VE ONCE AGAIN suspended the usual format to allow more discussion about race. In the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd, the protests and riots that followed, and the focus on this issue, I feel we have an opportunity to help make real change. Michael Hyatt put it best this week. We who have any kind of leadership role need to ask ourselves, “What does this moment require of me as a leader?”

I don’t have all the answers.

I feel like I only BARELY have begun to understand the issues deeply. I’m in learning mode. And I’m using my platform to give voice to those who know this subject far better than I. Last time we invited Dr. Fred Jones for a conversation.

Today, I asked Diana to allow me to republish her latest podcast because I believe it gives even more insight into what our brothers and sisters are suffering on a daily basis. And I think EMPATHY is the birthplace of ACTION.

Now, without commentary from me, here’s Diana…

We all face difficulties in our everyday lives.

Some things that I’ve struggled with are my emotions and reactions, and eating healthy food.

I do a lot better with both things now even though I am not always perfect, but because I wrote down goals in my code of conduct to address those issues, I have been able to keep myself accountable.

Maybe you struggle with unhealthy habits and you don’t want to be known for those downfalls in your life. I recommend writing your own code of conduct. This is a document created by YOU for YOU to hold yourself accountable for working toward being the person you want to be.

  • ([0:39]) Why this isn’t the first time we will experience change, and it isn’t the last time. We have never been sure of what tomorrow will bring us. We didn’t know that 9/11 was going to happen. We didn’t know that we’d go into a recession. We don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but no matter what happens it is not the end…it’s a beginning.
  • ([1:37]) How you can start preparing your business for the unknown. You might come upon a situation where one of your employees has a family emergency, and now you need to find somebody to step in for them. Teaching that person how to do somebody else’s job is the least productive strategy for your business. So how do you teach them without physically teaching them? Write down your process and have your employees write down their processes as well. There are programs made for this exact reason.
  • ([2:45]) The importance of writing down the principles that govern our life. Well, if they’re that important you might be wondering why I have to write them down. Let me ask you this…Do you remember what you ate for breakfast on this day five years ago? NO! Sometimes we can’t even remember to buy milk. So I write out my code of conduct to remind me of who I want to be.
  • ([8:12]) Why I refuse to fall to a victim mentality even when it comes to Parkinson’s and depression. I have control over my mind. yes, there are chemical imbalances that I don’t always have control over, but I do have control over seeking medical assistance to treat the said imbalance. That is my job and nobody else’s. Maybe somebody did something hurtful, but I have the power to not fall victim to depression or blame anybody else for the way I am feeling.

  9. I act as if successes are inevitable and that I already am the sort of person that I desire to be.

This week I was faced with one of the hardest realizations that I’ve had in a long time. The part of the whole situation that put it all in perspective was one sentence, and that is how powerful words can be.

Words can be like a switch…the lights are going to be off if you’re using the wrong words and perspective, but the second you change your words, the lights turn on, and that’s how you get rich.

In this week’s episode of The Ray Edwards Show, I’m going to delve deeper into how something as simple as a few words strung together can change your life and make you rich beyond imagination.

Click here to download or listen to this episode now.

Tune in to discover…

  • ([1:00]) How just one question can change the entire outcome of a situation. You should never settle on an outcome that doesn’t fit you or your company in the best way possible. Sometimes all you need to do is ask yourself a question on how you change your perspective or how adjusting the words you're using can turn the tables on what you thought was going to happen.
  • ([7:50]) How words can change your world in an instant. Something as short as a sentence can be as powerful as a kick to the stomach. Maybe you’ve found out that you or a loved one has cancer or another life-threatening disease or you suddenly and unexpectedly lost somebody. Think about the words that were said to you. Think about what you said. Those words are probably ones you won’t forget, because maybe you were confronted by the fact that your priorities hadn’t been where they should have been or you were reminded of the fact that tomorrow is not guaranteed. That can change the way you live the rest of that day and the rest of your life.
  • ([15:51]) Why your brain might need a hard reset and reprogramming. Our thoughts aren’t always intentional, and we do face habitual thoughts that may be holding us back from seeing the bigger picture. So to combat our thinking habits, we have to practice flipping the coin or considering the opposite of what we were thinking. Thinking negatively helps nobody…especially not yourself…which is why we need to practice getting those thoughts out and replacing them with positivity and constructive thinking.

I’d love to hear from you. Tell me your biggest takeaway from today’s show on Twitter @rayedwards, on Instagram @rayedwards, and on Facebook too.

Whatever is going on in the world at any point does not dictate the success, prosperity, or peace you experience in your life.

That, my friend, is up to you and only you.

Today I want to help you make a difference in your life and find all three things. With a few simple adjustments to what you’re doing and how you’re thinking, you might just realize that you can find as much success, peace, and prosperity as you want. As long as you’re willing to do what it takes to get there and believe that you can, you will.

Click here to download or listen to this episode now.

Tune in to discover…

  • ([2:24]) How having less control over others gives you more control over yourself. As much as we want to control people sometimesto do what you want or do what you think is rightwe can’t and that’s not a bad thing. Put yourself in their shoes…would you want others trying to control you? Absolutely not! You do have control right now… control of yourself and how you respond, act, or think, and that’s all that really matters.
  • ([3:45]) Why it’s not impossible to have peace during a global pandemic. If you were to be in a cabin in the forest with no work, news, or care for what’s going on right now, would you be at peace? I’m sure you’d have a lot more peace than you do right now, and it is an option. But whether that is the right option is for you to decide. Maybe peace for you is limiting your news consumption, having some quiet time when the kids are in bed, or going on a walk. There are so many things you can do to make your life more peaceful right now.
  • ([10:10]) You hold the key to your success. With your mindset, actions, words, and knowledge you can do anything if you want it enough. It’s only impossible if you think it’s impossible, and only when you start believing that you can do it will you achieve success.
  • ([14:12]) What you should really be asking yourself in any circumstance. When something changes, we are reminded that we don’t have control and that what happens in the world is not up to us. So, we ask: Why me? Why this? Why now? What we really need to be asking is: What can this do for me? How can this change things for the better? What was happening before this that made this the “perfect” time for this change? No matter what is happening in your life, the way you respond mentally and physically can completely change how it affects you.

As entrepreneurs, we know it is crucial for our businesses to have a vision to strive toward. The problem that we all face with this is that nobody tells you how you’re supposed to find and implement it.

Lucky for you, today’s podcast guest and great friend of mine, Michael Hyatt, is joining me to talk about his new book The Vision Driven Leader. I’ve read it already, and I cannot recommend it enough. It has helped me get an even better understanding of how to be vision driven and how to develop my vision, and I know it will do great things for you too.

Tune in to discover…

  • ([4:10]) How impactful Michael’s book really is. The proof is in the pudding, and boy do I have a giant bowl of pudding in front of me right now. It hasn’t just given me visions for my company; it has also created visions of the company for my employees as well. It’s really that great!
  • ([5:25]) Why you really need to check the people when opportunities come knocking at the door. Not all opportunities are opportunities. I know what you’re thinking…that makes absolutely no sense, and you’re right. While the reasoning is pretty simple, it’s quite a bit trickier to decipher which opportunities are beneficial. The ones that aren’t are professionally disguised distractions that could prevent you from real opportunities.
  • ([7:27]) How this book was made for just YOU. So many leaders and entrepreneurs will tell you that you need your vision to be successful, but they leave out the one thing that you NEED to know, and that is how to create your vision. That’s why Michael Hyatt wrote this book…so that you can build your vision and understand what it’s like to have a vision mindset for your business.
  • ([14:27]) What you need to do first to take action as a leader to create your vision. Through the whole process, it is so important to remind yourself that it’s not going to be perfect the first time and maybe even not the second time, and even then it might change a little bit again at some point. Your vision statement isn’t the speed limit, it’s just the suggested speed.
  • ([21:27]) Why your vision doesn’t need to change based on the current situations in the world. Your vision is just that your vision. These are your desires for the future of your company. The only thing related to your vision that will change right now is your process of achieving the vision.

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of losing sleep over pointless thoughts.

Luckily, my great friend Andy Mason wrote a book called Finding Hope in Crazy Times, which we turned into a 30-day hope challenge, and day 24 might be the answer we’ve all been looking for to help us get more sleep.

Let’s start this morning with Andy and find the perfect way to fix our nighttime woes.

Tune in to discover…

  • ([4:12]) The late-night social media nightmare we ALL fall victim to, and we need to stop NOW. If you’re like me, you have nights where you either wake up or can’t go to sleep for some reason or another, and you think maybe a little scrolling will help. Let me tell you that always leads to even less sleep.
  • ([9:01]) The not so scary truth about the dark. Despite the fact that horror films have scarred our minds with monsters hiding in the dark, the truth about it is far from scary. In fact, the truth lies within Genisis 1:1, and it doesn’t say a word about the suspected monster living under your bed.
  • ([13:30]) How the man you see standing over you in your sleep is there to help you, not hurt you. This person is not there to steal all of your money, they are not there to scare you, that person is there to visit you and bring peace to your night. Can you guess who it is?
  • ([16:50]) Why the stay-at-home order might just be the rehab we so desperately needed. You’re probably thinking, “What are you talking about? I’m not an addict.” Well, you might be wrong about that… you just haven’t had to opportunity to realize it until now. Some addictions that we never paid attention to until now are the addictions to results, working, performance, accomplishments, and business. Now it’s time to recover and return to a life that is new, and hopefully even better than before.

Start the day with me as I dig deep into how you can give valuable content to your audience without going bankrupt. Maybe this is for your business right now or maybe it will fit in line with where your business is in the future. On today’s show, you’ll find that your company might not be ready for a technique like this, and how you can protect your business from a quick marketing disaster.

  • How you know your business will benefit from giving away high market content to your followers. I want you to listen to this part very carefully because this technique is not meant for every phase of your business, for most you need more development before something like this could really be beneficial for your business. You need a plan, a following, and a desirable value.
  • Why you can’t just give your content away for FREE and expect tons of income. I wholeheartedly believe that we as entrepreneurs should be sharing our valuable knowledge in the form of content that is worth somebody’s money. However, you need to ensure that you know how to ask for the money in an effective way after you’ve given them useful and usable content that only you can provide them with.

Join me today as I welcome Dr. Gus onto the show to answer some common questions we have about the coronavirus, and how we can act now to lower our risk of infection and come out of quarantine ready and healthier than ever.

Tune in to discover…

  • We’ve all been infected at least once during this pandemic… not with COVID-19, but with fear. This ain’t our first rodeo… history has proven time and time again that these situations don’t last forever. We need to not be afraid and trust that this too shall pass.
  • When things are going to go back to normal. Spoiler alert Things will probably never go back to the way they were, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Some things are out of our control, but they are necessary. Change is necessary, and it happens for a reason.
  • What’s going to protect you from getting sick besides washing your hands. There are so many things that you can be doing that we both know you aren’t. In order to stay healthy and protect yourself, you first need to take care of yourself so you don’t develop other chronic illnesses. Your immune system is going to be your first line of defense.
  • The changes you can make in your life to lower your chances of infection. The first thing you can do is change your mindset, because if you have a stressed and fearful mindset, your body is going to respond to what you’re feeling, which can compromise your health. Did you know that breathing properly can improve your mood and decrease anxiety and stress?
  • Why your quarantine sleep schedule is TERRIBLE for your health. Now, if you’re going to bed and getting the recommended hours of sleep, great you’re doing something beneficial for your health… but if you are going to bed at 3 a.m. and waking up at 10 a.m., you are not doing any favors to your body. Sleep contributes to almost every aspect of our health.

Often we find that we are so stressed and anxious and we have no idea why. Did you ever think that maybe you have some thoughts in your head that you just keep thinking without even realizing it? This morning we are going to start the day by downloading ALL of our thoughts, the good, the bad, and especially the ugly. We will acknowledge, analyze, and correct them, so they won’t sit in the back of our minds rotting away our happiness any longer.

Click here to download or listen to this episode now.

Tune in to discover…

  • Why you should be downloading ALL of your thoughts…even the worst ones. Why would I recommend this when I’m always saying that what you think can affect your mood? Well, you need to first write down these thoughts and second ask yourself a few questions starting with, is this thought the truth, or is it just a fear. If you do this every morning you are sure to see changes in the way you feel and think throughout the rest of the day.
  • 4 Thought substitutes for negativity intolerant people. I challenge you to try some of these, and I think that if you do you’ll find that you have the ability to do the things that you didn’t think you could. All you have to do is move around a couple of words and change the tone of the thought and you’ll find that you are not hopeless, but rather hopeful.
