Jesus Prays for His Disciples

Jesus Prays for All Believers

⢠The thing that is lacking in the church today is the evidence of the âDunamisâ power of God.
⢠The word dunamis is where the word dynamite comes from. Godâs power is dynamite and its destruction is aimed at the works of the enemy. For too long this power has been neglected. The power that the Church and the world desperately needs to see in action.
⢠We need to genuinely seek God as to why more âdunamisâ is not working in our lives. EPHESIANS 3:20
⢠The word âimmeasurableâ can only truly be understood in the context of God and His works.
⢠The âdunamisâ has already been given, but it is only beneficial when it is working - in US!! âDUNAMISâ IS A GREEK WORD AND MEANS:
âact of powerâ (Youngâs); âmiraculous power, abilityâ (Strongâs); ânot merely power capable of action, but, power in actionâ (Bullingerâs).

Reverent fear â itâs a dread of displeasing God UNHEALTHY FEAR - DEFINITIONS: FEAR (noun) â an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. DREAD (verb) - anticipate with great apprehension (verb)
⢠E.g. - Dreading to go to the office/Or the visit to the DR. THE SOLUTION IS LOVE - ROMANS 8:15, The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[a] And by him we cry, âAbba,[b] Father.â NIV
The word Abba means DADDY.
We are adopted to sonship!! That means that we have a BIG dad!
⢠When we were adopted by our DADDY, we did not inherit a spirit of fear as written in 2 Tim 1:7
⢠Our inheritance is not FEAR or DREAD. 2 TIMOTHY 1:7 AMP
7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. 1 JOHN 4:18 AMP
18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of Godâs judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of Godâs love].
⢠What we expose ourselves has the potential to bear fruit in our lifeâs. â (Negative people will affect you) ELIJAH AS AN EXAMPLE â 1 KINGS 18 â ELIJAH RUNS FROM JEZEBEL
⢠The root of Elijahâs fear was not a lack of faith in Godâs power. It was a lack of trust in His plan.
o Why? Because he knew how many prophets Jezebel killed, and God did not stop her.

We may be asking the wrong questions. Instead of asking âWhere is God?â we should ask âWhat is God doing right now?â
God is knocking at the door (heart/lives) of believers (church) that may have disregarded him. In REV 3:20 - Jesus is saying I will come share with you where you are at â then come and share in the inheritance I have for you.
REVELATION 3:20 - 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
The holy spirit gives us keys and streamlines our lives BUT we sometimes treat him like an outsider.

Chris talks about the ten virgins waiting for the groom. In waiting, they ALL fell asleep, but when the groom arrived five were prepared with extra oil in their lamps and five were not, having to leave temporarily to get more oil which resulted in them being late and thus rejected by the groom.

The message of All In is simple: if Jesus is not Lord of all then Jesus is not Lord at all. Itâs all or nothing.
⢠The Gospel costs nothing. You canât earn it or buy it. It can only be received as a free gift compliments of Godâs grace. It doesnât cost anything, but it demands everything.
⢠It demands that we go âall in,â a term that simply means placing all that you have into Godâs hands.
⢠Youâve never actually sacrificed anything for God, if you always get back more than you gave up, have you sacrificed anything at all?

Christians are called believers, but many times, we are more like unbelieving believers. We trust our friends, the bank, the stock market or the government more than we trust God and His Word.
In John 15:5, Jesus says that apart from Him, we can do nothing. We need to lean on Him for help with everything in our lives.
What is trust: DEFINITION OF TRUST 1 a: assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something
b: one in which confidence is placed
c: confident expectation of something; hope.
The words translated âtrustâ in the Bible literally mean âa bold, confident, sure security or action based on that security.â
Trust is not exactly the same as faith, which is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9). Rather, trusting is what we do because of the faith we have been given.
God is:
- ALL KNOWING & EVERYWHERE AND FULLY SOVEREIGN IN CONTROL.
- HE NEVER CHANGES, HE IS ALL POWERFUL, HE IS WISE, FAITHFUL,
- He is Good âkind and Full of Good Will,
- God Is Just â Right and Perfect in All He Does,
- God Is Merciful â Compassionate and Kind

The reason for everything:
- Everything starts with God and His Supremacy! (Col 1:16)
- God is love. (1 Jn 4:7-8)
- God loves you and gave you a spiritual family. (Eph 3:14-15)
- Godâs family is the church. (1 Timothy 3:15)
- Godâs family will last forever, outlasting everything else in creation. (Titus 1:2)
- Although God created us last, he thought of us first. He planned the Universe for his family. (Is 44:2)
- THE CHURCH is Godâs plan. (Eph 3:9-11)
- Jesus makes the whole plan possible. (Eph 1:11-12)
- The time is getting close. (Mat 24:14)
- In the meantime, we can practice for eternity. (Titus 2: 12-13)

What if God did what you were praying for? (Acts 2 â church went from 120 -3000 suddenly).
Are you willing to put your hand up and lead? Harvest means that everyone must do their part.
Jesus leads us and we lead those around us. (Psalm 23)
We reflect the revelation we have of God/Jesus to the people around us. (E.g. people carry/reflect bitterness because they have not got a revelation of Godâs forgiveness. If we lack patience, we have not fully got a revelation of Godâs patience with us.)
Resources follow revelation. Jesus leaders:
- Jesus leaders Serve (serve as sons and daughter) - Mark 10: 42-45.
- Jesus leaders are humble (Phil 2: 3-11)
- Jesus leaders are available
- Jesus leaders are welcoming
- Jesus leaders are forgiving
- Jesus leader pursue holiness (Psalm 29:2 â purity)
- Jesus leaders walk with the holy spirit
- Jesus leaders are obedient (We glorify Him by doing stuff with Him not for Him)

âWaiting on the Lord is the opposite of running ahead of the Lord, and itâs the opposite of bailing out on the Lord,â writes John Piper. âItâs staying at your appointed place while he says stay, or itâs going at His appointed pace while he says go."
We have the choice, then, to take a deep breath, release our clenched hands, and let God be God. And we are invited to continue hoping in his greatness.
2 WAYS TO WAIT:
- PASSIVELY: Taking a back-seat and not co-laboring with God. Sitting back and waiting for the call/breakthrough/promise to drop into your lap. Often comes from disappointment and leads to not actively participating in current season.
- ACTIVELY: Anticipation and expectation and being faithful to steward the prophetic word or call on your life. Serving faithfully. (Pregnant woman gets nursery ready and buys clothes for baby) in the labour she has to intensely focus â in waiting we need to be ALL IN and INTENSELY FOCUSED.
GODâS WAITING PERIODS ARE PREPARATION PERIODS.
We often want Him to do something FOR US when He wants to do something THROUGH US.
We are often not ready for the solution - Our gifts and callings can often take us to where I character cannot sustain us.
We choose BAIL OUT: Mindset: âGod you did not come through for me, therefore I will not do anything until you do.â
Or we choose - RUNNING AHEAD: Mindset: âGod your not doing what I asked, Iâm just going to do it myself.â
WAITING BENEFITS:
- Renews our strength (Is 40:31)
- Establishes security (Psalm 40: 2)
- Reveals heart motives
- Transforms our character
WHAT TO DO IN THE WAITING:
- Pray â stay in communication and intimacy with God.
- Donât strive (pushing in your own strength and running ahead in independence)
- Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.
- Believe, Bow, worship

Let your kingdom come â let your will be done â on earth as it is in heaven - It is Godâs plan that we bring heaven to earth and walk in the authority He has given us. âAs my father sends me, I am sending you.â
God is delighted in His creation and has a purpose for every believer. This plan is accomplished through every saint sticking up their hand. We are all given gifts to build up the church and make it strong. Caring for the poor, rejoicing with the rich are expressions of âlet heaven come to earthâ
WE CANâT LIVE IN THEORY, RITUAL OR ROUTINES â WE NEED TO SEE THE KINGDOM MANIFEST. We can look for evidence of Heaven manifesting in our prayers and pray persistent prayers till there is victory. Push through, keep trusting God.
UNITY & Diversity. We all have similar assignments that are done differently but are pleasing to the Lord. (Gen: 1:28 - Subdue is a military term: it means to TAKE GROUND)
THE ENEMY IS OUT TO BLUR THE IMAGE OF GOD. Godâs plan is destroyed and diluted when we add to it little by little and move away from what God originally intended. Embrace and understand the original plan to be worked out. When we move away from the plan Robots and Rebels are created â be yourself â Unity comes by the Spirit. (Eph 4:3) You side with the devil when you DIVIDE.

- Exodus 33. The Israelites build a golden calf
- Presumption of the Word pushes us away from God
- We sometimes put God in a mold / box just like the Israelites did

- Do you know God that well that you can call on him and his favour for you?
- Do you know you have an audience with God?
- Without the presence of God we are just like people of the world
- Have you met God or just believe what you have heard about him?

Holiness is the condition of being âset apartâ.

Consecration is an intentional and conscious process of personal holiness:
- âI set myself apart from...â
- âI set myself apart unto the purposes of God.â
Sanctification is a work of the Spirit to clean me up once I set myself apart.

STAGE 1:
Exodus 33 from verse 1 to 10.
Moses has spent 40 days in the tangible manifest presence of God.
He comes down from Sinai to find the Israelites worshiping a golden calf that had been handcrafted by Aaron:
Ex32;4
âHe took what they handed him and made it into an idol, cast in the shape of a calf, and fashioned it with a tool.â
Aaron led the people astray because he was a people-pleaser. (Gal1:10)
Aaron says:
âI threw the gold into the fire, and out came a calf.â A blatant lie.
- Idols take time to build in our lives
- Idols are intentionally erected
- Idols are crafted with much dedication
- Idols cost us money.
Moses calls out âWhoever is for the Lord, join with me.â
They get sent to slay brother and neighbor and friend.
Ex32:29
âYou have been set apart (holy) to the Lord today because you were against your own sons and brothers, and He has blessed you this day.â
STAGE 2: God responds!

God sends a plague and many die.
Psalm 39:11
âWhen you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin, you consume their wealth like a moth...â
- God is holy
- A Holy God does not cohabit with sin - sin separates us from God. âI will not go with you...â
- God punishes sin. Sin is contagious. âIf I go with you I might destroy all of you...â

- Even in the OT, God makes a way. âI will send my angel ahead of you...â

STAGE 3: MOSES RESPONDS TO GOD

- Moses goes to God
- Moses meets with Jesus face-to-face as a man meets with a friend.
- It was an intentional 2km walk to the Tent of Meeting.
We need to meet with God.
How do we meet with God?
- It is intentional, not accidental.
- Turn your back on the world and leave the camp
- Draw near to God

- A seed has purpose, but will remain dormant unless you take action
- For the potential to be unleashed, it needs to be planted, and then needs to die.
- P.A.R. = Purpose, Action, Release
- A purpose will always fulfill a need
- Beatitudes (blessed = prosperous and happy)
- To harvest a specific seed, you need to sow that specific seed
- Fruit of the Spirit - It's already inside of you
- Fruit comes from seed so get the fruit by sowing the seeds
- Sowing is a spiritual principle which requires physical action
(If you are lonely... pray for the lonely.
If you are sick... pray for the sick.
Sow the seeds you want to harvest in you own life!)

Scripture makes it very clear what a church is and what it is supposed to be. It is not a building. It is not a program. It is not a single service.Â

Which means Being a Church without walls means we offer unconditional acceptance to people who are hopeless and with people we donât get along with

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Sparks shooting everywhere with the potential to light other fires. Our church has sent people out to be instrumental in other churches.

Discipline is critical in your life. You are what you repeatedly do. Process: Thoughts â Actions â Habits â Character - Future (As a man thinks, so is he)
Fire = Destruction ... but also cleansing. Fire is a process.
A glimpse of what heaven is like: just look at a local church that works well. Family held together by the presence of God. Togetherness as believers is essential to staying âignitedâ. A log on itâs own cannot continue burning. Jesus is the fire! Weâre just the wood.
Fire needs (to burn):
- Dry fuel
- Oxygen
- Heat / spark
1 Corinthians 3 - âBuild with quality materials that wonât get burned up in the fireâ
God works all things to the good of those who love him and are called to his purpose. We have to trust that God is the consuming fire. Allow the love of Christ, through people, to invade your space.
Story: Paul gets bitten by a snake, shakes it off in the fire and does not die. That testimony sparks a church plant right there.Â
Prophetic Word over us: We are an âaircraft carrierâ
- Blessed are you when you believe that the Lord will fulfil his promises to you.
- God initiates. I come in line.
- We donât walk ahead or behind of His promises, we walk IN His promises. But we do need to respond.
- âWe see Foresight like an aircraft carrier. You will be a base for sending out and refuelling missions.â
- The aircraft carrier is on of the most offensive weapons that a military can command. (Crew of 6000 for 180 pilots)
- The purpose of an aircraft carrier is to be in a strategic place in the world close to the action sending out fighter planes to attack and/or protect.
- âThe fruit of a prophet is not prophecies, but prophets, because they should be equipping the saintsâ
- We donât send out our weakest... We send our strongest.
Descriptions of what we do:
- We work with other churches. (NCMI)
- We resource each other with time, treasure and talents.
- We are not a solo act.
- We partner with other churches and make use of their strengths.
- We strengthen and encourage other churches.
- 5 FOLD MINISTRY: we send and receive in and out of the church.
- Culture of generosity
- Culture of prayer and fasting
- Appoint elders in each church
- Gather the church and give feedback

- In Mat 6 - Jesus taught us how to pray.
- If you donât have a prayer life in secret, you wonât accomplish things in public. (v5)
- Prayer is relational communication.
- Prayer is not an information session, God knows all the details, He wants to know if you want to talk about it. (v8)
Tips to lead to a âposture of prayerâ
- Pray simply.
- Read your bible and pray verses.
- Make prayer active and multi-sensory.
- Make prayer an integral part of your life â a lifestyle.
- Pray expectantly.
God wants to INCREASE AND ENLARGE everyone of us. There are POSTURES that bring increase and enlargement.
Is 9: 3 - You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder.
OUTLINE OF SERIES:
1. Posture of worship â received by Grace.
2. Posture of the Farmer â Received by labour (work for it).
3. Posture of a warrior â Received through training.
THE POSTURE OF WORSHIP (20 OCT)
Worship is a posture of Surrender. Worship and Surrender set us free from the shackles that the enemy has put on us.
Jehoshaphat won the war with praise and worship (2 Chronicles 20: 20-23) (You win the war inside to win the war outside.)
Worship & surrender means ârightstandingâ with God.
Surrendering is not occasional moments but a lifestyle of worship.
The more fully you relinquish yourself to Him, the more you will discover that He has your best interests at heart and that His will truly is âgood, acceptable, and perfectâ (see Romans 12:2). The whole idea of surrendering to someone elseâs control runs counter to the prevailing mind set of our cultureâwe donât want anyone telling us what to doâwe want to be in control of our own lives! But paradoxically, we are never truly free until we have fully surrendered ourselves to the Word and will of God.

- We need to remember that we are in a WAR. We need to train for the WAR and always be
prepared. There is a difference between being acceptable and exceptional. Most people just exist and do not rule. - We can also fight for one another by holding each other accountable and praying for one another.
- We have to fight against all the wrong input into our lives. Either God is in control of your life or the devil is.
- Praying in the spirit is a powerful weapon.
- The word of God, the spirit of God and fasting are important weapons in spiritual warfare.
- Internal victory = corporate victory.
